Operation Scimitar (Attn Lebanese Australia)

"...but heroes fight like Chechens. Though we fight a different fight, against a different enemy, many thousands of miles away, we both fight against totalitarianism and against eradication of our nation's tradition and history. I believe that NATO has something to learn about their priorities."

Admiral Fatima Al'Hamil was listening to her radio as she sipped her cofee. For a military woman such as herself news about a war, no matter how influenced by a point of view or another were always interesting to listen.

The huge war between the Questarian Commonwealth and NATO was especially awe inspiring. The number of men, ships and firepower involved were sure to leave a dent in the nations that took part in the conflict. Just the losses from the initial blows were enough to leave one wondering. War was never a good thing in her opinion.

---

"...in an amazing turn of events last night the British Londinium forces launched a full scale nuclear assault against the nation of North Cavaleras. Hundreds of millions are suspected to be dead and there is little hope for any survivors as..."

This was a news report she did not want to hear. She had witnessed just what happened as Principality satellites picked up the huge light show over what was once North Cavaleras. It was, in her opinion, a crime against humanity and the fact that the country getting hit was roughly the same size as The Principality left her chilled to the bone.

She only hoped that war will not befall her nation, but knew that should the need arise she would be ready.

---

"Cavemen!" foreign minister Davout bellowed at the impromptu meeting called after relations had been established with Lebanese Australia. "Even thinking about them brings makes me angry enough to beat someone."

"Calm down Emilian," Flavius Belisarius, rising star of The Principality army addressed him, "We should focus on what we can do, not on what they have done."

"Yes, you're right," the minister replied. "And this is where we have a problem. As you well know we have already imposed an embargo on their nation and used diplomatic channels to reprimand them, but it seems to matter little for them."

"Perhaps a little extra pressure?" one of the generals in the room suggested to him.

"I doubt about this, they sound like fanatics so I doubt that diplomacy will get any major successes here," he said, with regret lingering in his voice.

"Then a lot of pressure. I wonder how will they react to a couple of our carriers on their shores," Fatima added to the discussion.

"Indeed," Flavius confirmed her opinion.

"Yes, and that's exactly why you have been called here Fatima," the Defense Minister informed them, "It was decided that you will lead an expeditionary Task Force against Lebanese Australia."

To say she wasn't surprised wouldn't exactly describe the situation right, since she had half-expected for her to receive an assignment once she received the summoning to this meeting. What she didn't expect was the size of this Task Force.

"You will be in command of ten super carriers with the additional support and escort ships. We hope the intimidation factor will be enough for them to change their ways, however in the event they choose to maintain their position, there is an option for military intervention," the man informed her.

"Yes sir, I will do my best for The Principality," came the reply from the admiral as wheels already started turning in her head.

---

It was a glorious procession for the ships leaving the harbour thought Admiral Al'Hamil as she watched the gathered crowds wishing good luck to the assembled fleet.

She had to admit to herself that the fleet was indeed a sight to behold as it left the docks, after all over four hundred ships in formation would make anyone look twice.

However not all of them were going to reach the Lebanese Autralian coasts. Many of the ships were just replacing ships already at sea while others only accompanied the fleet for refuelling purposes, but it was also true that most of the Task Force was going to join them on the way to the 'enemy' bringing it to full strength.

As the image of her homeland vanished from her view, the admiral started checking the recon images again. It was amazing what a few well placed satellites could do.

Infrastructure, government buildings and military camps were depicted as accurately as possible along with comments from various inteligence analysts. These informations were certain to make her task easier should she end up
exchanging blows with the Lebanese Australians.

The fleet continued its voyage towards its intended destination, each mile bringing it closer and closer.

---

And after a relatively eventless trek they were finally there. On the coast of the Australian Lebanese and ready for action. Keeping her fleet at a respectable distance from the shore, as to avoid any enemy fire, however unlikely it was, she made her opening move.

"To the Lebanese Australian government; This is admiral Fatima Al'Hamil of The Principality of Damirez speaking. We have warned that we will not stand idle to your blatant disregard for human rights, and as you can see we have kept our word.

However we are willing to offer you another chance, one final opportunity for your nation to acknowledge the rights of women and to turn away from your stone age practices.

Do not make us regret it," she ended her message, hoping, although she suspected it was not the case, that the Lebanese Australian government will answer favourable to her demands.

War was never something she desired, but sometimes it was the only option left.

OOC: Not exactly a war yet, but it will probably end up as one.

"What we do about Lebanese Australia then?" asked Oliver. Oliver Mosley IX was the Viscount of the Colonies, meaning he was responsible for all of the foreign wars.

"Declare war? I bet they deserve it."

"Edward! We can't. Not yet anyway." Edward Hollan V was the younger brother of the famous lord Charles Hollan III. he was also the new young and bright chief of the navy.

"So what we do then Viscount?" Oliver Mosley IX was a man with huge respect among the population, and was a man with huge political influence on the nation.

"I suggest we should send some kind of a task force.."

"Commander, approaching target zone, Bredford carrier reporting."

"Received, arrive at target zone and wait for orders."

The Bredfordian task force was now stationed close to the city of Sydney, waiting for orders. It consisted of two air carriers, 6 Hunter submarines to protect against incoming ships, one more ballistic missile submarine, fifteen advanced missile cruisers and hundred and fifty aircraft.

This was to deter the Leb's from trying to breach the naval blockade, or escalate the situation into war.

A phone call arrived for Admiral Fatima Al'Hamil, from an encrypted satellite phone, and no matter what anyone did, the call kept coming through.

When it was answered, there was the sound of gunfire, heavy gunfire, and jet engines.

"Hi Fatima! Long time no see! I doubt you remember me, I was the guy in the background, ceremony, all that, I doubt you care."

The sound of a rocket launching was heard. And then a thump of an explosion.

"Its Mike Toreno, and I'm in a hell of a mess. I've inserted over a thousand of my special forces and a few of my vehicles into Lebanese Australia, and my sources tell me you are preparing a major assault."

The sound of clacking could be heard and a massive explosion shook the speaker.

"Looks like ten carrier battlegroups, Fatima. We are at an airport located on the Prime Minister's residence. And we dropped a 500lb bomb on it. You should have seen it. And we just dropped a bomb on what appeared to be a large troop concentration. We need some help, their MiGs are tying up our air support and the next 2 carriers will take at least 2 days to get within range. Excuse me!"

The sound of pistol fire comes through the phone and a blood curling scream.

"We need assistance ASAP, and I think we need to change our position and secure this airport fully. Over and out."

"William, its seems that there is fighting in the capital city of Lebanese Australia."

"Really, who against who?"

"Apparently some commando forces against the Lebs!"

"Interersting, get me their commander!"

few seconds after, the phone of Mike Toreno began ringing.

The Lebanese Australian Foreign Minister, Abdullah Allawi, spoke to the world on Australian TV. He was an Aborigine who had converted to Islam, but was dressed as a Lebanese politician.

"Lebanese Australia is a democratic state whose Prime Minister and Members of Parliament took office in free and fair elections after the overthrow of the racist white government.

Our human rights, whilst still imperfect, do not justify this blockade. The blockade constitutes an act of war against the Commonwealth of Lebanese Australia and we will only negotiate once it is removed.

Lebanese Australia does not want war. We want to preserve our ancient culture, many aspects of which date back to the Phoenicians."

After the Foreign Minister gave his speech, the Lebanese Australian national anthem, Hala ya Saqr Libnan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZORe15hnpeI) ("Hail, O Hawk of Lebanon"), played as Lebanese troops marched down the streets of Sydney, their heads held high, their rifles held in the air, and their bodies clad in body armour, NBC warfare suits, and thick steel helmets.

"We need assistance ASAP, and I think we need to change our position and secure this airport fully. Over and out."

The call was certainly unexpected. It was not often that someone tried to contact an admiral over the phone and people tend to take notice of the unusual.

Given the belief that sometimes even the smallest information can help and with encouragements from intel personnel the call was redirected to admiral Fatima even though normally it wouldn't have had such a chance.

As she listened to the man on the other end of the line the admiral tried recalling where she had heard the name before.

'A briefing, an intelligence report, I know I heard this name somewhere,' but despite her best efforts she was unable to remember until a thick document was brought to her attention.

"Ah, so that's how it was," she exclaimed as the conversation ended. "Now what to do about it?"

She knew that according to the orders gave to her she was not to engage the enemy forces and only project enough force to make them think twice before answering her demands. There was however no limitation imposed on how she could project the force of her Task Force, and if the Lebanese were foolish enough to engage her planes...

---

With orders from the admiral several aircraft wings took of from the carriers intent on showing the Lebanese that they meant business. There was no order for engagement, but should the Lebanese fire upon them they would retaliate in full.

Coincidence that the route was taking them close to the airport in cause? Perhaps...

The Lebs got a radio signal that planes from Damirez were arriving to help the Zionist Blackhelm soldiers invade them. A force of some 20 MiG-29's were scrambled together and thrown at them. They fired a volley of MRAAM's at the Damirez planes, keeping their distance as they sent a message to their new enemies.

"This is sovereign territory of the Commonwealth of Lebanese Australia. Go back to your shitty little country in the desert where you belong, Zionist pigs."

after few minutes of thinking Admiral William Willcocks and the message that the Lebs fired upon Damirez airforce, the Admiral sent a message to Leb's goverment:

"Our ultimatum is over.

your serious misbehaviour in anything touches human rights is endangering your own population, especially the women and the ethnic minorities. thefore, we have decided to strike.

you can see our nations in state of war from now."

With this, William launched fifty A-7 Wraith aircraft to help Mike Toreno's forces, and his hundred S-3 Viking to bomb the big city of Sydeny, preparing for a secret operation.

"What the..." one of the pilots swore as his screen suddenly filled with bright spots. "We're not even in their bloody air space yet!" he spoke over the comm as all planes begun taking appropriate measures to deal with the incoming missiles.

Back with the carrier fleet Fatima was mildly surprised by this reaction.

"Emilian didn't joke when he told me they're fanatics. We haven't even breached their air space and they're already getting jumpy," and turning around to her communication officer she issued an order, "Open a comm channel to the Lebanese."

"Yes m'am," the officer complied and contacted the Lebanese. Only a short message left the carrier carrying the voice of admiral Fatima Al'Hamil.

"May Allah have mercy on your souls."

Leb Foreign Ministry

In the city, ZSU-57-2 antiaircraft guns rolled through the streets. Lebanese soldiers worked feverishly to heft AA onto schools, hospitals, old-age homes, and every politically sensitive target in the city. Sniper nests were scoped out, and Lebs with sniper rifles waited for enemy infantry.

In larger "sniper" nests, the "snipers" were often MANPAD-equipped, with old Anza surface-to-air missiles, used to snipe at enemy choppers and low-flying aircraft.

"HQ this John Vorrow, this is John Vorrow. we took out completely targets TL1 and TL2. returning to carrier."

the massive aerial bombardment on Sydeny had shocks though the town, even before the Leb troops could organize AA defenses.

until the AA was activated, the big amount of S-3 Viking were already on the Bredford and Courageus decks.

now, few stealth bombers which the simple Leb AA coulden't shoot were destroying selected targets within the city, and repeated missile waves were shot towards the city.

anyway, the more suited-for-bombing A-7 Wraith arrived, and they were dropping dumb bombs towards big military sites near the city, and the hopeless old Leb AA couldn't shoot them.

They advanced slowly toward the exit, hoping to create a stopgap there.

One of the men there had stolen a baggage cart and was driving there under the cover of heavy gunfire to try to create a choke point.

The following statement was released to the world by the Undershi government through the international news media:

Undershi once called for peace and for a halt in fighting. Now that we have learned more about the nation known as Lebanese Australia, we find ourselves disgusted and appauled.

The Empire of Undershi is a totalitarian state - we do not pretend otherwise. We do not allow our populace to vote, and all property is owned by the state. However, there is a difference between a state such as Undershi where the people might not have the vote or freedom to travel or freedom to assemble, but are still secure in their persons unless they comit a crime, and this abomination of a system in use by the Lebanese government of Lebanese Australia. Such a system, a government that not only allows rape to go unpunished but in many ways encourages it, is a horror.

We have a tradition of defending individual nation's rights to self-determination, but this goes to far - some acts of a government, such as genocide or... something like this... they should not be allowed to go unpunished.

We therefore encourage any and all nationd involved in the assault on Lebanese Australia to continue their attacks until the Lebanese government has been defeated, until its army rots in open graves, its navy and airforce is reduced to so much flaming wreakage, its cities bombed to rubble and occupied.

We wish all the brave soldiers fighting against Lebanese Australia luck in their efforts. We would fight alongside you, but our own nation is about to be invaded, so our military must remain home.

Despite being labeled as a "dictatorship," we in Lebanese Australia do enjoy the right to vote for our Parliament members, and we do have the right to assemble. The only difference is certain aspects of our culture are repellant to others.

Perhaps those who condemn us for permitting pack rape should look at nations where people are murdered for simply belonging to another religion, and who invade other nations simply for resources.

Kisikil sighed a breath of annoyance as once again she was reading a report of some fledgling little nation attempting to abuse human rights. It was among the stupidest trends in human evolution, and she thanked the gods that interaction with these vile states could be easily avoided. She put the report down, reaching to take a sip of her tea as she leaned back in her chair and put her feet up on the desk. It certianly annoyed her office that she would approach her duties as Dictator in such a relaxed way, but they could not deny that she got the jobs done through it. Once again she lifted the sheet of paper and read the sharply printed words. Something about this one, of some sad little nation in the South Pacific, had caught her attention though. She wasn't sure exactly, it was likely the complete disgust she had for their supposed culture with it's liberal approach to crimes such as rape, but something about the nation pushed her the wrong way. Suddenly her sweet tea did not taste so sweet, and the room felt a little cold. Her good mood of the day had dissapeared, and that she did not like. Quietly she set her tea down and pressed the button on her intercomm to her secretary.

"I need to speak with the forces as soon as possible. Send Panchito in as well please."

Not too much time had passed when her office door opened. Panchito Guanikeyu, Palil and commanding officer of External Relations, lead the way. Behind her walked two young officers dressed in sharp uniforms, representatives of the Republican Guard and Navy. She was not interested in their names, nor did she care to be sent such young officers for a matter of importance, but she let it slide for now.

"What do we know of this situation Panchito?" Kisikil said, taking her feet from her desk and sliding the paper accross it.

"Mam, what we know is what you read." Panchito replied, unsure exactly of what was being asked. She knew the Dictator knew that those reports were the summation of all the intelligence service could gather upon any nation which was deemed large enough to need a look.

"I know, but what of the situation surrounding the nation? I find it hard to believe such a vile group has gone unnoticed by others, and I find it even harder to believe that others would not have begun to take some form of action." Kisikil responded, her annoyance at the situation showing. She was one who believed deeply in the rights of all, but especially in the rights of women, and especially within backwards nations that would need to be civilised.

"At the moment," Panchito said, noticing the tone of the Dictator's voice, "at least two nations have put into effect plans at invasion for reasons mostly unrelated to the cultural situation. The reasons of at least one appears more religiously motivated."

"Great, more monotheistic expansionist pricks." Kisikil shot out as the Palil paused to take a breath.

"Additionally, several nations have undertaken a blockade of sorts, and are putting the pressure of potential military action in regards to changing the situation inland. As of now the blockade is heating up, but intelligence services believes it may break down into an invasion." Panchito finished.

"Ready the second strategic fleet, order them to set out to join the blockade. Make sure they go prepared to sustain an invasion if needed. Additionally, have the Guard prepare to send forces. They will surely enjoy the open wastelands they will encounter if it comes to blows. I am additionally sure that this backwards state will be unprepared for them." Kisikil said, putting her feet back on her desk. Not once did she look at the young Republican Guard and Navy officers who had entered, she spoke directly to her Officer of External Relations, showing her contempt for the low priority to which the two forces branches had given her today.

"Shal I prepare an address to the blockading nations informing our intent to join their cause?" Panchito asked, preparing to take her leave.

"Please do, I will write a letter of declaration personally to the state in question regarding our actions. Thank you." Kisiki said finally, turning her attention now to her laptop computer which she would begin writing on.

Panchito of course turned and began to leave, but quickly stopped at the door and turned back into the room. There, still standing at attention were the two young officers, awaiting to be dismissed from the Dictator's office. "Come now." She simply said, pointing at the door. The two officers quickly turned and left the room, not once having been so much as looked at by the Dictator.

Declaration of the Dictorial Republic of Sumer to the nations blockading Lebanese Australia

I have been ordered to inform you of our intentions to join the blockade to bring change to the backwards nation of Lebanese Australia. The horrid practice of condoned gang rape is abhorrant to say the least, and it must be stopped. In transit currently is a fleet of ships, including carriers, cruisers, frigates and assault ships, to assist in the blockade. We wish to bring about a change, and thusly are willing to press to a full invasion of required. We ask that you accecpt our forces into this blockade.

Additionally, we will be sending long range fighter reconnaissance patrols to monitor the current situation and to investigate specific questions we have with regards to the Lebanese Australian defensive capabilities. We simply ask that you pay no regards to these flights as they will undoubtably be flying too high and too fast for either your aircraft, or the Lebanese Australian aircraft to touch. However, if the blockade goes sour and their assistance is required by you before our forces get there, please feel free to call for their assistance.

- Commanding Officer of External Relations,
Palil Panchito Guanikeyu

------------------------------

Open letter of Intentions from the Dictorial Republic of Sumer to the nation of Lebanese Australia

Your pitiful, and inhumane practices of gang rape, legal and encouraged by the state, has come quite disagreeably to my attention. I would like to thus inform you that such actions will be taken to change this backwards element of your state to something more civilised, through preferably peaceful means. However, if force is required to bring about this change we will be more then happy to apply it.

Additionally, a fleet of Sumerian warships are on their way to enforce the blockade on your nation. Such a blockade to bring about this change I have already mentioned. These ships are under orders to board all cargo vessels, and all Lebanese Australian military vessels leaving or approaching your nation. They will board, search, and if nessecary detain any vessels at their disclosure. Those ships carrying food and specific medical supplies to your nation will be allowed passage after a search, however weapons, people, and other questi0onable items will be detained.

Finally I would like to offer an olive branch, so to speak, to the tortured people of your nation, the women. The Dictorial Republic of Sumer is willing to accecpt any and all Lebanese Australian women who wish to flee your backward country to a place more civilised.

It was a close call, but the nine jets sent to make a statement to the Lebanese Australians managed to return to their carriers without harm. The Lebanese had just made a grievous error if they thought that the navy will let this pass.

All across the fleet orders were given and men steeled themselves for what was to come. A careful sweep of the waters begun, aircraft, ships and submarines searching for any trace of the Lebanese enemy, fully intent on annihilating the threat such forces might poise.

Aboard the Nova Maria, the flagship of the fleet, Fatima Al'Hamil initiated the second step of the operation.

"I want a broadcast on all possible frequencies towards that island. Warn the people of what is coming and how to avoid being caught among the casualties," she ordered to her underlings.

"Yes m'am, Intel will be right on it, anything else?" the communication officer asked.

"No, you're free to go" she said to the man while carefully preparing her next words, "I believe it is time for us to give them a taste of what will become of them if they continue to persist with this behaviour."

"M'am?" one of the remaining officers, a woman, asked.

"We are launching the third step of our operation, let us hope there is no need for a fourth."

"Yes m'am!"

---

"Attention all personnel, following the attack of the Lebanese air force against our forces, Operation Scimitar has entered its next stage.

Make me proud boys."

For a few seconds after the message there was a deep silence on the ships of the fleet and only the gentle hum of the engines could be heard. It did not last long. The crews of the ships launched themselves in a flurry of activity, much repeated drills brought back to the fore and orders followed to the letter.

It would last only a few minutes for them, but those moments were going to make the difference for what was yet to come. At precisely the same moment, the ships carrying missiles started an orgy of death.

Two hundred long range missiles sped of towards various targets in Lebanese Australia, all aimed at various military objectives and points of strategical importance with only a few exceptions, as several of them were aimed to block reinforcements heading for the airport.

A few minutes later, once the missiles were well on their way towards the mainland, the carriers started doing their part. This time a much larger force took of towards the Lebanese, armed with a large array of missile and with bombs containing not only explosives, but also manifests and pamphlets.

"What will we do next?" the admiral's second in command asked, already knowing the answer.

"We'll wait and see. If they react favourably then there's no need for the next step, but if they don't..." she left the words unsaid, but it was quite obvious what she meant.

According to the plan, the Lebanese Australians had fourteen hours to comply with their demands.

---

The message from the Northern Colonies was well received by the officials of The Principality. A diplomatic solution was always preferable to war and although the first stage of Operation Scimitar was well underway, it was not yet at the point of no return.

An official answer was composed and quickly delivered.

From: Emilian Davout, Foreign Minister
To: Alexander Peters, Foreign Minister of The Northern Colonies
Subject: Conference

Our nation would like to announce its participation to the peace conference you are organizing. While our forces have already initiated combat with the enemy, we will shortly cease all hostilities for the next twelve hours. We like to make some of our demands clear before the conference begins.

#1 Cessation of all abusive and humiliation practices in regards to women.
#2 Equal rights for women and other oppressed minorities.
#3 Admittance of observation teams that will monitor the progress regarding this matter.
#4 Punishment for all rapists and those who support them.

We have assigned councillor Andreea Mora to represent us to this meeting. She will arrive there shortly.

Best Regards,
Emilian Davout.

OOC: I know there are different threads dealing with this crisis, but so far this is the only one dedicated to it, unlike the others (factbook and introduction).

Alexander Peters smiled as he read the telegrams from the two nations.

"Maybe there will be peace after all," he muttered.

He walked to towards the his office. Seeing his secretary, he went to her desk.

"Get a place ready for the negotiations, perhaps Government House. It is quite, the peaceful place."

"Sure," she replied.

Alexander Peters walked towards his desk in his office. He went on his computer and began to write a reply.

I would like to add that the goverment of Bredford supports Damirez in its demands to Lebanese Australia.

"David, does the forces ready?"

"Yes, sir! The Marines are on the landing crafts and the Airborne are already on the helicopters."

"Good. prepare for operation Kippa.

just remember what you have been told, the Jews are armed with AK-47, and they will maintain Kippot on their heads. anyone not wearing a Kippa and Armed, would be shot."

"Yes, sir! commencing operation Kippa and Jew Liberty!"

Half hour later four Marine brigades landed in the southren shore of Tasmania.

the 1st Airborne Brigade landed inside the city of Hobbart, which was unprotected, as the Leb's focused attention on the mainland.

The jews, as planned, attacked from their beit knessets and assaulted the guards in their towns, which were attacked in suprise.

overall, a total of 15,000 Jews would be evacuted from Tasmania in the soon time with the help of 5500 Bredford warriors, Marines and Airborne, with wide air support.

the few Lebs that were in Tasmania were fierce fighters indeed, and it is believed that they suffered equal casualties with the Bredfordians, a suprising fact considering their few numbers and lack of air support. (the rest surrended.)

The moment you can do the right things without cost and pass the chance by, you cease to be worthy of the position of President.

These words circled in President Teivel's mind as he observed the continuing evolution of the situation around Lebanese Australia.

There was an almost physical pain in his chest at the thought of legalized pare, the suffering of the people, the very thought that the land of Australia could have fallen so far.

Now with a blockade, small scale conflicts and now possible peace talks it was time for the UFAT to weigh in, if anonymously and make sure that if things proceeded to peace talks those pushing for the Lebs to reform would get what they wanted, and, if it became a real fight, well then at least it would be over quicker and with fewer casualties.

The thought of getting caught would bring with it more diplomatic wrangling than Teivel was prepared to deal with, no it would have to be a black opp. He relayed a message to the submarine of the Latoman fleet that had found itself under UFAT command after the decimation of their nation by a nuclear strike.

"ATTN: CAPTAIN BENYAMIN MEIR
YOU ARE ADVISED TO UNDERTAKE A BLACKOUT STRIKE AGAINST THE NATION OF LEBANESE AUSTRALIA SHOULD THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A CLASS BLACK LAUNCH PRESENTS ITSELF"

----SSBN "LNS TIKVAH" ----

Captain Benyamin Meir had been an born an Australian but he had taken it upon himself to become a Latoman after the horrendous fall that had beset his original homeland. That could have been one reason he so hated the monsters that ran that landmass now but there was no doubt it was not the only one.

This was made clear by the response of his crew to the orders that came through. Under normal circumstances the transmission of orders was efficient and professional, this time however, it was inhumanly rapid and excited. The crew had been watching the situation in Lebanese Australia for some time, keen to act, knowing what horrors were going on and just which segment of the population was most likely to suffer if the no changes were affected. None the less they understood direct intervention would likely be against the interests of those for whom they worried most.

Now however the XO handed the transcript to the Captain with a sort of eagerness and fire in his eyes. Now was their chance to make a difference...if the captain ordered it.

Captain Meir read the orders twice and then, after checking his map screen, ordered the Tikvah to launch depth in a sweet spot position where their launches would not intersect with any of the blockading vessels revealed on satellite readouts. He then addressed the vessel.

"Gentlemen, today we are at last given a chance to once again fufil our eternal duty to protect, defend and preserve the people and the values to whom we have sworn our lives. Though the world shall not know who we are, know in your own hearts that it is as meaningful an act as if we were held to the worlds eyes bathed in spotlight.

Launch personel, prepare for underwater launch, full salvo, target portfolio : power infrastructure"

In the tubes of the submarine 30 upgraded SLGM-109 Tomahawk missiles were readied for launch against power generation infrastructure. The Sub did have 6 much more capable weapons on board but for deniable operations the ubiquitous tomahawk would be perfect. The Latoman software had optimized the weapon for absolute minimum altitude flight and adapted to to take evasive action against interception attempts.

As the Submarine hit launch depth the captain retrieved his trigger and looked around the room once taking in the situation and glanced at the two badges that appeared on the left arm of his uniform,Above the Australian flag which he had worn on every uniform he had ever born sat the emblem of the Latoman navy framed as always by the Magen David.

"Adonai Echad"

The 30 missiles burst from the surface but quickly adjusted themselves to an extreme low sea skimming profile, they had each acquired targets including power substations, generation plants and control facilities and at such a low level their detection and counter would be a task for even the most competent of armed forces let alone the laughable stock that they were targeted against this time. Guidance was transfered to satellites and any changes in the missile flight plan would now be controlled by Latoman officers on the other side of the world.

Its payload launched the Tikvah dived and began to egress the area in full stealth profile.

The Lebs threw the only ballistic missiles they had at the Tomahawks to intercept them - SS-1 Scud missiles. These were not that accurate and only managed to save the main power station in Sydney, so most of the power was out until the Lebs could get the rest of the grid back online.

OOC: Commonwealth of Independent Nations, there's a thread link in Leaf's sig.

IC:

“Ur One to Ur Three, we’re approaching the target area, how’s your fuel?”
“Ur Three to Ur One, fuel’s doing fine, we should have some loiter time.”
“Ur One to Ur Three, start watching them, keep me updated.”
“Ur Three to Ur One, roger that sir.”

The six large FJ-12 fighters flew high and fast over Lebanese Australian airspace. At eighty thousand feet up and traveling at just over two and a half times the speed of sound, the pilots knew there was no way they could be shot down. Unfortunately, they also knew they were lit up like a neon sign to any and all radar systems even looking in their direction. It wasn’t an issue however, they were not there to fight. Two of the aircraft, Ur Three and Ur Four, carried surveillance gear in their weapons bay instead of the medium range air to air missiles the other four carried, and all six fighters had to cut their weapon load down to bring the extra fuel needed just to take a look. For now, fighting was out of the question, so they stayed high and watched.

“Ur Three to Ur One,” This time the Combat Operations Officer in the second seat of the fighter piped in instead of the pilot. “It’s looking like a mess down there sir. Heavy fighting around what appears to be a civilian airport, and enemy support systems have been attacked and mostly destroyed.”
“Ur One to Ur Three, uplink your findings to the Second Fleet in route to the situation, they’ll want to know about it. See if they can get us some tanker support when our replacements arrive too.”

The six aircraft simply continued to circle and watch the situation below unfold. As the two recon equipped fighters watched the ground and sea operations, the other four kept their minds to the situation in the air. The massive and powerful radar systems of the FJ-12 were more then capable of letting them see enemy fighters long before they ever became a threat, especially with the obsolete models they had been briefed the enemy may use, but they were not up to taking any chances so far from home.

-----------------------

By this time the Second Fleet had already been underway. Several large fleet carriers, with escort carriers and supporting destroyers, frigates, supply ships and troop transports. The fleet would be a force to be reckoned with for sure, but they were preparing in route for blockade duty, not full war. Naval infantry units were practicing clearing ships and boarding, pilots practicing their patrols and support duties between combat patrols of the fleet. Even on the escort ships the guns were perfected in calibration to allow them to be used if needed to stop cargo ships with accurate fire to an engine. For now the fleet maintained it’s tight security net, but was preparing for a security run. The news regarding the situation on the ground had not yet reached it’s full bloom within the minds of the fleet commanders, and still they were determined to arrive to a blockade, not a war.

Stop crying, please. I Just that I would fight someone else, had you read my earlier post. And fix your grammar and punctuation as well. And plus, ignoring an invasion is bad form and you will look bad. I don't need a reason to invade you, I could have easily just invaded you without a reason.

EDIT: YOu know what I find funny? Is that Bredford easily attacked a smaller nation, yet when someone larger than him decides to attack Bredford, he cries himself out of the problem....Lol

What the hell? i had reason to invade Leb. you didn't have reason to invade me.

Regardless, Lebanese Australia you still have to RP a response to my air strike, which by the way was launched before my government agreed to come to the negotiation table.

And Maldorians, you really had no reason to jump on Bredford, he acted only after LA opened fire on me.

The great sea was a sight to behold. Nothing but water that stretched the horizon was visible, and yet, the sea was many, many times bigger than that. It was nearly as big as the skies themselves. And in those skies, the blue camouflage of the Weccanfelt Armed forces could be seen, adorning the four seated propeller driven WGP-111 ‘Pigeon’, in which contained an important shard of Weccanfeld’s future.

In the plane, there were four men. One sat in the front, his hands grasping the controls of the plane, occasionally leaving the stick to push a button or adjust a lever. Two others sat in Weccanfelt military apparel, brushed, polished and ironed down to the smallest blemish. The two men wore blue camouflaged trousers and shirts, but over this they wore a dark brown jacket, one that had the sleeves cut off save for short stumps which revealed long blue sleeves from the undershirt, and both had pockets on the front of the jacket. And on the belts, both times on the right side, there were two magnums. One had a cigarette in his mouth, the other chewing gum. But the fourth man was the most important.

The quite young man wore a suit, again ironed, cleaned and pressed as to create a very presentable piece of clothing. The man wore blue eyes and short brown hair. And on his lap rested a briefcase, inside which rested the current plans of the Weccanfelt government.

“We’ll be there soon, sir. You can see the carrier out the window.” Said the pilot, over the noise.

“Are you sure we’ve got permission?” Replied the suited man.

“Yes, Harrisoan radioed, he got the permission beforehand.”

“Ah, very well.”

The pilot then started talking toward the soldiers.

“You better put out that fag. Make sure you keep the ashes out of here. I’ve just had here cleaned. And if you bloody leave that gum in here, I’ll drag your ass back in here to clean it up yourself, Dawkiens.”

The addressed soldier froze, his gummed hand halfway to the bottom of the chair. The suited man took out a handkerchief, passed it to the man, and looked out the window, to the horizon.

* * *

As the plane hit the deck of the Nova Maria, and the invasive buzzing of the engine began to die down, one of soldiers claimed “I’ve seen this before. This ship was lurking round near our borders!” The man’s words went unheeded, as the other passengers had another thing on their minds, namely the Damiran’s reaction to there being a Weccanfelt aeroplane on their deck. The plane began to grind to a halt, and the young man took a look out of the window, and saw that they were gaining a small audience. When the plane finally did stop, the door slid open, and the passenger’s stepped outside...

The feet of the three men landed on the deck, and they saw that a woman in naval uniform had come to meet them. The young man extended a hand, and said:

“Hello. I am Peter Wallaece Laehwitatun, Foreign Minister of Weccanfeld. You’ll be Admiral Fatima Al'Hamil, I presume?”

With the initial strike well underway, the fleet returned to a somewhat sedated routine. Orders from home arrived informing them that plans were still in effect, but also announcing a peace conference of some sort. Although there was hope among the officers that the Lebanese Australians will see the light, most of them doubted it.

Supply ships ventured back and forth already replenishing what little was used in the mission. Planes scoured the skies and submarines swept the oceans, even though there was little activity to be seen.

In fact, most of the ships registered on their sonars were aiming their weapons at the Lebanese, but regardless of their intended purposes their signatures were registered and at least one ear kept track of their movements. So far there was no action registered and orders were quite clear; as long as they did not attack them or launched strikes against the civilian they would be treated as a low priority target, nothing special in the grand scheme of things.

It was at this point that admiral Fatima received an urgent message from Headquarters. It seemed that the Weccanfelds wanted to talk and what was even stranger about this was the fact that they wanted to talk with her. She, as well as the entire government of The Principality, had no illusions what this was all about, but she knew that better relations with the Weccans were always a thing looking forwards to.

The irony was however not lost on her. The very vessel that acted as a flagship for the Task Force, the Nova Maria, was in fact the carrier that most Weccanfeld captains swore about in their sleep, after all it spent most of its service time lurking at their borders.

---

Her musing on the subject were interrupted as one of her officers politely knocked on the door to her quarters.

"M'am" the man started,"The Weccanfeld airplane has arrived. It will land on the deck shortly."

"Good, make sure everyone is prepared to welcome them, I'll go pick them up myself," the admiral replied while rising from her chair.

"M'am, but that's not how..." he added.

"And your point is?" the admiral replied, slightly amused by his bewildered face.

"No point at all," came the swift answer.

"Good," she ended the conversation and made her way to the deck just in time to greet her guests.

“Hello. I am Peter Wallaece Laehwitatun, Foreign Minister of Weccanfeld. You’ll be Admiral Fatima Al'Hamil, I presume?”

"Welcome to the Nova Maria, mister Laehwitatun, I am indeed the admiral you have been searching for. Now if you would follow me to a quieter place," she told the foreign diplomat as she started moving.
Weccanfeld
19-08-2007, 16:55
“Very well, ma’am”

With a hand gesture, he dismissed the two soldiers, and they were escorted to another part of the vessel, as he followed the admiral to this quieter place.

‘They’ll be suspicious. They’ll think you’ll want to find a weak point in the ship, or similar. Just do what they tell you to do, Peter, and you’ll have a clear road to travel on to bigger and better things here...”

The words of his superior echoed in his head. As he passed through corridor after corridor, he saw that he was getting glances from the crew, but he ignored them. He concentrated on the matter at hand. Sealing the deal with the admiral.

* * *

The two soldiers were chatting, in their native tongue, about recent events.

“Did you see her? She meant business.”

“Yeah. I wonder where they’re taking us?”

“I’ll ask...” he exchanged his mother tongue for the English one “...where are we going?”

On board the Sumerian Command Ship

A phone's ringing could be heard now. It wasn't a cell phone, or even the ship's internal phones, but the satellite phone. The one normally reserved for calls of urgency from that nation's leader. This time it was different, it was an 'unlisted number' as the phones panel described it, an obscene thought to those who trusted in encrypted communications.

But it wouldn't stop ringing, and finally someone picked it up, and the sound of a fierce battle could be heard.

"Hey! Second Fleet of Sumer right? Took me a while to get a line that connected. Its Mike Toreno, your commanding officer might know me, I was the foreign agent at the ceremony where he got his stars. Blue eyes, brown hair, fancy three piece suit, yada yada, me and my boys are leading a major regime change here."

A rocket went off and the sound of a heavy machine gun filled the reciever.

"To make things short, us boys have secured a major airfield in front of the Prime Minister's residence."

He looked up at the shattered remains of his residence, destroyed by 2 massive iron bombs in the opening stages of the conflict, along with the control tower, which looked like it was going to topple any minute.

"There isn't much left of it, the thing is that reinforcements for my boys and I are a few hours away, a few C-130s filled with heavy equipment for us to finish this battle and allow your boys to do a major airlift."

The sound of a sonic boom drowned out his words.

"Wooo, the F-35s we have from an unmarked assault carrier are doing a number on them, but their MiG-29s are sending them for a loop. If you can send in some air support, and shut down their power stations we can fully secure this place."

Airfield Able

The name Airfield Able was simply a codename assigned to the place by Toreno, he thought Alpha would be boring so he used the old system.

He plan to use the baggage carts to create impromptu bunkers was working well and his men suddenly found themselves no longer on the open tarmac as sitting ducks.

The only problem was that he had lost a C-5 Galaxy with two more APCs, which meant he was operating with much less support than he thought. He picked up his stolen assault rifle and cut down a soldier trying to sneak around the overlapping fields of fire.

He then leaned back on the other side of the bunker. He watched as one of his men was shot why trying to retrieve as many of the fallen enemy's assault rifles. He lept back up and returned fire with a series of short bursts, falling the enemy.

He knew this battle couldn't last much longer, and the Lebanese Australians had only been sending infantry to assist, he knew the heavy stuff was coming soon. And he looked at his list and the stockpile of enemy weapons. They had enough ammo to hold off a tank division, but with only a thousand plus men and that number dwindling for the next few hours, he knew he had to make or break it now.

The marines escorting the Weccanfeld troops could only barely contain their laughter. As per protocol when dealing with foreign soldiers on board a Principality ship, they were familiar with the Weccan language. The short description of the admiral was right on the money in their opinion.

Only a few seconds later, after wandering through another corridor the Weccans changed the language in which they were speaking and addressed them a question:

“...where are we going?”

“The cantine,” came the quick, but polite, answer.

“We’ll be there in a few,” added the other marine.

---

In another part of the ship admiral Al’Hamil finally reached her quarters. With a quick sign of her hand she assigned her guards to stay at the door, giving thus much needed privacy for their conversation.

As the door closed she did a quick assessment of the Weccan representative, he was a young and eager lad and in her opinion a bit naïve, but probably quite idealistic. For some reason though she got the impression that she will hear from him again in the near future. Regardless of what her analytical mind was telling her, she started the conversation.

“So, mind telling me what brings a Weccan minister on board my flagship?” she asked on a half amused, half serious tone.

"I've got a important message from the First Minister...

The man talked about how Weccanfeld could enter a number of paratroopers into Lebanese Austrialia to assist Damirez in its endeavours, and in the subsequent occupation of the country. The monologue showed that the man was quite naive, but a nice fellow nonetheless. When he finished, he waited for the woman to reply.
Damirez
23-08-2007, 22:06
Fatima listened to the offer carefully, taking care to check for hidden meanings hidden beyond the skilful words of the diplomat. The conclusion she came with was however entirely different. Her earlier beliefs were proven right.

The man in front of her was as naïve as they came, but even with this major disadvantage going against him, the admiral felt more respect for him than she did for almost the entire Weccan government. The man actually cared about the people, but care without responsibility would bring little. For his own good and that of her country she knew she had to bring him to the realities of this harsh world.

“Your offer holds much interest,” she began, “And I am sure we will welcome your cooperation in case of an invasion, but tell me, don’t you find it odd that you were sent here on what was supposed to be a futile mission?

Isn’t it convenient for some people for you to be kept away from the capitol and unaware of current Weccan – Principality relations?” and she kept going, painting a very grim situation to the young diplomat in regards to things he had held until now as sacred.
Weccanfeld
23-08-2007, 22:31
The young diplomat was gobsmacked at the situation painted by the admiral. He thought that he was on a meaningful mission. He'd been told so.

"But I was told by the media representative that the people's respect for the Principality was higher than it had been in centuries! Not to mention that the Field Marshall said that he'd already mobilised the troops, ready to drop. And the Transportation Minister..."

The man told of the information he had been fed by the many ministers. He mentioned two thirds of the cabinet, but as he got through, he remembered some of the faces of the ministers some of them, despite giving good news, had faces of guilt. Perhaps some of them were lying to him...

But then, he remembered some of the words of the second minister himself:

"Things have been hard for them this week. The transportation minister lost a pet tot he floods the other day, did you know that? He was devastated, he was. And the poor health minister..."

He believed the second minister was a trustworthy person. he had promoted him, saying 'You had promise'. He had gone drinking with him. Surely he couldn't have been lying to him?

He stopped talking, and looked at the Admiral to see her response.
Damirez
23-08-2007, 22:47
The admiral couldn't help but smile at the words of the man. It was a small, patronizing smile and it didn't take a genius for someone to figure it out. She knew that the one in front of her was having a crisis of belief, but she had to press on.

"You do realise that relations between our countries have been firmly established only a few decades before?" she asked, "And that it's only because the Second Minister cabinet made a last minute call that you're here in one piece? Whoever sent you here must consider you quite expendable, if all they can manage is a bored secretary to pave the way for you," she pressed on.
Weccanfeld
23-08-2007, 23:55
The man listened, while having an internal crisis. He very nearly broke into tears, having learnt that he had been lied to by most of his work mates who had brought him confidence over the months. But he resisted, for the time being. He tried not to give the impression that he was a weak man. But his resolve was waning.

This woman had brought a epithony to him. The pictures of the ministers flashed forward in his head, like a slideshow on steroids. I've been lied to for my entire working career. The only reason I am where I am is because I am gullible and naive. I am pathetic. These words repeated themselves, until they became so loud he couldn't even hear the woman anymore. They became louder, and faster, as did his breathing. His face was bright red. He was overwhelmed, as he remembered his ex girlfriend, and her betrayal. He though it wouldn't happen again. But it had. En masse.

By now his resolve had completely dissolved. He simply let og.

As Fatima watched the man in front of her draw his own conclusion she was witnessed to a somewhat rare occurrence in the diplomatic world. She could see on the face of the Weccan minister his conflicting emotions and the fact that he was deeply affected by her words.

It did not take long for her to realize that the man was truly and utterly naïve, more so than she initially pegged him to be, yet there was something sweet about this innocence of his. Encountering a man that actually wanted to do the right thing without involving the messed tangle of politics was something she always cherished, even though she would be hard pressed to admit it.

As she continued to watch, she couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for the man, even though she knew he was an enemy. Perhaps with more like him relations between Weccanfeld and The Principality would flourish, but that was not yet the case.

Regardless of all her thoughts, she knew she had to do something once the man in front of her started crying. She had to gain his confidence, and in the process establish a relation that could be mutually beneficial for both countries, and a little influence was never bad. With that in mind she drew her handkerchief from her pocket, and gently offered her to the man, a kind smile on her face.
Weccanfeld
24-08-2007, 22:24
The man accepted the hankerchief humbly, and used it to blow his nose, and wipe his face. For the most part, the sobbing had subsided.

"Thanks" He started "I needed that. The rest of the cabinet are...are bastards. Why me? There were plenty of people who would be much better in this posistion than me. Why the hell me?"
Damirez
24-08-2007, 22:46
“And you’re alright with that?” the admiral replied to the Weccan. “Do you find it just that because you care about your country you are used like this? Do you truly want to know why?” and then, without waiting for a reply, she continued.

“It’s quite simple actually, you have something they’ll never have and they probably loath you for that. You love your country and do so without having your actions guided by hidden interests. Truth be told with your current resources and assets there’s little you can do, but…” she stopped, a look of intense concentration on her face.

The listened intently to the woman - she was right. Most of the cabinet, save for Joahn, and some others, didn't care about the people.

He had heard many things about the Second Minister. Some said he and the First Minister hated each other, and that he ruled the cabinet with an iron fist. But wouldn't Joahn be assassinated by the cabinet? Perhaps they didn't have the correct replacement, or perhaps they were scared of him. Joahn was nearing ninety. What was so intimidating about him?

The woman continued to talk, but then stopped, with a look of intense concentration on her face.

"What?"

"I can help you," Fatima replied to the man. "I have at my disposal the means that you lack, the power, money and relations that you need. I'll be frank about it, we, as in The Principality, need a stable Weccanfeld and if your First Minister dies, I doubt that will happen. It's a matter of mutual goals," she ended her reply, looking at the man in front of her with an understanding look. It was a very generous offer and she knew it, but maybe, just maybe, the man was worth it.

"Regardless of you deciding to accept my help or not, I'm always willing to give you an advice should you needed," she added after a short period of silence. However as she expected a reply she was interrupted by the voice of her comms officer.

"M'am, we have a situation here, it seems the nation of Verenberg decided that negotiations aren't the way to go..."

Deep, under the protection of the sea one lone, silent, submarine was preparing for its mission.

"Yes sir, we'll contact the intended target soon," came the reply from what seemed to be the captain.

"Good."

In Lebanese Australia the phone of one Mike Toreno started ringing until the man couldn't ignore it anymore.

The Lebs threw the only ballistic missiles they had at the Tomahawks to intercept them - SS-1 Scud missiles. These were not that accurate and only managed to save the main power station in Sydney, so most of the power was out until the Lebs could get the rest of the grid back online.

((well i find it amazing that you would attempt to counter low level cruise missiles, which it is unlikely you would be able to detect in any case, with a ground attack missile with a huge CEP. To actually intercept a Tomahawk with a Scud is something likely near impossible to achieve even under controlled test conditions. However considering you only saved the power station i'll clarify the effect on the other targets. ))

Command Battleship "LNS Unity".

The CIC was alive as the communications, guidance and tactical officers monitored the flight path of the missiles and their terrain hugging flight path. The missiles split into groups with eight heading towards targets in Sydney while the other went after the key generation infrastructure.

->NSW Coal Fired Power Stations.

NSW drew the vast majority of its base and peak power from a number of large coal fired power stations, that was the way it had always been with the facilities drawing coal and cooling water from the Latrobe Valley and the environment.

18 missiles achieved firing solutions against the six largest stations.

Bayswater 2,640 MW
Eraring 2,640 MW
Liddell 2,000 MW
Mt Piper 1,320 MW
Vales Point 1,320 MW
Wallerawang 1,000 MW

The Tomahawks arced towards their targets with all the refined precision that a state of the arts guidance suite could bring. The specific targets were designated to prevent the rapid restoration of power.

At each sight the cooling water intake station evaporated as the enhanced High Explosive warhead ripped the structures apart before they were drawn into catastrophic implosion as the additional, secondary FAE effect took place with such force that it would easily draw objects the size of a person into the conflagration.

Missiles also hit the control center for each station, with the destruction of the control facilities combined with the loss of cooling water there was every chance that the stations would either burn themselves out or else overheat and suffer catastrophic failure.

The third strike at each plant targeted the main turbines, the beating heart of the station. The huge turbines were obviously sturdy but never intended to resist the impact of a cruise missile. The Tomahawks delay fuses allowed the critical payload to pass through the station roofs before setting off a brutal conflagration.

-> Snowy River Area

The Snowy Moutain Scheme was responsible for almost 4% of the total power generated in Australia and formed a vital hedge of power that could potential be sent into the Sydney Grid in times of need.

For fear of colatoral damage the dams themselves could not be hit but none the less four Tomahawk missiles burned a path towards the Tamut 2 and 3 stations. Three missiles impacted the power transmission stations as well as Tamut 3s control building. One missile however followed a carefully crafted path, bursting through the stations roof into the primary machine room where the explosion would likely seal the fate of the station.

With these impacts power generation capacity throughout NSW would likely drop to stone age levels.

->Sydney Area.

Eight targets had been acquired in Sydney. Six transmission stations, the Primary Transformer station and the Sydney grid control offices. The officers in the CIC watched as the transformer objectives were hit in turn and as a missile disappeared into the grid office.

The eighth missile, the one making its way to the lynchpin target. They Sydney power station, the primary power station in Sydney went dark shortly before impact. As the state of the art missile blazed towards its objective at terminal velocity it was impacted out of nowhere by an Scud missile. The chances of such an intercept were incomprehensibly small but luck did tend to favor fools after all. It would be a slight consolation that all Scuds launched that did not impact the tomahawk would likely fall on Sydney itself or self destruct and only a few meters above ground level raking the streets with flame and shrapnel.

((While would remain a spattering of power and transformer capacity at the Sydney Station, the grid would be well and truly dark.))

(( saving the Sydney station may help in damage control but there is no way that you'll be able to restore any serious power for quite a while given the fact it was the only thing that i targeted that you saved. All those involved in the conflict should note that the the power should have almost universally failed as per LAs description. At nightfall it'll likely be a near complete black out. Somehow i doubt LA troops are universally issued with NVGs.))

(( i am well aware as such, and infact, as i quoted, he already did. He stated that they only managed to save the main power station in Sydney when i had already specified that i had targeted a broad spectrum of power industry targets with the salvo. I did not declare success or failure and in many areas the end effect of that hit is either supposed, suggested or implied, not stated in iron clad.

Essentially what you have above is a detail post demonstrating the response of my guidance team and the missiles themselves to the impacts which LA has already stated must have occurred. Should he wish to go back or alter his earlier claims ill be flexible but as it stands, the very fact that i didn't raise a fuss over a low level missile being intercepted by a SCUD means i feel he's already taken some creative leeway.

In essence, i've just put the detail into the failures that LA has already said took place. Note that while i've extensively RPed the missiles flight path and entry into the building (which LA has implied took place almost universally without counter) and their detonation as well as the likely effect of their detonation. I am aware it's a fine line, but he did respond, he did state the almost complete failure at counter and all i have done is detail the effect of that failure and, in the case of the main Sydney Station, the lack thereof.

If he wishes to dispute anything then by all means he may, but given the situation and circumstances i would find little to any of the above post likely to be subject of a realistic objection in the context of the RP.

I've clarified the above incorporating some of the likely into an OOC format so as to avoid confusion. The Northern Colonies Government officially condemns the actions of the Glorious Republic of Leafanistan and it's allies. Whilst the Northern Colonies Government does not agree with certain laws of Lebanese Australia, it still accepts the full sovereignty of the nation. Therefore we do not recognise and sovereignty claims by the Glorious Republic of Leafanistan nor The Principality of Damirez. The Northern Colonies Government would prefer the resolution of this conflict through diplomatic means.

OOC: I'm might break the fourth wall slightly, bear with me, I know a few countries that us RL backgrounds and I'll try to integrate them. I will reference what you said in the peace conference, as Mike Toreno was secretly attending.

Declaration of the Unified Colonial Authority of the Glorious Republic of Leafanistan

The Northern Colonies Government has this naive sense about it. Many have said there is a time for diplomacy and there is a time for action. Let us justify the time for action and destroy any mistaken belief that diplomacy will solve its policy.

In the bad days of the Cold War, the hegemonic Americans supported some dictators that weren't so savory. The dictators promised reforms, drew up constitutions, and then promptly threw them out the window and continued being monsters. A thousand handsome Che Gueveras both sides were paraded about as saviors and such.

First, let us speak of your foreign aid.

"We understand that the war had bad affects on your economy, and we are willing to give you financial aid to rebuild it, in exchange for more civil rights in your nation.

initially, our corporations and companies shall invest in your markets and economy, to make sure they are rebuilding fast and the economy of yours is growing.

second, we will send you monthly food and drug (medicines) packs to help your population.

but your nation must establish a law against rapers, establish a certain level of education program (with our helping ofcourse.) and give more civil rights to your citizens.

what you say?"

The idea of giving a loan to your ne'er do well cousin on the condition he changes his behavior has the noble sentiment that all nations should aspire to have. But the track record for such loans is poor and clear in its intent.

The IMF gives a loan in the year 2000, which heralds a reduction in teachers salaries and dramatic increases in fuel and electricity prices. A massive protest erupts, and Ecuador falls into chaos. Of course this is only one example. Other states that have gone into complete state collapse in the late 20th century with loans like this to corrupt government.

A short list is, Afghanistan, Angola, Burundi, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan and Zaire. On average they spent some 2 years under a foreign loan package before going into complete collapse and anarchy.

Let us bring another example of loan irregularities, Turkey received loans, but under all the costs, from roads to hospitals, there is something very large.

"Other items, net."

What is an "Other items, net"? We could not quantify this, no one could, and this mysterious number with no backing or records, made up an astounding 25% of the foreign aid lost.

Lets go over other failed foreign aid initiatives to change the countries. Lets see the difference between IMF numbers and internal numbers.

Bulgaria: -0.1%
Burundi: -12.8%
Gabon: 94.8%
Lesotho: 17.8%
Mali: 13.7%
Turkey: 1.6%
Uruguay: -167.1%

Whats to say that Lebanese Australia won't be corrupt. There is no reason to believe that Lebanese Australia won't turn around with these funds and do no reform whatsoever and simply take advantage of us.

Diplomacy won't work, and will never work, this type of reform never works.

OOC: OOCly, I've got to disagree with the IMF and WB track records in the real world - they're actually doing fairly well in the states that no one hears about any more - they've begun to do well so they no longer make the news - such as India, which now has about an 8% annual growth rate. Since India is about one seventh of the world's population, even if they failed everywhere else, that's still pretty impressive. ICly, though, Undershi will always favor its CA brother, although it won't get involved.

OOC: Those states were doing poorly before the IMF/WB interfered and their interference did nothing. India got foreign aid equivalent of half a penny a day per Indian. You are telling me less than $2 per Indian per year helped India climb out of economic stagnation?

Let us not be the 'arrogant Westerners' thinking we can educate the 'backward' children of the Third World. The real answer wasn't the Top-Down Planning rhetoric of the World Bank as they so proudly claim. It had to do with homegrown development, without interference from the World Bank.

Specifically in India, it was a private information school called the 'National Institute of Information Technology' that when started in the early 1980s became so popular they had to make franchises. They brought the NIIT to small towns and large cities. They became the McDonald's of schools, standardizing classrooms, teacher training, and advertising. They also had frequent audits and rigorous exams.

This created a new educated middle class. In fact this success in IT helped created the Indian economic success of outsourced IT services. The most interesting thing is that NIIT certification is so sought in the world today, in India it is common to put NIIT graduate in singles ads.

Was the NIIT created by some World Bank or IMF initiative? Nope, it was a homegrown force that really changed India's economy.

OOC: Regarding the IMF I have only words of praise for them. They do a wonderful job in screwing a country. Just looking at their 'golden child' Argentina and you get the picture. They were flaunting around the success it had only to be faced with one of the greatest crisis in Argentinian history.
