::: An Open Letter to the International Community :::
Greetings.
My name is Daniel Saros. I am a member of the Foreign Affairs Subcouncil of the Republic of Steel and Fire; and today, stamped with the blessing of the Triumvirate and President of the Republic, I bring a proposal before the international community.
My proposal is that like-minded nations set aside political and religious differences and open a trading sphere via which to further mutual interests; rather than being organised as a formal alliance with a charter and regional government, this sphere will simply consist of a loosely organised group of states that come to decisions democratically—either as a whole or in small groups. This sphere, which I have dubbed the Democratic League of Organised States (or Delos for short) unless someone can think of a better name, would establish a strong global trade network, stimulate economic growth in memberstates, and improve relations between nations of differing political, religious, economic, and social viewpoints.
I come before the international community today to ask whether anyone would be interested in such a league. Suggestions and advice would be welcomed; more so, those who wish to join this bloc. Delos as I envision it is barred only to those governments who have funded maritime piracy or otherwise impeded freedom of the seas; and due to its pursuit of mutual goals, its members cannot be openly hostile to one another, as that could tear apart the alliance. However, any further conditions or provisions are still up for debate.
Once again, any interested parties, please write back.
