The president of Alfegos walked through the evening rain to the senate building. The 4 story abstract glass structure stood tall in the rain. Inside, wating were all the ministers and their departmental heads, ready to begin the peace talks.

Now all they needed were the Drvarskan representitives. Hopefully, they would draft some sort of mutual peace relationship, and not attack each other for the time being in Alestra.

He hoped they could soon end the war, without having to pull out due to these peace talks.

"After the proximity to nuclear war this morning, the president will meet the Drvarskans in this city to debate a ceasefire between our two nations.

First though, how did this situation ever occur?"

The SIS forces were spread inconspicously thorughout the city, ready to protect the presidents in case any terrorists tried an attack, or any Alfegosian national fanatic.

They were all armed with non-lethal weapons, so any attackers could suffer a fate worse than death.

The president of Drvarska Vladimir Orlov boarded a UH-60 blackhawk with a board of ministers that was escorted by two Mi-24 hinds. They reached an Alfegos airfield near the capital, there they were greeted by Alfegos personel who will escort them to the Peace conferance. Along with them was one Alfegos Intelligence minister who was captured during a raid on an Alfegos prison facility to extract a Drvarskan prisoner. Orlov reminded his ministers on what they were here to negotiate which was a ceasefire and an end to the war going on between them and possibly to withdraw their troops fighting in Alestra against the Tribal stronghold. They were on the verge of a nuclear war which couldve turned into a nuclear holocaust killing millions in both of their nations. Orlov hoped this will never happen again and that the two countries will be at peace.

The president heard the report from the IS guards, and called for silence in the Senate. He briefed the ministers on what would be discussed: ceasefire between the two nations, and the withdrawal of Drvarskan troops from Alestra, not Alfegosian.

Once that was done, the president gave permission for the T.V crews and journalists to enter the gallery above them.

The IS lieutenant accompanied the Drvarskan diplomats to the black BMWs awaiting them. The drivers then drove up to the senate hill, accompanied by police escort.

Orlov and his men approached the conferance hall where he saw many people around it blocked off by police. Some of them cheering, some of them shouting bad things. Orlov got out of the car with his representatives and headed inside the building, he emerged into a large hall where there are some Alfegos representatives and the Alfegos president. Orlov approached the president and extended his hand.

"At last we meet in person." Orlov said to him.

The Intelligence minister was kept inside the Blackhawk guarded by some Drvarskan soldiers. They were not to leave the area of their aircraft under any circumstance.

The president took hold of Orlovs hand and shook it.
"For the good of our people. Do you like the senate?"

He led Orlov inside into the hall.

"I hope you have the minister of Intelligence. He is the only one missing now."

"Your senate is very nice Mr.Darel" Orlov said as he walked into the hall.

"There is no need to worry, your minister is secured at your airbase. We will hand him over after the peace talk."

Orlov walked into the hall with his representatives and sat in some chairs. Orlov looked around with amazement on how nicely structured the hall is, he noticed the press watching above them.

Once everyone was seated, the president rose to begin proceedings:
"We are here to dicuss the ceasefire between the nations of the People's Republic of Alfegos and the Republic of Drvarska.

As you all are aware, the situation between our two nations recently escalated to the point where nuclear war could have started. We wish to first impose a ceasefire between our two nations, and secondly attempt to bring in place a treaty that will stop such an event happening again.

I now invite Mr Orlov here to speak what he wants. After that, the house is open for questions."

The president sat down.

President Orlov stood up.

"Our country is a small country but we are a strong one. In the event of a nuclear war we would probably not last that long, we hope that our nation and your nation never witness the mass destruction of what our nations weapons are capable of. The Republic of Drvraska and myself would wish to propose a ceasefire that would withdraw our troops from Alestra as well. In advance we also wish to establish a peace treaty so that the recent events we have been invovled in never happen again. Such a ceasefire could enable both our countries to have access to new relations which could improve both of our economys."

Orlov sat down.

The minister for war stood.

"My fellow men, we all can agree that a ceasefire between our two countries would be a good idea. But to let down our ally in Alestra? That would be unacceptable. We are there to try and end the opression caused by the Colonial alliance on the natives.
You may not agree with this, but we will not let down our allies. Therefore, I am sure that the rest of you agree?"

All the other ministers nodded.

"If anyone wishes to pull out of Alestra, it would have to the the Drvarskans. Is that agreeable, Mr Orlov?"

"Yes, that is agreeable as we see no reason for us to be in this war anyway. Our casualty reports are getting heavier and heavier each week, many of our men have been killed mainly due to bombings that TS forces and its allies have sent at us. We had to replace over a thousand men within a month after one attack. We understand that you do not wish to withdraw your troops, but it is in the best interest of the Drvarskans to become neutral again and live in peace until we are called upon a war where there is a good reason to fight."

Orlov said and then his defence minister stood up.

"As well as the high casualty rate we have recieved no support at all from our allies. Most of the time our troops have been killed because we were aiding them in battle or in the middle of a diversionary attack that turned out to be a disaster. For example, one diversionary attack and we lost two battalions of our finest trained soldiers and they did not get to fire a single round at the enemy because their naval artillery was too powerful."

He sat back down in his chair, Orlov nodded to him.

The president rose.

"Does anyone else have any questions? If not, we will have a vote for ceasefire in the house. Orlov?"

He turned to the Drvarskan president.

Orlov's ministers did not have any questions and looked at him.

"We have no further questions, Mr Darel. Please go ahead with the vote." Orlov said as his ministers watched with curiosity. This would be their first peace treaty meeting in their careers.

"As we have surprising little objection to a peace treaty, we will have a vote. Who is in favour in the Alfegos senate?"

All hands were raised.

"Good. It seems, Orlov, we have a deal. We will sign the ceasefire tomorrow at midday. As for now, the senate is dismissed."

As the ministers left, the president apporached the Drvarskans.

"You will be staying over at the presidential palace tonight. It's on the seafront: I think you'll like it. The cars are waiting outside."

"Thank you Mr.Darel, we will look forward to it tomorrow."

He shook the presidents hand and left the building with his own ministers. They were taken to a hotel out on a seafront. Orlov had a brief word with his ministers.

"It is all going well, dont you think?" Orlov said.

"Yes sir, I must say it feels strange that just yesterday we were about to authenticate every nuclear missle in the nation and now we are here signing a peace treaty." His defence minister said as he looked over the sea front.

"Yes, well I do think we are doing what is right. It would be a shame to see both of our nations in rubble." Orlov said as he looked around and watched some of the people go by.

"Well gentlemen I will see you tomorrow."

They walked into the hotel.

Alfegos Air base

Reports came back that they were staying the night, the soldiers around the helicopters piched up tents but the Alfegos minister was still kept under watch.

OOC:The presidential palace is like the white house.

IC: The president accompanied the Drvarskans to his residence, the presidential palace. The cars passed thourgh the gardens, before they stopped in the circle outside the main entrance.

"My guests, this is my house, until the elections! Make it your home for tonight. Your rooms are on the second floor, on the guest corridor. You may go there now if you like, or join me in the games room for some poker!"

OOC: Ok gotcha.

IC:
"Thank you Mr.Darel this is a very nice palace, I would like to join you in a game of poker." Orlov said and turned around asking any of his ministers, his defence minister accepted to come but the other ministers were tired after staying up all night back in Drvarska during the crisis.

"My defence minister will come as well, this is Yuri Kolvek." Orlov said.

"An honor to meet you sir." Kolvek said extending his arm.

The ministers walked into the building and to their rooms.

"Good" said the president, proceeding to the games room. In the centre was a pool table, which was folded down by two servenats into a Poker table.

"Ingenious, isn't it? Anyway, let us begin."

They pulled up some chairs, and the president shuffled, before dealing.

"Very well." Orlov said taking a seat with his minister.

They played for about half an hour, Orlov was not going so well but Kolvek was doing better than him.

"Would you mind if I light up a cigar?" Orlov said as he got out three Drvarskan cigars from his briefcase offering one to the president and his minister.

"I don't smoke, but I don't mind you smoking at all." He looked at his watch.

"Dinner is in half an hour. Anything else you wish to do in the meantime? We can probably do whatever you want."

"I think it will be best if we got some sleep thank you Mr.Darel, as you know if has been a busy day and the helicopter flight here was rather tiring. Sorry we could not stick around to dinner." Orlov said as he got up from the table.

He offered to shake the president's hand.

"I will see you tomorrow."

The president shook it.
"Don't worry. If you need, just use your room phone."

Theyleft, and the president opened the door on the right of the room. He went through a few more rooms, before arriving at the office. There he slumped down in his chair.

"Bring me a Tequila Sunset" he called to his staff. One was brought
"I think that was the most simple peace treaty I have ever signed!"

Orlov walked into the room, he was very impressed on how well designed it was. He took off his uniform and went to sleep.

The next day he woke up as the sunlight came through his window, he got changed again and refreshed himself in the bathroom. He walked into the hallway where his other ministers were coming out of their rooms as well.

They all had a brief chat on what was going to happen today and then they walked towards the main hall.

In the main hall of the presidential palace, the president was waiting.

"First we shall have breakfast! Afterwards, we will sign this treaty in the senate. I ask you, my new found friends: do you like bacon and eggs?"

"Of course!" said one of the ministers and Orlov looked at him, they all were smiling.

"It has been a while but I always do enjoy beacon and eggs." Orlov said smiling. At the Drvarskan Palace the breakfast was usually an array of soups.

The ministers were seated and enjoyed their breakfast. Orlov faced the president.

"Mr. Darel, your hospitallity is so nice here and we thank you."

"It is not a problem: We treat all foreign governments in the same way. Now to the treaty. Once signed, it shall signify peace for the lifetime of our nations!"

"Yes that sounds good. Mr.Darel are you interested in coming to Drvarska for a day while we have a military parade once we finish our peace treaty? It is to mark those who have fallen during the conflict between us and in Alestra and it would be a great honor to have you there. We could at the same time discuss some trade we can do between our nations or perhaps a small aliance once our nations familiarize eachother." Orlov said as he finished the breakfast and stood up with his ministers.

He looked around once more at the palace building admiring the nice architecture.

"That will be brilliant. My private jet should be ready to take us over, once the treaty is signed in Senate. Then it can be ratified by your government."

They had finished now.

"In a minute, we can proceed to the drive, where a car is waiting to pick us up."

"Thank you Mr.Darel, I am sure you will get a warm welcome there." Orlov said putting on his cap and looking briefly at some paintings on a wall.

He noticed the cars coming to pick them up, his ministers picked up their briefcases and made their way out.

At the senate, the audience gallery was filled with cheering people. On the dome of the senate, the flags of the two nations had been draped.

The president stood and spoke:
"This treaty before us, about to be signed, represents the peace between our nations. Now we shall sign it!"

The president signed, and passed the large gold pen to Orlov.

"Thank you Mr.Darel" said Orlov smiling and he signed the treaty.

"Your minister shall be returned now."

Alfegos Airbase

An officer came up to the minister.

"The treaty has been signed and you are free to go." he said passing his personal items back with the gun.

"Good" he said, before walking off out of the airport. There, he took a taxi to the ministry of war. There, he signed in, went through the usual procedures, before he was allowed to go home.

The captured men in the ministry were let out, accompanied by armed guard to the airport.

Behind them were two lorries with the Drvarskan flag draped over their sides.

"OK then" said the president.
"Do you want to go back on my private plane or on your helicopter? Hopefully, the journey shouldn't be too long."

"If you do not mind Mr.Darel, our helicopter will be used to take our soldiers home. If you have a few extra chairs in your plane it would be greatly appreciated. It should not be a long flight." Orlov said.

The soldiers were escorted to the choppers where they were airlifted out and on their way back home to Drvarska along with the fallen.

"That will be OK. How long do you think the flight will be? I've never been to Drvarska."

The plane taxied on the runway, before taking off to the flash of the media cameras.

"It should take about and hour and a half to get there. The weather should be nice and sunny there this week." Orlov said watching the media outside the plane.

The plane quickly reached cruising altitude of 30 000 ft. Once there, the captain called that seatbelts may be taken off.

The president swung his cahir round to face Orlov.

"Do you want any refreshments at all?"

"Just some water please thank you Darel." Orlov said looking out the window. A couple ministers asked for water or some other beverage.

About an hour into the flight Orlov looked out the window again after reading a book.

"Ah Drvarska, we are here. I do hope you enjoy your stay in our homeland. You will be sleeping at my palace as well, all of the rooms have nice views of the our nation captial Drvar." Orlov said as he turned to Darel.

Drvarskan main Airport

A couple companies of soldiers rushed out of their barracks after recieving reports of the plane coming in. They all assembled into perfect lines outside the main terminal to greet their president and the Alfegos guests. An Alfegos and Drvarskan flag was raised.

The presidential plane touched down among the ranks of infantry. It then slowed down gracefully to a halt.

The door opened, and both presidents stepped out into the sunshine. Behind them, two other Alfegos planes, old C-130As, touched down, carrying intotal 30 of the Praetorian homeland guard. They would be responsible for security, and would take part in the procession.

Behind, in the distance,t he helicopters carrying the fallen men came slowly into view, ready to touch down in the cpaital.

OOC: The palace is like the Kremlin in Moscow. Except Drvar is very clean.

IC:
"Welcome to Drvarska Darel. I hope you enjoy it here." Orlov said as they both waved to the croud that was cheering and waving both of the nations flags.

"Today you may enjoy the scenery and relax a little and tomorrow the parade will comence along with a memorial service." Orlov said afterwards.

They were taken into two armoured limozines that were escorted by two trucks of the Alfegos home guard and Drvarskan Palace guards.

The streets were patrolled by police officers and Anti-terrorist units to ensure the safety of the guests.

The fallen and survivors of the assault team landed in the helicopters and were escorted to greet their families and the fallen to the memorial service grounds that would be conducted tomorrow.

The president looked out of his window at the city: it was much more beautiful than the capital of Alfegos, with many old buildings. But then, all the buildings in the capital were destroyed in the first Alfegos civil war.

The cars slowed down as they came to the palace. It was beautiful, with many towering spires capped with colourful domes.

"This looks a lot better on the outside than the Alfegos presidential palace: I hope it's like that on the inside!" joked the president.

They stepped out of the car, and into the massive palace. The hall they walked into was filled with many wonderous paintings and sculptures.

"These are all yours?"

Orlov smiled as they both looked at the paintings.

"Many of the previous presidents had many portraits painted of them by Drvarska's most talented artists. Your rooms are on the second floor down the coridors. We have many personel who would escort you if you accidentally get lost.
There are many things for you to do here in Drvar, you can tour around the city at some historical sights, you can go to an opera or one of my personal favourites are the Jazz clubs. If you like to go out just call the front desk and we will have a guide for you. Unless you would prefer and stay here and relax for today, tomorrow will be very busy." Orlov said.

Outside a newly made apartment complex was used to house the Alfegos home guards. Around the city the military patrolled the streets.

"I think that I will go out soon to sample the delights of your country. This evening, we can talk about diplomacy regarding our two nations, and enjoy your beautiful residence."

"Very well, I do hope you enjoy Drvar. Unfortuantly I am unable to come with you but I have to sort out some orders with my military ministers about withdrawing troops in Alesia." Orlov said as he called over a guide.

"Good day sir, I will escort you around Drvar. I do reconmend we see some of our historic sights and perhaps you would like to walk around our city and experience our culture." the guide said to the president.

Outside an armoured limozine was waiting for them that would tour the Alfegos president around for the next few hours.

OOC: We can skip ahead to the diplomacy discussion if you would like.

That evening, the president arrived back, ahving seen the sights of the capital.

"Thankyou very much for that. But now, I think, is the more important matter of relations in future between our nations. Lets discuss that over dinner".

"I am glad you enjoyed that. If you would follow me the dinner room is this way." Orlov said to the president.

Orlov led him down a hall with many paintings between doors and into a large dinner room with a big round table. There were some of Orlov's ministers already seated. A waiter helped the president to his chair and took an order from him.

"Now let us discuss some open relations our two countries could have. I propose we have trade agreements, we can supply your country with computer technology or if you need it we have a small uranium mining buissness but that will only be traded under a military alliance. Would you like to form an alliance or is there proposal you would wish to offer us?" Orlov said sitting at the table.

A waiter walked in and poured wine for the guests.

The president responded.
"I have been given permission to talk with you a trade agreement, but nothing more. Do you have anythin else to offer? Our country has most of the minerals it needs, except of course Manganese, Tin, Antimony, Germanium and Chromium. And we have a very good computing industry as well.

That reminds me. Do you have any food at all? Our nation would like a bit more varied food, as we currently are self-sufficent, at the cost of variety. But we needn't be self-sufficient.

So, what food can you offer us? We can offer you practically whatever you want. I can say that we have quite a few tropical goods."

"Well we still do have a trout farming industry in the south of Drvarska, perhaps you would like some. We could use some more metal as our arms industries are running a little low lately, we could perhaps import some metal of yours to produce ERA armour for our tanks.
Do you want to perhaps arrange a embassy exchange for our nations? This could be much easier for us to negotiate with Alfegos." Orlov said.

OOC: I know of your embassy exchange thread.

"I think that that would be best" said the president. "I think that the fish might be an idea, as we currently need to make up for a deficit in food, casued by the rains this year. And the metal, well, we can easily provide that. We have huge deposits in our country, and soon we'll be getting processed shipments from our colony, New Alfegos."

"As well as this, I think we can offer you prefered nation ststus as well. Would that be OK? The people wouldn't object, though they would not be fully supportive of military support"

"Yes, I do beleive that would be good as well to accept your generous offer. I hope that both our peoples get to know eachother well. Our fish can be transported to you by sea direct from our leading company DNTF (Drvarskan National Trout Farming), it is perhaps one of the largest trout farming companies established throughout the region."

"Good. The metal can be transported simply to your sea ports. Look for AREM: Alfegos Rare Earth Metals. They'll be the ones carrying the refined minerals.

That sorted, I have some other ideas that I can discuss with you, and have the power to put into action. The first one is prefered immigration: that being you receive in immigration status of 3.

It may sound bad, but means that you don't need a VISA, and only need your passport seen at security and x-ray scan. Most of the time, we are more paranoid about security."

The presidents phone rang quickly. It was a message from the government.

"Oh, and I think I have an answer to our relations level. It seems senate have voted to up your stance to ally. I don't know the majority, but that sounds good. So, what do you say to more open borders, eh?"

"Then its settled about trade agreements." Orlov responded

"Opening up borders is a good idea. We understand the immigration status, our country is also strict about this, each citizen requires a passport at all times with a valid i.d.
This is good news to hear and that we shall become good allies in near future, for now we need to clean up some problems occuring in our country and from there we will co-operate more."

An orderly came in with a typed up agreement for the trade rights and set it on the table between the two presidents, Orlov produced a pen from his jacket and signed it. He offered it over to Darel.

"If we sign here we can make the trade agreements official." he said.

Darel read through it quickly.

"This seems to be in order"

He scribbled at the bottom his signature, then handed it back to the Drvarskan president.

"To the glory of our nations!"

"Well I think its settled then. Now we should get some sleep for tomorrow. If you need anything just call the front desk and somebody will help you." Orlov said as he got up from the table.

Drvarska Main Military Base

Soldiers began to polish their boots and clean their uniforms as one of the largest military parades was about to commence tomorrow. Some 200,000 soldiers and various armour, aircraft groups were to attend and march down the streets of Drvar (capital) and into the main square which is a vast open concrete square with a large statue in the middle. From there both the presidents will watch the parade.

That next morning, Darel woke up as sun began to creep through his window. It was 6h 00. He usually woke up at that time.

He got changed, then sent a few emails via his palmtop to the government.

Finally, he left the room, and went down to breakfast.

Orlov was woken up at 6:00am as well and his maid came in and opened the windows. His tailor walked in as well with his military uniform that was fully cleaned and with polished medals. He put it on and refreshed himself then walked down to meet Darel in the breakfast hall where a large buffet was put out. The breakfast was to last half an hour and afterwards the two presidents with their ministers were to be escorted down the streets to the main square where a stand was set up to observe the parade.

The horn sounded and soldiers rushed out of their barracks and into the assembly area for inspection. Some 5,000 T-90 tanks were started up along with 20,000 other vehicles and were forming along the widely spread road.

At 0800 AM the presidents were at the stand and the parade commenced, the whole city was there watching from the streets and windows of buildings.

Division after division of soldiers marched down the streets, Orlov saluted them as they passed by. Above the SU-37 fighter planes flew in formation trailing an assortment of smoke colours from their tails, afterwards a few Mi-24 hind platoons began circling the city and executing menuvers.

As the president walked through the city, he was escorted either side by 10 Praetorian guards, each with an Orange/blue sash, and weraing black dress uniform. Their gleaming rifles waved up and down as they marched along in gleaming boots.

"Looks like quite a spectacle you've put on. I'm quite impressed. I thought I might help a bit."

Overhead, 3 expermental XC - 07s streaked across, the shockwave of their pass roaring across the streets. Behind them, the orange and blue streamers twisted into helix patterns.

They circled, then came back at sub sonic speeds, showering the area with confetti.

Orlov watched the jets as they flew overhead, his cap fell off as they came right over their heads. Picking it up he was impressed.

"Mr.Darel these are very interesting aircraft you have here. I also impressed with your guards."

A Drvarskan Palace Guard came rushing over with his KAR98 rifle (traditional weapon) in one hand and a paper in the other. He handed it to Orlov and stood to attention, his uniform was olive green with red shoulder pads.

"Fix yor cap" said Orlov as he handed the paper back to the soldier who obeyed and saluted returning to his post.

"It seems that there is some odd activity in the south of the city, some sort of a hold up. The APC carriers will be late." Orlov said to one of his ministers.

They approached the stand where they watched all the soldiers fall into ranks and line up in front of them.

Is it ok if I start in this thread a conflict that will rise in my country. Theres going to be a civil war at one point and thought maybe here is a good point to start it. I am aware of the relations but I have been planning this for a while. Thanks.

The two presidents watched the soldiers in front of them performing menurvers and marches.

A lone ex-soldier Jovek Kilov sat near his window of his apartment room and watched the whole ceremony. With him he had a Dragunov SVD set up on a small stand just 1 meter away from the window. He stood up and loaded it with the 10 round magazine. Jovek was a member of the Sovreska Communist Party (SCP) which is a group that was once loyal to the corrupt dictator that ruled Drvarska nearly 40 years ago and ever since they planned to regain control of the government and rule the land of Sovreska again (now Drvarska). Today was the plan to start havoc in the capital of Drvar and this was the perfect opputunity.

Slowly he cocked the SVD and took aim through the scope at the two presidents...

Orlov was looking around very proud of his army when he noticed a shining light from a building not too far away. Orlov was once a member of the army and trained in the airborne commandos. He knew exactly what it was and suddenly pushed himself down along with the Alfegos president.

"Sniper!! Sniper!! Building corner of Yirov street!" he yelled at his soldiers. Before he had a chance to speak to Darel a shot rang over their heads.

"Quick follow me. Theres a sniper and we must get away." he told him and began to crawl towards the armoured vehicle closest to them.

Soldiers everywhere broke ranks and some ran to aid the presidents while others set off to hunt down the sniper.
