After the rise of the great depression in 1929 the economy suffered greatly giving rise to a sepratist movement. The movement gained momentum in the early thirties and was greatly fueled by the rise of Fascism in Germany and Italy. A young woman gained ever growing support from the military promising to restore order and make sure the country was safe from the sky pirates. In 1934 the states of Delware and Maryland split off from the USA, taking Washington and whatever remained of the central government with them. A month later Pensylvania joined the two states now known as the Shakal Empire under the leadership of a girl barly even considered an adult.
