Suprise and Terror!

Sound, although rather meaningless in space, carrys some importance to the overall presentation of any particular drama which takes place pretty much anywhere. Since theres nothing in space to carry sound, though, you dont get a whole lot of it. So we'll just have to use our imaginations.
For instance, the sound made by the vessel which just popped into existance quite in the middle of nowhere running on emergency power and tumbling rather helplessly, might have made a sound something like 'derp' on its entry into the universe, had, of course, there been anything to carry that sound.
There wasnt. So it didnt.
It did, however, broadcast a message, which was quite audible.
Greetings horribly beweaponed denizens of the galaxy! This is Spathi Captain Yuffi, commanding the great Spathi Space Armada which has come to claim new worlds for the Great Spathi Empire, which will bring down its mighty wrath upon all those who dare to attack its exploration fleets! Cower in fear!
Although it would be a simple matter for our poweful and terrible ships to convert this entire sector into free floating particles of dust, we will be quite merciful and offer not to do so in exchange for fuel, because we presently lack it. You see, this is the thing, while we are of course terribly terribly afraid to contact the hostile races of this particular area, we are somewhat more afraid of dying slowly by starvation and freezing in the middle of nowhere and then being eaten by horrible space beasts or something.
So, any help here would be quite appreciated, provided you remember our fleet of horribly beweaponed star cruisers waiting in hyperspace to wreak atomic wrath on any who dare to violate the sanctity of Spathi nuetrality and...stuff like that.

Spathi Captain Yuffi was not having a good day, it seemed.
Presently he was withdrawn into his shell and refusing to come out. His stated reason was oxygen conservation and that he didnt want anybody else stealing his air. When it was pointed out that the Spathi shell was not, in fact, air tight the captain screamed at the crew to get out of his quarters and defend the ship from a passing asteroid which some of them thought might have been threatening.
Nothing much else happened.

The stranded Spathi begin to feel very unloved for some reason. In a few the emotion even overwhelms their constant state of near-panic and they have to go and have a lie down or engage in the Spathi equivalent of a group hug.
