Parliament has approved a bill allowing the acceptance of 10,000 Iraqi refugees through the remainder of 2007 and the year 2008. The new bill allocated 100,5 million New Pound Sterling for the aid of the refugees (US$ 138,3 million UK£67,8 million C$145,8m).

“This is a good first step, however, I would hope to see some improvement.”, said Michael O'Dowd, director of the Bureau of Refugee Affairs, a governmental office under the jurisdiction of the New Brittonian Foreign Ministry.

Since the US-led invasion of Iraq, over 2.000.000 Iraqis have been displaced with another 2.000.000 internally displaced inside Iraq.

Refugees will be given a free place to live for up to three years. The bill includes plans to assimilate the refugees into Brittonian society. For one to be a citizen of New Brittonia, refugees included, one must have passed tests of having at least a secondary education equivalent to one of New Brittonia, passed tests about the government and history of New Brittonia, and be fluent in two official languages of New Brittonia, a bonus for the refugees as Arabic is one of them, and a basic level of proficiency in one minority language of New Brittonia.

The United Socialist States of New Brittonia has historically accepted many refugees. The most recent example of this was the acceptance of 30.000 furries from the conflict ridden area of the Free Furry Islands and all other nations with a shown history of discrimination of furries.

The United Socialist States of New Brittonia has never given any opinion on the Iraq War, keeping with its long standing tradition of not giving official opinions on other nations wars and conflicts.

OOC: there is no Iraq, and no US. The US could nuke the world and the only thing that would affect NS is the EMP.

OOC: We would appreciate other nations' responces.

OOC: BTW, what has happened to Iragia in the end? Kinda missed the end of this story.

OOC: well considering that you are taking refugees from places that aren't in the NS world, the ruffugees don't exist ICly.

OOC: This is Iraq, the RL nation of Iraq, I'm RP'ing my NS nation's responce to a RL problem.

OOC: Iraq does not exist here. Neither does the RL world. So RL problems are not real. Its a parrel universe.

OOC: So if there's no Iraq, how can you have a response to a situation in Iraq? RL events do not effect NS events at all. Ever.

OOC: Yeah, I just meant about that our recent story, a question to those who kept watch till the end.

This is Iraq, the RL nation of Iraq, I'm RP'ing my NS nation's responce to a RL problem.
Perhaps should work, actually. Just considering Iraq to be NPC nation. Though there's no NPC US for sure or it would be noticed.
I guess by 900th post you understand the specifics, but still, may require a bit of background first.

OOC- I wouuldn't say that. I do think that people are inspired a bit from RL events. I remember my parliment bombing thread was insired by the Edinburgh airport attempted attack. I just took that concept one step further.

OOC: I wanted it to work, I thought it could be a trend-setter. That NS nations can respond to RL evnts, I guess that people did not like that idea. BTW, thanks, but I really don't know about NS as I think I do, appairently.

Well, establishing RL nations in NS universe would mean they'd have to somehow survive, and be recognized... There are Earths - places with sometimes much finer but more restricted RP - but they're still alternate. I guess the idea of NS-RL linkage has a bit too complex implications. Recall something like that being attempted in early 2004, but to no visible result.

The beginning of any game is the most entertaining and enjoyable time. Definitely worth experiencing from all angles.
Actually it's not uncommon for people with fresh registration date to be just old players starting a new game or a puppet. BTW, the aforementioned Iragia, IIRC joined in March, also was clearly an experienced player.

And playing teh Internet promises so much lulz that it's more than a reason... Now let's see if the community is open-minded enough today to recognize such a thing.

OC: Oh, crap. . . *runs off and fights a giant chicken*

Anyways, I would give aid, except i dunno how I can give aid to a series of interconnected tubes.

Well then. . . this concept is ruined.

OOC: Well, maybe, not entirely... There might be similar nations here. Say, Iragia was exactly meant to be Iraq, though now it seems to be gone. But might be others. Non-furry, I mean.

P.S. The series of tubes need, of course, more plumbing - servers of their own, of course promotion of Internet usage, and anything crazy that comes to mind, the weirder, the better... Just imagine the most addicted bunch from the Interweb /b/oards forming a nation, dedicated to it, but unable to really materialize it, because most of them live only on the web.
