3:54 AM, Central Command Executive Building, Greater Economic Union of New Manth
The planning had been in the works for months. The upcoming attack against Vizion in Cazelia was still a state secret, known only to a select few in the government. The planned war against the New Prussian Empire was slightly less clandestine, but still no official word had been given of Manthian intentions.
Even before the wars started, however, there would need to be massive preparations. Already measures had been taken - factories were being switched over to wartime production, reserves were being mobilized, and the entire economy was gearing up for war. Tens of thousands of missiles, ships, tanks and planes would be rolling off the assembly lines in the coming weeks, and the size of the Manthian military was expected to swell to over twenty million before either conflict started. The country would soon be fighting in two massive wars on different fronts, and every last drop of blood and sweat that could be milked out of the economy would be more than necessary.
And then of course the strategic position needed to be improved. Dozens of plans were being drawn up - among many, a preliminary invasion of Saudi Arabia to secure oil supplies was in the works, anti-submarine listening devices would soon be deployed throughout the Mediterranean and the near Pacific, and border fortifications and coastal artillery were being massively beefed up.
One such plan concerned the nation of Israelksitan. A tiny nation compared to the eight hundred million odd Greater Economic Union, the Manthians' northern neighbor had been more or less ignored previously. A few border disputes here and there, and noone from Manth liked the Jews much. But in all relations had been uneventful.
That would soon change. Not only was Manth in dire need of new sources of production and money, but Israelkistan sat disturbingly close to the Suez. After the conquest of Saudi Arabia, the Canal would become critical as the highway of oil to the rest of the Greater Economic Union. And when any of New Manth's enemies could force or cajole their way into Israelkistan and easily shell the canal with long-range artillery, that was a simply unacceptably strategic situation.
Four armored divisions had been quietly activated and moved into the Sinai. They were officially there for exercises, joined by the Thirty-Third Mechanized and the 453rd Airborne to practice combined-arms tactics with Denomination of the Air Force planes in the open desert of northern Egypt. Even the soldiers had not been informed of the real purposes behind the deployment.
Similarly, the battleship U.S. Alexandria lay a few dozen miles off the enemy coastline, accompanied by her battle group. She was purportedly there to patrol the sea lanes and enforce the border between Manth and Israelkistan. Four other battleship battlegroups 'just happened' to be in the Mediterranean north of Suez, and dozens of submarines had also converged on the area.
OOC: Israelkistan, would you be so kind as to roughly describle the current military situation in your nation?
