Sumguaian Daily Times:

The Holy Hegemonic Empire will be electing a new Emperor on Wednesday of next week. There are several popular candidates for the position who's holder wields almost supreme power over the international policy and actions of the Empire, but they will have a very difficult time defeating the hugely popular incumbent, Lord Sumguy, who's approval rating is currently at 92%. The three leading candidates are as follows:

Lord Sumguy (title, no name given), Sumguaian Republican Party:

Lord Sumguy is the founder of our nation and the current Emperor. He intends to make few changes other than to increase the budget for humanitarian aid and to give away more of the nation's food surplus. He also wishes to establish stronger ties with British Londinium and Sumatripte, and take a more active role within the Hegemony. Lord Sumguy is the founder of the Abrahamic League, a paramilitary organization that mainly focuses upon charity and helping police capture wanted criminals, but has also been involved in recent conlficts within Sumatripte. Lord Sumguy cut all ties to the AL three years ago, and is currently working to reduce the organization's military power. Under Lord Sumguy's rule, the economy has nearly tripled in size, and international trade has been dramatically increased.

John Brooks, Social Nationalist Party:

John Brooks is a leading figure among the SNP, or fascist party of The Holy Hegemonic Empire. He says that if he is elected, military spending will be dramatically increased, and military action taken against all "enemies of the Empire who have dared to spill Sumguaian blood.". John Brooks is also suspected to be a member of the radical terrorist group Sons of the Empire.

George Baker, Sumguaian People's Party:

George Baker is the leader of the communist party known as the SPP, the remnants of the foreign communist regime overthrown by Lord Sumguy and the Abrahamic League eight years ago. If elected, Mr. Baker wishes to have the Empire become isolationist, cutting off all trade and closing the Empire's borders to all nations, as well as banning all religious worship. He claims that he would bring back "The worker's paradise that Lord Sumguy and the fanatics who followed him destroyed."

Lord Sumguy is the expected winner of the race, having 86% of the vote in recent polls, although anything could happen in between now and the end of the election.

OOC: The paper said that they are the most popular candidates, not the only ones. I'm not really basing this off of the poll results, the candidate I want will win, this is just an RP of the process. Lord Sumguy is a moderate...

OOC: Why are there no moderates? There's the guy you clearly want to win, and two extremist nutjobs.

Official Communiqué

Open Declaration:

The People's Sovereign Republic challenges the validity of this election for the Sumgese emperor. Looking at the candidates, it is painfully apparent that there are absolutely no moderates - a bizarre occurrence for any election. I submit that Lord Sumguy is directly or indirectly rigging the elections for emperor.

As a statement of our protest, we will be adding to the military garrison in Sumatripte forthwith and adding further regulations and restrictions to Sumgese trade.

Sincerely,
