The Eyrellian Empire
The white marble of the Grand Hall in the Patriarchal Church shone from the natural light pouring in from the large windows on both the right and left sides of the building. Above a magnificent crystal chandelier shone in the center of the vaulted roof. The walls were draped in red tapestry showing the Imperial Coat of Arms.
First to walk down the center was the Eyrellian Patriarch, the silver haired man glanced to the people on his left and right and smiled faintly. In his hands, resting on a velvet cushion, was the Imperial Crown. His white robes fluttered gently behind him as he walked to the marble platform at the front of the church. In the center of the platform sat a single throne, draped in red cloth; the Patriarch stood to the right side and watched as a man clothed in regal robes entered through the entrance into the Grand Hall...
Before we go into details about the Coronation of the first True Emperor, I think it is important for you to understand the history of Eyrellia prior to the birth of the empire. (This is brief and not too terribly detailed.)
Eyrellia became an independent country in 1919 shortly after the events of World War I. Being a former colony of an empire, the Eyrellian people resisted anything that resembled a monarchy, in short, the Eyrellian Republic was formed. The Republic was dominated by corrupt politicians who cared more about personal wealth than the good of the country; eventually the Eyrellian people grew tired of their ineffectual leaders and sought to overthrow the government. The rebellion that ensued was dubbed 'The People's Rebellion'. The rebels were crushed but the foundation of the republic was damaged beyond repair and it collapsed. Unable to become unified once more, the people of Eyrellia became divided into five seperate republics. By 1957 these republics were on the verge of economic and social collapse, in an effort to avoid this, the five seperate heads of state met in the old capital of Reya and drafted the constitution for a unified state. By 1958 all five republics were joined to form the Eyrellian Federation. The Federation prospered greatly for many years, but again the Eyrellian people were plagued by corrupt leaders and a failing economy. And again the people sought change. In 1996, South Eyrellia seceeded from the Federation and declared its independence. Civil War broke out by years end. Unable to sustain a war economy the Federation collapsed and along with it, all sense of unity among the Eyrellian people. By 1999 the Eyrellian Civil War had deteriorated to the point of no return, government in evey sense of the word, did not exsist. Remnants of the Federal Army and the South Eyrellian Army fought brutal micro-wars in the nations major cities. Eyrellia was shattered! By the year 2000, 20 million had perished, neither side could continue to fight, the manpower just wasn't available. Starvation and disease created chaos and looting grew worse; most of the major cities lay in ruins. The capital of Reya had been razed to the ground by South Eyrellia a two years earlier. In 2001, with most of the population dead and the countries infrastructure in tatters, leaders of the rougue military bands came together and began securing territory, the whole of Eyrellia was subdued easily. The most powerful of these warlords created the Eyrellian Empire and became the first de facto ruler of a united Eyrellia in nearly five years. The emperor's first act was to rebuild Reya, to provide a sense of central government. The city was completely rebuilt by 2005 (with substantial foreign aide). During that time the emperor had established strict economic policies to restore the economy. By 2006 most major Eyrellian cities were rebuilt, and the country's infrastructure was restored. Near the end of 2006, Eyrellia experienced and economic explosion and the Empire prospered greatly. The only tragedy came with the death of the Emperor in March of 2007. But his son would carry on his Imperial Line as, what some would call, the First True Eyrellian Emperor...
Konrad Diederich walked slowly towards the front of the Patriarchal Church. His regal robes swayed with the motion of his feet. When he reached the front of the church he sat down on the throne. The Patriarch said a short prayer in latin which Konrad repeated; the Patriarch then placed the crown on Konrads head and retrieved a small glass vile from his pocket. The vile contained Holy Oil, the Patriarch poured a small ammount onto his thumb and traced the shape of a cross on Konrads for head. He then said another prayer in latin which Konrad repeated. The Patriarch walked in front of the Emperor and sat on his knees, he bowed in front of the newly coronated emperor to the sound of thunderous applause and shouts from the people sitting in the podiums behind him.
