Granatian Super Tanker runs aground on the Reefs near the Far Echo Isles. Thousands of Barrels lost.http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/6492/byblosoilspilljpgtg6.jpg
The Devestation on one the Far Echo Isle's Beaches

Earlier today, the Crusading Dream, a Granatian Super Tanker, ran aground on the numerous Coral Reefs off of the Far Echo Isles. In the early morning light, the coral reefs are known to be hard to see, and the Captain of Crusading Dream found this out the hard way. His Super Tanker, one of the largest in the Granatian Tanker Fleet, rand aground just 7 Miles off the coast. In the process the 400,000 Barrels of Doomani Oil it was carrying was dumped into the ocean surrounding it. The oil quickly covered much of the Sea for 60 miles in any direction.

The floundering ship, was quickly abandoned by the crew and as they made their way to shore they remembered that they forgot a few things. A major one being that the engine was still running and that electricity was still going throughout the ship. When the crew arrived on shored they were bombarded by numerous people, but they refused to talk about anything until they arrived at the nearest Granatian Embassy or Conulate. Soon after a spark from the Crusading Dream ignited the oil. And like some hellish version of that scene in Free Willy, it quickly spread throughout the oil making a wall of flame nearly 40 miles square. Even now, 5 hours after it began, the Fire still rages. No estimate for the current cost of the Oil, but it is expected to be in the Millions.

"Sir, an oilspill - 400,000 barrels of it - has been announced off the coast of the Far Echo Isles." Reported a CommOff to President Kilo.

"Damn... as we continue to get greener, other countries seem to be in the reverse cycle. I want a cleanup crew sent out immediately to assist in mopping up this mess. Hopefully, Far Echo Islands demands compensation for this - say, hundreds of billions in the US Dollar, or maybe the complete handover of the company owning that ship into Far Echo hands."

'Modern Day' Pirates seeking to claim the oil hurry to the area - it was through a large electro magnet that they threw off some of the ships sensors also laying down false density pads on the surface. The best part was using a triger system to launch flat head rod shells at the bottom of the tanker equiped with thermite oxygen tips.

The plan went to well, and now three cargo subs were seeking to suck out the oil that was remaining. A couple boats disguisded as a fishing traller and pleasure craft remained near by - a communications bouy already deployed to jam communications in the area.

The fire of course was problematic and the boats left quikly after.. the subs however were dedicated to sucking up the oil - perhaps killing two birds with one stone...

something went wrong though and fire started seeping into one of the subs.. through the pumping mechanism.

The other two having their fill sunk and dove...

the third though started dumping it's oil... and started fleeing.

"THEY DID WHAT????!!!!!!" Grand Arbiter Grant Norse screamed at the Sectary of State whom had told him of the oil spill. The 49 year old man turned so red in the face the Sectary of State for a moment thought that human spontaneous combustion might be proven right there right now. Luckily though, the leader did not burst in to flame.

"A massive oil spill, a tanker ran aground in the eastern Colombia Province, a few miles off shore." The Sectary of State told him timidly.

"And they set it ON FIRE?!!!"

"Yes, the electrical systems were not powered down, and that was enough to set it ablaze."

"Those imbeciles! We are almost an oil free nation now, we've spent 4.3 trillion ice diamonds (about 1.1 trillion usd) trying to stop the burning of oil and swap to green energy and those idiots run a fucking oil tanker aground! We gave them detailed maps of the reef system, what the hell were they doing?!"

"I don't know Mr. Grand Arbiter." The Sectary was surprised to see the man use such profanity.

"How much revenue do we get for letting those things short cut though our waters annually?"

"About four billion ice diamonds."

"That's four billion were going to go with out."

"What do you mean sir?"

"I don't want another one of those things in my waters ever again, work up a declaration of that, and have in law before the midnight. I can't risk another thing like this happening again. But right now get all the clean up crews we have on this ASAP!” He added this as the Sectary was leaving, "Oh and inform whichever dumbass owned the tanker that we're suing them for all they've got."

The holding tanks on the damaged sub couldn't kick the preasure fast enough and there was smoke left in unable to escape. The gases from the oil mixed with the smoke - and the unthinkable happened the tanked exploded damaging the sub and causing a small underwater explosion.

"Heir, get the bottom sensors or destroy them" - communicated via UHF SONAR encrpyted.

"System down we've lost our holding tank Dux, the remainder of the tank is taking on water, our stealth is damaged."

"Detach your tank send divers out to plant explosives on it and destroy the sensors with plastique if they can't be winched back into hold."

"Dux the water is quickly filling with no light, it is very difficult."

"Let me speak to you in private commadore - the com cuts from speaker and the capped East Indian looking man picks up A phone on the damaged sub - I am ordering you to plant demo chargers inside the divers tanks as well ~ detonate them once their mission is accomplished do not waste a moment. Send your divers ~ and send out any scouts you have - use the UHF tracker to get to the sensors."

And so it went - the divers went out and never came back - however in and around the tanker - a number of small explosions occured.

miraculously though one of the divers survived ------ and was now floating unconcius on the surface - on a small coral outcrop. The C4 malfunctioned in his tank, but the early detonation of the block placed caused a shockwave and he hit his head and tank. Knocking him unconcious but the damage to the valve caused the inflation tubing system to start to fill around his suit sending him to the surface unconcious, luckily swept onto the reef outcrop..

His blackout was only temporary though. He wasn't sure what happened, but he knew this was going to be very bad.. all the water around him was smoke and oil filled - it was like hell.

His face opened up in anguish and dry tears. "Oh my god, what have I done, what will they do to me!!!!" - he had quick thoughts and dumped one of his two tanks - the damaged one into the water. And put his diving gear back on - feeling the top of his head.

He jumped back into the water and started swimming for shore - but clung to him was a globuous paste, and the water. Dark --- kicking kicking kicking - until he reached shore or escaped the expanse of oil --- he thought ' I'll just say I was on a ship and fell over board I hit my head and have amnesia if I get asked anything.'

as soon as he reached shore -- about about 3 hours after the explosion he was left with another dilema - what will I do with my suit --- he took off his dry suit and tank and threw it into the water.. then jumped back into the water to cover himself with oily water. ... then he started walking towards the nearest sign of life away from the beach ' help!!! help!!!'

C3 station 1428, Colombia City, Colombia Province, the Far Echo Islands.

A tired looking corpral nealy fell on Commander Kelly's desk. "Sir, sir," he rasped.

"What is it son?" the Commander asked compassionatly

"The offshore seabed sonar system, the oil spill didn't kill it, and it picked up some explosions and a partial sillouhet reading on a sub." The corpral finished by handing the Commander a print out of the sonar reading.

"Now who in the hell's sub is this, I've studied every sub that exists, and some that don't, and I can't tell you what this one is."

"We believe its only a partial sir. Some stealth capabilities were prolly intact."

"Still, this isn't good. Do we still have some of those leaky bucket Dolphin Class subs we brought form DMG MI sitting around?"

"Yes sir, and one domestic sub, the Pxla."

"Get them both in the water, have the domestic sub run silent though, don't want to loose her. And send dive team in hazmat suits to see what the hell they blew up."

"Yes sir." and the Corporal left.

"Poor bastard looked thirsty, I should have offered him some gatorade."

"Commander, commander!" Lieutenant yelled as he ram inside Kelly's office. "We found bodies!"

"Do they tell nationality?!"

"No sir, but we found a suit, abandoned, so the occupant's probably still alive."

"Get a search team going, and I want him alive damn it!"

back on the damaged sub - which was strangling behind the other two -

"No mate,. they have another operation they it is confidential - they are being picked up by Neptune Aururua, your brother's fine, back to your post, you'll see him when we get back."

"Aye Aye" skunk known for his IBS, the reason he was releived from the Dian Imperial Navy joined up to the outlaws crew with his brother a little over a year ago. He fell into the blackmarket after his dismisal because he knew how to make guns and repair guns. He got his brother to back up government information on deployments and sent it to the blackmarket. Soon after his brother fell under investigation and they both fled - to an outland zone. He didn't totally trust the commodore, but his shipman habits died hard and he followed orders. He walked away...

"Commodore," another crewmember walked up," we lost our ability to run silently on one of the cranks. I'm sure you know, but if we move using that crank - we can be traced. I suggest cutting off that portion of the propulsion sstem entirely - we'll be reduced to about 2 knots against the current, but we'll be able to maintain stealth. But we may not be able to get out of the area."

"Brian - thanks for the report - max out that thruster get us out of here fast - we'll burn out that crank totally once it burns out go back to stealth. part of the ship is still going to be detectable but we'll run the sub backwards so that we have our good side pointed towards the land.Even though we'll still have some drag... "

Private Hennessy moved along the beach with the rest of the search unit. He was the son of the Sectary of State, but none of that mattered, there was one objective, find that bastard.

He has a 10mm Tyrone semi-automatic pistol at his side for emergencies, bit instead of his typical MP7A1; he carried a Tippmann A-5 paintball gun loaded with 'pepper balls' instead of paintballs. They were a less than lethal alternative which would stun the man long enough for the team to arrest him. Everyone wanted to know who this guy was, and where he was from.

After about 20 minutes of searching, the sergeant ordered them to split into teams of two, and spread out the search. 15 minutes later, about a half mile in shore in a fairly heavily forested area, Hennessy spotted his query. "Got him." he whispered to his comrade, Private Yakam. Hennessy moved to where he had a clear shot, the man was not a hard target, he seemed injured, Hennessey popped off about 15 rounds of the stinging spray within the projectiles onto the man. He and Yakam moved up and handcuffed the suspect.

---

"Commander," a sergeant began, were still picking up on sonar a partial silhouette, especially from the subs, we could probably hit it. All we need permission to fire."

"Denied, follow them silent mode. We'll find that guy who washed up on the beach, but if we go about sinking submarines we could be killing over a hundred citizens of a potentially much larger country than ours. And I don't think this guy is gonna be too hard to get answers out of."

"Yes sir, I'll send that down the line."

To Whom It May Concern: (OOC: Aimed at Granate)

The Sadow Energy Corporation has heard of a bit of trouble between Granate and the Far Echo Islands owing to a recent oil spill on their precious coral reefs. Leaving national problems aside, SENCORP is offering to buy out the company owning the ship; any problems with the Far Echo Islands would then have to be directed towards SENCORP, and given our close relationship with the Kregaian Imperium, your persecutors would be forced to back off. They would be very foolish indeed to try playing their game with the Imperium. We are willing to pay the exact worth of your company + 15% for the acquisition; a very generous offer considering the trouble you are now in. Please respond quickly.

Sincerely,
Antigus Sadow, CEO, Sadow Energy Corporation (SENCORP)

“We’ve got him.” Said Corporal Kixvi over the radio, “We are en route back to base, be ready for us when we get there.” His voice was collected but with undertones of excitement.

“Good job!” the Commander called back

*several minutes later*

*Two soldiers escorted the prisoner into the commander’s office. The whole base looked like a hajj - pajj of log cabins more than a real military installation, but well, it was really both. And all the offices and quarters reflected a mid west settlement in the United States circa 1800 but with out of place pieces of 21st century arms and technology.*

“Hello, Mr. Doe. I like to be a nice person, I really do. So I’m going to ask you politely as I can first:” The commander started out in a friendly tone, but then suddenly changed to an angry, yelling, punishing tone: “WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU IN MY COUNTRY!”

The oil supertanker RTMS Barricade was on a scheduled run from oil fields in British Londinium, it was chartered and owned by the Tech-Com Corporation and was currently carrying several million barrels of oil.

Neither the crew nor the Tech-Com Corporation had been informed of TFEI's change in their laws.

Back at the 'Ice Box' New St. Petersburg, Arctica Province.

Just after finishing his State of the Confederacy address, Grant Norse strode into his office, not expecting to see Arch Foreign Relations Advisor Lucy Raven waiting for him.

"Sir," she said coldly, she had been so cold since Lee Jackson Davis, the former Grand Arbiter, had been put in penitentiary in British Londonium, "There are several oil carrying vessels nearing our waters, and holding on the normal shipping lanes, it's possible they did not get our message due to technical difficulties or otherwise."

"Huh," the Grand Arbiter replied and pondered what to do in this situation, "Well, I suggest that we dispatch some of our Seahawk helicopters from the Carrier Pezicy it should be patrolling near there. Give them orders to fly by and hail, and if there is no response, they have permission to land on board. But do not fire, we don’t want more of a problem with another oil spill that our missiles cause!”

ooc: If no one replies to this bump, I will just assume that this worked its self out the way things usually do. The prisioner was executed, and no one ever knew about it, he didn't say anything, the oil was eventually cleaned up, the tanker got turned around, etc. But this is all ooc, and if somebody makes a coherent IC reply, then we'll be back on.
