The execution of a traitor [open]

“The highest court in the Far Echo Islands has found former Arch Military Advisor, Ithan Novak, guilty of one count of treason, one count of corruption, and one count of subversion of the government of the Far Echo Islands. Proven to be working for neighboring nations to involve the nation in war so that neighboring nations may come in during a time of crisis, and destroy our way of life. He has also been found guilty of taking bribes from sources that will not been identified, and this amounts to a serious attempt to undermine the government of these islands.

Mr. Novak will be put to death on this day August 3, 0 a.r. by means of brain stem severing. This execution will, unlike most, be public, and will demonstrate a very humane way of taking a human life, if one truly does exist.” The Supreme court judge finished.

*There was a chair, many expected to see death by electrocution; this was not the case. About a thousand had come to see the execution of the man who had drafted the declaration that started the ‘One Hour War’ between the Far Echo Islands and British Londinium. It was a cool day in New St. Petersburg, in stark contrast to the celebrations that had consumed the streets last nights. First a guard restrained him in the chair, and then an Orthodox Christian church called “Islander Christian Orthodox Church” read the man his last rights. A doctor proceeded to place an IV in the man’s arm, and then he was injected with a chemical compound that rendered him unconscious. A man who was obviously a mercenary of some sort was the one who pressed the button which started and an automated program which extended several small blades that cut into the back of the man’s skull, and proceeded to sever the man’s brain stem, he died instantly. Then the coroner placed the man on a stretcher, and covered him in a black blanket, and placed a tag on his left big toe. An ambulance drove away silently. The man’s organs would be taken, and his body buried at a small ceremony in a few hours.*

“Justice has been served.” The Supreme Court Judge declared.

[ooc: you have a range of things you can do if you want, you can comment on the means of execution, or you can start at the burial service, you can be some one in the crowd, or pretty much what ever you can think of.]

Execution of CFEI Leader

Good evening viewers and welcome to LorNET News 3's evening broadcast. I am your host Jesika Sytch. (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Jesika_Sytch) We have received reports today that CFEI ex-military advisor was executed today for crimes of high treason. He was executed by a 'pacifist' means that involved the severing of the brain stem via a microscopic blade injected into the rear of his skull.

As many of you know, the Nationalist Republic was very briefly involved in the CFEI's recent issue with British Londinium, threatening to deploy a peace keeping force to protect the sovereignty of CFEI.

We are happy to announce that British Londinium has retreated from CFEI and has come to the conclusion of their trial of CFEI's leader. The death of the military adviser responsible for instigating the brief conflict is an official ending to the tension in that region, and will see the return of our PDF peace keepers.

More news at 6.

OOC: I may or may not roleplay a diplomat and a few OCULMAGT (our intelligence agency) agents appearing later and asking to discuss a future between our two nations, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. Welcome to NationStates! Glad you weren't scared off by the conflict with B.L! :-D

The Empire deems the method of execution humane, although our ethics dictate that an execution victim be conscious. However, we recognize that your method of actually causing the death would require that the victim be sedated, in order to remain morally, for lack of a better word, correct.

RE: Recent Tensions

Though the Commonwealth maintained a neutral stance in you recent conflict with British Londinium we are nevertheless troubled by the recent instability in your nation. As the Far Echo Islands sits in close proximity to several key shipping lanes frequented by Tolvanic flagged merchant marines, as well as the East Bank fishing grounds, we have a vested interest in stability in the area.

To that end we are stepping up patrols by the Tolvanic Navy in the area.

Our ships will not enter your territorial waters and will have no contact with Far Echo Islander ships without due cause. However, our vessels will defend themselves if provoked and will not tolerate any interference with Tolvanic or or other neutral ships in the area.

ooc: actually, you didn't miss much of a war with guns, missile, ships etc. as you did a court battle over human, err, dolphin rights.

IC:

The Tolvanic navy need not worry about being provoked or interfered with. The Tolvans (ooc: guessing that's it) have done nothing against us and we intend them no harm at all.

Sincerely,
Lucy Raven

The 11th Carrier Strike Group will be joining the 8th Carrier Strike Group in conducting patrols of Oscar Station within the next 100-110 hours. We anticipate the increased naval presence to last no more than 20 to 30 days, barring any unforseen events in the region.

------------------------------------

In response to the execution of Ithan Novak, we of the Militia Enforced State must congratulate on both maintaining stability in the region from terrorists and traitors, and the humane way of execution. We will study this alternative method of execution, for cases where death is appropreate, but suffering is not.

We hope that your small nation continues to flourish unimpeded.

Official Communiqué

Open Declaration:

Noting the proximity of the Far Echo Islands to the Mediterranican region, and thus its proximity to key Londinian shipping routes, the People's Sovereign Navy will be tripling its patrols in the area for the next six months to ensure the continued safety of our merchant fleet.

Furthermore, I applaud the leadership of the Far Echo Islands for taking punitive measures against the individual who caused war between our two proud nations.

Sincerely,
