Gaffa Territories

President Kipling was reported to announce complete closure of all international relations in and out of The Gaffa Territories after riots broke out along the border of Capital State Wazingdon and dwarvish Massaya. "Internal affairs are internal business," his official statement read, "we apologise to the global companies wishing to trade in our great resources and cheap labour, but how can we be a true global nation until we have our heart happy? The disturbance will be dealt with shortly and we will be ready to relaunch in to the wider world."
The Gaffa Gossip has however been keeping reporters at the scene. It appears that the Massayan dwarves have been protesting their segregation from the other humans claiming that they are not a different nation through a successive chain of genes nor parentage but merely based on freakish occurances in genetic deviation and are therefore 'disabled' and covered by the UN Rights of the Disabled Act.
Central Gaffaen Government scientists have countered that dwarvism has in fact been traced through family lines and moreover the said resolution in fact encourages the disabled to be given their independence. Unable to come up with a response the dwarves have resorted to rioting along Massaya's border.
It has been reported that the riot started off as a friendly picket with placards bearing 'Dwarves are Kanyans too!" as well as appealing to their 10 dwarf representatives in the Gaffaen Central Government. It was rumoured that local Massayan Government Chair Feold Bootlebuch had appeared at the picket but such a claim is insubstantiated.
A scuffle with the Wazingdon border guard escalated into a full blown riot with smashed bottles and stakes among some of the weapons used. Riot police were called and tear gas used. As we went to press several dwarves had been arrested and escorted away.
We spoke to a few Kanyan and Jarvidian nationals. "Independence was the best thing that happened to this country," one Jarvidian said, "just look at those 'furries'," (referring to the Sentient Creatures of Ravear) "the jungle is where they belong and feel most at home." "It's not as if Massaya has anything less than we do," a Kanyan replied when asked why the dwarves might want to be declared Kanyan nationals, "In fact many are jealous that they have such a rich mining sector, Kanyan industry is mostly farm based, I guess we have the closest language." In fact the general consensus was independance of each nation had increased cultural heritage, specialisation of industry and meant every child was at least bi-lingual. Religious hatred was also down and family inclusiveness greater. "Wonder why fewer countries have not done it?" remarked one.
