Olivereopolis, Tuesday - Following several weeks of strained relations between the two countries, Lieutenant-General William Takero announced at a Presidential Palace press conference today that Oliverea had declared war on its smaller neighbor Timidus Arcis. These tensions arose from the two countries' previous failure to negotiate the exchange of a hijacked truckload of weapons-grade uranium.

"Our objective is to install a more cooperative regime in the country," said General Takero. "We have attempted to our fullest extent to utilize peaceful methods. As these have failed, I am afraid we are resorting to deadly force."

Strategic bombing of Arcician military bases shall begin Thursday, followed by a full-scale ground attack on Saturday.

The solemn gray masses of the forts stood in sharp contrast to the pale yellow sand of the desert.
