(OOC: This is intended to be both an intro post and a reference thread for other RPers, detailing the history of the Remican Empire prior to first contact in order to give you an idea as to how my space nation is set up. I will be writing a first RP post soon detailing the first encounter between the Remicans and another space nation, of whom I will ask for participation in the near future. Until then, enjoy. :) )

Circa 300,000 BR - Earliest fossilised remains of the Sung discovered on the Ry'ah Continent along the equatorial line, suggesting the beginnings of evolution from this central area during the We'Jo Super-Continent. Approximate similar time, Sung fossils found on the Jey'su Continent, theorising a movement eastwards as the Sung developed.

Circa 250,000 BR - Earliest fossilised remains of modern C'tan ("C'tanus Sapius") show movement of majority of group of C'tan onto the Ji'rih Continent, suggesting the divergence in evolutionary history as the We'jo Super-Continent broke up into the three existing continents.

Circa 100,000 BR - Indications of organised society discovered on the Qu'tan Island Chain in the southern hemisphere, showing indications of an unusually advanced technological civilisation. No indication as to the civilisation that existed, with no fossilised organic remains having been discovered.

Circa 20,000 BR - First indications of agricultural activity begins in different areas of the world, with the C'tan and the Sung developing at similar rates.

Circa 8,500 BR - Earliest remains of organised C'tan society discovered through excavation of stone housing and discovery of steel blade weapons. Expected beginning era of the C'tan Empire under the Yo'han Dynasty.

Circa 5,000 BR - Remains of organised society and indications of civil war found in the Ry'ah Continent, suggesting dissent that is suspected to have resulted in the Sung Empire. Similarly, historical records of Sung civilisation on the eastern Jey'su Continent suggests a more stable development towards early democratic traditions around this time, with the first treatises on democratic participation beginning to appear around this time and leading to theories that this Sung Republic was the first indication of democratic society on Remic.

Circa 2,300 BR - Early historical documents indicate imperialist expansion across the Ji'rih Continent by the Yo'han Dynasty. Similarly, indications of contact between the Sung Empire and the Sung Republic leads to expansionist war, with the Sung Empire encompassing the territories of the Republic and dissolving democratic traditions.

Circa 500 BR - Earliest recorded contact between explorers from the C'tan and the Sung, with indications of trade between the two states. Beginnings of Renaissance period in both states bring the two empires into a period of enlightenment and learning.

Circa 400 BR - Earliest remains of humans suddenly appear on the Ry'ah Continent in the northern areas. Artefacts of advanced metalwork but no indication of their usage in early human settlements lead to the theory that humans arrived accidentally via a crashed colony vessel.

320 BR - Industrial Revolution in Sung and C'tan Empires, and first contact between the humans and the Sung Empire on the Ry'ah Continent leads to a short war, whereupon the Sung Empire enslaves humans.

250 BR - Breakdown of relations between Sung Empire and the C'tan Empire due to a shortage of expansion space and the death of the last C'tan Tir ("Emperor") of the Yo'han Dynasty, Tir Fa'hir Yo'han. Advent of the nationalistic Du'has Dynasty with Tir Kel Du'has results in naval skirmishes between the two empires. Beginning of the Empire War.

230 BR - End of the Empire War, with defeat for the Sung Empire. Humans rebel on the Ry'ah Continent, beginning the two-year War of Independence that pushes the majority of the Sung off the continent and to the Jey'su Continent. Declaration of the Human Federation on the Ry'ah Continent, and the Federation enslaves the remaining Sung on Ry'ah.

200 BR - Internal dissent within the Sung Empire brings an end to the rule of the Jel'a imperial family and installs the nationalistic Fa'l imperial family into the seat of power at the head of a military-religious dictatorship. The Sung Empire is dissolved and replaced by the Sung Theocracy.

199 BR to 100 BR - A period of relative calm in relations between the three superpowers, with advancement of technology and trade, although tensions rarely exceed cordial and minor military incidents tarnish an otherwise peaceful period in the history of the planet.

98 BR - First detonation of an atomic bomb by the Sung Theocracy brings Remic into the Nuclear Age. The C'tan Empire and the Human Federation detonate their own weapons later that year. Beginning of the nuclear arms race.

60 BR - Disputes over oil deposits in the Eastern Ocean results in war between the C'tan Empire and the Sung Theocracy, with a Sung invasion of the C'tan homeland. The Human Federation remains neutral. Beginning of the Second Empire War.

55 BR - Surprise attack by the Sung on the Human Federation naval assets results in the Human Federation entering the war on the side of the C'tan Empire. Second Empire War evolves into the First Great War with Federal Declaration of War.

53 BR - On the back foot in the face of the Human/C'tan Alliance, the Sung Theocracy uses the first nuclear weapons in open conflict. Tactical weapons are utilised and missile attacks occur on the other two nations. C'tan and Human Federation retaliate. War essentially grinds to a halt in the aftermath, with surviving forces holding their positions. There are massive levels of death and damage on all sides, with estimates of nearly 800 million dead altogether, bringing the approximate population of the planet from 2 billion to 1.2 billion.

52 BR - First Great War officially stops with surrender of the Sung Theocracy. To prevent another war, the Confederation of States is formed to act as an international diplomatic arena. Sung Theocracy dissolved and replaced with the Sung Republic, organised along democratic lines by the victors and subject to heavy sanctions and war reparations.

50 BR to 25 BR - A period of massive rebuilding in the Human Federation and the C'tan Empire, and declining economic activity in the Sung Republic. Nationalist tensions run high, with the Humanity First Party winning the Federal elections on all levels. Massive investment in technology ensues, and the C'tan Empire initiates the first space program.

20 BR - First C'tan to orbit the planet, Jo'nax Te'qu. Sung Republic elects a nationalist party opposed to the reparation payments. A period of rearming begins.

15 BR - The Human Federation declares war on the Sung Republic following an argument over war reparations and undersea oil rights. Federal troops invade the Republic and are met with severe resistance.

14 BR - Sung Republic launches a surprise nuclear attack on the Human Federation. The Federation responds with a widespread nuclear exchange. C'tan enters the war on the side of the Federation.

12 BR - First neutron bombs are deployed by the C'tan-Human Alliance, effectively wiping out 70 percent of the Sung population. Exchanges of weapons stop. Planetary population reduced from 1.2 billion to less than 500 million over the course of the war. Cease-fire declared.

11 BR to 1 BR - A period of widespread death due to radiation poisoning, starvation and disease, with massive deaths and internal dissent in each nation. National governments struggle with badly damaged infrastructure and failing crop harvests, resulting in massive civil dissent.

0 AR - Carlos Ga'hi Remic stages a coup in the Human Federation with the surviving elements of the military, and creates a strict dictatorship that begins to brutally suppress civil dissent. As a half-human, half-Sung raised by a C'tan family, Remic symbolises a way to bridge the gap between each culture. Remic calls upon the two other states to join together and discuss the future of the planet. The Ct’an Empire and the Sung Republic refuse to negotiate.

2 AR – Mass exodus of citizens to the Human Federation territories as Remic’s popularity increases. Widespread defection of military forces from C’tan Empire and the Sung Republic to Remic’s cause. Human Federation officially disbanded by Remic, and replaced with the Remican Empire. Further deaths from radiation poisoning and famine reduce the world population to less than 100 million.

5 AR – Unification War begins. The Remican Empire attacks the C’tan and Sung nations using former Federation forces, defected foreign assets and volunteer civilian elements. Remic declares that his forces will not use nuclear weapons in their attacks. C’tan and Sung forces still loyal form a shaky coalition against superior Remican numbers.

16 AR – Unification War ends, with less than 50 million left alive across the planet. Remican Empire brutally suppresses the former C’tan and Sung nations and enters a period of re-education and elimination of dissenters. Remic releases the document ‘A Treatise on the Unity of the Remican Empire’, which becomes the backbone of Imperial policy. Remic declares himself Emperor.

17 AR – 30 AR – A period of infrastructure rebuilding and soil cleansing programs. The Empire pushes forward in investing in technological and scientific research.

70 AR – Large areas of infrastructure rebuilt, internal dissent at the lowest levels since the formation of the Remican Empire. Cold Fusion mastered in this year, and holographic technology begins to show promising signs of stability. Remican Imperial Space Project formed.

90 AR – First Remican citizen and Remican Human to orbit the planet, Peter In’dis Macgregor. Holographic technology develops to stable commercial levels. First scientific discoveries of the possible existence of subspace, and the possibilities for faster-than-light travel.

120 AR – Experiments into Hyperdrive technology successfully create the first tunnel through subspace, moving a test object three miles at speeds faster than light. Remican Imperial Space Project lands a team of three – one human, C’tan and Sung – on Remic’s satellite, Lunar Remica.

130 AR – Remican Imperial Space Project begins construction of small outpost on Lunar Remica for scientific study and small-scale mineral excavation. Large deposits of several minerals discovered, including Uranium.

160 AR – Holographic technology, cold fusion and advanced medical techniques reach stable usage and commercially viable standards. Remican Imperial Space Project begins expansion of the Lunar Remica Colony to city-sized mineral extraction. Remican Planetary Defence System begins, with plans to link all planetary and orbital tracking systems into one integrated network.

162 AR – First Orbital Defence Platform launched, the first of twenty-four planned.

165 AR – Orbital Defence system complete, and the Planetary Defence System goes online. Remican Imperial Space Project officially reclassified as the Remican Imperial Space Force. Plans created for the first generation of space cruisers.

166 AR – ISS Vigilant begins construction in orbit.

167 AR – Breakthrough in Hyperspace experiments leads to successful transit of a larger orbital test object from one side of the planet to the other.

175 AR – ISS Vigilant NC-01 launches, the first of ten planned Vigilant Class Cruisers.

177-195 AR – Further nine Vigilant Class Cruisers launched. ISS Vigilant fitted with the first ship-worthy Hyperdrive for testing.
