History
In 2007 The Nation of Oblivion2 commissioned SaintB Integrated Infantry Systems to design and produce a rifle of unprecedented potential. The weapon must be of at least 12.17 mm (or .50 caliber) and be able to fire a shell up to 5km (3 miles); it must achieve all this with standard ammunition so that it does not leave a trail. Finally, the Hades had to be rugged enough to fire in a variety of envireonments including arctic and desert terrain. Three years and 40 million + USD later the Hades is completed and available to world markets.

Information
The KSB-4 Hades (Kingdom of SaintB #4) was designed with one purpose; to send the target straight to Hades. This deadly rifle deserves the name of the the ancient Greek god of death for its killing power and range. The Hades chambers a special 15 mm (.60 caliber) round designed to travel extreme distances with enough killing power to kill a man at up to 3 miles away! The round is fitted with stabilizing fins to help keep a straight trajectory to maximum ranges and currently has two variants; an Anti Material APDS round and a Hollow Point Anti Personell round that we were able to prevent from shattering from the concussive force of traveling several miles by filling the tip with a small amount of mercury. The rounds take several seconds to reach thier destination after firing.

Features
The Hades is constructed of molded fiber glass, rubber, and carbon fiber; it is extremly durable and weighs very little for its size. The weapon's firing mechanism is able to function normally in extreme heat and cold conditions and will not misfire with sand, grass, or anything else in the firing mechanism.
Recoil Absorbing Stock
The KSB-4's stock has a rubber zone with three shock absorbing springs designed to absorb the recoil caused by firing the weapon situated just before the shoulder rest. When securely pressed against the firer's shoulder it reduces kickback significantly enough to make it comparable to much smaller weapons.
Gyro Stabilized Bypod
The Hades' Gyro Stabilized Bypod helps ensure a steadier aim while lying in the prone position, the gyro stabilization gives it even greater balance on uneven terrain.
Peterson & Scott Electronic 25x Zoom Scope
The Peterson & Scott Electronic Scope is a thing of beauty. It is colapsable/extendable with a soft rubber ring for comfort while looking through it, it features an integral range finder to help the sniper judge his or her shot, available low light and thermographic vision, 25x electronic zoom, and a laser dot in the crosshairs; battery life is 24 hours and recharges in 4. The Peterson and Scott has 16x zoom without electronic aids.

Currently, only SaintB, Tigerlain, and Oblivion2 hold rights of production but they will be available within the next few years (1 year is one day so don't expect to wait long). Right of production will include the gun and its ammunition for use by domestic armed forces.

I'd be more prone to class the weapon as antimaterial.

If it makes noise, heat or vibration it is traceable.

Also trajectory may play into it as well. (a silenced weapon) is just that 'silenced'

In order for it to travel at high speed it would require to cause a shockwave. (speaking in regard to impact trajectory as well as any air movements or heat trails) such as sensor deisgnation systems that track sound in an array to determine movement of objects.

sort of reminds me of http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn72-e.htm

of course aerodynamics could do it - i just find it hard to find ammo that doesn't leave a heat signature or sound signature - especially one that can travel effective 5km.

Although the IAR is similar (with a smaller round 12mm), I'm curious as to why you made this a wholey bolt operated weapon?

Good questions all...

To your first issue: By untraceable we meant that our weapon does not make a trail in the air that is visible to the eye as some guass and rail guns may do. The bullets are aerodynamically designed and use a special powder formula to achieve thier distance. Admitedly it takes 6-7 seconds to reach maximum range but that is one of the reasons for choosing 15 mm hollow point and APDS rounds... to ensure maximum knockdown capability. The weapon still produces heat and sound as that was unavoidable and if the proper sensors where in place the location of the shot could be determined; however... the sniper's credo "Is one shot, one kill!" and snipers are trained to fire and relocate so this should come within proper safety margins. We assure you that at maximum range the target will have no forwarning unless security is so strict that he is protected at the mere sound of gunfire 3 miles away, anyone within 1 km will be down before they realize what happened...

The KSB-4 Hades is bolt operated for psycological reasons, we have found that a bolt operated weapon is often felt of as 'tougher' or 'more powerful' than semi automatic weapons. We could easily release a semi-automatic version if the need arose.

Finally... the weapon has been classified as a "Sniper Rifle" because that was the designation our clients at Oblivion2 asked for.

OOC:
A remarkably puny round and ludicrously light weapon for what you want it to do.

Weapon weight wise you would be looking at something more in the 20-30kg region and you might be wanting to have a look at hydralic recoil dampeding or a long recoil mechanism to keep thigns controlable.

As to the round without improtant details like projectile weights and ballsitic profiles it is hard to say much beyond it looks remarkably slow for a round designed for that sort of range, at the moment it compares unfavourably against 14.5x114mm. Of couse your claimed performance could be posisble i would just be more comfortable with a bit of evidence or some ballsitics calc.
