The Datius ALPHA Forces The Datius ALPHA Forces are one of the most highly trained troops in the world and have recieved consistent funding from the Datius Government. The total population of the DASF is 4000, and 1500 of these highly trained combat masters are currently on-call in the Alestra war. The purpose of these soldiers are as a last resort for th Datius army they are highly trained in Alpine, Tropical and Urban terrain.

The total force is split into 40 divisions each containing 100 men out of these 100 men there are 10 'squads' of 10 soldiers each squad contains:

1 Captain
2 IT Technicians
4 Tank Driver
3 Privates
1 DTT-500 (in every other squad)

DTT-500

The DTT-500 is the most notorious tank in the Datius Armed Forces, which is the backbone of Datium. The Tank is currently in the construction period but will be ready to fight for 8:00 pm (UK Standard Time) 29/7/07. And will be included in all 400 'squads' of the ALPHA force

Defence
The DTT-500 is one of the most heavily armoured and best protected tanks in the world. The turret and hull are protected with second generation Chobham armour (also known as Coshastati) the details of which are still classified. Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA) kits are also fitted as necessary. The nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) protection system is located in the turret bustle. On each side of the turret are five L8 smoke grenade dischargers. Challenger 2 can also create smoke by injecting diesel fuel into the exhaust manifolds.


Drive System
Engine: Perkins CV12 diesel engine delivering 1,200 hp (895 kW).
Gearbox: David Brown TN54 epicyclical transmission (6 fwd, 2 rev).
Suspension: Second-generation Hydrogas.
Track: William Cook Defence Hydraulically Adjustable double-pin.
Maximum speed: 43 mph, 59 km/h (road) 25 mph, 40 km/h (cross country)
Range: 280 miles, 450 km (road) 156 miles, 250 km (cross country).

Crew and accommodation
The Datius Army maintained its requirement for a four-man crew (including a loader) after risk analysis of the incorporation of an automatic loader suggested that auto-loaders reduced battlefield survivability. Mechanical failure and the time required for repair are prime concerns. A human loader is able to maintain a higher rate of fire than is possible with current auto-loaders, and can assist with maintenance of the vehicle.

Like every Datius tank since the Centurion, the DTT contains a boiler for water which can be used to brew tea, produce other hot beverages and heat 'Pot Noodle' meals contained in ration packs. Most Datius DTTs have boilers as well, where it's known as a "BV" for boiling vessel.

OOC: What exactly is the role of the DASF anyway? And why do they need a tank per squad, a single tank at that, to perform this role?
Did you rip that writeup on the DTT-500 right off of some Chally 2 article? It shows, and could do with a little editing to make it fit more in line, like removing references to the British Army. And if you state it has a four man crew, why does the tank only have three crew alloted to it per squad? And what does the rest of the squad do, or ride in/on? Or do they walk?

And for pure technicality, it's really impossible to have the best anything in NS. You can easily be one of the best with the right time and development, but never actually the best. This is more due to tech diversity and the huge ammount of nations in NS then anything you or anyone else can do though.
And if this is a Chally 2 in essence (Or an Abrams as in the picture), there are already quite a few better protected tanks in NS in the same weight and use class. Although the Chally 2 does still kick ass in my mind.
