A past to forget... (IC. semi-closed) - Page 2
"You may think it is funny, Vassilli, but we can get them. We have a squad ready to capture them, or probably kill them. But then, it will be all your fault if we do kill them. You have information. You will give it to us. If not, we will have to revert to unconventional measures"
He reminded himself there was no law against lying. But if this didn't work, then the white noise torture would. The longest he'd seen someone withstand it was 24 hours, and he came out a changed man.
=====
Outside, the minister watched the man carefully, along with a psycologist. She was 40, and was one of the only women in the facility. That gave her an edge in reading male body language.
"He's lying. Look at the way when he talked about knowing nothing:"
she played back the recording on the computer screen to her right.
"He looked away when he said that, and you see how he was fidgeting with his hands: he is lying. He knows something."

"Under Geneva convention I give only my name, rank and serial number. Nothing else heh! You kill me, Drvarska will kill many thousands!" Vasilli said hoping the government knew about this.

"Sir, we have confirmation on the whereabouts of the prisoner." said a General as he walked in throught the door saluting the President.
"You have?"
"Yes sir, satellite has picked up aerial photographs of the facillity he is in."
"Very well, send out the Special operations team immediatly. I want this soldier home! The Alfegos are delaying long enough, its time to take action."
"Right away sir!"

Drvarskan Secret Naval Base
Lt.Gorbachiv and his team of commando soldiers prepared for their first large scale extraction mission. He had two objectives only which was to infiltrate the prison facility and extract the prisoner before he gives out any vital information.
His team consisted of twelve men, each with disguised Alfegos BDUs for prison guards. They were armed with XM8 Assault rifles and M9 Berettas each with supressors. They set out on one small stealth boat with no radar signal. They set out towards the land of Alfegos. A large mission lay ahead of them.

SIC:
The Firestorm continued firing at the gunboats. Another shot from them had taken another of the railguns down: this time it was a direct hit to the Freon coolant pipes. Before it was shut off, two of the crew were covered in hot gas at a few hundred degrees. They were rushed to the isck bay, as the rest of the crew tried to repair the high-pressure pipe.
Strain was everywhere: the crew were firing the railguns faster than was safe for the coolant, to try and stop the boats before they torpedoed the ship.
There was about 6 minutes before they arrived and tried boarding actions. The marines were on high alert and the 3 BOFORS 40mm AA guns and numerous 7.62 mm FN MAG machine guns along the starboard side, facing the enemy, were ready to attack any boarders. All the sailors were in reach of a gun if they managed to board.
=====
"So, you think we would kill you, eh? The Geneva convention I have says nothing about you only being able to give those pieces of information. We'll leave you some time to think your answers to our questions over."
They left the room, and the door was locked. Then, once the men had come round to the observation room, they turned off the microphone and turned on the white noise, at 70 DB. They watched the actions of the subject with interest.

Out on the New Zevkahy harbour fortress, the radar showed a small dot moving towards a beach 20 miles along the coast, halfway between New and Old Zevkhay. It was dismissed as some sort of seabird flock.
=====
Above the landing beach, on top of the cliff, a small coastal patrol hut lay with a backdrop of the massive forest. The coast guard there was awake, and having breakfast when he saw the black dinghy skipping across the waves. He at once was into his gun cabinet, and withdrew his CD issue AF - 57C rifle. It was an ancient semi-automatic rifle, but had enough power to kill at 2 kilometres. Just in case, he called the station 4 miles away:
"I've sighted some shifty figures on the beach outside. Requesting permission to apprehend over."
"Permission granted. Receive your call back in 20 over."
He walked out the house with his gun loaded with 10 rounds. He hoped it would not be necessary. He walked down the cliff path to the bottom, and walked to the ten men pulling the boat ashore.
"Can I help you at all?"

Vasilli watched as the men walked out of the room then a loud noise came on. He grunted in agony as the sound was loud, he pressed against his ears. These people will pay for this one day, he thought to himself. All he can think about now was his family.
=========
Lt.Gorbachiv pulled the dingy to shore, a man came by and asked if they needed help.
"No thanks" Gorbachiv said as one of his men walked up behind him and knocked him out with the butt of his XM-8 rifle. They tied him up and hid him with the dingy underneath a pile of rocks in a small cave structure. The twelve men proceded to their waypoint across a small road where a military truck was planted there waiting for them. The twelve men changed into their enemy uniforms with ID tags. Ten were dressed as guards and two were dressed as unarmed government officials. They boarded the truck with their men, the two officials sat in the front while the soldiers sat in the back.
Gorbachiv was in the passenger seat in the front reading his orders once again and putting it under his seat. He clipped on his ID tag and got the map out.
"Here is the location of the prison camp. Drive casually and put on your sunglasses." He told his driver.
He banged on the back of the truck for the men to keep quiet. Gorbachiv has been in many sabotage and spy missions but this is to become his largest. The truck started up and made its way down the road towards New Zevkahy for ten minutes and turning off on another road and made their way towards the prison facility.
Colonial Alliance. Headquarters.
"Us, sending civilians to their deaths? I believe you are gravely mistaken there. They are enlisted as soldiers even though it was done unwillingly. Besides, do you think that the public will look favourable at your aggression?"
"It was your bullets that ripped them apart. I wonder how your actions would be regarded by the international community, after only only a little editing is needed," the ruthless director informed the Alfegos commando. From start to end it was a trap, a trap he had carefully prepared and one that will now cost the enemy a lot in both image and men.
"Now, there's also the little matter of you frolicking around in our territory. From my reports countless civilian lives were lost due to your actions. Do you have something to say in your defence? We could work some kind of deal if you admitted your crimes and revealed your knowledge about the plans your side has," he pressed on intending to get the most out of the situation.

Train Depot. Outside Langley.
It was a utter disaster. Countless lives were lost in the explosion of the train. One could only wonder how a train could just slip all check points like that and why it was stopped where it was, but the reality stopped those questions fast. The accident left hundreds dead and countless others without a home, or that's what the people were lead to believe, but soon the truth reached their ears.
"How many!" one of the fire-fighters fighting the inferno yelled at his colleague as he struggled to enter a burning house.
"Four, one of them a cripple. Mother and father at work," the man replied as he hacked at the wooden structure.
"I'm going in!"
"Careful!"
All across the disaster area similar conversations were being waged by the men battling the fire.
"Go!"
"The roof is falling!"
"Pull them out!"
"Jenson got trapped, put some pressure there!"
In the end the results were staggering. Over four hundred people died and many more were rushed to the hospitals with serious burns. Remarkably only a handful of fire-fighters lost their lives in the fire, still seven lives too many. Perhaps the only good thing in this was the fact that the train station, packed with thousands of people was left unscathed.

Front lines.
Private Arsen was a friendly and sociable man. Having survived numerous attacks and saving his comrades more then one time from enemy fire he was considered a lucky charm for the unit, despite his weird name. This is why when he started pounding at the nearest tree and unloading his gun on it people took notice.
"Arson! Stop that!" his sergeant ordered while several soldiers moved to stop him. It took the combined force of seven man to still the private and even then with a lot of effort, but when they learned of the reason behind his outbreak they couldn't blame him. In the attack against the capital he had just lost his eldest child, a girl many of the men considered as a niece.
"We'll make them pay Arson, I promise you," the sergeant tried to console him.
"Yes," the private replied, hatred obvious in his eyes.

Front Lines. Colonial Alliance.
As predicted by the weather department the awaited moment of their attack was coming. Rain was pouring above their heads just as the final preparations were being made. Lacking the mobility of the Stronghold army and air superiority they knew they had to rely on different means to achieve their means.
The weather would work for them, a weapon of nature turned against the enemy. Besides the misinformation the enemy received proved to be useful already as several decoys were his by napalm missiles.
---
Front Lines. Tribal Stronghold.
Orders arrived, replies were sent the units were busy preparing and the commanders organizing their men. It wouldn't be long now. They were finally fully mobilized and ready. Initially High Command wanted to make sure that the weather turned out for the better, but recent information made them reconsider.
Conflicting information made them edgy and as a result the initial plan remained into effect if only taking place a few days earlier, hopefully catching the CA armies off guard as they would not expect an attack on such weather.
---
OOC: Weccanfeld, there's no real progress on the front lines and lately there's just a few skirmishes in the sky, nothing major. Alfegos, careful about napalm weapons. The CA ia in range of major TS cities and you using them against them might make them trigger happy.
The 8 armed guards at the gate examined the truck with interest: they hadn't known that one would come at this time. He radioed the internal guardpost with the names of the two officials.
He had known somethin was wrong by the way the wouldn't look directly at him when he asked them their names and purpose. So he wasn't surprised when the IDs didn't check out.
"I'm sorry sirs, but would you mind exiting the vehicle? Your ID doesn't check out."
He had taken off the safety on his AF 07.
=====
The government still had time to change their minds: and the they did. The napalm missiles underwent complete self-destruct, destriying their payload.
But the bombs from the bombers didn't.
=====
The sergeant sweated profusely. He was worried that he wouldn't be able to leave alive. Still... The HMX could be detonated with the power lead going into the back of the PC on the desk of the commander. But wouldn't go that far yet.
"We were destroying enemy installation sir!" he said.
"We have no part in the air attack on the capital sir!"
=====
The white noise was turned off, and the two interrogation officers entered the room again.
"Did you enjoy that? I hope you did, as if you don't answer, we will be giving you a bit more of that. So tell us. Where is your airbase?"
Drvarska

The white noise was turned off, the men came back in and asked Vasilli where his airbase was.
"Up my ass! You pigs!" Vasilli shouted at them.
He knew it was the wrong answer but he couldnt give away the position of the airbase.
================
The truck stopped at the gate. Gorbachiv stepped out of the truck with the other man. Their weapons were stowed in the back of the truck.
"We do not have time for this soldier, we have orders straight from the government to extract a prisoner. You will see the papers are in order. Our ID badges have recently been changed."
The soldiers in the back of the truck cocked their weapons silently and prepared to attack without them realising. Just in case things were to go wrong.
The guard called the internal security post by radio.
"Do we have any clearance by the government to allow a lorry in to extract a prisoner."
The reply did nothing to lighten his mood.
"I'm sorry sirs, but would you come this way."
He had his assault rifle out in his hands now. He wasn't taking chances. Neither were the others. One he saw had loaded the launcher slung under the gun with a CR Gas grenade. That he did not want to be in the way of when it went off.
=====
"Well then. You obviously don't want to tell us. Did you enjoy the noise? Because I promise you it will be coming on again if you don't start answering."
He left the room, leaving the other interrogation officer there. He would try to change tact.
"My friend is not that good with people. But I can tell you that I don't personally like the noise treatment. You can tell me what you want."
He passed a glass of water across the table for Vassilli, with a cigarette.
"Do you smoke?"
Little did Vassilli know that the glass of water was mixed with Sodium Penthol; truth serum. Once that was in him, they would know all that wanted.
=====
The internal security post by the entrance to the building had been put on level 2 alert. There was something not right about these guys.
The guards on duty had all loaded their assualt rifles, and had armed the lockdown: if needs be, they could block off the front door with a 150 mm steel plate.
Drvarska
08-08-2007, 10:30
The guards loaded their rifles as Gorbachiv looked at them.
"Well, if thats what you want." he said as he coughed out loud. The guards looked puzzled. Immediatly a hail of silenced gun fire hit them targeting the soldier with the grenade launcher first as Gorbachiv hit the ground with the other soldier. The guards managed to fire a few rounds but luckily one bullet hit a soldier's foot in the truck. They got back inside the truck and drove off towards the facility, they drove around to the loading docks where the men piled out of the truck loading their weapons. The alarm was set off and the 150mm plate covered the doors, one of the men quickly got out some C4 and attached it around the door. The men stood back as the fuze was set.
========
Vasilli looked at the men.
"I do not smoke." he said as he took a small sip of the water. Something was strange about it and began to feel dizzy, he knocked the glass over and it shattered on the floor.
The security moniters had seen the intruders. They were armed.
Immediately, the steel doors slammed shut on the exterior door. The guards came behind and took defensive positions. Most had AF - 07 assault rifles, the grenade launchers filled with cluster grenades. There were two teams manning MAU-3 machine guns, each with armour penetrating bullets.
Behind them, the massive bulkhead was closing over the entrance to the underground facility. It was deisgned to withstand nuclear balst, and was a metre thick. However, it weighed over 200 tons, and would take 2 minutes to close. Once that had happened, there would be practically no way in or out.
The sergeant was still in the booth watching the security moniters, radioing for help.
===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== =====
In the interrogation cell, the officer was smiling. Though he had only had a sip, Vassilli had drunk enough for the drug to take effect.
The other officer waled into the room and sat down in front of Vassilli.
"Now, then. Where is your airbase?"

The heavy door was closing, they had to find some way of stopping it. Gorbachiv ordered to men to move heavy boxes and steel crates to slow it down. While under cover fire the men moved into the facility and headed for the security room. They reached it and managed to throw in a grenade to disable anyone in the room unoticed. One man got onto the security camera system and noticed where the prisoner was being held. They lost one man from the enemy gun fire. Gorbachiv radioed back to base to send in an airstrike onto their position so they have some cover getting out.
==========
Vasilli stared at the man who asked him the question.
"Base...Base...use...plane" he had no idea what he was saying.

Meanwhile in Drvarskan Airspace
Seven F35s armed with assorted air-air and air-ground missles took off from a Drvarskan airfield a few minutes after the radio signal came in. The reached full speed and would reach Alfegos in time.
At the same time two UH-60 Blackhawks escorted by six Mi-24 hinds took off and headed towards the extraction point for the escaping soldiers.
The guards fell back to the stairwell, and let all hell lose with the assault rifles. One managed to get another of the enemy with the rounds. But they were closing in too fast, and trying to stop the bulkhead. Well....
The security forces were re-enforced by more guards pouring up the stairs. Thses 10 were all armed with an experimental launcher slung under their rifles. When they fired, each grenade came to rest near the enemy. When they exploded, they flung a thick spray everywhere that rapidly began to expand.
The sticky foam round was designed to be non-lethal, and a quick incapacitant, it proved this now as one of the enemy was cover around his legs by the sticky substance.
They would soon be overrun though. The commander of security rushed back down the stairs and to the underground facility.
=====
"What? Speak sense!" The officer was worried that the truth serum used had been too strong. He kept on asking
"Where is the airbase?"
=====
The massive harbour fortress was at amber alert: unauthorised fighters were headed towards Alfegos airspace. Immediately, the defence readiness was sent to all major cities, in anticipation of an enemy airraid.
=====
The fighters at the military base in Old Zevkhay were nearest: 10 were scrambled to try and intercept any enemy warplanes.
=====
In the presidents office, President Darel was furiously typing an email to the enemy government.
We are aware that you are sending airplanes into our airspace. If you do not back off within 2 minutes, we will take it as permission to shoot down those planes. If this happens again, we will take action against your nation, involving the use of WMDs.
We repeat this. If you do not listen, we will destroy your fighters, and possibly your nation.
Have a nice day

Gorbachiv and his men made their way towards the stairs, more men kept coming firing some sort of strange grenades at them. They managed to dodge many of them but two soldiers got stuck, one soldier stayed behind to help them cutting the sticky substance off with his knife. Gorbachiv and one soldier throwed two phospherous grenades in to their stairway, immediatly bursting out into flames causing serious damage to some of the enemy guards. The sound of the screams was almost deafening. After that they continued upwards and reached the cells where there were more enemy soldiers. Gorbachiv lost two men but he managed to make his way to the interrogation rooms where they burst into the observation and interrogation room at the same time. Taking them by surprise the soldiers with weapons would have been shot, Gorbachiv walked into the room where Vasilli was.
"You are going home Comrade."
"Home...Must.." Vasilli was still dizzy but able to walk.
Noticing in the observation room that one man was a minister, he could be some use to them.
"You are coming with us!" Gorbachiv said as he grabbed the man. Two soldiers grabbed him and will be his escorts.
Vasilli realised that the map was still in his cell, he rushed over to it and grabbed the map while it was still there. The team made their way back to the loading docks where the enemy gun fire was getting heavy. They noticed incoming helicopters, they rushed back to the truck that was still ready. One soldier grabbed out a Strela Anti-air launcher.
==================
President Vladimir Orlov recieved word back from the enemy, he found it absolutly mad. Will they use Nuclear weapons, he does not know.
"Order all missle batteries on alert. Set nation to def con 2." He told his Military minister over the phone.
"Right away sir."
He turned towards his Air force minister.
"Go forth with the air raid, we need to get our men outta there."
"Yes sir."
=============
The fighters recieved word to continue their attack. They dived downwards towards the prison facility and let out a hail of cluster bombs around the facility, carefully not aiming at the loading docks. One fighter targeted a helicopter where he let out a air-air missle.
After that run they noticed 10 contacts coming their way. They regrouped and headed to fight them.
The 10 AF -98 Comets came screeching from above onto the enemy. The let loose a massive barrage of 20 sidewinder IXs, before circling round and heading a max speed back to base. The hopefully could lure them into range of the SAM and Flak batteries surrounding Old Zevkhay.
=====
Outside, the minister clutched the emergancy transmitter in his pocket. That would hopefully bring down the full power of the Alfegos IS. Just in case, he noticed that the guards hadn't found his AFP 99 concealed in his jacket. With a 33 round clip and full automatic fire, he hoped that he might be able to make some attempt at escape. Not yet though.
=====
Two Apaches were flaming wrecks, with many hands lost. But the other had come round, and now had found the retreating enemy. The pilot let rip with the nose-guns
=====
The Coastal Fortress had picked up some more dots moving: helicopters. This was instantly sent to high command, where the prime minister sent another angry email to the Drvarskans
To the Drvarskan Government
We warned you the first time when you sent fighter-bombers into our nation. Now you are sending more air-units into our airspace, we give you one last chance: If you do not withdraw these air units, we will commence nuclear attack on your nation.
Have a nice day!

=====
The Helios missiles had been designed for nuclear holocaust: with 8
1 megaton warheads in each missile, one missile could devestate a small nation. And nothing could stop the barrage that would start soon.

Inside the building, the remaining security guards went about putting out the fires and repairing critical damage after the airstrike. They hoped the Dvarskans would pay.

The Drvarskan Defence minister recieved the angry transmission from Alfegos. He immediatly showed it to President Vladimir Orlov.
"Hmm, they are serious these Alfegos." he said as he read the message.
He sent back a message saying:
To: Alfegos Government
From: Drvarska Government
We have recieved your message of hate, we will withdraw all forces once we extract our team from your land. We do not wish to go into a Nuclear war with you, I hope someday our nations can arange a ceasefire.

Gorbachiv piled his men into the truck with the minister, Vasilli was getting better as the drug worn off.
"Did anyone body check the minister?" He said angrily. The two soldiers had forgotten, they immediatly searched the minister retrieving a weapon. One soldier realised the minister was holding something in his hand.
The truck reached their extraction point with light gunfire hitting them on the way. Many of the men were wounded but their armour saved their life.
The incoming Blackhawks and Mi-26 hinds were 1 min out. It was a matter of waiting.
==============
Drvarskan Naval Base
Four newly made Kilo class submarines set sail into the sea, they were equipped with 16 Nuclear SLBMs each. Also with their usual armament of 18 AEST Torpedos and 8 SA-N-10 Grimlet Surface-air missles.
Order of Submarine Fleet:
Fleet Commander - General Yuri Cheyek
D-19 - Commanded by Captain Dimitri Lokev
D-27 - Commanded by Captain Boris Yakolev
D-57 - Commanded by Captain Yuri Sukchev
D-72 - Commanded by Capatin Ivan Kruschek
Their orders is to stand by in case of a Nuclear war, not to fire unless fired upon.
==============
The F35s were fired upon by many Sidewinder missles which knocked out three of their aircraft, realising they could not attack 10 aircraft they retreated back to Drvarska. Along the way they saw the devastating effect of the Cluster bombs that went off at the prison facility.
The minister had lost his gun. Damn. But he had alerted the IS. They would be here very soon. And when they arrived, they would show their professional training in non-lethal attack: they would subdue these aggressors.
=====
The helicopter was coming after them. The nose guns had run out of ammo, not intended for long use. So it flew 300 m ahead of the truck, and dropped off the 4 armed soldiers on board.
=====
The jet transport careened down the runway and took off, before banking sharply towards the signal it had picked up. On board was a first-strike team of 10 men, rushed from the military base nearby. All were armed with specially designed non-lethal weapons: crossbows loaded with stun darts and TASERs as sidearms. They also had among them a few other devices: the sticky foam grenades still experimental and a few more conventional stun grenades.
They had parachutes strapped to their backs, and were ready for insertion. Just 1 more minute, and they would jump, following the signal as they fell. They would make sure the minister was alright.
=====
On the outskirts of Old Zevkhay, the RADAR had lit up, showing 10 fighters being pursued. The ones behind the 10 were the targets. In 30 seconds, they would be in range of the SAMs. Then if they survived that, there would be the flak coming out from all directions.
=====
The High command received the email. They were still furious at this incursion, but would make sure that they would pay.
=====
The Helios missiles were ready for firing: they had been given co-ordinates. They would wait and see if the situation didn't cool down.
They probably wouldn't resort to nuclear. Yet. The BZ missiles would suffice for now.
=====
Offshore, the submarine Gecko made its way so it was in range of the Drvarskan capital. Onboard were 4 SLBMs, each equipped with a BZ dispersal warhead. BZ gas was non-lethal, but was known to act as an effective weapon. It would cuase hallucinations and irrational behaviour in their capital. And no-one would know it was Alfegosian.
They were on standby, in case the situation escalated.

Gorbachiv quickly grabbed the transmitter in the minister's hand and threw it to the ground shattering it. Four enemy soldiers came into view, Gorbachiv Special forces team let out a hail of XM-8 fire and a couple grenades they had left over. Killing all four men but in return lost two of their own, 8 men remained. The two UH-60 Blackhawks and the six Mi-24 hinds had reached them and set down on the ground, the minister was put into one blackhawk first where he was guarded by four men with AK-47s. The rest of the team climbed aboard the other blackhawk, twelve men emerged from two mi-24s that climbed down to give them cover. They spotted above them parachutes coming down, the soldiers fired into the air a hail of AK-47 fire but they were not good at shooting moving targets in the air. The black hawks lifted but the soldiers were still there to give them cover.
===========
Off the Drvarskan Coast:
The SS Drvarska, an Iowa class battleship was patroling the Drvarskan coast along with two Sovremmeny class destroyer escorts, the SS Sarajevo and the SS Mostar. They picked up a faint signal but it was passed as some volcanic rock activity.
The four Kilo class submarines still remained at launch depth awaiting orders.
===========
The F-35s were retreating as some missles came at them, knocking out two more aircraft. The remaining aircraft broke off and made it to sea away from Old Zekhevy. There were only two reamining aircraft, the five who were hit did not survive.
The IS let loose a volley a crossbow bolts at the troops on the ground. As soon as they landed, they continued pacifying the enemy. There were now no ground troops left concsious. Two IS had fallen when they landed, but now they were down they could drag all the stunned men together into a heap and fire in vain at the retreating planes.
=====
The retreating F - 35s were pursued to the edge Alfegos airspace, then left. The fighters returned to the Old Zevkhay airbase.
=====
The president laughed when he heard the report from the IS. They had come for one prisoner, and had had 4 more stunned and taken hostage by the IS. But they had taken the minister of intelligence. That was one loss too many.
He ordered the cleanup crew to the interrogation centre, and sent the order to Squad Beta 2. The other extraction squad.
But unlike the enemy extraction, this operation would be more silent, more efficient.
=====
The minister felt the cyanide capusle sewn into the inside of his suit. Would it be necessery? No. Not yet.
=====
The B 4 Wyvern transport was loaded with the 10 man squad. These elites were anxious for the fight. They were ready to break out the minister and the other captives.
The plane was practically undetectable. It had been shown so during the Flood incident recently. Once the optical camo was active, it was invisible. But that would be problematic, as the plane would have to use all the energy allocated to the weapons systems. But it would be undetectable. And the 10 men would be perfectly placed to parachute in.
The plane prepared to take off. It went through the checks on the "special" systems, before it was ready to take off.
=====
The BZ missiles had been loaded into the chambers. The battleship above might pose a risk, but if it attacked them, the weapons onboard were perfectly capable of taking it on.
=====
The Helios missiles would not be fired. They were withdrawn back into the storage areas. But the cruise missiles were readied instead. There were a few antiques that needed using up.
In a boathouse on the quayside in New Zevkahy, a Mace cruise missile was locked onto the enemy missile installments, as shown by the infared satellite in orbit above the enemy nation. It wouldn't be necessery yet to fire. But when it did, the warhead would make sure that nothing would survive in the firing line.
This was being repeated in sites across the twin Zevkhay cities.

The two UH-60 Blackhawks made it back to base with its special cargo. Gorbachivs wounded men were taken by field ambulances. At the airfield the soldiers had to change the minister's clothes due to security reasons and be scanned for any other things he might be carrying. He was given a white prisoner uniform and then taken in an armoured car escorted by two trucks of prison guards to the prison facility that was located on a military installation. The facility was a large building located underground and gaurded by two companies of prison guards equipped with AK-47s and Tranquilizer M9 Berettas. The minister was put in a cell where he will remain for the next two hours until interrogation. Nearby two anti-aircraft batteries surrounded the facility where there was a 24 hour watch.

President Vladimir Orlov recieved reports that a Intelligence officer has been captured, he smiled.
"Good...good...Send this transmission to the Alfegos government immediatly." he said to his Defence minister.
"Right away sir."

We wish to let you know that he will be returned after a small interrogation phase and we wish to exchange him for any of our prisoners you might have. If you fail to comply and send in any of your forces within our land, he will be shot immediatly. Meanwhile we will withdraw any forces within your area.
We wish also to negotiate even further to a ceasefire.

The Kilo class submarines still remained at sea but outside Alfegos waters, they have orders to disengage but to remain patroling at sea.
The stealth plane had full spectrum camoflauge on. It had follwed the jets, and then the trucks, before the enemy installation had been found. It was almost impregnable. Almost. The plane circled the area, completely undetectable to infa-red, Optical or radar sensors.
The sergeant asked for permission for a missile strike.
=====
The president received the messege. It was nothing that he didn't know already.
He typed a reply
Dear Drvarskan Government
We are not prepared to negotiate with a government who attacks a military compound on our territory, killing over 64 people and putting the lives of civilians at risk, who then act as though nothing has happened.
We are prepared to release hell upon your nation, if you do not release the minister immediately.
If you do release the minister now, we will send back the hostages we took immediately, as well as the bodies of the other squad.
We have decided that nuclear weapons are not an option in this conflict, but will use conventional weapons and non-lethal chemical warfare against you.
Awaiting your reply
President A. Darel
=====
8 Maces had targets: the military installation. The other 12 had the task of destroying the enemy AM system.
=====
The missiles had targets now: the capital of Drvarska. The BZ gas would quickly cause chaos amongst the civilians, being undetectable, odourless and invisible.
=====
The minister was thrown into a cell in his white suit. He was prepared for the interview. He would not drink or eat anything, or reply to any questions. He had been an IS agent once, so would not be vexed by mere torture.

The attack on your facility was needed due to your broken agreement with us on not to harm any prisoners under any circumstance as well as not meeting our dead line for returning our prisoner, our nation could not afford to loose a man in captivity. We did not act as though nothing had happened, action had to be taken to retrieve him, we will give you a last warning that if you do launch an attack on us we will respond immediatly with our own WMDs as well as shooting your Intelligence minister. We understand you do not want to negotiate with us yet, but I warn you putting the lives of 23 million people at risk is not wise as well as your population.
Once again this is our final statement to you to stand down and in return we will do the same. Your minister WILL be returned within a few days in exchange for our men.
Sincerly,
Vladimir Orlov
===========
It was now time to interrogate the minsiter at the underground prison facility. Two guards walked into the cell.
"You must come with us now please" one of them said.
They escorted the minister towards the interrogation room where he sat at a table. A man walked in with a officers Olive green uniform on. He sat down opposite the minister and put his cap on the table.
"I understand that both of our countries are on the verge of a nuclear war. As usual we must interrogate our prisoners in these situations. Lets start off with your name then shall we?" he said.
The two guards stood inside the room next to the door with their AK-47s.
The minister looked blankly at the officers. He didn't say anything. He would try and provoke them. The he would be able to escape.
=====
The enemy wouldn't back down, would they? Action would be taken.
All the missiles allocated for the attack were fired: all 20 HE Maces broke out of their storage containers, before travelling just below mach 1 in a straight line directly at the enemy target.
At the same time, the Helios missiles were prepared, as well as the many tons of conventional ordinance.
=====
The president replied
The missiles currently travelling towards your nation are a warning shot: we will not back down and if you don't the missiles will carry on to their targets. You have 10 minutes until they detonate, destroying your missile defences, leaving you defenceless against the terror about ot come.
I hope you choose wisely.
President A Darel.
He hoped he would not have to let them detonate on their targets. Or have to deploy the Helios and Nemisis weapons systems.
=====
The squad waited. They would be deployed as the missiles impacted the Drvarskan base. In the confusion, no-one would see them enter.
=====
The Helios missiles again were readied. But his time, they were only in reserve. The Nemisis ICBMs would be the first weapons used. They would carry their warheads of CR, BZ and CN gas to the enemy population strongholds.
There were also a few of the Black Napalm missiles being readied. In case of nuclear war.

OOC: Alfegos I do think you might be godmodding a little for example, how would you know where my missle defences are? Why would you try to destroy a whole nation just for one man that will be returned? Do you think a minister will go all ninja style and breakout of a heavily guarded facility by himself? While your weapons land on them? (Not to be offensive but this is rather farfetched)
IC:
Vladimir Orlov recieved the message, he was shocked at how a nation would try to destroy another just for one minister who will be returned. He rubbed his head and he didnt want to make the order he was going to do.
"Are the subs ready?" he said to his Chief war minister who brought in a briefcase that will activate all Nuclear missles.
"Yes sir..Would you please provide us with the authentication code." he replied.
He handed him a card with an array of numbers.
"Mine is fourth from the top."
He activated the briefcase and entered the code.
"Very well sir, all that requires is the push of this button sir. Then we will throw everything we have against them.."
President Vladimir Orlov stared at the briefcase.
"We shall make one last transmission gentlemen." he finally said.
To: Alfegos Government
From: Drvarskan Government
We are aware of your anger for your minister, in one last message of peace we wish to request that we both stand down for the next few hours. Please respond to this and we will negotiate even further for your minister, do not attack and we shall not.
I repeat do not attack and we both stand down for the next few hours.
"Hopefully they will come to their senses."

Meanwhile in all Drvarskan cities/towns
The alarm sounded and all families grouped together under the subways and into the bunkers where the doors were sealed off from any nuclear blast or gas attacks.
===============
Drvarskan waters
All four of the Kilo class submarines came back up to launch depth again, all with their SLBMs at the ready. All that was needed was the authentication and they will let loose a hail of Nuclear explosions in and around Alfegos. There were 64 SLBMs at the ready each with a payload of 2 kilotons of enriched uranium...

Drvarskan Military camps
The alarm went everywhere and within minutes each soldier was changing into their chemical suits. Every division was on the alert.

"It seems your country has already launched missles coming straight at us, you will most likely be killed if they hit our soil... Provide us with the cancelation codes and your life and your whole country will be spared. If you do not..."
The officer got out his M9 beretta and cocked it.
The president made up his mind.
"Abort launch of all weaponry. But stay at DEFCON 1. We will wait for a few hours to see what happens. That obviously didn't work."
=====
The 20 Mace missiles self-destructed above the sea. They didn't really mind self-destructing them, as they had been ridiculously cheap, and were all armed with dud warheads.
=====
The minister for Intelligence smiled at the guards threatening him. He said nothing, knowing that they weren't active. It was the usual tactic of the Alfegos government.
=====
The stealth plane flew away from the facility, at top cruising speed. The pilot checked the radar. Once they were on the edge of the enemy airspace, they turned off the full-spectrum camoflauge, to unnerve the watchers on the ground.

"What? They are very good these Alfegos.." he said as he sat back down on his chair.
"What are your actions sir?" The minister of defence asked as he walked back over to the briefcase.
"Shut off all missles, stand down. Withdraw all submarines." Orlov said sitting back in his chair. The minister was shocked to hear this.
"Sir, we will be vulnerable to a nuclear attack.."
"I know.. You will do what I say and send another transmission."

"Looks like you handled that well. We have some good news for you, you are to be returned to your nation as soon as we recieve a transmition from your government." the officer said.
He left the room with his guards leaving the pistol on the table, there were no bullets in it.
OOC: We could make a new thread for the peace conferance if you like Alfegos, just so we dont use up too much space here. Sorry again for earlier but sometimes you have to say these things.
OOC: Don't worry. I'll start another thread for the peace talks.
SIC:
The Alfegos president read the email. "Good. I think that worked. Tell them that we will start peace talks at the senate this afternoon. And shut down the nuclear missile silos, and withdraw the sub, before reducing DEFCON to 3. I think we can trust them at least."
The president put on his jacket, before stepping outside into the afternoon rain. Now he would go and make the necessary arrangements on the senate hill.

The minister was manhandled out of the room. Finally. He was going home.
"I hope I can have my suit and gun back" he asked the guards. "It coast me quite a bit.

"We've just recieved a message guys, we're going to have to head to Bedford, there's some Weccanfeld troops their..."
The Troops Packed up what was like a Mobile Camp, and headed toward Badford knee deep in what the troops hoped was mud,
"Sir, we wont make it today, we're gonna have to set up camp soon!" shouted a rather brave troopp at the back
"And we will son, gosh you Guys don't half eat alot, and this is the only Railway we'll come close to on the way to Bedford looks like we'll miss supper and hopefully get some more supplies via rail in the morning
Dear Mr Sunhawk, could you send some supplies to our troops who are by the railway 10 miles from Bedford, we have about 15,000 troops here so it'll be quite alot of food and drink, Oh! and toiletries some teeth hasn't been brushed in a while...
Hope to hear from you soon
The Regal Rep Guards set up watch for the night has the troops drifted away, there was no give-away on the location of the troops so they should be safe...
IC: The town of Langley was in chaos from the train bomb sent in at the front of the advance. This would make it all the more easy for the HIFVs and APCs to enter without too much of a fight. Now 12 miles from the outskirts of the town, they would soon be able to overrun the enemy.
Suddenly, a forward recon vehicle was hit by some sort of missile, and exploded. The rest of the forward advance was suddenly halted, and the guns on the top were quickly manned.
"We've hit enemy resistance. Requesting emergancy support immediately! I repeat, NOW!" the captain of the command vehicle in the middle of the formation yelled down the radio link.
The HIFVs took up position on the outside of the group at a halt, while the infantry deployed from the APCs near the centre, hitting the deck as they were met by a hail of machinegun fire.
=====
The cruise missiles lay ready in their silos: they now had some new objectives, not Drvarska. 10 Maces, this time loaded with proper HE warheads, were now ready to launch at the CA capital of York. This time, the civilians would be the target.
The missiles were launched, soon reaching mach 0.9. Now they locked onto their targets: two on the waterworks, 2 on the train depot, 4 on the powerplants and 2 at the radio station of York. This would hopefully be enough to force them to surrender.
=====
Just in case, 10 more were prepared, to lock onto anything that attempted to shoot them down.
=====
OOC: Ok... Alfegos... what's happening out there? Why did your army appear out of nowhere in Langley and bypassed the CA Ambush? Do recall that there was an ambush waiting for those specific forces.

After an endless night the Troops awoke to find no sign of Supplies, Cpt Johannson ran into General Peters Tent,
"Where the Hell is the food? Our troops need food!"
"Don't worry i'll send another E-mail to the Tribal Stronghold, the troops will have to hold on until dinner-time,"
"You better hope so or were gonna have to leave..." The Captain left the Tent as General Peters turned to his laptop,
Dear Mr Sunhawk, could you send some supplies to our troops who are by the railway 10 miles from Bedford, we have about 15,000 troops here so it'll be quite alot of food and drink, Oh! and toiletries some teeth hasn't been brushed in a while...
Hope to hear from you soon!
The troops, while hungry, set out their tactics on how they would try to take out the Weccanfeld troops outside Bedford
OOC- How big is the Weccanfeld Force outside of Bedford?
A sea of blood...
In the north, the carnage of Roser, the great ambush of Langley.
In the Center North, the skirmishes of Etoile Arcture and Weccanfeld.
In the South, the war was going to get to a whole new level.
---
The raging storm had muddied the land of Alestra. The ground was thirsty and for now the heavens were providing, but soon another liquid would clench that thirst.
Colonial Alliance, Second & Third Armies.
"Gentlemen, we have received our orders. As of 24.00 tonight 'Operation Thunderfall' shall commence. I expect the best from you and your men.
Dismissed."
As the general finished the briefing session the high ranking officers of the CA scurried to their units. The largest offensive in this war was about to take place.
On the battle lines the soldiers were restless, even though nobody bothered to inform them of what was going to happen, secrecy being maintained up to the last minute, they could feel it in their bones that something was going to happen.
"Have a light?" one of them asked his comrades.
"Just quit it Jonsie. Smokes will get you killed."
"Like that really matter no," the man answered pointing at his gun.
"Yes it does," the other soldier cut him off, "You might get into troubles with those," he finished, pointing at a sniper that was checking his weapon.
"Oh..." came the week reply.
"Let's get ready, I have a feeling the big one is coming."
---
But where these men were still waiting, the ones in the north were already fighting.
The enemy had fallen in their trap and now it was only a matter of seconds before the carnage was about to start.
"Say hello to papa," one of the CA soldiers whispered as he pressed a red button.
Almost instantly, carefully hidden bombs detonated under the Alfegos convoy.
In York the mysterious battle platform was already assessing the threat posed by the incoming missiles. They would be ready for them and for any other missiles heading their way.
---
Tribal Stronghold Video Conference.
"Gentlemen, as you well know tonight at 23.55 Operation Lightning Strike is schedule to commence. I am aware that the weather is against us, but we can no longer delay this operation, unless we desire for the CA reinforcements to arrive at the line.
Gentlemen, I expect the best of you. Dismissed."
The wheels of the Tribal war machine were turning, with the First & Second army preparing for their assigned tasks.
In the lines, just like their enemies, the soldiers were anxious. The tension in the air was thick enough that you could cut with a knife through it.
"Get some sleep men, won't be long now."
"Yes sir."
"And check your weapons for the love of the Gods."
"Yes sir."
It was these men, these destinies and countries that were going to be put on the line in just a few hours.
OOC: I'll address the major issues I skipped soon. The next post is going to show the major offensive taking place.
Also, remember that Alestra is literally in the middle of nowhere with The Principality being the 'closest' neighbour.
The convoy, stopped in the road, suddenly was rocked by massive explosions. Most of the vehicles were destroyed, with only 2 APCs and 1 HIFV still working. The command vehicle had taken a glancing hit, but the comms were still working.
"Where are the re-enforcements, for gods sake!"
Of the 2000 troops in the forward advance, only 700 were still able to fight back. Many were badly injured, or killed, trapped inside the burning wrecks of their vehicles. There was gun-fire coming from all sides, and already one of the machince-gunners had been taken by a sniper.
Regaining some sort of order amongst the remnants of the 1st division, the Brigadier ordered the first 5 companies to attack the left flank, and the others the right. Though only about 720 men were estimated to be able to participate in this, they hopefully would be enough.
=====
Squads Gamma and Iota were at the forefront of the attack on the left flank. There was a sudden escalation of fire from the 2nd division, before the forest was hit by mortor fire from 8 mortor squads in the 2nd.
Then, in the confusion, smoke grenades were fired from the operational vehicles to cover the advance of troops.
=====
The head of squad Iota, known as sergeant Alf among the men, yelled as the squad charged across 40 metres of bare land into the forest. Suddenly, chaos reigned: the man on his left was hit by bullet to the shoulder, while squad Gamma was all but obliterated by a grenade.
Alf made it with 4 men of his squad into the foliage, where they started letting loose with the AF - 07 assault rifles.
=====
The remaining 2nd diviosn began firing on the right flank, now the left flank was occupied.
=====
The other 2000 men 6 miles south saw the massive plumes of smoke, before the screams came over the radio uplink. The bulk of the infantry was in lorries. They wouldn't be able to get their in time.
The commander ordered 30 LY4 wolfhounds, with AA support, to increase speed to maximum possible, while to the side, the 20 mortar carriers stopped, and raised their heavy 80 mm mortars. Once they had some co-ordiantes, they would begin firing on the enemy, wherever they were.
=====
The second, smaller force of 1000 men, with 10 LY4 wolfhouds, were instantly order to cease their pincer movement on the enemy town of Langley, and turn their attention to supporting the men i the massive ambush.
=====
=====
The 10 Maces were now almost a mile from their targets. Suddenly, they came under fire from a mysterious source: 5 missiles were destroyed, and another 2 were knocked off course into the sea. One crashed overland into patch of dead-land, engulfing the nearby civilian buildings in fire. Another got a hit from shrapnel to the guidance fins, and screamed out of the sky into the burning ruins of the fuel depot.
The other missile hit home: A direct hit to the furnace in the coal-fired power station.
=====
=====
Back home, the command was surprised: what could have got all of those missiles?
The ministry of intelligence instantly sent a signal to the ASPU, to get the most available satellite, EITS 8 to move to a lower orbit. While it would only be a short sweep, it would provide enough intel to decode.
OOC: Alfegos, casualties are decided by the defender.
IC:
So far the trap was working perfect and the enemy was bringing more and more of their forces in an attempt to win the engagement.
It was however an attempt that was going to cost them. Shortly their escape routes will be cut and they'll be faced with an encirclement they would be unable to break.
---
In the forest the troops slowly retreated as the enemy finally started to get its act together. After all the mine field was enough of a greeting.
So far casualties were light and plan was working.
"Roger that. Enemy positions have advanced according to plan, executing second phase."
---
With firm orders in place the Colonial Army started its next move.
As predicted the southern group of Alfegons was rushing to aid the ones in the north. It was then that they launched their strike.
All of the sudden artillery shells started raining on the unfortunate soldiers while advanced units already locked down their targets and started firing.
---
There was just one last element left unattended, the small group in the north. The troops assigned to them were waiting, knowing it was only a matter of time before they will fall in their trap.
---
In York the battle platform immediately returned to a low profile. There was nothing left for someone to suspect that anything came out of it.
The commander watched in amusement as the news networks reported civilian casualties. They could have intercepted them all, but that would have done little for their goals.
The city was another matter entirely as more pressure was placed on the remaining power centrals while fire fighters and the police force dealt with the casualties.
---
In Bedford supplies were being shipped for the frontlines. Rumour was that a food shortage was present.

"Okay Good News guys..." claimed the General as he walked over to the centre of the camp,
"We eat Lunch and then go into Bedford to fight the Weccanfeldians, this food shall last us 7 days, we could hopefully take them out by then..."
"But Sir, we don't know how many there is..."
"Well we'll send a force out, like the battle of Little Big-Horn, Custer went ahead to see how many troops they were... and if you're volunteering,"
"Sir, do you know what happened to Custer at the Battle of Little Big Horn?" asked the Captain taking a Gulp
"Yes but we're not exactly going to run into battle with an opposition 10x the size of us are we!? Why are we talking about this, Captain Johannson, get the other three captains and report back here we have some tactics to decide on..."
The Captain walked off into the set of Tent's while the General finished his Lunch.

OOC: ? I didn't put in any of your casualties, only mine
IC:
Chaos was there again, the Brigadier trying to maintain control in the men trying to fight an enemy on al sides. Most of the 1st half was pinned down on two sides, while the second half had been all but annihilated. The 2nd division was trying to fend off the enemy on all sides, and gradually diminishing in numbers.
The Brigadier considered it again, then called the mainland. They would have to do it. It was the only option.
"Requesting missile strike on my current position."
=====
Further dwon the road, the tanks were hit by the massive artillery bombardment. Bits of less armoured vehicles flew everywhere, and the infantry were soon pinned down in the wreckage. The LY4s were faring better, and continued onwards. There were only 20 now, ten of them disabled, but not destroyed. That was the testiment of Lyran technology.
They were now only 9 miles from the combat zone. They hopefully would soon be able to engage the enemy ambush.
=====
Further north, the 3 rd group were moving south towards the ambush zone. MOst of this force was designed to be an armoured force, with few APCs, and mostly HIFVs, missile systems, sensor units and mounted gun carriers.
Suddenly, sensor 2, the furthest forward, picked up strange activity. He was about to dismiss it as glitch, when suddenly, confirmation was picked up on the other sensor unit in the centre. Immediately, the group entered a defensive formation, the heaviest vehicles on the edges.
=====
The mortar group was under fire as well: only 2 units were left. But they soon commenced the bombardment.
=====
=====
On the mainland, 2 Sledgehammer missiles slid off of the rails they were mounted on, and followed the radio beacon towards their target.
=====
=====
At the beachead fort, two surviving MLRS vehicles were started up, and slowly moved to the centre of the parade ground. Once there, they locked to the ground and confirmed co-ordinates. They then began unloading the heavy cluster missiles towards the target.

OOC: Think I'll do Sol now and Alf later. I'm tired. Well, time to send in the cheapo stuff.
On the Weccanfelt airfield, some planes were taking off. But these weren't jet planes. Those were still fighting from the Airfield on a nearby isalnd base. No, these were the old Hornet planes. Propellers buzzed as the planes began to take off. Their cargo consisted of Anti Tank Autocannons. The planes were stuffed with ammo. They were cheap, but they were well made. And they were ready to shoot any vehicles or infantry on sight.
The Mechinised Sections were advancing. The force was 7000 men strong in total, not including aerial, logistical, and artillery support, all of which was heavy.
The standard troop was heavily drilled, and had plenty of supplies on his person, although the equipment was hardly cutting edge. Still, they wore flamboyant padded jackets with kevlar here and there, which did offer protection.
The vehicles were pretty much the same. The crews were well trained, and had plenty of resources, but the tanks were not made with what the government deemed inefficent technologies. Reactive and slat armour were favorates, as were fast engines. The tanks and IFVs were meant to flank, not level. And that they did well.
So, as the army soldiered on into the rain, reports came in of an enemy camp, but these were unconfimed. But, as always, the Weccanfelt troops were expecting an attack any time soon.

We wish to request that none of our soldiers are to be harmed in the process of withdrawing. We have a naval convoy en route that would take them back to Drvarska.
President Orlov of Drvarska
The Republic of Drvarska
OOC:
Attention Alversia,
You still need to accept a toll of casualties that your troops inflicted in Roser from my forces that attacked you. This can be found on page 12 (scroll down half way) for more information. Thank you.

The 2 Infantry squadrons consisting of 4500 troops each head, at different angles, into combat with the Weccanfelt force. With a reserve force of 4000 staying behing in the case of an attack from an ally force the Solenial troops advanced.
Richard Longbottom, a private in the Solenial Army ran towards an enemy trooper and totally froze. This was a common sight in new recruits and so Captain Terry ran to support the right flank, with 40 other troops. Meanwhile, Solenial cannons rained HEAT and SABOT warheads into the enemy Artillery while advacing into closer combat, using the .75 'Western' Machine Gun placed on the Peak of the Tanks.
All troops were armed to the teeth with all 'experimental' weaponry of the Solenial Ministry of Defence, The 'Solauto' Machine Gun been proved quite effective in the 'Sub-Urban' Conflict. and wih plenty of Padding from Gun-shots which is suprisingly better than any Metal used to stop them, that didn't however stop them from wearing bulletproof vests. Due to the 'Cooler' Temperature the troops could wear this sort of Protection but protection as such in a Desert like Temperate would be a whole different matter.
Still, The troops were taught to keep their Heads down so any strike to the head is likely to hit the Helmet which is more protection than none. As Gunshots echoed around the City of Bedford, General Peters wrote a message to the Prince
Dear Prime Minister Ryan,
We are recently advancing into the city of Bedford but we cannot tell the way of the battle yet, hope to send you good news soon...
General Peters
As the Prime Minister walked to his Computer and recieved this mail he ammiediately called his Assistant,
"Barbara, Get me the Alestra Folder..."
"Here Sir." The Prince picked up the Folder,
"Ah, Bedford, Weccanfeld, This shall be interesting..."

OOC: I'm not in a sub urban area yet. I'm still on a Moor-type terrain. Also, the artillery, does seem a bit strange how you know where it is. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one, however. On one condition.
The Firebase woke to enemy fire.
Shells tumbled out of the skies, hitting quite a few guns and lorries. The crew quickly ran to their guns, however, and began to turn them.
In the skies high above Alestra, a spy satellite began to edge it's way toward the point just above the artillery. The camera had locked on, and was ready to aid the artillery in firing back.
The firebase had taken further hits, one impacting a magazine, causing it to spectacularly explode. But the advantage of the enemy was about to dissipate, as the artillery guns began to fire back. Every last one of them started to pump their shells back at the enemy.
Also, the planes that had taken off from the airport had their target. A artillery battery. With jet fighters coming in from the other sections of the line to achieve aerial superiority, the battery would soon find the enemy was biting back. Hard.
OOC: I'll do the non-support war later.

OOC- Sorry about the accidents :P
IC- The Artillery and Air Suppord of the Weccanfelt troops superiourly overwhelmed that of the Solenial's and would have to find an advantage elsewhere
"Johannson! Fire at the Side of their Tanks, That should be weaker than the front..." Shouted Cpt Terry screamed
"But Terry! that would mean exposing what little Artillery Force we have..."
"It's a risk worth taking.... let's hope this works :( "
Meanwhile the Infantry's Solauto's were firing fiercely at the opposition,
"I'll call for Artillery Support."
"Sir, thats limited, what about the chance of an attack from behind?"
"Well we'll have to take that risk!"
"It's always a Bloody Risk with you isn't...?!"
A Fireball blasted to the Right of Captain just as he was to conclude his criticism. A code was sent from a small legion of infantry not so far from the battle
Sir, Were gonna need Artillery Backup, Oh and that Sattelite we set up a year ago? we'll need that to...
The General 2 Miles back, recieved the message instantly and sent a reply
Captain, I guess i can send your Artillery support but the sattelite is questionable, it will take at least half a day...
The troops faught on, the Artillery suffering

is anyone home!?
Deep within the Ultimatum, inside the main engine room, Bastik Fegran swore in Fegosian as he furiously reparied the main steam and power feeds, almost completely destroyed. Almost.
As he finished the fuel leads, he gave the signal to the engine room officer. A hum filled the room as massive charge filled the cables from the generator room, followed by a hiss of steam. Slowly, the engine started to screech into life, protesting at the patchwork of emergancy welds and repairs. The main drive shafts had been blown out, but were temporaroly being held by massive bundles of metal pipes, calculated to at least allow half speed.
=====
As the captain felt the jolt, he gave an order to the engine room to start moving at half speed towards the swarm of gunboats in the distance. That submarine could wait.
Just as a little precaution, the commander though it necessary to releive the ship of its compliment of anti-submarine mines. The wake of the ship left 75 medium charges floating at depths programmed by the onboard weapons system computers. As they reached their depths, they stabilised themselves, before extending probes that would detect any incoming submarines in two ways: either by ferro-magnetic fields in the submarine, or a cruder contact switch, that would detonate on the touch of a submarine.
=====
The captain of the Firestorm had his men currently unoccupied take position in the shelter of the ship's armoured flank, ready to pour forwards if the enemy boarded.
The railgun teams were among those, who had finally exhausted their ammunition and had worn out the glowing rails. The coolant fluid was not working effectively, much of it lost when a shell made sure that the primary storage tank was unable to self-repair: the platlet-like particles in the ships piping had absolutely no chance of repairing such a large gash.
In the ships reactor room, the reactor room was alerted, and the reactor prepared to hopefully make sure that the threat against the enemy worked.
=====
The captain hoped that no-one in thier right mind would try and sink a ship with an onboard nuclear reactor and 10 kilograms of plutonium fuelrods and 200 g of high-level waste with god-knew-what in.
If they boarded, they would disable the reactor. Therefore, the reactor was set to drop all shielding at the signs of enemies entering the reactor room for about 10 seconds. The enemy would die within minutes, while the reactor room itself would shield the rest of the ship, at the cost of the loss of a few years of service life. That would hopefully stop the enemy if they boarded.
That was last-resort. The captain was hopefully in his right mind.
If they had to do that though...
On land, the battle was escalating. The cluster bombs from the MLRS meant that the Alfegos troops had to withdraw to their wrecked vehicles, where they would be sitting ducks for artillery.
Once there was a subsidal of fire from the artillery, grenades started spreading streams of smoke across the area. Through it charged the entire group of infantry, firing madly at the enemy. Once they entered the trees, they continued charging madly, and with the fixed bayonets they impaled the enemy soldiers in their way.
500 metres from the wrecks of the ambush, the men regrouped and turned around in a clearing. At least 100 of them had fallen then, but they had killed many more, they thought.
Behind them, there were two explosions as the cruise missiles sreamed onto the wreckage.
=====
Further round, the Recon group were enaged in a firefight with the would-be ambushers. It would soon end: it looked like the Alfegos vehicles outgunned the ambushers, who seemed reluctant to fire.
=====
In the woods, the brigadier limped through the undergroth, bracing himself for sudden death as he struggled from the crater.
