Jäger Angriff Überspannen-64
JAU-64 'Tigerclaw' multiroll Fighter
Hunter Attack Spanning Fighter Model 64
In designing the aircraft, several layouts were studied. TAD ultimately selected an unstable canard design. The canard configuration gives a high onset of pitch rate and low drag enabling the aircraft to be faster, have longer range and carry a larger payload.
Flying properties and performance are optimized for fighter missions with high demands on speed, acceleration and turning performance. The combination of delta wing and canards gives the JAU-64 Tigerclaw good take-off and landing performance and flying characteristics. The totally integrated avionics make it a "programmable" aircraft. The Tigerclaw also has a built in electronic warfare unit making it possible to load more ordnance onto the aircraft without losing self defence capabilities.
The JAU-64 Tigerclaw affords far more flexibility than earlier generations of combat aircraft used by Tigerlan, and its operating costs are about two thirds of those for the F-16 Flying Falcon
The specifications for the Tigerlclaw required the ability to operate from 800 m runways. Early on in the program, all flights from TAD's(Tigerlan Avionics Development) facility in Vesting were flown from within a 9 m × 800 m outline painted on the runway. Stopping distance was reduced by extending the relatively large air brakes; using the control surfaces to push the aircraft down enabling the wheel brakes to apply more force and tilting the canards forwards, making them into large air brakes and further pushing the aircraft down.
One interesting feature is the Tigerclaws ability to land on public highways. Once on the ground, it can be refueled and re-armed in ten minutes by a five man mobile ground crew operating out of a truck, then take off again and resume flying sorties.

Electronics and sensors:
The Electronics and sensors of the JAU-64 are created by Union Dynamics of the Fedral Union, using all digitalized glass cock pit , and heavily integrated avionics, using photonic Fly by light controls, integrated battle net, LIDAR/RADAR over the horizon RADAR and GPS accurate to with in a few hundred meters. The battle net can link up and communicate with any friendly forces in the area, as well as access instant information from ships satellites and ground sources, the canopy it self is an LCD crystal display using fiber optic wiring, it automatically tracks targets , targets the nearest enemy fighter. An axillary display is also available. The electronics package also includes auto GPS and automatic remote guidance for missiles, as well as next generation ECM and ECCM systems.
The JAU-64 is also equipped with an auto dispensing chaff and decoy system, any threat or lock on to the craft will result in automatic determination of speed, thread and position , and either recommend that an Anti radiation missile/ Active radar homing missile be used. Against a SAM site , or the system will automatically dispense chaff or a decoys. The sensors also contain Radar warning receivers good up to 500 NM or (805 KM)
