OOC: FT Tourism RP
New Dornalia

Seeing as FT is slow recently, I decided to have a go at something interesting. Mainly, tourists visiting New Dornalia and having fun. Perhaps getting into a little bit of trouble with the locals, but still having a little bit of fun. After all, I need to RP a little more about my civilians, instead of just playing with my factbook all the time.
The setup would go like this. The RP would be hosted in Dornalian Los Angeles, and would follow a weeklong vacation among a group of people, with plots either diverging or combined. The action would be silly, but somewhat serious as well.
The only rules would be basically no espionage, no international incidents (the troublemaking kind, not the forum kind), just hijinks with the locals that are enough to make trouble, but not go to war over.
Any questions?

Sure, that'll work fine for me. A bit of 'cultural espionage' and general being snooty to the ignorant heretic wolflings'll be fine with me :D

Hey this would sound like a fun one but i got some bad news
your country says you are THE WORKERS STATE of ......ect
that names sounds too communistic for our country
and seeing as our nation is fascist your nations has been put on the blacklist of travel countries for my citizens. too bad :(
although it would be interesting to see how tourists that have been heavily brainwashed in fascism would handle travelling to a soclialist nation and dealing with the locals that have an opposite set of beliefs hahaha
Please delete your post. Besides, this is for future tech only, not modern tech.....

Heh. Sounds like a plan....only, what are wolflings?
Its a term used in David Brin's Uplift novels to describe a species that attained space travel on its own, as opposed to being 'uplifted' by a senior race. The Tandu consider it an insult :P

Sounds like an interesting idea. I'm sure I can come up with someone to go on a visit.

Not opposed to psychics, or as we call 'em, "Psykers," using the 40k term. In fact, there's a large group of Force users in New Dornalia that's pretty much encouraged public acceptance of them, the People's Acolytes. As for unusual beings, not really, we've been living with them for a bit. You might get some stares though, and odd whispers from the older folk.
Also, most shops do take electronic currency; we take Common Credits, and New Dornalian Dollars, though we also accept US Dollars. Be aware some minority groups in ND, mainly the catpeople, will trust paper currency more though. Some may only take paper currency.
Bring a strong tolerance for alcoholic beverages.
LA has a pretty good mass transit under the MacIntyre Administration. You got a functioning metro system, taxis, and buses. For drama's sake, try the taxis. They're a hoot.
Other relevant stuff can be found here: http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/New_Dornalia
The Minorities and Military sections (for the People's Acolytes) will be pretty useful, though expect them to be augmented with other fun stuff RPed out. After all, the Acolytes are more than just a military order. :)
{OoC: I would definetly be interested, gives me a chance to try out my people in the way their ment to be Roleplayed. The Link for info doesn't seem to work though, might just be my Computer.}

For old times sake, I'm interested as either Alliance or Empire. You decide

Kanami: Sure.
New Brittonia: Interesting.....would he be visiting? Otherwise, I could have him somewhere in Los Angeles running a famous watering hole (quality level is up to you). Otherwise again, tell me a little more about him.

In the meantime, further info, for reference--this is a shortlist, you're not necessarily limited to these, but this is a starter if you choose to join. A lot of these places are found in RL Los Angeles, but they're obviously not like New Dornalian Los Angeles.
Famous Spots:
Commissariat of Science HQ--housed in the Griffith Observatory, the CoS is a massive complex where New Dornalian science calls home. Though parts are restricted, tours are available and a gift shop and the Atoms Away restarurant are open from 9-8.
National Music Library--located in Downtown near the Palace of the Soviets, this is a big tourist attraction, with exhibits on local music, live bands and archive upon archive of recordings and sheet music for you to peruse at your leisure. Also has the famous "Townshend Guitar," which draws crowds eager to prove or disprove its authenticity.
Torrance--The Torrance Commerce Plaza evolved out of a merger of the old Del Amo Fashion Center and the old Eshirian Zone that people kept building on, and is one of the biggest malls in New Dornalia. Even has its own zip code and police force.
Chinatown--a gourmand's paradise, and a place remarkably well preserved with excellent examples of pre-Apocalypse architecture seamlessly joining with modern skyscrapers. Also home to excellent places to get oriental gifts for that special someone if you're a tourist.
Little Tokyo--home to the Coredian Embassy. Also a good place for people who want to find technological gadgets of all kinds they can't get in Torrance, and a big artists' haven for those who wanna see art and theater.
National Military Museum--located a short drive from the Queen Mary in Ft. MacArthur, this houses Dornalian military gear from the days of the Apocalypse to the present, and presents the life of the Dornalian soldier as well.
The National Art Hall--located on the ruins of the old LA County Museum of Art, this houses artworks from all over New Dornalia, modern and ancient.
Hollywood--needs no other explanation but this: Though its luster faded during the Pre-MacIntyre Era, it's gone roaring back due to pro-business incentives and the changing culture of New Dornalia. Two of the more famous studios there are Popafilm Studios, the old Pre-MacIntyre film agency and the newest hotshot, Freeman Studios, Inc. The area is also a popular hotspot for archaeologists specializing in Pre-Apocalypse culture, owing to its huge stores of pre-Apocalypse film, and kitschy shopowners eager to exploit the past and present culture of movie stardom.
