The Londinian colony of Sumatripte, despite hosting a failed revolution, was nonetheless granted independence by the People's Sovereign Repuiblic of British Londinium.
The new microstate will have a unicameral parliament that will elect a First Minister to serve as the head of government. The country's new First Minister, Antonius Key, will be responsible for all aspects of standard government policy.
However, the head of state will be a governor-general, elected by the Sumatriptite people, and then 'confirmed' by the Londinian president.
Independence was granted at midnight precisely, when the Statue for Sumatriptite Indepedence, passed by the Londinian Parliament, took effect.
Many in the Democratic Republic of Sumatripte's capital, Sumqayit, rejoiced at their freedom, but most continue to hold a positive view of British Londinium, especially refugees returning from emergency shelters in New Londinia.
Neither the new First Minister of the Londinian government have commented on the possibility of reunification with Lord Sumguy.
