OOC: There's some background to the coup here. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=533694

At 630 hours in the morning, the House of Lords and the House of Commons declared their verdict. The voting breakdown was as follows:

House of Lords:
Abdulcemil Sereri: 501
Nogai Sereri: 465
Sibeoci Sereri: 10
Möngke Sereri: 24

House of Commons:
Abdulcemil Sereri: 44
Nogai Sereri: 489
Sibeoci Sereri: 24
Möngke Sereri: 43

Parliament decided to have a run-off election between Abdulcemil Sereri and Nogai Sereri at 800 hours but this process was disrupted by the actions of the Imperial Guard. At 730 hours, members of the Imperial Guard led by General Field Marshal Alute Sereri stormed the House of Parliament. The capital Tataria exploded in civil war as Parliamentary and Royalist forces battled in the streets. The House of Parliament was stormed while both Nogai Sereri and Abdulcemil Sereri were making their final speeches. Möngke Sereri endorsed the attempted coup as it was going to put him in power.

The military was absolutely devastated by the turn of events. The highly religious military also expressed outrage at the atheism of both Abdulcemil Sereri and Nogai Sereri and lamented the overwhelming double defeat of both a prominent social reformer and religious man. A General Field Marshal, Commander of the Imperial Guard, and Queen of Altaysky, Alute Sereri felt cheated as well.

The Parliamentary Guard and the Imperial Guard fought brutally in the capital city of Tataria. Alute Sereri was able to secure a large foreign shipment of automatic assault rifles, RPG launchers, machine guns, and sniper rifles. While many of these weapons were outdated (explaining how Field Marshal Sereri was able to obtain them at such a low price), they fared very well against the bolt-action rifles used by the Parliamentary Guard, especially in urban combat. In an hour, the House of Parliament had been reduced to rubble. Up to fifteen hundred of Parliamentary perished in the destruction of the House of Parliament, many of them gunned down, the rest killed when the Imperial Guard destroyed the supporting foundation of the House of Parliament causing it to collapse on many survivors. Around one hundred members of Parliament sided with the Royalists and defected from the Parliamentary faction. At least four hundred surviving members of Parliament attempted to flee Tartaria and the Parliamentary guard engaged in more bloody conflict with the Imperial Guard in order to help them evacuate. Members of the National Guard arrived from nearby cities to help cut off their escape route. The air was frigid. It was almost fifty degrees Celsius below zero. Snow blanketed the entire city.

Conflict continues to explode in the capital city as the Parliamentary Guard desperately fights to escape. Nogai Sereri was confirmed to have surrendered to the Imperial Guard but was supposedly bayoneted and killed when attempting to surrender. Möngke Sereri was reported to have been hit from a sniper bullet in the chest and is supposedly in critical condition.

It is now noon. Parliamentary forces continue their desperate struggle for survival against the Imperial Guards. Though numerically superior, obscene losses and the incoming arrival of the National Guard have reversed that. Allegations of war crimes and massacres have plagued both sides.

As losses mount up, the battle only intensifies as the position becomes more desperate, more dangerous, and more brutal.

Both sides have frantically messaged hordes of foreign nations and in fact, probably every foreign nation, for assistance for their respective side. Both sides are eagerly waiting foreign replies.

Both the Royalist and Parliamentarian forces have resent their requests for both diplomatic recognition and aid to the international community.

The Royalists are overturning all established precedent. If they win, all they will establish is a despotic military dictatorship. We were the ones trained our lives to run states and we should be the ones to run states. There is no place in government for crass soldiers and crude reformists. Aristocracy is the rule of the best and we are the best. They are slow of thinking, intellectually weak, and still cling fanatically onto their superstitions. We cannot allow rabble to take control of our government and establish theocratic and fanatical mob rule. The result would be catastrophic. Radical Imperial change will lead us to oblivion.
- Lord Speaker Morjigite

Imperial power is the only way to ensure freedom in the Empire. The Emperor, being a nonbiased official, can look out for the safety and well-being of the people without having to worry about political repercussions. The parliament is corrupt and has been hijacked by a group that is mostly self-serving. What the people of Tartarystan needs is not a Parliament, but a National Assembly backed with Imperial power. And the right to vote needs to be ensured to all Altaic citizens. We have asked for Universal Suffrage for all Altaic citizens over twenty-one for decades and we have not received it. We will achieve this with force, establish a national assembly, push toward modernization, and preserve the holy nature of our state.

Both Parliamentary and Royalist forces know nothing about Datium. In addition to being unsure of who Datium wished to support, both forces distrusted Datium due to a lack of information and declined their offer.

Sitting in his office at the UN, Major Mikhail Lonieda, Head Commandant of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the United Socialist States of Zintharia, received a telegram from an aide from the Tartarystan Imperialist leaders, asking for aide in their war. Instantly he recognized their chance.

The USSZ had been alarmed at the state of the common Worker in Tartarystan, and had been planning to aid Worker organizations in country, but this was their chance. If the Imperialists won, then the common Worker would be allowed to vote.

Jumping on the phone, he called the Spetsnaz Airborne HQ, and literally yelled at the Comrade on the phone."

"Send the entire 3rd Spetsnaz and the 6th Army Division to aid the Imperialists in Tartarystan."

Hopefully the Tartarystan Imperialists would allow the aid of the USSZ.

12:01 P.M, Tataria Magna, Capital of the Most Serene and Holy Tartary Empire of the Two Nations

Suksuha Heseri gripped his rifle. It was smooth and wooden. He had liked this rifle. A very old Mosin-Nagant, it was still reliable. It served him very well for a great deal of time. And he was good with it. Defending tradition, culture, and nobility. What a way to go out. He thought this while crouching under a cobblestone. A rumbling was in the ground. Yeah. They had come.

A flood of troops either wearing the Star and Crescent sign of the National Guard, or the Itchys insignia of the Imperial Guard flooded through the door. He fired. A wall of bullets flew through them. Three soldiers fell to the ground with a crumple. But one of them was alive. With a machine gun.

The ripping sound of the machine gun filled the air. Suksuha jumped to ground as he saw the two soldiers next to him fall as well, shredded with bullets. A grenade landed over the wall to hit the ground where Suksuha and six other men were crouched.

"IT'S A POTATO MASHER!!!"

All seven men ran away from the grenade as fast as they could, but in retrospect, that did not seem intelligent. Imperial assault rifles barked out steams of bullets, smashing into five of the men, killing them. For the first time, Heseri noticed what was going on. While several dead bodies did lie near the entrance, heaps of his comrades’ bodies lay around.

"Everyone! We can't last here, let’s retreat to better terrain! Private Heseri, get your ass up there first and cover us with your rifle."

Heseri dashed up the hill while they attempted to slow down the Royalists with what few grenades they had left. It actually work, two of them collapsed to the ground. Heseri looked down the scope of his rifle and spotted a young woman on a machine gun, gunning down fleeing Parliamentarians. He stopped breathing to orient his scope to line up with her. He fired. He didn't hear anything, but he could see her body fall back. He picked off two more soldiers with his sniping before he had to run back.

He ran back to see parachutes in the air and what appeared to be occupied houses in the way of their retreat.

"What the hell...?"

Firearms answered him back as bullets went flying back into his comrades. More dropped to the ground dead.

"What the hell...who the hell are those guys...?"

It appeared that foreign powers had come to aid the Royalists.

"Shit, I want to survive this war...."

His prayers were answered when a bullet shot took down the commanding officers of his platoon. He dropped his gun, raised his hand, and ran toward the Royalists. A voice from the Royalist side yelled out, urging them to surrender. His entire platoon dropped their weapons in succession and walked toward them with their hands up.

~~~
By 1:03 P.M, Royalist forces had seized control of government offices in Tataria. Parliamentarian forces were able to escape to the capital and are attempting to flee the country with Royalist forces in hot pursuit.
Möngke Sereri died from wounds sustained in the fighting and Abdulcemil was killed in action when he took an entire building on himself and a squad of troops from the National Guard.
The provisional government nominated Sibeoci Sereri as the new Holy Tartar Emperor.
Official Stance of the Dictorial Republic of Sumer
While it is not often we find ourselves supporting those who oppose military use within the government, the actions and intents of the Royalist factions in Tartarystan have gained the attention of our distaste. As such we are offering aid and weapons to the Parliamentarian, and if the bloodshed does not stop and a compromise come to fruition between the two factions without more bloodshed, we will be inclined to contribute forces as well.
The Parliamentarian patrol was desperately trying to escape the capital, but had gotten lost in the twists and turns in the middle of the night.
As they sat huddled together, trying to stay alert, and assault rifle burst sent bullets flying into three of the 20 men, killing them.
The rest began to flee down the alley, but were stopped by an excruciatingly high brick wall.
They fought for about 30 seconds before laying down their weapons and surrendering. But their enemy apparently had other ideas.
As they looked up and around themselves at the building rooftops, more SA troopers appeared, all wielding assault rifles. A group of five blocked the exit.
The leader of the Parliamentarians approached the SA leader. "We've surrendered, so what's next?"
The SA Sergeant threw his cigarette to the ground, then faced him. "Pick up your guns."
The Parliamentarians were confused, but eventually did as they were told.
The SA Sergeant grinned.
"Looks like you're still armed and resisting to me."
Gunfire erupted and the rest of the Parliamentarian troops were shot to pieces.
((OOC: willmake my post later, I have classes to get to now, but it would have been nice to know about this in the succession thread. Our nations are very similar in style, both steppe nations, mine once had an oppressed majority and a wealthy minority, no longer, both are largely agrarian nations with little industry, both have had troubles with elections, etc. So those in my country are looking to help their "brothers" as it were. Something along the lines of Turks preaching revolution, showing turks(the altaics) and the majority (orientals) that there are other, working options of life, that they can modernize, etc
