Drosk, Capital City of The Republic of Droskianishk


The Conference Building was set and was now fitting to recieve a delegate from a foreign nation. Droskianishk had been undergoing a flourish of international activity, welcoming ambassadorial staffs from the nation of Animarnia had been a huge activity, the Ambassador had been thoroughly surprised by her reception, or so Mr. Reddi hoped. Even now as he was just getting off the phone with the Secretary of Economic Affairs Ms. Kalayki as she was on her way to meet the delegate at the private government airport, the excitement was building up in him. He hoped that this meeting would be as productive as the Parliament and the current President had hoped.

Drosk City Airport, Drosk
Daniel Jackson stepped off the VIP C-600 Lear Jet chartered from the National Airforce; the landing had been smooth enough and the trip short thankfully; Long Flights were hideous for Daniel; he hated them almost as much as Rene did. Can only take so much cooped up in a Tin Can flying 30,000feet in the air. He wore a dark coloured suit and had short sandy brown hair and glasses; Alison Carter was the Ambassador to Drosk; true there nations hadn't always seen eye to eye. But hopefully they could both make the best of it; and as regional nuclear powers it was certainly best if the two got on.

Daniel's Personal Assistant Mary Radcliff was in tow carrying some files under her arms; when Daniel thought of Mary it was like describing a Liberian. Very business like; Red skirt white blouse; her hair tied up into a bun and thin rimmed glasses that framed eyes some say could peer into a mans soul. She had worked with Daniel for a number of years and was the closest friend he had. The Government had opted to not send Body guards for Daniel after all he was a low level economic fly boy; a subordinate to a cabinet minister - Thus expendable if the shit hit the fan; so his and Mary's safety was entrusted entirely to the Drosk security forces. He looked around the airport for anyone that was supposed to meet him..

Drosk City Airport

The Droskian Secretary of Economic Affairs, Ms. Kalayki's night black Mercedes pulled towards the Animarnian Jet.

"Nice," she said in a word, to no one particularly as the chaufer could not hear her. She was a slender lady who chose, against local custom to wear suit pants. She was determined to be on the same playing field.

Behind the Mercedes, two large black Escalades roared, both full of Droskian Government Security Forces (DGSF). From the other side of the airport two Deuce and a halfs tugged towards the jet, there would be no risking a foreign diplomat on Droskian soil. The Deuce and a Halfs were full of Droskian National Army (DNA) soldiers. Ms. Kalayki only hoped that the presence meant for the delegations security did not frighten the foreigners.

The Mercedes swerved to a stop infront of the foreigners. She laughed, as her chaufer was known to be a bit of a wild driver. The chaufer got out and walked around opening the door for the Secretary.

"Mr. Delegate," came her soft silky voice, "I hope we did not frighten you with the amount of protection we brought. Come please ride with me back to the conference building, your assistant may ride with our security forces." she finished as she took a step towards the delegate with an outstretched hand "I'm Secretary of Economic Affairs, Kalayki."

Daniel raised an eyebrow slightly amazed at how the airport went from quiet and subdued to a hornets nest of security; he was actually quite impressed and felt safer already even if he would have given anything that second for even a single ASAS or Secret Service bodyguard. Daniel gave a warm smile and took the woman's hand; "A Pleasure; Deputy Officer of the Economic Ministry for the Excessively armed republic; Daniel Jackson" he said; "Daniel is fine though"; he added.

Mary nodded curtly and walked off to ride in one of the other security cars; it was true she knew Daniel's business just as good as he did but she was an army brat and former Sargent for the Land defence forces so didn't mind roughing it with the guys. Daniel climbed into the Mercedes and settled down into a seat

"As for the security; doesn’t bother me at all minister; Animarnia trusts the Drosk security services in its competency; thus why we haven't sent any of our own protection" he said with a nod

"Right," said Kaylaki, "you can call me Susan. And with that bluff your still only a deputy?" she grinned a bit as she got into her side of the car. As the chauffer got back into the car and shut his door it was only a few more moments before the Mercedes rocketed forward. "I hope you don't mind busy streets and fast speeds" she continued trying to comfort the Animarnian.

She looked back to make sure they hadn't lost their security detail. The Escalades were keeping good time.

The Mercedes swerved out onto a busy street as horns all around honked, and the chauffer gave a universal salute to a few drivers.

"So, tell me deputy what do you think the possibility of our two nations working together are? And what agreements, if any, are you authorized to make?" She may have been pretty, but she was all business when on the job. It would only be a few minutes before they arrived at the building and could begin seriously discussing business but she wanted a feel for how beaurocratic this delegate was. And with all the swerving, honking, cussing, and speed there was no better time to see how strong his resolve was.

"Ministerial positions are not so readily available" he said with a grin; "But in all honestly I have complete confidence in your security" he said with a warm smile. His stomach feeling the twists and turns of the driving a sensation he was quite used to; after Misato and Shinji decided it was time he go 'racing'. Come to think of it the Chauffeur was reminding him more of Misato by the second…especially when he started giving the universal hand signals for 'leave me alone you idiot'

"Its not quite Misato's Blue Mustang but I don't mind; trust me…never get in a car with that woman and Shinji is worse". He said with a laugh; "As for the possibility of our nations working together I think there is a good chance of that" he nodded; "We're closed neighbours and there are definitely thinks we can co-operate on" Daniel said simply.

"I am authorised to Enter binding trade pacts and agreements of the sort. I can broach the subject on other issues like Military co-operation and discus things such as Joint task forces against terrorism and the like; and I can put forward my recommendations but only my boss can make them binding" he said honestly.

"Speaking frankly and honestly of what we want from each other is probably the best course of action; I prefer to be direct and not beat around the proverbial bush as it were" he answered and it was the truth; he had been authorised to agree or disagree to anything economic and could talk about other issues but not agree binding treatys though he hoped the meeting would be frank and fortright.

"Excellent," Susan responded, "I believe we'll get along splendidly then, " she finished as the Mercedes pulled into a large hotel parking lot. The chuaffer got out and opened the doors for the ministers and helped the foreign delegates with their bags.

"Mr. Amadi here will show you to your rooms, make yourselves comfortable as dinner will be in two hours." she said with a smile.

Daniel nodded as he and Mary entered the hotel room; "2 hours then" she said with a smile and wrapped her arms around his waist; almost seemingly a completely different person.

"Got to take a shower" Daniel said with a soft kiss;

"Time for a quickie?" she said with a grin.

"Sure" Daniel replied.

2 Hours Later
The two of them were dressed again; showered, and had eaten lunch in there rooms and were ready and waiting to be called by whoever they were supposed to meet who would take them down for dinner.

A large Droskian Government Security Force (DGSF) agent knocked on the couples door. "Deputy Minister, the meeting is prepared for you below, if you would please follow me." The agent waited for the pair and then began leading them down towards the board room, describing the hotels history. As they arrived at the board room, guarded by two DGSF agents the agent piped up in a serious voice again "The Secretary is waiting for you inside."


As the pair walked in the Secretary spoke "Good evening please be seated, and we may begin as dinner is served. I would like to begin by discussing with you your thoughts of a de-nuclarized border..."

OOC- She's the one that was in the vehicle, the Secretary of International Affairs is in the room (male) but his not an imposing figure, his kind of a whimp in person haha. She's dominate to him, although he is technically her superior.

"Well Madam secretary" Daniel begin; pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose; "I can give you my thoughts on such matters; such as they are however I wouldn't be authorised to sign any…non proliferation treaty as it were" Daniel replied.

"Though as far as I am aware and I admit I am only a deputy Economics Minster so my knowledge of such things is of course limited. However I am led to believe Animarnia doesn’t have any nuclear weapons on its borders with your nation and to the best of my knowledge intends for that to continue to be the case. That said however; as per the Alexia Doctrine Animarnia's nuclear deterrent is a central part of its defence strategy as I'm sure is yours" Daniel replied as he and Mary took a seat in one of the large comfortable leather chairs.

Daniel started to eat the food with Mary; a traditional Drosk dish he assumed; it was somewhat tasty though he wasn't fond of Mystery meat as it were

She nodded, and looked somewhat dissapointed. " Of course your papers have recorded somewhat differently, discussing new nuclear deterrents being moved toward the Drosk border. Of course these are not our discussions, but it would be appreciated if you would discuss these things with your superiors when you have a chance. But as you surely know with our two nations it is our populations which are our greatest asset and our greatest weakness. As we Asian nations rightly strive to gain more influence in the world we are continuing to flounder by competing unneccessarily. It was my hope that we could learn to cooperate, for instance cars made in Animarnia import Droskian engines, planes made in Droskianishk import Animarnian cushioning, computers made in Animarnia import Droskian hardrives or monitors, so forth and so on..." she stopped to let the delegate absorb what she was saying.

Daniel picked up on the tone; "The media is a free press; sometimes they get things correct; other times they are so far off they haven't just missed the boat but the entire ocean" Daniel said. "As far as I am aware Animarnia has no nuclear forces moving or being positioned on its borders with your nation; thus the issue of De-Nuclearisation is somewhat moot but I will raise the issue with the higher echelons on your behalf"; Daniel said honestly. Plus it was the truth; as far as he knew the reports in the media were completely unfounded - as far as he knew anyway.

"As for your proposal; you are absolutely correct; competing is important in a free market economy; but so too is co-operating and I can see us co-operating quite effectively in these areas" Daniel said with a smile; Relived that the convocation was now moving in the direction of his expertise. The Military was never his strong point.

"We can also offer Oil at $55 Dollars a Barrel much less than the going international rate of $80 a Barrel. We can export a large amount to you though a lot has be slated for domestic use and use by the Amazonians if our government joins the NPO but of course threes always some left for our good neighbours at the cheap price. We are also willing to lower tariffs and open waterways and ports to your nation as we did recently for the EC; under a reciprocal process." Daniel added

The Secretary nodded, "We would be quite interested in purchasing oil at such a wonderful price, if you could have your people send us the barrels a day that you are able to export, we would be more than happy to begin exporting coal and natural gas to Animarnia in order to lower its own dependency on far off petroleum supplies. The Parliament of Droskianishk is anxious to remove trade barriers with highly developed countries as this can only help to develope Droskianishk, however with Animarnia such things such as steel, coal, natural gas, etc may be subject to small tarriffs as Droskianishk continues to industrialize, however on objects in which Droskian parts are used these tarriffs would be dropped."

"I see you are enjoying your roasted goat, wait until desert, frozen monkey brains." she said eating hungrily.

"But seeing as our nations are the two largest nations in Asia, both population wise, and economically perhaps we should begin an Asian Economic Association?" she said looking over to the small Droskian man (Secretary of International Affairs) eating quietly.

Daniel nodded; "in a world run by resources this is of course understood" he said with a smile; "we operate mostly a free market economy and like you only things like Oil and Gas etc are subjected to tariffs when a free trade agreement is in place" he added.

"We would like more details on this Asian Economic Association you propose before we could commit to it; though at the moment we can also offer something you may be interested in and that is Nuclear Power Plants; specifically Light Water Reactors the same type we are building for Dweladelfia as your nations continues to advance industrially your power needs will too; Animarnia makes heavy use of both Nuclear and Hydroelectric power as well as solar in some areas" Daniel offered; he decided to avoid commenting on the food.

"No no" she replied with a smile, " Droskianishk is more than capable of building its own power plants, although we would like to borrow some Animarnian expertise to make sure current construction is safe and going as it should. We would actually like to help Animarnia in any future nuclear projects either weaponized or civilian, with nations such as Dwaedulfia. But this Asian Economic Association would be charged largely with helping Asia modernize and industrialize safely, helping to set safety regulations so that our fast modernizing won't come back and bite us. Of course Animarnia and Droskianishk would be the two head nations of this Association, and we would need to release a joint statement. We would of course love to sign a free trade agreement with the exceptions to the prementioned areas. We would also like to sign mutual agreements stating that Droskianishk will purchase oil from Animarnia exclusively and Animarnia will purchase steel from Droskianishk exclusively when either nation needs to import these items. We would also be interested in exporting coal. The Parliament of Droskianishk also believes it is important that our two nations proffitt from the exporting of jobs from western nations by continuing to keep products from our nations cheap."

Daniel nodded; "all valid points and we'd be happy to supply technical information to help keep your plants safe" he agreed; "and we can agree to this treaty however you raise an interesting point with the export of goods to the west. Offering cheap goods has of course led us to an economic boom however should we also not offer higher quality goods for a higher price also" he added

"As someone said offering a range of goods for different prices lets the customers choose if they want lesser quality cheap goods or higher quality more expensive goods" Daniel added.

Daniel nodded; "all valid points and we'd be happy to supply technical information to help keep your plants safe" he agreed; "and we can agree to this treaty however you raise an interesting point with the export of goods to the west. " Yes" she said nodding "as I stated early the association would be responsible for slowly raising safety standards. So do we have a deal?"

"Excellent," she said curtly, nodding at the pair, "feel free to take advantage of our tour guides and vehicles that have been made available to you, as well as our security. Feel free to leave the country whenever you wish until then you will have complete use of this hotel and the room made available to you, if you need anything ask a conceirge and if it is something they cannot help you with... you have our number. Our government will be in contact with yours on locale for the associatino and such." she said slowly gathering her things.
