In an effort to find a suitable consort for the second in line for the throne, Prince Karl III, the Imperial family has extended a call to other families of noble descent, by Imperial definition at least able to trace noble birth back ten generations, so as to be able to get all available noble ladies. As well, the Imperial family itself hopes that by arranging a marriage between Prince Karl III and a person of prominent descent in another nation they have expressed their own hopes that with such a marriage the Scandinvan Empire and the home nation of the future consort of the Prince.

To expand the Imperial family desires to create such a marriage due to the diminishing genetic pool that is available for our own Imperial line to marry into within our own nation due to an increasing rate of major noble lines of our Empire no longer qualifying due to an increasing rate of them marrying out of noble blood or marrying into noble lines that are no accordingly able to furnish a noble lady of worthy background that is able, by our laws of succession, to marry into the ruling Imperial family of our nation. Though we do have a large pool of the Imperial line itself to marry into it is our belief we should prevent inbreeding as much as possible.

We would be thankful for any appropriate candidate offered to us as the longer selection we have the easier it will be for us to find a Lady that would be agreeable to Prince Karl III to marry. We do this as desire for any marriage he has to be a happy one and in the Empire the Imperial family is not able to marry again until their former consort is dead due to the powerful influence that the Scandinvan Catholic Church has had on the marriage and succession laws of our nation. I believe that we are made for one another, I knew it from just reading about him. I felt like a normal girl reading about celebrities in a tabloid, wanting the most handsome one. As well, we wish to tell you that the Empire, though has long been ethnocentric and we have kept a tradition of having a pure line that spans back over four thousand years, yet even though many vestiges of the old ways have remained in our nation till current times the Imperial line itself just preserves the descent of the direct heirs as a sign that the old ways are remembered so such a marriage of one who is not in direct inheritance of the throne for the next generation needs not worry about such things upon them. Further, the Prince has sought to marry a person of non-Norse descent to try and harmonize the many radical parts of our society with the just as large modern parts of it to show that the Imperial line itself is in favor of harmonization and to that the Prince Karl III wishes to add and that he sees the Princess in good light and is currently in favor of marrying her.

So do not feel the need to act in such a manner and feel free to have what you want. As for the explanation of your desired dish I find it indeed wise to seek to have a balanced diet that allows you to enjoy the world in a more simple way. To honor your wise choice in foods I have decided to have the same dish as you, my Lady."

"Well, that's settled then," Yeonghwa said, smiling. It wasn't often she met people who imprinted a very positive aspect of their glowing character in the first meeting, but she felt very much that this was one man she could envision ruling a great land. If it wasn't genuine sincerity, it was genuine charisma - the truth probably lied somewhere between.

"I am very pleased to see that His Imperial Majesty has raised a fine man, well versed in culture and perspective. Not even the most sagacious Emperors west of Han have as much respect as you possess, and I am very honored to be here and to dine upon your table - as a daughter of Han and a future daughter of Scandinvans."

She reached for the glass of water that a server had brought to the table and drank it slowly.

The Emperor replied," When you spend a life time learning of the world, ruling a nation of many billions, preserving ancient ways, maintaing the power of the Empire, and in keeping the peace of our lands, we of the Imperial family of the Scandinvans must learn and to accept other peoples customs and ways to honor them. As well, I happy in meeting a person who posses such natural intellegience and wisdom that if far beyond one of such an age, further it pleases me that my second son has the interest of such a fine Lady."

Finishing that statement the servants brought forth a large array of foods, but with rice and a salad of mixed vegetables being presented as the main courses to Prine Karl and to the Lady Yeonghwa. To the Emperor though was presented some salted cod, as it was the traditional foods of the coastal regions of the northern Empire.

The dinner was very good, although Yeonghwa immediately realized that the spice that the servants had used was in fact dry pepper paste, instead of the more appropriate fluid paste. It wasn't bad - just a different perspective on an old and custom dish. Perhaps it was a reflection of the merger of many brilliant cultures into one dish, and that its palette was unique and - like the old ways - beautiful.

But Yeonghwa also found herself amused to see the Emperor's son - Prince Karl. He was young, dashing, and possessed such a great charismatic flavor that made it difficult to hate him for anything, even for something stupid. He had a smile that was characteristic of the common folk, but his gait and posture demonstrated the bravura and elegance of royal upbringing. And a strange question came to the Princess as they ate.

I came to bring our two countries together, but I am more and more convinced that I have personally come to accept Karl as my choice. To hear you say that I am suitable for your son is such a great honor to me, and I only hope that Prince Karl shares as much feeling for me."
