Massive Structure Completed in The Desert of The Phoenix Milita

The Phoenix Milita

Like a desert mirage, a shining pyramid now stands like an oasis in the desert plateau of west-central TPM.

What is it?
Why did we build it?
How big is it?
(must be pretty big since it can be seen from SPACE!!!!)

Well it is a giant solar power plant.

Not very efficient. The solar plant might be an outer shell to something like this.

Shimizu Megapyramid.

OOC: Nice pyramid. Gotta love that Sketch-Up, eh?

1. Not for sale.
2. It is very efficient due to the fact that the structure supporting the solar panels is nearly hollow(allowing for whatever we want to be put inside of it), has a large surface area and is very low maintenance. It was also cheaper to construct this way.
3. Don't use sketch up, never have.
4. More detailed posts coming in about a month.

Until hail, sandstorms, seismic activity, or hostile fire hits it. -.-

1. Why would there be hail in a desert?

2. The small amounts of dust on top of a rocky mountain plateau are taken care of by the "low maintenance" aspect. A built in system which evolved through window washing of high rise buildings cleans the airtight surface of the panels automatically.

3. Why would an attacker waste time and and resources penetrating all the way into the center of a massive country, indeed and entire continent, just to damage an unimportant though physically appealing solar power plant, when nuclear power generation already provides more than enough to compensate for its loss?

A second structure can now be seen from orbit in the polar regions of The Phoenix Milita. As you can see from this close up ground photo, it is nearly identical to the first. Its location close to the North Pole will provide an interesting challenge to its operators. The plant's storing and generation cycle will last 24 hours a day for 6 months and then must be paused each winter until the sun returns.

If Pheonix Militia built it.... the things tuff! Nice work.

A harmless question was presented out of curiosity by an onlooker: "Do you have enough development in the North Pole to warrant and necessitate building such a power facility?"

A junior public relations official fields the question: " A number of domed cities with populations of 500,000+ dot the northern coast of Alaska, the Yukon and the other areas of TPM which border the arctic sea. The current small scale solar power and geothermal heating operations existing in and around these cities can not keep up with the power demands inherent in the art of living in a massive climate controlled dome. An influx of settlers in the past few years has led to forced rationing of electric power and the populations keep growing exponentially. Nuclear power was to pick up the slack, but the maintenance and power loss that goes along with stringing 2,000 miles of power lines across mountains and wide open tundra means that the solar pyramids are the only reasonable and cost-effective option. They will also be better in the long run than nuclear power, since they create no waste fuel."

OOC: I am looking for someone to use their spy satellites to discover the hidden purpose behind these pyramids. Please post here if interested.

A young Ursavian reporter (who had been busily talking on a cellphone during most parts of the presentation) rose up to ask a question.

"Excuse me, but is it true that there is possible energy leakage that could lead to damage of your polar region's environment?" The reporter asked, leaving people unaware as to where he recieved such a rumor in such a short time.

OOC: Yeah, it'd be fine by me if he did.
The Phoenix Milita

Energy leakage? Preposterous! There is very little impact from this on the environment at all. And there aren't any carbon emissions either.
