The Project (FT, Invite only)

Waterhelper

Waterhelper, a small backwater nation that was not considered a threat worth considering by many FT nations, was now going to undertake a large project that would possibly grant it a greater status in the FT galaxy.

The system was fairly large. However it only contained two planets and a large mineral rich asteroid field. The only seemingly possible application for this field was a mining base. However, seeing as it was waterhelper territory the government had other plans.
Recently the government has started to take action to lessen its gap between other nations of similar size. The most abitious part of this project was a large stellar computation device. This device was planned to be used by the waterhelper government to create new designs and strategies.
Around a year after the initiation of the black project a large fleet of resource carrying ships emerged in the system. These ships were automated. They were almost entirely solid blocks of material with a nav computer and hyperdrive system.
These ships would take orbit around the star at a distance slightly less than 1 AU. Slowly these ships began to dissolve and separate and nanobots ate and shaped them. Soon each of these ships became a towing shuttle and numerous satellites. The satellites formed a orbiting power network that would self expand with the help of the automated shuttles and nanobots. However, there was till much work to be done until the network covered the entire star and provided maximum operating potential.
The shuttles quickly got to work bringing in the mineral rich asteroids that surrouned the gas giants and outer system. These objects were quickly shaped ad more satellites constructed.
However even with all this it would take many years to construct the facility and the waterhelper government as planned similar shipments of ships for the next 300 years unless someone would help them.
