Dr. Jules Hodz stood in the control tower of City of Kent International Airport. As a pilot, he itched to get into one of the escort fighters, but he nevertheless stayed where he was. He watched the radar, hoping that the squawk code for one of the visiting parties would soon show up. The escort fighters would fly the plane in, and he would greet all of the visitors collectively.

OOC: No problem.

IC: Down on the tarmac, on an marked helipad, a single pinpoint of utter darkness became slightly visible, about a meter and a half off the ground. The unlight grew vertically, equally in both directions, until it was a three meter, perfect line resting just above the ground. The line then gained width, becoming a meter wide, but it continued to have no depth. Now that it was wide enough to emit light, it did so, the frozen Commonwealth becoming visible on the side facing the control tower. It was invisible from the other side, as that side didn't exist. From the visible side, IX-8492 and Kyle.935 of the Commonwealth stepped through, a seven foot hologram and a tiny pup, both wearing the perfectly-black suit typical of the Government. Kyle was considerably taller than he'd been when he'd served aboard the Death Star as DEFCON liaison. It had been several months, after all, and Guardians mature quickly. He was nearing his fifth birthday, after all. Another year and he'd be just as tall as IX and Wolfgang. The pair stepped onto the tarmac of Akimonad, and the doorway collapsed just as fast as it'd opened, taking a mere fraction of a second. The two stood there, taking in their surroundings. Sighting Doctor Hodz with their genetically and electronically enhanced vision, they turned towards the tower, coming to attention and saluting crisply, the standard greeting from Government members to everyone else, a symbol of their servitude towards all society.

From behind, a cloud another plane started its descent on to the tarmac. This plane was a fairly large passenger jet that had been painted Azure, Yellow, and White and a presidential seal. Soon the plane was on the ground, completely stopped.

A tall disembark step lined up with the door of the plane and then the hatch opened. Seret service men were already watching the plane. At the threshold of the door a tall figure walked out. He was probably in his mid-fifties, but his beard and part of his hair had already already turned white.

"no I don't think i will ever like plane rides, Mr. York" he said addressing the figure behind him.

"Mr. President forgive me, but you still can't be afraid of planes after all the traveling you've done." said Mr. York, another tall man wearing dark blue suit and tie.

"Well somethings change, and somethings don't ." finished President Foxswift (http://www.iisd.ca/desert/cop6/pix/0901/nuj.jpg) as he walked down on to the tarmac where a man in a non discript suit was waiting for them.

The man who had previously directed the Guardians walked up to the two men.

"Please, this way." he said, directing them towards the elevator of the control tower.

After the men from Cookesland and the Guardians were in the elevator, the elevator operator flipped the control lever to "up". The elevator slowly rose towards the top of the tower. Once at the top, the operator opened the door, revealing another man in a plain suit. "Please, follow me." he said, walking slowly up some stairs, before unlocking a door and stepping through. "Dr. Hodz is waiting there." he said, pointing to a ramp that led to a large bank of terminals and communications devices.

Dr. Hodz kept his attention on the radar, looking for one last blip. Another man, this one looking less intimidating, motioned to a coffee maker and a table of assorted sweets. Past that table was a small table with other assorted drinks. "Please, help yourself. If you require something we don't have out, we can procure it for you."

IX passively looked about, being holographically disinterested in the food. Kyle walked past it, sniffing each dish and drink and analyzing it with his nanosystem, interested but not really hungry. Eventually he made his way to Hodz's side, watching the radar screen, comparing the information to the visualization that he was receiving from GuardSat, scanning the planet and looking for the craft that they were apparently waiting on.

President Foxswift thanked the man and walked over to get a cup of coffee.

Richard on the other hand walked over to where IX and Dr. Hodz were standing. He looked at the screen the two were looking at. "Is this a Mr. Radar?" he said chuckling, and then scanned the screen for the plane.

Kyle eventually lost interest in the radar display, deciding that he preferred his multi-dimensional visualization with almost infinite resolution for monitoring the skies. He worked his way over towards the President-man, coming to attention and saluting him. "Kyle dot nine three five, Delta of Foreign Affairs of the Great Commonwealth, at your service," he said, then dropped the salute and attention stance, extending a clawed, furry hand towards the man.

"Mr President, we will begin our decent soon."

"Thanks Sandy." Barttlet said as he closed his laptop. He turned to address his director of communications. "We'll discuss the speech after the visit."

"Yes sir, thank you Mr President."

Barttlet leaned back in his seat and watched as the earth slowly started to come in to focus as if rising to meet him.

After the plane landed The President he made his way down the stairway on to the tarmac.

A suited man met President Barttlet. "Please, this way." he motioned towards the elevator. Once Barttlet was in the elevator, the operator closed the door and the elevator began its ascent. The suited man called all the other men standing around in security positions, who boarded another elevator. Both elevators reached the top and everyone stepped out, making their way to the observation deck where the other guests were.

Dr. Hodz grabbed some chocolate milk. "Ah, good. We're all here. Now, for those of you that don't know, I'm Dr. Jules Hodz, the second-in-command. We figured this would be a good place to start the visit, as you can see the skyline (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/30/Cincinnati_oh_skyline.jpg) quite well. I suppose we're also trying to show off our air transport as well, but whatever. If we're all ready, we can go downstairs and board the monorail."

"Lead the way," he said.

Everyone piled into the elevator, which descended quickly. They disembarked, and Dr. Hodz noted that they were underground. In front of them was a monorail terminal.

"It's above ground everywhere but the Airport." Hodz noted. "Keeps things less cluttered." They walked past many citizens, who, upon seeing Dr. Hodz, who was a rare sight, immediately proceeded to allow their jaws to fall towards the ground. The group eventually got to a door labelled "Out of Order. No Admittance! Not even authorised personnel. Go away." and stepped through. They walked down a flight of stairs and arrived at a monorail car that looked a little more clean that the previous one. The windows were tinted. The doors opened, and everyone stepped in. Instead of typical plastic seats, the interior of the monorail car was set up much like a large limousine, with large, comfy single-person bucket seats arranged around the car. There was a large television set on one side of the car, and Dr. Hodz pressed a button on his seat that caused the TV to power on.

"It's a little bit of a journey, so we might as well watch. As I understand, we've just received programming from Cookesland." Hodz said, flipping around. Hodz pressed another button and a section of the floor rose to reveal a minifridge. "Drinks are on me. And if you're bored with everything else, there's a laptop computer underneath your seat." Hodz said, pulling a MacBook out from underneath his seat.

Gently the car edged forward, eventually going up an incline and emerging in the outskirts of the city.

Kyle an IX continued to look about, observing everything with polite and honest interest, despite their multitasking on their cybersystems. They idly began encrypting at each other, writing a pointless message and making up an encryption to hide it, then shooting it off to the other, who would attempt to decrypt it and would give the original message back to the sender. All this carried on while they sat there, watching the screen and looking out the window. They were both a bit quiet today, trying to be as professional as possible on their first visit outside the Commonwealth and the UN.

Richard took in the scenery for a little while longer and looked to the TV, which was showing highlights of World Cup 36. "Mr. President, it seems that we've lot 3-1 against Zwanzug." and then looked back at the highlights "Damn." he thought to himself and then walked over to Dr. Hodz,

"So, where are we headed to next?" he asked curiously

As the car moved swiftly at around 100 mph, the scenery whipped by quickly, though there was not very much of it that you could see past the towering buildings.

"We'll be headed next to the University of the City of Kent, my alma mater and former place of employment."

The car began gently slowing down, and as the car approached 5 mph, the television automatically switched off. The doors opened, and the group proceeded to another doorway and walked up another flight of stairs, emerging in a large terminus filled with young college students.

"Well, here we are. This is the Monorail Terminus, my building was Huster Hall, over there." Hodz said, pointing. Hodz began walking towards the Hall.

The group walked into Huster Hall and proceeded down the main hallway, avoiding college students rushing to class. Dr. Hodz turned down a hall, where a sign hanging read "PolSci". He turned left towards a door that read "Office of Dr. Julius L. Hodz, Former Professor of PolSci, UN Ambassador". Hodz pulled out a key and inserted it, unlocking the door. A little fingerprint scanner slid out from above the door handle, its presence invisible before. Hodz laid his thumb on it and the door clicked and opened. They walked into Hodz's office, which, unlike the appearance of the old wooden door, was furnished in large, shiny metal things. Dr. Hodz walked over to his desk and grabbed the large MacBook Pro that was busy manipulating lines on its screen. He then grabbed several small plastic badges reading "VISITOR - Diplomatic" and handed them to everyone. "You're going to need this if you want to continue," Hodz said, "They contain an RFID chip. It will let you in certain places and refuse you entry to others."

Barttlet put on the badge, he looked around the office, remembering some of the tales that Nigel, Donna, and Javar told of Hodz, remarking in his head that this office fits the persona very very well.

"Donna Mosse says hello, as does Javar Dequar." Barttlet said to Hodz.

"Thank you," IX said in his pleasant double-voice, his 'veins' glowing brightly through his translucent fur in his equivalent of gratitude and general happiness. His avatar mock-pinned the badge to itself, but really just tractored it so that it hovered before him. He captured and analyzed the RFID embedded in it for fun. Kyle took his badge. He saluted the doctor, and pinned it to himself, also reading the signal. Kyle had never seen a fingerprint scanner, Guardians having furred fingers. "Why did you do that?" he asked for the sake of asking, pointing at the door. Though his nanoforce had searched the device and figured out how it worked, he couldn't quite comprehend why it would do that.

"Let's move on, shall we?"

The group exited the building and walked over to a curb. Dr. Hodz whistled loudly, and a black Hummer limousine pulled up to the curb. The chauffeur got out of the limo and opened the rear door.

"Please, get in." he said politely.

Dr. Hodz and everyone else entered the limo. Dr. Hodz turned on the TV in the limo, flipping around the channels for a few minutes before turning it off. Daytime television is boring.

The limo rolled around a corner, and, seemingly out of nowhere, a large police escort moved into place around the limo. Four large black SUVs took up station around the limo, and in front and behind them were police interceptors and motorcycles.

"Merely a precaution." Hodz noted. "We've received some threats recently, and though we doubt they'd be acted upon, we'd rather be safe than sorry."

Dr. Hodz opened the minifridge and pulled out a Derivative Soda Valley Frost and began sipping it.

"Anyone need a drink yet?"
[NS]The Wolf Guardians
31-07-2007, 16:50
IX merely blinked at the mention of the threats, as well as the drinks. Holography has its benefits. The tiny stud in his ear that was his holoemitter shimmered slightly, the device having been equipped with an experimental shield before this trip. Kyle, on the other hand, felt for his SDH, superstitiously making sure it was still there. He also felt for his shield system, pleased to find it there, as well. He was grateful CWG-RAD had let him take it. "Do you have chocolate milk?" he asked as he accessed the GuardSats and targeted their group for 'escort,' meaning the system would watch them very carefully, ready to blast attackers from orbit at a thought from Kyle or IX. For some reason he felt paranoid today.

The limo slowed to a stop at a gate. The guards stared at the limo, while the chauffeur pulled out a credit card-sized device and held it up to a small box on the gatehouse. The box beeped and the gate opened slowly.

The limo was now in the parking area, but that was not the destination. The limo slid forward to another gate, and Hodz rolled down the window nearest him, copying the gesture of the chauffeur with his own device.

This time the box beeped twice, and slid a pencil-thick beam into the limo. The tip of the device glowed, and a blue grid was projected throughout the cabin. The device made an affirmative noise and slid back.

The gate opened and the limo moved forward, then turned right before parking on the side of a street next to a massive building (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/43/Ifc2.jpg/200px-Ifc2.jpg). Dr. Hodz stepped out of the limo, much to the chagrin of the chauffeur. "This is our stop." he indicated of the entrance of the building. The group walked through the doors, which beeped whenever one of them went through. "Alright," Hodz said, turning around and facing the group. "This is the main government building, known as One Government Plaza." He motioned to the long reception desk, and on the wall behind was a large sign bearing the name of the building and the flag. "The Parliament House is across the street."

Kyle's HUD made the note of the scanning device, which he filed away with idle interest. "They're as creative with names as we are!"

"Alright." Hodz said, walking to an elevator. They got in, and the elevator moved swiftly up towards the top of the building, two hundred stories up. They emerged into a room, not lit except for the large displays in the walls that threw blue light around the room. In the center of the room, a group of official-looking people were crowded around a computer the size of a coffee table. Dr. Hodz walked up to one of them, and he turned around and walked with Dr. Hodz back towards the group.

"I'm Commodore Daniel Heusen." He said. "I pretty much run this joint."

He motioned to the room and displays, which showed various maps and views and other such things.

"This is our central command room. We run a fairly advanced system here, I like to think."
