The premise is fairly simple. A single, uncharted sector has recently been scouted out by Kingdom of the Sovereign forces. However, this is no ordinary sector. Despite the large numbers of uninhabited stars, this sector is inhabited entirely by humans. Societies having just reached their own industrial revolutions uniformly, ripe to be uplifted. or conquered.
Signing Up:
Each nation may bring a total of 100 ships worth of population with them to the Sector, (Using the 1 capital ship per million population standard), and each nation may claim a single world to begin with. Each world has approximately 1 billion people to be conquered, and robust armies, albeit robust industrial-age armies, are on each. No unified government exists in each world, thus conquest cannot be achieved by simply threatening obliteration from above. Good old-fashioned groundwork is required.
To claim a planet, you must RP its conquest in this thread (a decent-length RP detailing your arrival in the Sector, and your invasion of the planet), and post an OOC request for a specific planet on the map (either by marking it or describing its location).
Keep in mind that the Sector will probably carry over wars from the rest of NS (GFFA and LoFW folks might wish to uplift worlds in the Sector to prevent GE domination of such, and GE people may wish to bring the combat over into the Sector.
However. The rules are thusly for combat within the Sector.
(1) Orbital bombardment is for pansies. As such, no orbital bombardment, biological warfare wiping out all life on the planet, or anything else that will severely compromise the life of the humans on the planets will be permitted. Precision-striking from space to help your troops on the ground is ok, wiping out an entire planet because you can't conquer it isn't.
(2) You may bring 100 ships in initially, and you may add 10 ships to your total per RL day, multiplied by the amount of systems you own in the Sector.
(3) If anyone godmods, wanks, or otherwise breaks the rules of roleplaying etiquette, their Sector property will be subject to liquidation without notice. That is, they'll be reverted to neutral, and that person will be booted out of the Sector.
(4) The conquest of neutral systems shall be limited to one each day per player (original claims, however, do not count). However, a maximum of three neutral systems may be invaded each day. Thus, the conquest of the Sector, assuming maximum activity, will take at least 10 days. That means everyone has a chance to claim a planet. If we get more than 6 players, however, this limit will be lifted (as we'll have more than enough people then.). This is just to make sure that there's a decent timeframe in which everyone may make their claims.
(5) The conquest of neutral planets can be made in this thread. The conquest of player-owned planets, or warring with other players should be done in new threads.
That's really about it! Just claim a planet, and jump in, and start a'warrin.

Unclaimed World: PN-101-17
Classification: Heretic World. Occupied by humans who do not worship the Sovereign.
Threat Rating: 1.5. Nothing overly serious, although the size of population may ensure that we meet with some resistance, even though the unbelievers wield pre-nuclear weapons.
Suggested Course of Action: Subdue world to the will of the Sovereign using steel and flame.
Servant-Admiral Sashiar closed the file. Simplistic, at the best. But his scans revealed more. Two major continents, and an antarctic continent. The third was irrelevent - only some two million inhabitants. It would make a fine capital for the world. The first continent, which he mentally referred to as C-1, had two-thirds of the population, and the largest, most successful empire on the planet. The second contained several warring kingdoms, and would be far easier to subdue.
Obviously, the course of action to take was to strike at the major empire, cripple it, and secure the main continent before the other kingdoms had a chance to unify into some cohesive fighting force. With a population of over one billion - and him with only twenty thousand fighting men, it was likely he would be outnumbered a hundred to one if he was engaged on the field. And if the enemy managed to salvage some of his equipment, it was possible that they could become a danger to his conquest.
He tapped at the screen in front of him, and the view expanded, showing a massive city. "Nerghal, they call it..", he mused. "It is best that the first strike should be there."
He had fallen out of grace in recent times. So he was dispatched to this backwater province, to claim it in the name of the Sovereign. Provided he was left alone, it would be an easy task.
He touched the edge of the screen, and ran his fingers across a touchpad, drawing an elaborate symbol on it.
"Commander Luken, greetings in the name of the Sovereign. May he illumine us with his light, and shelter us under his hand."
"Greetings, Servant-Admiral. May the Sovereign protect and illumine us all."
Sashiar frowned at the curt greeting. "Commander.. are you giving the Sovereign his due?"
"Sir, I'm just.. excited about the present mission. I have a hard time undertaking contemplation before a strike."
"I see. Once the world is secured, you will perform a penance to reinstill you with a sense of duty and devotion to the Sovereign. Excitement is no reason to defy His will."
Luken bowed his head. "Of course, sir. Now, may I be briefed?"
"Certainly, Commander. You are to take ten thousand men, and strike at Nerghal, the greatest city on the main continent. From there, you will aim to capture their government, and any military leaders available. Another ten thousand men will be divided into four units, three capturing the nearest three urban centres near Nergal. The fourth will be dispatched by drop-pod to the gathered army of the Nergalians, as we are to call them, where they will use their superior firepower to destroy the half-million troops on the border with the other nation. From there, we will send another thousand engineers to the southern continent to construct a governor's capital, and a set of factories. These will serve in equipping auxiliaries, whom we will train to serve in future invasions, as well as keeping law and order on Nerghal."
"This sounds more like.. empire-building, Admiral."
"Of course it is, Luken. We are not fighting an enemy with anything worth plundering or taking. We are here to subjugate them, and to bring them to the Sovereign's worship. Now, you will be departing in an hour. I have already given the order to ready the men, so.. I suggest you prepare yourself."
Sashiar switched the screen off, and ran his fingers along the touchpad once more. Everything was well in order.
An hour later, screaming drop-pods descended from the skies, raining down upon the world like hailstones made out of fire, containing naught but pain. They ripped through the ground where they left, each levelling houses where they stood. Perhaps forty thousand were killed by the descent of the pods in Nerghal.
Men quivered in their homes, that night, for the greatest enemy, the greatest oppressor of mankind had come to enslave them. Mankind.

Aboard FSS Light, enroute to sector PN-101
"Great..."Was all captain Rush had to say.
"Yes,sir. HIGHCOM gave specific orders. We are to take this planet in the name of the evil emp-i mean federation." Leutcom Rolly then togled a switch on the holopad."The planet is called n'vw'rall'a. Basicaly a waterball with a giant continent on the middle, similar to the continent Pangea(sp) in ancient earth." He toggled once again. "Military forces are similar to the tecnology used in The Napoleon times, except,no navy to speak of. Property on the shoreline is very important here, all the factions on this world have their leadership there."
"Very well" Rush Enthused. "Weuse those new assault boat on we got. Our priority is to shell and destroy the leadership of each faction, then push inland, using air superiorty. Tell the 767th to move out."
Son, the fleet, which consisted of 5 cruisers and 10 destroyers and frigates, as well as the single Leviathan which served as the flagship, were in orbit. They were bound by the interstaller geneva pact to not bombard any pre-FTL planets. Thus, they disgorged thousands of little transports into the atmosphere. Some carrying assault ships, some the occupying force and some just more guns. Within weeks, most of the biggest factions had fallen, and the marines were hard at work eliminating the others. The flag had been planted on Planet Shadow, The first of many...
OOC: Nice RP you got here. Here's my claim

((Yea.... I dont RP all that well....))
Waterhelper, A fairly new FT race has already lost its homewrold and the majority of its holdings in the galaxy. Now they seeked expansion and were rapidly sending out ships and crafts to conquer other planets. Recently a probe had revealed that a large group of lightly defended planets was found an expedition was immediately mounted.
Space above planet designated GMP-14456-C (planet furthest south on the east side.... sorry can't mark it right now
100 ships (90 colonist/ transport 6 support 4 capital) dropped out of hyperspace in the previously empty space that surrounded the planet. Soon they orbited the planet as they scanned.
On the holographic command room in the center of the ship the admiral paced around a rotating globe of the planet below him. It showed a large war of primitive armies with projectile weapons, navies with ships, and a fairly developed industry.
According to collected reports there were three factions on the globe right now, a imperialist, democratic, and communist. These factions each controlled 1/3 of the world and have established a frontal war where advances are slow and cannon fire would decimate charges for land. The admiral marked six spots on the globe's 4 continents to land. 5 were in the factions and the fifth in a neutral territory.
"Land at these spots" he said.
[Ships]
"Orbital drop commencing" Soon hundreds of orbital drop pods streaked down in brilliant and yet soundless arcs to the fate that awaited them below.
[Capital City of Communist Faction]
over three hundred drop pods littered the area of the communist capital city. This city was the most lightly defended capital city and would hopefully remove one faction for the time being. The drop pods opened to reveal anti-grav tanks and robots that lined up in the streets and fired on any people that remained in the area. Soon they marched and marched and drove. A speaker in the front of the columns that marched to the capitol building said "do not come out and you will not be killed, come out and you will be ruthlessly cut down."
The droids marched peacefully until the capitol where numerous soldiers with metal shields blocked their path. They fired their low velocity muskets at the mass of soldiers that kept on comming. Occasionally a musket ball would hit a vital part and destroy a droid, and yet they kept comming. Surrounded the soldiers ran into the building to try and defend it to the last man. The government officials were still inside and they swore to defend them. Several droids jumped through the windows while the rest would go through the door. Inside was a slaughter as the directed energy weapons of the droids would painfully kill the defending soldiers. It was the end of the comiterm as the droids entered the cabnet room where the government were against one wall with two guards protecting them. These two guards soon had no head as the people inside screamed. Soon a machnical voice said "surrender your country or more of your people will be ruthlessly killed my our armies." with this threat the government officials surrendered their country. Similar event occurred in the Imperial Faction. However, the imperialist faction did not surrender and reinforcements eventually defeated all the soldiers in the city. However, they too would soon fall when the mop up operations were complete in the other areas of the world and additional colonists and soldiers descended.
The Tandu
21-07-2007, 20:41
There was a terrible, silent noise above the world of Buyan. Reality twisted in upon itself, and a thousand realities briefly existed in a very limited amount of space, until the various universal laws set to prevent this remembered to stop looking at the pretty colors and get back to work, leaving a small Tandu fleet, a few dozen ships or so, hovering above Buyan.
It didnt rain fire.
No horribly beweaponed drop pods crashed into important buildings.
No terrible, ominous messages were called down upon the people from the sky.
Instead, three dropships landed in the main square of the capitol of Kitzeh, one of the "Great Powers" of Buyan, noted for its general willingness to accept new things, and its military prowess. And control of trade.
The ships landed, square in the middle of the Tsesarevich Alexi Square, named for the deceased son of a long-dead Tsar, and fronting the massive Ivan Kremlin, the governmental heart of Kitzeh.
This, naturally, caused some curiosity amoung the local populace, although they DID have primitive flying machines, theirs certainly werent capable of anything like this, nor did they have such smooth lines. And these things lacked propellers, they seemed to simply move on their own, noiselessly save for the air moving over them.
To cut a long and boring scene short, the shuttle doors opened, and the Tandu emerged, escorted by a young boy, perhaps fourteen or fifteen. Like the others of his kind, he had light blonde hair, from which a pair of stubby horns emerged, looking very much like a pair of cat ears. Behind him a half dozen or so Tandu stood, impassive as ever, cradling firearms.
It took only a minute for the Semyonovsky Guard, the personal bodyguard unit of the Tsar, to form a virtual human curtain between the invaders and the palace, rifles held at the ready and more than reprared to fire a volley into the invaders.
History hung in the balance at this point. A dozen Tandu and an adolescent stood against the elite of the Kitzeh Army. The units commading officer, something like a colonel, held a hand up. Perhaps the only thing preventing him from annihilating these invaders was the presence of the child, and of course, the crowds now gathering to see these strange things which had fallen from the sky.
The boy stepped forward, "Ah...Hello." He gave a slight wave, "I am James 1-15, my Masters wish very much to speak with your leader. Please be assured, they mean no harm...t-they say there are just as afraid of you at this point as you are of them...so, i-if everybody could just put their weapons down we can all get along, right?"
That did it. Above all else, honour was vital to a nations survival on Buyan. If word got around that they had shot ENVOYS, virtually begging not to be shot, then things might go hard for Kitzeh in the future. The colonel signaled the soldiers to return to attention, although they did not break their defensive formation before the palace steps. The colonel stepped forward, glaring at the insects before turning a slightly forced smile to the boy.
"And your...masters, have an appointment? Or is it customary in your nation to land before the Imperial Capitol of a soveriegn nation and expect to be admitted immidiatly?"
The boy shrank slightly, fidgeting a bit before a brief glance at the Tandu behind him seemed to reinforce his confidence slightly, "My masters say the matter is urgent. Your people, and your planet, are in danger of conquest by outsider nations, they have ravaged many planets in this sector before, and are coming here. My masters of the Tandu Clan wish to aid you, and in return for an alliance, will assist you in taking control of this planet."
This, naturally, upset a few people. Coming from a human, the story would have been laughed off, but with giant bugs sitting square in the center of the capital of their empire, it seemed somewhat more believable.
It took a day, but the Tandu got their audience and, with the assistance of James, swayed the Tsar of Kitzeh to their ideals, explaining the concept of 'uplift' and swearing solemn oathes in both the Tandu and Kitzeh traditions that Kitzeh would, after serving its debt to the Tandu, be a powerful nation amoung the stars, wielding powers they could not dream of as yet.
The deal was signed, the pact made, and Kitzeh set in motion events which would have future historians scribbling massive documents several volumes in length.
The Conquest of Buyan went smoothly. Equipped with Tandu weaponry, the armies of Kitzeh quite easily smashed their opposition. Automatic rifles, probability weapons, armored vehicles, fighters and bombers, these made shrot work of any force which dared to oppose Kitzeh. Many nations simply surrendered at the declaration of war after the first few conquests, and within a matter of a few months Kitzen controlled two major continients and the better part of two thirds of the planets population, the only ones safe from the wave of expansion were in the midst of the vast steppes in the center of the planets third continient, a dry and arid land inhabited mostly by tribal peoples, virtually impossible to conqour and best left alone.
Naturally, the Tandu were all the more pleased with this, a local population they could abduct at will for use in their own experimentations and improvements to the Human Race. After all, the more 'civilized' locals activly encouraged them to drag off raiders and bandits, and whatever awful fate awaited them, the man who had lost his daughter or the wife who had lost her husband more often that not wholeheartedly approved.
There was dissent, of course, some felt that the Tsar had sold them into slavery, giving away their nation for the promise of toys and money. They found little favour though, amoung the majority. The Tandu had brought agricultural technology that had virtually extinguished the concept of 'famine' and medical technology which meant that a scratch was no longer potentially deadly. They had radios with a range of more than a mile and aircraft that could cross continients in seconds. Life on Buyan was better, far better, for the vast majority of the people, who no longer spent most of their short lives farming or working in factories. It was no Utopia of course, work was still needed and nobody was perfectly happy, but it was better.

[Imperial sector]
The Imperial nations threathened by this new threat agreed by telegraph to unite their forces against the common foe. However, even this would not be able to stem the tide of the alien forces
[Battle outside of a Imperial command city]
The command city was heavily defended in wrap around multi-layer fortresses. There were around four thousand men inside the fortresses and city. They outnumbered the droids by a ratio of 5:1. However this weakness was made up for with coordinated air strikes and tanks. The enemy artillery previously proved completely useless against these lumbering, floating behemoths.
These tanks formed the first line and used chain railguns to clear the path in front of them. The tanks hovered over the primitive trench system and bombarded the batteries subsequently exploding them. By this time the droids had gotten in the trenches and killed whoever remained alive. Soon there was a large gap in the enemy fortress and the small force proceeded to the city. Seeing this the leaders of the enemy empire emerged from the city and offered an unconditional surrender.
The first planet had been conquered.
Shipyards were already being constructed in orbit with material brought in from the system's asteroid belt.
The planet was also being developed with primitive factories being replaced with more ecologically friendly and more effective automated factories. All this was done by nanobots as these tiny machines quickly transformed the world into a traditional waterhelper planet.
