A Temporal Problem (Open FT, PMT, MT, PT)

The TRD (Temporal Research Department) had been working and adjusting the technology for years doing tests in a contained space. A space contained outside of the STC. New technologies were being created in order to further the understanding of the universe. The eternal quest for knowledge was theirs. They had finally made a great leap in time travel. A way for someone to interact in time but not change it. It was centuries in the making and finally it was about to culminate in one experiment.

Kane that was his only name. He had been chosen from a large group of psykers for his ability and control over his gifts. He had been taken to the lab and undergone multiple surgeries to implant technologies into his body and make him the first Chrononaut. Operation Chronos had been working on this forever and now was the culmination of it. This experiment was beginning and Arkor Deshma was there personally.

He walked up to Kane and spoke, "Kane you are about to undergo the most dangerous experiment in the history of the Dratherian Empire. If you succeed you will be a hero." Kane looked at him and smiled, "I only wish to do something some people can only dream of." Kane stood 6'0 feet tall and he had cobalt blue eyes, cropped brown hair, and a tan muscular form sculpted from years of rigorous training. He wore a white button up shirt with the top two buttons unbuttoned, denim jeans, and a tan roughside leather vest. In a holster on his left side he had a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun. A device in his pocket was a new piece of technology that held a small portion of the Dratherian libraries and a healing device. He had been gifted with these tools and now he was to use them.

The control technician began to speak over the loudspeaker as Kane entered the chamber, "We will begin operations in 5....4.......3.......2.........1.....engage!" As Kane powered up his abilities an explosion rocked the space around him. He tried to stop the incursion but it was too late it had already begun. In a blast of sound and pain hit him he blacked out. Only to awaken in a place unfamiliar to him. Somewhere unknown and somewhen unknown. He stood up and adopted the style of clothing of a local. He then walked to the nearest person he could find and said, "Where am I?"

20 km from Glascovia
British Londinium
1996

The Londinian military was ragged, down, and, as some might report, down for the count. The Atopians, though, no matter how well supplied, were on the defence, and no matter how desperate, how 'pathetic' the British Londinians were, they had encircled the interim capital of Glascovia. And they had one advantage over the Atopians - something worth fighting for.

Corporal Adad Vartanian slung his AK-103 assault rifle over his shoulder as he began to take a bite out of his military-issue rations. Mid-bite, however, a bizarre flash of light appeared, and an oddly dressed man seemed to have appeared from nowhere.

"Halt!" the young soldier screamed, fumbling to aim his weapon. "What the hell are you doing here? This is the last place you want to fucking be! I thought all civilians were supposed to be in hiding or something! Goddamn it!"

Immediately Kane understood what this meant. The experiment had been compromised and he was lost somewhere in the timestream. He immediately upon hearing the man's words went to the defensive. He made himself in the appearance of a soldier in their army the rank of a Corporal. He appeared faceless to the soldier. When he left, the soldier would not remember him at all. But for now he needed this man's help. The soldier would be convinced that he was a member of he Army. The technology implanted in his body in conjuncture with his psychic strengths gave him these abilities. He walked up to him and said, "I was separated from my platoon and I am new to this area can you point me to the command center?"

"Command centre?" Adad laughed. "Couple kilometres to the southwest, that's where the 'command centre' is. More like a random conglomerate of military officers desperately trying to come up with a plan, if you ask me - but you aren't." He took another bite out of his sandwich. "But as an NCO, I wouldn't go back there without good bloody reason."

Kane smiled and laughed, "Aye I understand. Well good luck to you brother and keep faith. All will be well." With that Kane walked away and the soldier would remember nothing about him. When he tried to remember all he would remember was walking along his patrol route. He made his way at a fast run to the command center. He then took the form of an officer from the Intelligence branch. He walked in wearing the rank of a colonel in a form no one would remember after he left. He immediately asked a nearby Lieutenant, "What is the current situation?"

Lieutenant Berkowitz turned around to face the colonel, futilely attempting to straighten the tattered remnants of his uniform. He pressed his fist against his left hip, then extended the arm forward, palm down, at a forty-five degree angle.

"Sir, the situation is proceeding according to plan, sir," he said. "Troops are currently surrounding the city of Glascovia, Royal Navy vessels are attempting to assemble and begin a shelling of the city, and the Royal Air Force is mustering up all the planes it can find to provide air cover. Sir."

Kane nodded and then said, "What of the enemy force? Are there signs of a counteroffensive?" Through all of this his handheld device was absorbing all the information it could about the time period and it's people.
British Londinium
23-07-2007, 03:06
"Well, sir, we don't believe so," Berkowitz replied. "We lack access to our satellite data at the time - the uplinks are in Atopian hands - but our agents indicate that enemy does not think we'll penetrate their outer perimetre. We believe that they don't know about the naval and air forces."

Kane nodded and turned away fading into non-existence before the soldiers eyes but he would remember nothing as Kane walked away. He saw no need for him to interfere time seemed to be taking it's natural course so he would not. He decided to learn. He decided to move silently and work on his dilemma of how to get home.

Kane sat in an alley still aware of the goings on around him. He thought about all the training that had gone on to bring him to this point. He had found a surgeon to do the surgeries necessary to prolong his life. The surgeries had implanted organs in his body that made his body regenerate quicker and thus allowed him a much longer life. His body had been chemenhanced so that he moved and reacted quicker than any normal human. His psychic abilities had been bolstered when he trained in the halls of the Psychic Academies of the Dratherian Empire.

Once he had been selected to the program he had to be a fit, trained killing machine. He had trained in combat against the legendary Space Marines themselves. He had been taught by Kivpa Hekis; Primarch of the Hunters of Darkness in the art of the sniper. Kailen; the Primarch of the Hellblazers had trained him in the art of swordsmanship. It had taken him a great deal of time to learn all of this but it made him a superior warrior. He was one of the Imperium's finest. Peras; Primarch of the Psi-Lords had even trained him to focus his psychic abilities beyond anything he had imagined before. He slowly remembered to his final test before his surgeries had begun.....

Kane felt the bead of sweat roll down his cheek. He had been in the jungle for days now and he was sick and tired of being hunted. Now he was going to do the hunting. His grip tightened around the Nemesis Force Sword in his left hand. While his other hand twitched slightly as it held his .45 in readiness. He had entered the minds of the men below them they wouldn't know what hit them..............child's play. The real problem would be the enemy that waited for him beyond in the clearing. With silence and ease he dropped down behind the men. They didn't hear a thing as Kane struck with the speed of lightning. The only sound heard was the thud as their headless bodies dropped to the ground. The blood flowed around his feet like a river. He made the sign of the aquilla as he knew both these men had just done their duty for the Imperium.

He quickly looked up and with the speed of a god he was in the clearing. standing silently in the center was none other than 209 the Imaginary Number Assassin. An experiment of the Dratherians to create the perfect assassin genetically engineered and superior to humans in many ways. While they did not have psychic powers many did master the ability to control ki. He was a dangerous opponent indeed. He smiled eerily at Kane and softly spoke, "So you are finally ready to die?" Kane laughed as his body started to glow with the multi-hued color of the warp. It crackled around his body as he spoke, "You truly do have a god-complex. No I am ready for your death." 209 smiled again as the ki gathered around him in a red-blue hue. He then yelled, "Fine the let us see who is the better!" In a flash 209 was gone his katana flashing out to cut Kane to ribbons. Kane jumped back and narrowly avoided his attackers blade as his fatigues were ripped from his torso. His Nemesis blade glowed and danced with eldritch fire as he struck out against 209. Still though 209 was faster. Everytime Kane increased his speed so did 209.

Kane finally had had enough. As fast as he was moving he was still fighting a true assassin. But he wasn't going to die without a fight. He focused and channeled his psyker powers through his sword and drove the blade straight into the ground. In a burst of warp fire the clearing was engulfed in psychic energy sending 209 crashing to the ground. He quickly moved in on the assassin channeling all his power into the blade for one last attack. 209 was up before he could get there but Kane was ready this time. He fired five psychically charged rounds into 209's chest sending him off his feet again. And then with his last bit of strength Kane brought his blade across 209's chest cutting him in twain. Kane slowly sank to his knees as he felt the warm caress of the transporter. Four days later he awoke in his chambers on Aquaria where they told him it was time for his true tests to begin.

He slowly concentrated his powers and in flash of temporal energy he jumped again this time he had ended up in a new time period on a distant world one he did not recognize. But he could feel great power on the planet to which he had appeared on.

At first, Kane thought he was back on Earth in the mid 20th century. He saw large multi-storey buildings, vehicles zooming to and fro, even a large metallic object in the sky overhead. It was then he noticed there was none of the noise of a modern urban setting. The vehicles zipped about silently, there was no traffic noises, the air did not smell of pollution, and that large object in the sky made no noise and there was no vapor trail from the jet engines.

Something was not right.

The streetlights were still on, even though it was before sundown. There was a strange scent in the air, barely detectable behind the crisp smell of the sea. The people walking around, although human enough, were acting strange.

From the alley he arrived in, he could peer from behind a large dumpster and watch the street traffic. The “cars” rolled along without touching the ground and they appeared to not have anybody controlling them. A wagon rolled by full of crates but there was no engine space, nor any way of pulling or pushing the vehicle. The driverless wagon rolled past the alley opening, only to be followed by what could only be a bus, hovering about a foot above the ground. It was crafted out of wood and metal and the only noise from the vehicle came from the passengers.

He crept to the edge of the alley and looked around the corner. The first thing he noticed was a hovering disk with multiple colors being emitted from it. The disk floated over the intersection just down the street and it periodically changed colors, almost like it was directing the stopping and going of the street traffic. Several stores with strange glyphs covering their glass panes lined the street in both directions. Several of the glyphs were glowing, switching between different colors much like the traffic control but these colors seemed to be for attracting customers instead of directing traffic.

It was just about then he noticed the buzzing he was hearing from the people was both with his ears and from within his head.

He was definitely detecting something with his psionic abilities but it seemed to be just beyond his grasp. It was as if he was listening to a distant radio station but there was a storm in the way causing interference. He then realized he had seen not one technological item in the few minutes he had been here, even though he was in the middle of a modern city of some size.

His curiosity was definitely asking to see more.

Kane watched all these things with fascination. He made it so he was displaced. So that no one in the area could see or touch him. He focused his mind in the way he was trained. He reached out and felt the soul of the world flow around him. The planet seemed more alive than any he had ever encountered. It wasn't the lifeforms on the planet, no it was something else. He had been trained in the Dratherian Temples which were held secret by the few people who still practiced their arts. These worlds were near impossible to find hidden away like gems. There they had trained the students to manipulate Ki, Mana, Chakra, and all other manners of arcane energies. He reached out and felt it flow and wrap around him like a warm blanket. It was comforting to him. He felt it slowly fill him and surround his being.

He grabbed his scanner out of his pocket and took readings from the planet around him. The scanner began to cross reference this planet with the Genesis Library. It like many things in the galaxies was in the Genesis Library if you knew where to look. He read up on the planet. It was mana rich so much so that it suppressed technology. Luckily his temporal technology like him was both there and not. Not much else was known. The people that were here now were nowhere in the Library which meant he was seeing a missing part of the Library and as such was his responsibility to learn more. He shifted his form to that of a local he would find out what was going on here and more importantly he would gather all the data he could on the people. He set off at a brisk pace towards what seemed to be a city hall.

Kane, in disguise, walked toward the section of town that seemed to be the center of government. His disguise seemed to be perfect but every once in a while he caught someone looking funny at him. Perhaps it was his imagination…

The gothic style government buildings were directly ahead and he approached them as sundown was about to happen. The gargoyles perched upon the roof were illuminated by the crimson glow of the setting sun. The eerie light made some of the roof decorations seem as if they were moving. The great double doors were before him, adorned with several bas relief carvings. They depicted several native scenes and symbols of various meanings, all cryptic to the visitor.

There were several people exiting from the building heading their way towards home. The streetlights becoming more apparent as the ambient darkness increased. Several carvings in the side of the building flickered as if they were on fire, except the flames were blue, green, and other colors in addition to the normal colors Kane was used to seeing. Overhead a clock tower with the numbers writing in glowing fire began to chime.

Kane started to grow uneasy as he noticed the stares he was getting from the people around him. These people shouldn't even notice him this didn't seem right. As he walked up to the doors it reminded him much of the buildings of the Imperium. He decided maybe he wouldn't be able to stay hidden much longer. He focused as he detected the probing of other minds to his own. He tried to separate himself from them but it wasn't doing him much good. He saw the flickering clock and the carvings on the walls. This was the work of arcane energies. He watched as the arcane energies being focused seemed to increase. He then detected the presence of something he shouldn't have on this planet. Warp energy, the pure power of the Immaterium was present in force. He bristled up his powers in a defensive wall around his mind and pushed open the doors to the building and stepped inside......

As Kane walked through the doors, he was met by a cool interior, almost as if the building had air conditioning. The internal climate was a relief to the warmth of the summer day outside. Air currents swam about the large hall he stood in. Kane’s senses could detect several entities, elemental in nature, lounging in the upper reaches of the hall. They seemed to be playing in the cool breeze.

Drifting slowly about were globes of light. These were not objects that were hovering in place; it was as if the very air itself in the small area was charged with white light. The light globes illuminated the entire reception hall in their bright light, their movements causing shifting shadows from the statuary lining the walls. The statues depicted various individuals that were obviously important to the culture. They did not look familiar to Kane but they all wore either regal outfits depicting a ruler or military uniforms. Magical flames and lights seemed to be incorporated tastefully into their design.

The people in here seemed to be dressed similar to any other civilian government personal Kane had met before, adjusting to this worlds separate styles. The warm tropical climate meant they would wear light and easy to breathe clothing while retaining the business-mindedness; of course there were personal touches to the outfits based upon the individual’s likes.

Wherever he went he noticed strange glances out of the corner of his eye and that persistent buzzing, almost as if he was just under something he could not hear. The only problem is he was not hearing it, he was feeling it. He looked around the hall and the many carvings in the walls and the ceiling supports seemed to be looking at him. Perhaps it was only a trick of the flickering shadows of even his imagination, he was not sure.

Kane was worried about this feeling he kept having. He looked around at the statues and knew that none of this was right. He grabbed for the grip of his sword feeling it slung across his back comforted him. Although no one could see it. He walked straight into the Mayor's office posing as a messenger with an important message. "Greetings Mr. Mayor I bring an important message."

“Ah, I’ve been expecting you but what took you so long to get here?”

Kane turned and say a man of average build coming out of an office to his side. He was dressed in a suit and looked every bit like a stereotypical politician.

“You can drop the act; we know you are not a messenger. We noticed you a little after your arrival and kept tabs on you as you made your way here. You can back your hand away from your blade and your pistol; you have no deed for them. If we wanted you dead, you would have never left that alley outside a body bag, or a mop bucket.”

The mayor walked over to Kane and stopped a few feet in front of him, just outside of arm’s reach.

“Undoubtedly you can reach me before I could react. Trust me, you don’t have to. Please follow me; we are going for a ride. There is someone who wants to talk with you.”
Dratheria
24-07-2007, 10:36
Kane looked at the man with a stark gaze, "Alright then......." He let the facade he had created drop away. His head danced with a red and blue hued nimbus as flows of the golden energy known as mana circled his body. It flowed in the forms of arcane symbols and languages that the people of this planet could never hope to understand without his help. He channeled it around him and let it encompass him like a suit of armor. He stepped forward and said, "Fine let us go." If he was to be attacked by these people he would be ready for that attack. He blocked his mind off completely wrapping it in shrouds of ki, warp energy, and mana. How they had seen through his temporal shroud he was determined to find out.

The man Kane knew as “mayor” led him out of his office and back outside to the front of the building. As they exited the cool interior of the structure, they reentered the heat of the tropical climate outside. Sweat began to bead up on his skin as a carriage pulled up to the bottom of the steps that lead from the street to the great double doors of the main entrance. The mayor led Kane down the steps and he waited as the door opened itself. He climbed in first knowing Kane would follow. As the carriage pulled away from the curb, he happened to glance upward and noticed the earlier stone gargoyles were waking up for their nocturnal duties of guarding the building from evil spirits and bad luck, or so the myth goes.

The carriage drove through the streets following a general uphill climb until the buildings turned into residential structures. They disappeared as the carriage climbed a windy road overlooking the bay below, lit with lights from the many boats floating on the mirror like sheet. Both moons were reflected in the calm surface. Kane looked up and noticed there was only a single moon in the sky.

After a few minutes, they pulled through a large gate set into a high wall and traveled across a wide green field toward a tall building that was lit up with lights as if it were burning. The carriage came to a halt before the main doors of the structure and the mayor indicated silently that Kane should exit the vehicle. As he turned to face the mayor, who just climbed out himself, Kane saw the carriage fade away into nothingness. Noticing his look, the mayor simply responded, “It saves on parking”.

Kane was lead up to the main doors, which opened upon their own as they approached. Kane’s senses were going haywire with each step closer; the power levels here were incredible. Waiting for him in the doorway was a man dressed simply in white robes trimmed in gold. He was obviously in charge.

“I am so glad you could make it, I am Nhur-Galladu and this is The Academy. I am wondering what a Class C mind is doing here?”
Dratheria
24-07-2007, 11:30
He could feel the energy from inside the Academy. It was mana but he also detected a high level of warp energy too. It looked as if he had messed up real bad. Who knew what effects this could have on the timestream. He looked at the speaker in the white robes and detected massive amounts of energy emanating from him. He smiled he knew where he had heard this before but he would keep that to himself. He wrapped his mind tighter in it's shroud. He stepped forward and said, "My name is Kane and as crazy as this sounds I'm from the future. I got thrown through the timestream during an experiment when an explosion hit our lab. However by all records we have in the Genesis Library you shouldn't even be here. While the humans should be there shouldn't be any Psi-beings such as the Ta'Nar here. So how about you clue me in one what's going on?"
Dyelli Beybi
24-07-2007, 11:42
"Whoa, what the hell was that!" a fairly non descript man in a lab coat, jerked upright, spilling coffee all over his lap.

His partner didn't even seem to notice, staring at the dials. As the first stood up, swearing his lungs out, the second leaned over the desk to an intercom, "All Gateways, report status."

Gateway 6 open... Gateway 1 open... Gateway 5, nothing to report... Gateway 3 open... Gateway 2 ok... Gateway 4 open...

The scientist paused, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. The dials had registered energy levels like a gateway being opened, but it was different, the signal was weaker...

"I don't think this was from within our facility." he spoke to his companion.

There was no response, he turned to find him gone, probably to the bathroom to do something about the coffee...

There were implications here. People could be silly with time. So many people had asked why they couldn't just go back in time and destroy Dyelli Beybi's enemies before they could become a threat. Easy, but then of course nobody would have gone back in the first place, so the enemies would never have been destroyed, so someone would have gone back, so they would have been destroyed... Basically the theory went the universe would probably explode if they changed anything too major.

Another people jumping through space and time was a problem. It would need to be investigated...

“Come in and sit down, there are better places to speak of this than an open doorway.”

Nhur-Galladu gestured and the mayor led the way through several rooms into a grand sitting room. There was a fire lit but it did not provide warmth, which would be too much in this oppressive climate. Kane looked closer and realized the fire was burning in reverse, sucking heat and smoke out of the air and cooling down the room. Lightglobes floated about the room casting their radiance on many of the knickknacks adorning the shelves. One section of wall contained three bookshelves and a quick glance of the titles would reveal they were mainly instructional volumes such as a teacher would possess.

Nhur-Galladu turned from the table he was standing holding two glasses partially filled with a right golden liquid.

“Do try the brandy, it is quite delicious.”

He offered one to Kane and took a seat in a comfortable chair. After Kane took his seat, Nhur-Galladu took a sip of his drink, savored the liquid fire, and let it flow down his throat.

“Well, our story is quite long, but being a time traveler you would have plenty of time to listen to it. I take it by your reaction you have heard my name before and since you are not anyone I have met before you could be what you claim. Please do not tell me anything of my possible future, I do not wish to know. If the knowledge would be used then it would divert me and my people down an alternate timeline. I do not wish to condemn the Ta’Nar to that fate so hold your tongue in matters of that nature.”

“Centuries ago our ship, The Bal Rogga was accidently caught in the mana field of this planet. We were en route to our home planet from a colony world when we encountered the mana field. That caused system failures across the board and we were unable to maintain our altitude and crashed. Six million Ta’Nar were on that ship and as you guessed, there was no way to get off the planet. The field even interfered with our psionic attempts at contacting our brethren; we were trapped until we could discover our own way off.”

“After we left the vicinity of our landing, actually in the bay below the cliff, we found a very primitive humanoid species in the hills nearby. It seems the human we first found was a shaman who had seen the vapor trail of the falling ship and thought it was a meteorite or something similar. He mistook our arrival with a sign from his ancestors and was hunting for the crash site. We remained invisible and observed the shaman and followed him around. We saw him perform feats of magic, rather primitive and untrained but simple little things like producing fire or an energy bolt to take down a rabbit. An idea came to me and I discussed it with my crew. “

Kane interrupted Nhur-Galladu, “Your crew?”

“Yes, my crew. I was the, um; I believe you would call it commander or something to that order, of The Bal Rogga. “Nhur” as a prefix to a name means greatest commander. In a nation it would be the leader of that country. In your tongue I would have been called Commander Galla’Du, but when Nhur is added, it became Nhur-Galladu.”

Kane nodded at the grammar instructional, more interested in the story than conjugating verbs.

“Sorry, I digress. The ship crashed and we found a primitive society wrapped in superstitious beliefs. The holy men were able to accomplish some very minor tricks but other than that they were completely untrained. Now, I know from our own magic use, you can transfer objects from one place to another. Teleportation. Everyone knows about that from the entertainment vids and stories. Now, what would it take to move an entire island from one world to another? One hell of a lot of magic, and millions of mages casting the same spell simultaneously. The first problem was they were too primitive with their magical skills.”

“After discussing it with my crew as well as several influential and knowledgeable Ta’Nar passengers, it was decided to attempt the Plan. There was really no other way to get off this planet without walking, something that would take far longer than the Plan.”

“We spread out and traveled the world as non-corporeal spirits searching for shamans throughout the tribes. We located every one we could and possessed them either directly or enticed them to join us. We then traveled back to these islands and began to build a society that would not only uplift their magical abilities, but also their quality of life. We introduced literature to the entire population, educated them, and made their existence much easier. As things improved on the islands, others were drawn by the society of the islanders. Neighboring lands wished to become part of the idea and they were allowed. Their own society quickly adopted the ways and ideals of the islanders. Each nation was allowed to run them own affairs but they would have to be overseen by some of the Mages. Eventually a Magnocracy developed over time and spread through the lands. It was fast and the promise of easier lives spurred them foreword. Of course their magical abilities were tested while they were being schooled and those showing Talent were sent to the Academy to undergo training in the Art.”

Nhur-Galladu paused to take another drink of his brandy. Talking tended to dry out the throat.

“The Ta’Nar was to possess the strongest mages and use our talents to expand their abilities. We would teach those who were brought to the Academy so hey in turn would teach others. It took a long time but now that almost ten centuries have passed, we are still trying. It seems we have hit an impasse.”

Nhur-Galladu paused and took another sip.

“It seems their mortal bodies cannot channel the power needed to transfer us to another world. We could force them but that is not right. We have been stumped by this for years and cannot discover a way. We have tried everything imaginable.”

“What would you suggest? Remember, the humans should not be harmed in any way.”

Kane looked down in thought as he tasted the brandy. It was a smooth drink and obviously high quality. He then let out a deep sigh. Finishing the last of the alcoholic drink he let the mana wrap around the glass and it turned into a colored glass figure of the Dratherian Seal (http://www.sidian.net/yinyangsm.jpg) and set it down on the table. "Hrm well here's the thing in one month's time a specialized expedition of the Dratherian Empire is supposed to fly by tis sector to investigate this world. The Ta'Nar weren't here and it appears without my help you will be here. That will change the timestream in a very bad way. There are some things I could teach your people to increase their power but that's not what you need. You need a way to channel the mana energies into a focus."

He then grabbed the glass seal again and it's shape changed to a spire (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/83/248029552_919d054a78.jpg?v=0). He smiled and said, "This is an ancient Dratherian structure used to focus the three energies of the universe as they knew them. The Soul, Warp energy. The Being, Ki. And the world, Mana. The last needing to be the most prominent. It must be made from these energies. It will be a difficult and taxing process but it can be done. So what do you say?"

“A Foci? We have tried them already. What makes this one different from the countless others? We have even tried to modify the basic human bodies to allow them to channel the mana but nothing worked. There is apparently a finite limit to what they can accomplish.”

Nhur-Galladu stood up and walked over to the wet bar. He picked up the bottle and returned to his chair with it. After refilling Kane’s glass, he added more to his also. He held the glass up to the moonlight streaming in the window and watched the golden liquid framed moon for a few seconds.

“So, we have less than a month but no way to accomplish moving everyone. We could simply create a gate but then there are signs all over these islands we were here but you never detected that. That could only mean we have to remove the islands from the planet too. What exactly did the survey show? I need to know what remained so we can concentrate on what to take instead of taking the whole society as we had planned.”

Kane smiled, "Well this whole island chain didn't exist. Maybe one foci isn't where we should be looking." He stood up drinking more of the amber liquid. Smiling he looked back at Nhur-Galladu and pulled pieces of metal from a cargo pouch on pants dropping them on the floor. Holding his hand over the metal on the ground he created a replica of the island down to the last detail. Crackling energy drew towers up surrounding the island while a single giant spire grew from the center of the island. He gestured to the diagram and said, "Using all of these spires we need not create a gate of any kind. Rather I suggest moving this entire area to another dimension. Then to another location kind of like a trans-dimensional slide."

He looked out through the window across the sea sighing slightly before voicing his thoughts, "This place reminds of my home planet. I grew up on Aquaria many millenia from now. There was an attack on her by a force of bastards calling themselves the Republic. But somehow we prevailed sadly historical texts aren't always accurate. It left a large scar on it's single continent. That's where my home was we called it the Valley of Tears. It was a beautiful place with many gardens and when it would rain there it would always be warm that is why it was named the Valley of Tears." Looking back at where Nhur-Galladu sat he said, "So what do you say?"

Nhur-Galladu walked over to the table and looked at the display. The solution seemed to be wrong but along the right track. He walked around the table with the model, examining it from every angle. He seemed to be deep in thought as if he was listening to others. In truth he was conferring with his Advisors, the Ta’Nar in the 4th Tier. The eight Advisors considered the situation, looking at the model through Nhur-Galladu’s eyes.

The placement would be wrong for a transference advised Galvenor.

Towers are not the ideal Foci for the transfer of the islands commented MilAmber.

If we remove the Empire, what would happen to the people here asked Stark.

What do his records show being left behind inquired Morganna

Will we be able to accomplish this in the allotted time worried Lar’Sohn

And so forth… All these voices were whispering securely within Nhur-Galladu’s mind, providing him with the information he needed for his decision. The Ta’Nar Ling was very secure and practically undetectable any all so he was confident there would be no chance of this traveler overhearing. If he could then the voices of six million Ta’Nar would have already driven him mad by their relentless whispering.

Nhur-Galladu stopped and spoke, “While it would be a great idea we cannot be sure it would take the entire substructure of the islands with only those towers. They are easily designed for a surface transfer, not the land below. Perhaps this…”

As Kane turned to look at the display curiously, the entire thing rippled and the towers inverted. The Foci was now beneath the surface and directed to the heart of the islands and the empire they made. The tall central tower disappeared but was not replaced by an inverted form. Nhur-Galladu did not make a move when he manipulated the energy bonds instead using only his mind.

“I need to know what your records detected in order to prepare the remainder of the planet. While the Foci are being constructed, we apparently have to remove all traces of our existence, including maps, books, and even carvings, depending on how good your sensors are. That is something we could detect if our ship were space worthy and outside the Mana Barrier so it could deploy the probes. I need to know as much as possible the condition of the planet so we can direct the operation efficiently as possible.”

Kane looked thoughtfully at his omnicorder for a moment and then said, "Like many worlds there were local legends, texts, carvings, and such of an ancient and powerful civilization. I do not have a space faring vessel of any kind in fact the thing is I am the vessel. Yes certain things may have to be removed and for that I can greatly aid you. See my ability to time travel comes through the trained and enhanced ability of folding the STC. So accordingly i can also bend space around myself to teleport me anywhere I need to go on this planet." He gripped a piece of diamond he had in his pocket and shaped it into the colored form of the Dratherian Seal and handed it to Nhur-Galladu, "Keep that with your leaders. It may come in handy someday."

Nhur-Galladu seemed puzzled for a moment or two before realizing the mistake Kane had made.

"No, you misunderstood. The phrase 'your ship' was referring to the survey ship that will be here in a month, not the craft you had arrived in because you already explained you yourself was Sideslipping through the Alternate Timelines."

Nhur-Galladu took the item handed to him and examoned it carefully.

"This has interesting energy patterns, what is it for?"

Kane smiled for a moment, "Well actually alternate timelines isn't exactly correct. More or less I am slipping through the timestream from which I was born into." Then glancing at the seal he said, "It is an energy signature that will be recognized by the Imperium millenia from now. This one such seal will alert you when one from the Imperium is close as well as when it is in imminent danger. Consider it your lifeline to my people. While many in the Imperium are xenophobic this will allow you a measure of safety when you approach any of their fleets. For the signature which that crystal emits is the personal signature of the royalty of the Imperium."

Kane looked at the design once more and said, "Well perhaps we should begin soon."

“Yes, we should begin but first I need to know everything your people know about this world so we can use these 30 days to craft a duplicate of your readings. That means we will have to undertake sociological changes, geographical changes, we have to construct the Foci, and we have to devise the enchantment itself.”

Nhur-Galladu refilled his glass and offered more to his guest.

“Without that template to work for, we cannot have any idea of where to begin. If we leave anything out it will create a paradox and send out the bud for an alternate timeline. I would hate to have my people condemned to live out their existence on an alternate because we forgot some details. My asking for the information should not violate anything because I am asking about the future of this world as already recorded, thus a natural part of the main timeline. I already know we have to take the island chain with us because you have said so. What other geographical changes do we need to make?”

The Emperor took another sip of the wine before continuing.

“Also, what materials do we need to construct these Foci out of? We will have to gather them and transport them to the individual sites. We also have to excavate the sites before we can begin building them, unless…”

Nhur-Galladu seemed to get an idea. He forwarded it to his Advisors to mull over while continuing his conversation with Kane.

The Enchantment is another thing we have to construct. While it is only made of words, they are harder than any structure to put together correctly, especially when you want to move mountains with them. There is also another thing that has to be designed into the spell, the erasure of the memories of us and the enchantment so it cannot be used by the humans. This means it has to be done right the first and only time we use it. If we have to start over we will have to teach the spell all over again and we don’t have that much time. The Ta’Nar will have to be conduits for the energies of the spell while the humans cast it across the planet. We will need every human that can speak to assist so their memories will be erased. That is a lot of teaching to get done. The spell also needs to be designed so there is not any requirement of magery needed, that means it has to be self powered instead of powered off the caster like normal.”

The Ta’Nar looked Kane straight into his eyes.

“Can this be done?”

Kane smiled finishing off the last of his drink he said, "Yes it can be it will be a little bit difficult but it can be done. And we will use this...." He slowly drew an amulet (http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b84/windofthestars/ebay/amulet2-1.jpg) from his shirt. It glinted it's beautiful jewel mesmerizing. It contained powerful arcane energies and seemed to glow with a dark and bright aura simultaneously. He smiled again and said, "This is one of the most powerful magics in existence originating from times untold before the universe began as we know it. It will power every thing but I will need to cast it controlling it's powers it will be difficult but necessary." He said, "So when do we begin?"

Nhur-Galladu eyed the amulet suspiciously.

"That trinket hardly seems like it contains the Power needed for such a spell. How exactly does it work?"

Nhur-Galladu took another dring from his glass and he sat back to listen to his guest.

"Also, what do you suggest as far as the wording of the spell? The way to ensure we are forgotten as well as the spell by the humans when we leave."

He again hesitated before continuing.

"Also, what exactly did we leave behind according to the survey that takes place in one month? We need to match it exactly or a paradox will occur."

He smiled mischieviously at first and then laughed, "Well it was forged in Hell centuries ago and then blessed by heaven. It contains great power and how it works well no one knows for sure actually. As for the spell I do not know exactly what to suggest. Although most surely it should be built with a fog of memory spell. As for what you left behind? No technology and only vague writings and legends."
