After the GDI taskforce had been sent to engage the Wanderjarians over Mechis IV, and Vice Admiral Charles Darmein sent to lead it, the Global Defense Initiative settled in to wait for word of the taskforce. Either calling to report victory, either through their force of arms, or through GFFA reinforcements.

Or....

To call desperately for reinforcements as they are being overwhelmed. In being honest with himself, Director Granger suspected it would be the latter. So that was why he had the Eagle on standby to be sent to aid them and retrieve their forces. The rest of the fleet, a total of nine ships, were now tasked with protecting the system. Four ships, two destroyers and two cruisers, were tasked with patrolling the border and all the planets up to Mars, while the other five patrolled the space around Terra Prime and the other planets. This would be tight but it could be done.

The patrol was set and GDI space was protected...for the moment. The Director had no illusions that their defenses were weakened and that any enemy would be eyeing them right now...especially Nod. He wouldn't be surprised if a Nod fleet appeared right on his doorstep. He tasked High Admiral Conway to watch over the system until, if the situation called for it, was called way to Mechis IV. Unbeknownst to them, the Director was right and they were being watched....

So it was that High Admiral Conway stood on the bridge of the Eagle, inspecting an anomaly detected by sensors. It had been detected several minutes ago and it had remained, pulsating and fading with even intervals. His instincts blared that someone was here but protocol had to be followed; no need to aggravate the fleet for nothing but a ghost. "EVA, what am I seeing here?"

The A.I.'s voice was cool and calculating, no spot of worry or anxiety in its voice. "We are reading a space-time anomaly in sector four-seven-two. It is on the patrol route. Recommend that an investigation be carried out."

"What I wouldn't give for a nerve like that..." Shaking off the thought, Conway spoke.

"Agreed. Lieutenant Parkins, send a message to the patrol group and have them investigate this anomaly. Have them keep their weapons and shields hot; no idea what could happen."

The patrol group, led by Commander Kyle Tulos, soon arrived at the spot of the anomaly and began scanning, having no idea of what was about to happen....

The Commander sat in his chair, hands clasped together as he watched the situation. The anomaly was pulsating even more now, and it wasn't ebbing. Strange..."Lieutenant Shiowa, what can you tell me about this anomaly?" The Lieutenant, a fiery and brash red head with a knack for gravitic calculations, checked her math.

"Well, sir, from what I can tell and from EVA, it appears to be an expanding energy field. There are scattered readings of matter within it but there is too much electromagnetic interference and EVA can't get enough data. If we had the Eagle's sensors, we may have been able to. But as it is, its all I can say."

Kyle nodded. "EVA, anything to add." The A.I. spoke, calmly addressing each point.

"There is nothing much else to say; the Lieutenant covered it extensively. The only thing else I am detecting is a buildup of energy and its forming a shape. Sensors cannot read but I would guess that-" A warning klaxon went off.

"Sir! We are detecting a massive energy surge! Large mass has been confirmed!" The Commander whirled to see an explosion of light and the Glorious Heritage Cruiser appeared. They all looked at how immense it was.

"Dear god that thing is huge..." Kyle gritted his teeth. So, someone was going to try and attack them. Not on his watch.

"Lieutenant Collins, send a message to Terra Prime and High Admiral Conway about this. Warn them of what is going on. Have all ships prepare; we may have a fight on our hands. Go to Red Alert." The bridge lights turned dark red and alarms went off. Troops in the fleet readied for anti-boarding actions and the fleet shifted into a line of four ships, curved towards the alien ship. Then, to further escalate the conflict, EVA's voice sounded throughout the bridge.

"Warning! Sensors detecting power output of alien vessel increasing. Alien vessel appears to be arming itself." The tension in the bridge jumped even higher and the Commander smiled grimly.

"Well, it appears they came to play, boys and girls. Let's give them a warning of how hard we play. Have all ships lock on to the ship. Have the cruisers lock on the engines, while we aim at the energy spikes. Their weapons have to be at those points. EVA, open a channel."

On the Glorious Heritage cruiser, target lock alarms would be going off as the four ships, weapons already powered, began to lock onto the ship. Then, they would see Commander Tulos's face appear on screen.

"Alright, I don't know who you are or who you think you, but you are invading GDI space and aiming weapons at us. Now, this is a Bad Thing. We are not of the temperament right now to deal with such threats. So, as such, you have one warning and one warning only. Power down your weapons, or, I swear to God, we will blow you to Hell and back so hard, you will be playing pinball on the way down."

The Commander's eye twitched. "Captain Ryu, let me make one thing clear: This is GDI space, my space. If anyone is giving orders, that will be me. Now, if you want us to stand down, you power down your weapons first. Then we shall power down ours. Our space, our rules." The Commander, however, did signal for the target locks to be taken off.

"Sir, they are launching what appears to be fighters." Kyle sighed and looked at Ryu.

"You say for us to stand down, THEN you launch fighters? Do you try not to make sense? Recall your fighters, power down, and we will power down."

"Sir, they are powering down weapons. Reading defensive systems still online. They have recalled most of their fighters, some are still deployed though." Tulos rubbed his forehead.

"Fine, power down all weapons but keep the shields and point defense systems on."

"Yes sir." Tulos turned back to the channel.

"Alright, now that is out of the way, what in God's name are you doing here?"

The Commander sighed and rubbed his forehead. Training a new flight officer, who put in the wrong coordinates and ended up in GDI space.

Lovely.

At his request to meet face to face, he nodded. "Very well. Here are the coordinates for Hangar Bay 13. I'll see you shortly." The channel cut out and he turned to face the bridge crew. "Unlock Hangar Bay 13 and move the doors out of the way. Have a welcoming escort of four Rifleman be sent down to bring him up here." They all nodded and set to work.

The doors to the hangar opened, allowing the shuttle to fly in and land. When the captain stepped out, he would see four soldiers standing their, rifles in hand. Their power armor gleamed in the light, making them an intimidating show.

The soldiers stirred, with two of them slowly looking at each other. Several tense seconds passed, as it soon became obvious they were speaking with each other. One of the soldiers stepped forward, his voice coming out clear and crisp from the speakers in his suit. "You will be allowed your weapons; however, their safeties must be on. If they have no safeties, they must be left behind." They waited for them to put any weapons they had without safeties, if any, back in their shuttle and to turn on their safeties. When they were done, the soldier nodded. [i]"Alright, come this way." They turned and walked out, escorting the newcomers to the bridge.

Hallway after hallway they passed through, the same dark gray, with the symbol of a golden eagle swooping down in a circle emblazoned on every day and on the occasional wall. Eventually, they reached a door which was labeled "BRIDGE", two of them flanked the door, while the other two entered. They would see an advanced-looking bridge, with several people working diligently and quietly. A brown haired man, with passionate brown eyes behind glasses was standing in the center, the bars for Commander on his shoulders. "Sir." The Commander turned, and upon seeing the High Guard, nodded.

"Thank you, Sergeant. Dismissed." The two soldiers turned and went to the door, taking either side and guarding it. Tulos gazed at Ryu. "Now, what do you want to discuss?"

Kyle fiddled with his collar, listening as Ryu put forth his offer. Glancing up, the Commander looked at Ryu, his eyes narrowed. "You sure you got authority for that? Because, since you came here by accident, I don't think some random ship captain has the authority to do so. I have nothing against you, but I hate legal quagmires. With a passion. Also, mind defining loose alliance for me. It may be 'loose' for you, but 'tight' for us."
