Basics

History of the Galactic Defense Initiative: The Galactic Defense Initiative used to be the Global Defense Initiative, as they were first created to help the planet Earth. They were a secret, covert, multinational force that was used to hamstring any conflicts or problems that arose in nations so as to prevent any more continental or world wide conflict. As the years passed, however, the public began to get word of what GDI really was. After the failed assassination attempt on Saddam Hussein, to try and halt the coming Persian Gulf War, the United Nations, who had made the group, decided to reformat it into a modern fighting force capable of taking on the problems of the modern era, with the arrival of Tiberium, the growth of the Brotherhood of Nod and other factors. Supported by the G8 nations of the world, the democratic, rich and industrialized nations, sought to ensure that peace would reign on the planet so they could focus on the Tiberium problem.

This was to prove to be a wise move.

The Brotherhood of Nod, led by a man named Kane, believed Tiberium, which was proving to be a very toxic substance, was the wave of the future and was to be embraced. They labeled GDI as tyrants and controlling dictators who used the developing world as resource depots for their own country's, and that they did not care for their problems. This, along with the aid and stability they brought into the countries they entered gave them a great amount of control and financial assets, allowing them to equal the GDI overally in strength.

As such, they began to fight GDI for control of the world, as GDI believed Tiberium was dangerous and had to be destroyed lest it destroy them. Many fronts were opened and both sides were caught in a vicious stalemate. Nod, seeking to gain the upper hand, painted a false public image of GDI, falsifying accounts of GDI slaughter innocent towns. This forced GDI to pull back out of many territories and for the UN to stop their public funding. Flushing with their success, Nod swooped in for the kill, believing GDI to be fatally crippled. They soon found out it was a trap, as GDI was seeking the upper hand as well and had secured it with this brilliant fake withdrawal. The bases they attacked were heavily fortified and GDI victories were happening everywhere. However, Nod was still a powerful force and it would be two more years of warfare before GDI finally located the main Nod headquarters at the Temple of Nod in Sarajevo. GDI immediately sent an attack force there, where elite Nod and GDI troops battled for days on end. Finally, Kane's defenses were destroyed and the orbital superweapon that GDI had managed to built, the Ion Cannon, was used to obliterate the temple, killing Kane and destroying Nod. This brought the First Tiberium War to a close, with a GDI victory.

Years passed and Tiberium continued to spread over the Earth, forcing humanity out of more and more land and causing their situation to become that much worse. In the absence of Nod, which had fractured into several small armies vying for what little power there was to be had, GDI continued its research of Tiberium and technological advancement was high. They created an orbiting space station, named the Philadelphia where the GDI moved its command and control to this station, and set up a network of anti-missile defenses to protect it. After nearly thirty years, however, trouble came back.

Culture and Language: The people of Terra Prime speak many languages, from English to French to German. English is and has always been the global language and it has been a required part of the school curriculum for all students to learn English to graduate, as per order by the Director of the Galactic Defense Initiative. The people of Terra Prime are a stubborn lot, with a knack for enduring bad times and wars, and fighting despite all odds. The fact that Terra Prime will remain forever scarred by Tiberium and the amount of lives lost in the Third Tiberium War has made them a grim and slightly culturally depressed people. However, they continue to move on to a bigger and brighter future. With the recent discovery of a method to control Tiberium outbreak, new hope has appeared for the denizens of Terra Prime

Economics: The economy of GDI is run off of the various exports and imports of Blue Zone, and several Yellow Zones, allowing a balanced economy. However, with decades of dealing with Tiberium, the potent, green crystal has become, to the frustration of the Initiative, an integral part of the global economy. In fact, if it wasn't for Tiberium and it's hold on the world economy, the GDI and it's member nations would have suffered a total collapse in the aftermath of the Third Tiberium War. Colonies recently being set up elsewhere are trading with Terra Prime and business is booming, especially for those in the starship industry.

Galactic Defense Initiative:

GDI is currently in complete control of its homeworld, Terra Prime, as Nod forces there have been completely eradicated and hunted down. Outposts in the asteroid belt, as well as on Mars, which is undergoing transformation via an immense terraforming project. The asteroid belt is the main Initiative naval base in the system, and Mars is the closest thing to a forward outpost/base that they have. Terra Prime is heavily fortified with orbital defense stations, the Ion Cannon and the Initiative System Defense Fleet (ISDF)

Primary Worlds of the Galactic Defense Initiative

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2a/Cc_screen001.jpg

Terra Prime. This planet is the homeworld of both the Initiative and the Brotherhood. Seventy-five percent of the world's surface is covered in great amounts of Tiberium. Fifty of it is uninhabitable by humans and is used by GDI as Tiberium harvesting grounds. The other twenty-five are the world's “Yellow Zones”, areas of strife and conflict. Moderately contaminated, a quarter of these zones are occupied by GDI, using them as forward bases to contain the Tiberium and provide aid to the suffering Zones. It also houses most of the world's population. The remaining Yellow Zones have GDI forces stationed and/or patrolling them, as they await the push of the global Sonic Emitter network. The remaining fifteen percent are the “Blue Zones”, untouched by Tiberium, and thanks to the invention of the anti-Tiberium chemical with sonic emitters, they never will. It is in these zones humanity lives at its best, and where GDI is most entrenched. Learning their lession for the Third War, GDI has fortified the Blue Zones to the point that it would take a massive invasion force, along with aerial and orbital bombardment, to take them.

This world is heavily defended, with a vast network of orbital defense platforms, that can deploy missiles, railguns, and Ion guns at its foes, along with the Ion Cannon network, and the Initiative fleet patrolling the system, it is an almost impossible target.

http://starchild.gsfc.nasa.gov/Images/StarChild/solar_system_level1/mars.gif

Mars. It is the forward base for GDI, and it is being prepared to be the new world for humanity to live on. Earth just has too little room, with all the Tiberium polluting Terra Prime. They need a place to expand, with controlled Tiberium deposits, and plenty of fertile land. Project Gaia is underway to terraform it into a new Terra Prime. A large amount of GDI military resources are there, along with the beginnings of its first naval base outside of the asteroid field. With all the military bases, shipyards and the Ion Cannon defense grid, while not as extensive as that of Earth's, it is a major military base and stronghold, as well as production facility, which will greatly speed colonization efforts of this system to new heights.

GDI

Director Jack Granger

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/63/GeneralJackGranger.jpg

Jack Granger had been the General in command of the entire GDI armed forces during the Third Tiberium War. Working together with the then GDI Commander who led the forces of America's Northeastern Blue Zone, they fought tirelessly against Nod, blunting and defeating the Nod invasion of the Eastern Seaboard, before turning their attention world-wide. Theatre's in Africa and Europe showed them bits and pieces of Nod's plan; finding a Tiberium weapons plant, and other facets of information, but they were defeated by the foresight of Kane and the interference of then Director Redmond Boyle, who fired the Ion Cannon and detonated the liquid Tiberium. Granger was surprised by the Scrin but he rallied with the Commander and forced the aliens back, destroying all but one tower, as that final taskforce was defeated by Nod.

In the years after the Third War, GDI chose General Jack Granger to take the place of Redmond Boyle, as they did not want another self-serving politician in control of GDI, and in so doing, the world. With plenty of military experience, and the will to carry through the fight, Jack Granger has led the GDI in a fierce space building program after the discovery of Scrin technology and is working tirelessly to ensure the safety of GDI. He also believes that Kane lives and is preparing for another attack by Nod.

The General

The man who started out as a commander of the American Blue Zone rose during the Third Tiberium War to become the General of the GDI armed forces, the former position of Jack Granger before he became the Director. He was promoted there by Granger, who noted that he “wouldn't trust the position to anyone else, as he has proven his worth to GDI a thousand times.” His efforts in the war are legendary and the entire world respects and reveres the man who almost single-handedly defeated the forces of Nod and those of the invaders. In the years after the war, he has continued to protect Terra Prime and its people.

Lieutenant Sandra Telfair

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9b/SandraTelfair.jpg

Former aide to General Granger, she now serves as the aide to the General who replaced Granger and won the Third Tiberium War for the Global Defense Initiative. Providing valuable intel and information on combat situations, she is key in ensuring GDI victory in battle.

Director Kirce James

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/97/Kirce.jpg

After her work in the Third Tiberium War, Lieutenant Kirce was promoted, with the blessing of the then-Commander and General Granger, to head of the InOps division. There, she gained the rank of Director, which is often confused by the rank Granger now holds. She briefs the General on every mission and on the continuing status of the world, the Tiberium and of alien nations throughout the galaxy.

High Admiral James Conway

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/84/GDI_General_Mark_Sheppard_%28C%26CTD%29.jpg

The first of his kind, High Admiral James Conway was appointed eight years ago when the GDI's naval program started in earnest. Although he hasn't had much to command and won't for several years, he is happy with what he has, as his ship, the flagship of the entire navy, the GDIS Eagle, is capable of taking on an entire battle fleet and come out on top, as skirmishes with the Scrin have shown. An extremely capable Naval Commander, he works closely with the General to ensure the protection of GDI and its peoples.

Technology of the Galactic Defense Initiative

Engine Technology

The GDI utilizes powerful Ion engines, which blast the ships forward with surprising speed and ease of movement, at least for ships of their size and density. Their engines blare a bright white color and are always on. The engines are immensely clean and run smoothly. Like all the systems of the ship, they run off of power plants which use fusion to power their systems, including the engines.

Armor Technology

The Initiative uses the same armor that it coats its vehicles, soldiers and structures with; armor designed to withstand Tiberium exposure and Ion storms, making the armor itself immensely durable and strong. And with the enhancements of making a hybrid armor of that and Tiberium, a sort of weave, the armor is even stronger and can absorb energy attacks.

Shield Technology

GDI energy shields are much more efficient and take up less power and space around the ship. Utilizing a combination of fusion primary and Tiberium secondary power plants, the shields are wrapped a close distance around the ship, enough to repel attacks and if the shield fails, give it time to lessen the impact, but close enough to minimize weight and speed reduction. Like the ships themselves, they can take a huge amount of punishment.

Sensor Technology

The GDI use advanced sensors that can detect any disturbances in space-time and gravity, along with anything along the EM spectrum, thermal, light and energy-based. Using fusion power has enhanced their sensors immensely and allows them to detect enemies from long range. If they need to see even farther, like in a nearby system or something, they can deploy drones throughout a system, to extend their range.

Weapons Technology

The Initiative, being relatively new to the galactic stage, has few weapons, some rather old-fashioned in the eyes of older and more powerful nations, but they get the job done. And with the Scrin enhancements made to them, along with even more coming along nicely, they have plenty of power and punch to them.

First and foremost, every GDI ship is literally covered from aft to stern with railgun batteries. These immensely powerful magnetic accelerators shoot dense shells that are laced or filled with Tiberium at high speeds, aided by an energy weapon that fires the shell, giving it more punch with an energy property and giving it more speed than normal magnetic accelerator weaponry. Every Initiative ship can fill the space between themselves and their foes with these beams and overwhelm their foes with these weapons. They can use shells laced with Tiberium, that simply punch through shielding and armor, with help from the Tiberium lacing, to cause untold damage. They truly shine, however, when the GDI ships switch over to Tiberium Core shells, which have an explosive core of liquid Tiberium, that when it hits a target, the shell rips through like normal, but the impact will sooner or later rip the delicate casing of the core, which activates a spark of energy that ignites the liquid Tiberium and causes an immense explosion of Tiberium energy. Perfect for enemies that are immune to the railguns.

Lesser versions of these are used by the ground forces of the Initiative. Riflemen use high-speed railgun repeaters that were prototypes in the Third Tiberium War, while Zone Troopers and their vehicles have even stronger and faster railguns, and the Commandos use a Ion repeater gun, a protoype weapon of itself.

Missiles are the tried and true weapons of the GDI and they continue to use them. Massive missile arrays dot the Initiative ships, allowing them to fill space with their explosive cargo. Like the shells for the railguns, the missiles have a normal explosive, with the casing being laced with Tiberium, or they can be armed with a liquid Tiberium core, allowing for greater damage and penetration. The point defense systems also use smaller, tracking missiles as part of protecting the ships from enemy missiles and fighters.

Lesser versions of the Ion Cannon have been made, resulting the immensely powerful, yet slow, Ion Blasters. These large and powerful weapons, dot the sides, roofs and bellies of the GDI ships, their large twin barrels speaking for themselves of the might of GDI. When used, they gathered the signature white energy of Ion technology and fire out twin beams of white light that impact with enemy ships and cause immense damage. Although they have been toned down for naval use, they still are estimated to be half as powerful as the Ion Cannon itself. Lesser versions of these weapons, Ion Lancers are used in the point defense systems, along with the missiles, sending out wave upon waves of Ion bolts to destroy both missile and fighter alike.

Although not deployed yet, there has been discussions, rumors and whispers of possible Tiberium Beam Weaponry being implemented by the GDI forces. There is plenty of resistance, as most already are angered by their dependence on the green crystal, and don't want to see more of it; especially Director Granger.

Sonic Emitters are a special type of weaponry found by the Initiative from the Tacitus, and are used as potent ground defenses, a secondary method of beating back Tiberium outbreak, and are used by elite soldiers of the Initiative in combat. They shatter their enemies soldiers and vehicles at the molecular level and break them apart.

Troop Types of the Galactic Defense Initiative

The ground forces of the GDI, these soldiers and vehicles ensure the safety of its people and provide the power and might needed to protect the Initiative from its enemies. If called upon, they will fight to the death against any foe threatening their people. War is no stranger to them, nor is conflict with aliens.

Current manpower total: 2,300,000

GDI Rifleman

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_rifle.jpg

This frontline soldier has been the staple of the Galactic Defense Initiative's forces for decades and has seen many revolutions and changes in his armor, equipment, and weaponry. These men and women have battled Nod, and most recently the Scrin, over multiple battlefields, in many theatres and operations, with only their courage, skill and determination to see them through. They are armed with high-speed railgun repeater carbines, and use fragmentation grenades. They are also able to throw up a makeshift bunker in no time flat, as each squad carries the pieces needed to make them. They were composite power armor made of a weave of the materials used in base construction and is laced with Tiberium to provide protection from laser attacks. It looks much like the Zone Trooper armor from the Third Tiberium War, except it has a function that allows for hard-helmet to encase the soldiers head, with an advanced HUD that reads enemy targets, scans nearby areas and provides information and shows armor integrity.

GDI Rocket Infantry

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_missilesquad.jpg

These men and women are the first line of defense/offense against enemy vehicles and aircraft. Utilizing state-of-the-art rockets, both laced and Tiberium core types, they take the fight to the enemy's armor and aircraft, and can inflict horrendous damage in urban environments, their rockets perfect in destroying structures. They use the same armor as the Rifleman. They wear power armor similar to that of the Rifleman.

GDI Grenadier

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_grenadier.jpg

These close assault soldiers of the GDI Armed Forces are perfect for supplementing a force of Rifleman and Rocket Infantry. Their grenades are accurate, with assistance from rockets built in to assure they hit their proper targets. The rocket-grenades also give the Grenadiers their legendary skill; they can clear buildings of enemies in no time flat. In go the grenades, out come the occupants. Even when not attacking garrisons, they are perfect for destroying enemy infantry, and with assistance from vehicles and/or Rocket Infantry, entire bases. Armor is much of the same as the Rifleman and the Rocket Infantry.

GDI Sniper

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_sniper.jpg

The Sniper is a vital tool in the arsenal of a GDI commander. They can kill almost any infantry from long ranges and throw the enemy into confusion, especially if their sniping preludes an ambush. They really shine as they are trained to use stealth and sneak around, doing recon and provide targeting data for the Juggernaut Walkers and Battleship's computers to launch artillery strikes on their enemies. They wear lighter versions of the power armor of the Rifleman, Grenadiers and
Rocket Infantry.

Commando

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_commando.jpg

These one-man armies are the elite of the elite. With their prototype Ion Repeater Carbine, they can lay waste to almost any infantry in a short time. Their power-armor is the best technology the Initiative has at this moment, with armor that could have come straight off of a barracks, and laced with Tiberium so as to disperse energy. With their jump jets, they can boost around the battlefield and lay havoc with their handheld explosives. Their is very slim yet powerful, strong, and smooth in its movement. A new age of power armor has arrived.

Zone Troopers

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_zonetrooper.jpg

These soldiers are an awe-inspiring sight on the battlefield, with their massive power armor, powerful Rail Rifles, they are pure destruction in a single package. Their armor is designed to repel anti-infantry fire up to a point and with the Tiberium lacing the armor, can disperse energy as well. Their jump jets allow them to jump from place to place, wreaking havoc with insane speed. Their rifles allow them to deal tremendous damage to vehicles and put down infantry, making them the perfect ground soldier to deploy.

GDI Light Armor

Pitbull

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_pitbull.jpg

The primiary scout vehicle for the GDI, this light vehicle is designed for scouting purposes only; it is not strong enough to take on the foes of GDI in direct combat. It is best used for hit and run attacks, scouting and in support of other, mainline vehicles. It has two missile pods mounted on the rear of the Pitbull, which allows it to do significant damage to enemy armor and aircraft with its tracking, Tiberium-laced or core missiles. Those, however, are the older Pitbulls. Newly made ones are also equipped with a mortar cannon which fires mortar rounds at enemy vehicles, making them the perfect vehicle for a first strike operation or the first line of defense against vehicles. A valuable asset indeed.

Guardian-class APC

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_apc.jpg

These armored transports are one of the major keystones in the GDI military, and in the operations of its ground forces. Armed with a swivel, repeating railgun, it can take on most enemy infantry and lay waste to them while protecting those inside of it. It has open ports from which the soldiers inside, Rifleman, Rocket Infantry, Grenadiers, can open up with their weaponry as well and increase the offensive power of this vehicle. These, however, are not its only features. Guardians can deploy mines at critical locations and chokepoints, stuttering enemy movements and allowing for counterattacks and ambushes. A perfect weapon for the GDI infantry.

GDI Predator Tank

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_predator.jpg

This tank is the workhorse of the GDI military and it continues to serve as a vital part of the armored forces of the Global Defense Initiative. Armed with a powerful railgun and immensely thick armor with Tiberium lacing, this powerhouse can take on enemy vehicles with ease, and can cause great damage to structures and buildings with its railgun. Due to its lack of any anti-air capability, it requires support from other vehicles or infantry who can do so.

GDI Heavy Armor

Mammoth Tank

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_mammoth.jpg

The Mammoth tank is the symbol of GDI power and will; it's thick armor, laced with Tiberium, can withstand an immense pounding from all comers, and its twin railguns blast through infantry and vehicle alike. It has twin missile pods can unleash their Tiberium payloads to strike at their foes in the air. Although slow, they are so heavy, they can crush lighter tanks and vehicles under them. The ultimate engine of destruction in armored warfare, GDI's enemies tremble when they feel the treads of this mighty machine grinding towards them.

Juggernaut

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_jugger.jpg

This powerful and slow walker is the secondary artillery piece for the forces of the Galactic Defense Initiative. Armed with four railgun cannons, it can dish out long range death to anything; be it infantry, vehicles, or structures. When used in conjunction with the Sniper, who can sight targets for it, it is a deadly piece of equipment. It's slow movement and firing speed requires it to be supported by tanks and infantry. It has been slowly phased out in favor of more mobile and powerful Ion Mammoth.

Ion Mammoth Tank

The Mammoth Tank, already a beast in combat, has had a variant made to shift artillery focus away from mechs, with their obvious limitations, to the strengths of a tank. The twin railguns have been removed; instead, the Ion Mammoth Tanks deploys six Heavy Ion Cannons, which are able to fire quickly in a time frame of several seconds, covering a large area in no time flat. It has ridiculously long range, even in comparison to the Juggernaut and it does not require GDI snipers to scout out the target for itself. Currently, it has not even been put into full production yet, as it is undergoing top secret field testing. No one but the General, Director James and Director Granger know of its existence.

GDI Air Attack and Support

VTOL Orca

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_orca.jpg

Orca's are another key part of the GDI miltary and one thats has been around for as long as the Initiative has existed. Armed with air-to-surface bombs, the Orca is used as air and fire support for ground operations, and for air strikes against enemy installations and targets. With its use of the VTOL system, it can be easily deployed almost anywhere and is perfect scouting out unknown airspaces. They have sensor pods that allow them to detect stealth systems such as the ones that Nod use.

Firehawk

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_firehawk.jpg

This all-purpose fighter-bomber is the main weapon of the GDI airforce, able to take on air and ground targets. When used to patrol the skies against all comers, they are armed with Rattlesnake missiles, that are perfect for aerial dogfights and are air-to-air missiles. When deployed for ground strikes and bombing campaigns, they utilize Hellcat Firebombs that unleash napalm outward from the explosion. Equipped with stratosphere boosters, they can go into low orbit and return, allowing them to strike without warning and bypass air defenses.

V-35 Ox

http://www.cncden.com/cnc3_gdiunits_new/gdi_vtol.jpg

This aircraft is the non-combat workhorse of the GDI Airforce. Working tirelessly to transport, men, vehicles, and supplies from base to base, they risk their lives in getting the job done. Their VTOL allows them to be deployed anywhere, much like the Orca. It can transport everything but the Rig, MCV, and Mammoth Vehicles.

Ship Classes of the Galactic Defense Initiative

These ships are massive, powerful and can dish out lots of damage with their weapons. All of them are able to deploy waves of drop pods that deploy their bases, armor, supplies, aircraft, and soldiers. Using no craft in space aside from capital ships, the GDI had other ways to deploy. This allowed them to be more mobile and allow for fast set up.

Titan-class Superdreadnaught

The GDIS Eagle is the culmination of twelve years of tech research by top GDI scientists and intense study of Scrin technology retrieved from the ruins of Scrin bases and the destroyed towers, as well as the data garnered from the Scrin tower the Brotherhood saved and opened shortly before vanishing along with Kane. A massive ship, it makes the already large and cumbersome Cruisers and Destroyers look like mere toys compared to it, both in size and power, being an immense 23 kilometers in size. It is immensely slow and almost impossible to turn quickly to avoid damage at medium to close range. However, it was designed to take such punishment and can dish said punishment out countless times over. It can take on multiple fleets and still come out on top, if commanded correctly. It is literally covered with railgun batteries almost as if they are a second skin and the missile batteries are so numerous, they could shoot out missiles and count them as fighters. Along with the Ion Blasters that are docked onto the roof, belly, sides and front of the ship allow for it to blast most enemy capital ships into bits of broken metal and energy. It can also fight off waves of fighters and bombers with its missile and Ion Repeater point defense network all over the ship.

Unknown to all but the GDI High Command, it also can deploy an Ion Cannon, the exact shape and strength of the ones deployed over Terra Prime, to use against enemies in a desperate situation, or to use against a planet. It can be enhanced with Tiberium to be turned into a planet-killing weapon.

Predator-class Dreadnaught

The personal escort ships of the Eagle, they are also used to protect Terra Prime, Mars and the Sol system. They are not as immense in size as the Eagle but in comparison of the mass-producable ships the Initiative has, it is the largest ship in the fleet, a large eight kilometers. Armed with Ion Blasters, missile and railgun arrays, they can put down almost any enemy ship in single combat and can hold off a fleet of ships by itself. Armed with the same point defense system as the Eagle, they don't have to worry about fighters or bombers that much.

Panther-class Battlecruiser

Grizzly-class Destroyers

These ships are a huge step down from the Predator and Titan class ships. Although they do not mass even close to what those ships do, they are still large compared to most ships, and are even larger than Imperial Star Destroyers. They have several railgun batteries and missile arrays, mostly concentrated in the places the Ion Blasters do not cover, the front and back portions of the sides, rear, roof, and the two sides of the front. Their point defense is still sufficient to make attacking them with fighters and/or bombers pointless. They are commonly seen patrolling the edges of GDI space, alongside Peregrine-class Cruisers.

Hades-class Heavy Cruiser

Peregrine-class Cruisers

The lightest ship in the GDI arsenal, these ships are more on par with Heavy Cruisers/Carriers than Cruisers but in the GDI classification system, they are Cruisers. They are the scouting and patrol craft used by the Initiative to keep their space safe, see what is beyond their borders, and watch for any appearances of the Scrin. A good and sturdy ship, it is a vital part of the GDI fleet.

Falcon-class Light Cruisers

Methods for Faster Than Light Travel

GDI

The Galactic Defense Initiative, after studying gravitic anomalies, black holes, and gravity itself, they have been able to find a way to move across the stars with ease and agility. By the use of what is known as "Tanhausser Gates", named after their creator, Professor Wilhelm Tanhausser, Global Defense Initiative ships use a positronic laser to open a gateway to their destination by using a gravitic anomaly at the edges of space to fold space and create two sets of portals that appear at point A, where they are, and point B, where they want to go. Entering these gateways, they appearing instantaneously, allowing them go across entire galaxies in the span of a couple seconds. Their unique nature and use of gravitic anomalies prevents any Faster Than Light inhibitors from blocking the process.

Artificial Intelligence

GDI use A.I. systems to aid their commanders in battle; notifying them of enemy arrival and attacks, giving them battle updates and giving the commanders field briefings on their objectives. GDI uses EVA's, A.I's ranging from the first Tiberium War. Each commander has an EVA assigned to him and there are multiple EVA's in service.

SkySentry

The spy satellite network of the Galactic Defense Initiative during the Third Tiberium War, it was used to monitor the world, track Nod and Scrin movements and feed information on GDI bases, resources and soldiers. During the twelve years of space expansion, the GDI Navy has been able to seed tiny probes all over the system, allowing it to constantly monitor their space, watching for unwanted visitors or invasions. The probes constantly move, allowing the GDI to confuse the enemy on their positions and prevent a single section from being taken out for longer than ten minutes.
