In the Southwestern corner of the Totalitarian State of Red Tide, lay the province of Korev. The province held only one major city and was a huge agriculture center, the second of the top five povinces that produce grain in the DSRT. It was also the province with the largest minority of what the Red Tideans called the 'Forgotten'. With 48.32% of the population of Korev was made up of the Forgotten.

The were the original inhabitants of this section of Elysia, before the Russian Empire decided to colonise it. The population had mostly either been wiped out or forced to intergrate with Russian civilization by first the Russian Empire, then the Soviet Union, and now Red Tide. Of course, this was about to blow up in Red Tides face.

All over the province, a massive revolt bloomed into being, despite the presence of two major naval ports, there were only four army bases in Korev, which were quickly overrun by the rebels. The personnel of these bases, in typical Red Tidean Military fashion, fought to the death down to every last man. By the next day, the province declared itself independent.

OOC: The PRK has a population of about two hundred million. About which 53% support the uprising, another 36% dont care either which way, and the rest are against it. The PRK intends to establish a socialist democratic goverment. The Red Tide Goverment does not want this to happen and is mobilising significant forces to destroy it.

Most Red Tidean Military and Intellegince-Commissarat assets in Korev have been overrun, but there are some holdouts, waiting for reinforcements. There were nuclear, chemical, biological, and naval assets based in Korev, but these were destroyed by the Red Tidean Military before they could be overrun. The PRK are armed mostly with 70s-era Russian equipment and a little modern Red Tidean Military equipment.

Please no nukes or biological weapons allowed without my say-so, chemical weapons are allowed.

The Red Tidean Army was assembling, preparing to bring massive firepower to bear against what the government was calling a 'Illegitimate Uprising Instigated by Bolshevik Rebels'. Three entire army groups, each one with 1.1 million combat personnel, were assembling. Such a massive movement of troops could not be missed by foreign governments. Fortunaly, the TSRT was not worried about foreign governments.

The People's Republic of Korev had little to no aircraft, and even fewer naval vessels. The Red Tide Navy was putting four Carrier Battlegroups and two Dreadnought Battlegroups were sortieing in order to erect a iron blockade around the PRK.

The Emperor met with officials, recently new intelligence officials who had received updates from field officers. The intelligence that they brought was a shock.

"Are you suggesting that these communists are also supporting the anarchists in our own state?" the Emperor asked.

A silent nod confirmed the fact. Communists from the recently declared sovereign state of Korelia were also sponsoring anarchist activities in the Empire. And only the Heavens knew if they were doing the same in other countries. The Emperor read over the details carefully. Even as the country was in roars over the recent football craze (NSWC36), the threats from foreigners remained high and it would not leave him a moment's rest. He sighed as he reached in his desk for the Imperial Seal. The original golden seal was kept away in the Archives, on display at the Imperial Museum farther downtown. This seal was made of chrome steel, and it was in effect the Emperor's signature. He wrote a hasty letter and pressed the seal upon the ink pad, cementing his commitment to his word.

He turned to his envoys and ordered them immediately: "Take this to Red Tide, and have it delivered to the Sovereign Leader of that State. I have no idea what qualms these people have against their own government, but so long as they illicitly and surreptitiously support our own anarchists, they will have no haven in my house."

"Yes, your Majesty."

The Emperor turned to his desk and asked the last envoy of the specific details of the intelligence operation: "Were the anarchists dissembled?"

"Your Imperial Majesty, the radicals were taken by police and with sufficient evidence, charged with subversion and treason. All but one plead guilty to their crimes and were publicly flogged in Shingang Province before being commuted to serve 100 days in public service. The last one awaits the courts to sentence him to death."

"Have the last one brought to me," the Emperor replied. The envoy was a little surprised to hear this, but knowing the way the Emperor ruled, it was a surprise not to expect any surprises from him, his homily and personal rule over the people of the Empire. The envoy bowed and replied, "It is as you wish, your Majesty."

TO SOVEREIGN STATE OF RED TIDE:

My intelligence operatives have received word that the communists in Korellia have been financing and supporting actions of anarchists in Shingang Province, a sovereign domain of the Han Empire. No doubt of their intentions, but while I am normally inclined to support the people oppressed, it is apparent to me that these people are in fact subversive and need to be punished. We will support your actions in restoring Red Tide sovereign protection over this territory, although I cannot afford to do so overtly. If permissible, I can send covert teams into Korelia to help crack the state from within as your own armed forces crush them from outside.

General-Secretary of the Totalitarian State of Red Tide Basvorich Ivanov Narmonov was, at the current time, not in a happy mood. Although preperations for the anti-rebellion offensive were going as well as possible, that didnt mean that bad news was not coming.

The uprising had taken away a good portion of Red Tides best agricultural farms, it meant that Red Tide would need to temporarily stop food exports. Even worse was the fact that the Bolshevik rebels who were not in Korelia had taken spirit at news of the uprising. Bombings and propaganda efforts had gone up outside the big cities. The Intellegince-Commissarat had dealt with them effectively, but it still left Narmonov concerned.

Then his intercom buzzed.

"Sir," Narmonov's Secretary said, "The Foreign Minister is here to see you, says its urgent."

Narmonov stared at the intercom for a moment before pushing the reply button: "Send him in."

Vyachselav Gromkyo, Foreign Minister of the Totalitarian State, walked into the room without a whiff of expression on his face. He had learned that to survive this high up in the Red Tidean Government, you had to show not a whiff of expression.

"The Han Empire contacted us..." Gromkyo said, getting down to buisness after the usual exchange of greetings and formalities. "Here is a copy of the message."

Narmonov picked it up and read it, re-read it, and then smiled.

He said, "It worries me that the Bolsheviks have contacts outside of Red Tide, but this is a remarkably good thing. We should allow them to send their special forces. Is that all?"

Gromkyo's face remained expresionless, "Yes sir... thats it." He said.

"Thank you for bringing this to me... now if you dont mind." Narmonov made a motion to the door.

"I understand, General-Secretary." Gromkyo got up and left.

Narmonov was suddenly in a good mood.

Christine Mirani, Third Speaker of Pisces Meridian, lit up a cigarette. Usually, she didn't smoke in work, but for this situation, she thought it would be necessary.

Another communist uprising. While she had no illusions in thinking that any rebels would make a better state than that they were attempting to depose, she did still have a soft spot for revolutionaries in general. While communism itself was not popular in Pisces Meridian, socialist ideology in general was an influential part in their politics.

Neatly, she typed a communication to the government in power, asking exactly what the situation was in the area and why the revolution was occuring. She would later do the same for the rebels.

From The Liberal Democratic Nation of Pisces Meridian (Department 3, Foreign Office)

We have been informed of your recent struggle with insurgency. We would ask exactly what brought on this rebellion, as our nation does not have an embassy in your country and therefore our profile of your nation is incomplete. Should we be satisfied that the rebellion is unjustly motivated, we shall grant some aid to your nation in quashing this uprising.

Yours faithfully,

Christine Mirani,

To the People's Republic of Korev,

We received your cut off communique and are interested in the motivations of your uprising. If you could provide us with some information, we might be persuaded to supply arms, medical supplies and refugee camps for any citizens who might need them.

Yours faithfully,

Christine Mirani,

She sighed. After she had received both replies, then her real job began: sorting out who was lying and what their real motives were. Sometimes she wished she'd stuck with her teaching job.

The Worker's Report

WAR DECLARED!

Good evening, comrades. I'm Sasha Bravaden and this is your news tonight. A joint session from the House of Deputies and the Senate met with the Chancellor today in an emergency session. The past few weeks saw a rise in tensions between the GUSN and British Londinium over their brutal campaign in Cazelia and numerous human rights violations. THe government has been hard at work to sort out the situation. Luckily, war was narrowly avoided and a peace conference is moving along.

During this session, the Chancellor discussed another issue of great importance. Red Tide2, a totalitarian nation has been known for frequent human rights violations as well as their brutal oppression of any political opponents within their own nations. Rumors of forced labor camps and executions of civilians are not uncommon. Recently, the province of Korev with the largest concentration of a monority group known as "The Forgotten". A mass revolt occurred. Military and security forces within the province were quickly overrun and the People's Republic of Korev declared by rebel leaders. Red Tidean2 forces are mounting for an offensive to suppress the rebellion in which the Chancellor was quatoed to have said "Will be a sweep of death and destruction, targeting everyone and everything". Chancellor Rhinehardt asked The General Assembly to send aide and support Korev in their bid for independence from the brutal regime of Red Tide2. The vote carried with high numbers. Once again, Kulikovian men and women are called upon by their country to fight for the oppressed proletariats of the world.

"Comrades." He addressed the crowd.
"These rebels are in fact, fighting for freedom... But, we should
not be getting involved... For one simple reason. Red Tide."

The Comandante of Haightia (an island of Jimanistan) quickly
asked, "And what does that mean, comrade?"

"Simple," the man replied. "We are hopelessly overmatched by Red
Tide's military. If our aid caused them to retaliate, we would be in
quite a bit of trouble."

"Ah..." cut in Chairman Demostratskiy. ""You have forgotten one
thing comrade... Population. It is the one asset that we have always
had... With a few million assault rifles from the Socialist weapons trade
we could steamroll right over Red Tide... But I pray it does not come to
that............. Now, the Council is dismissed for voting..."

--Castle Avisronia, Prime Ministers Residence--

Prime Minister David Wallace had a fairly routine morning schedule. He'd wake up around 9 a.m., watch his favorite morning show for 30 minutes while still in bed, then get breakfast and finish watching from his breakfast nook. After this he'd get better dressed and have his morning briefing. Then he'd exercise for a bit and prepare for his day.

The usual morning briefing was fairly short. There was a lot going on in the Libertarian Federation, but not much to report on on a daily basis. Occasionally there was a morning full of opportunity. Places and conflicts in the world that Wallace could throw resources at and hope to get a return on his investment.

This morning was one of those mornings. His top adviser had received a message in the night from an Avisronian Central Intelligence Division guru who had an idea about a new way to oppose British Londinium. Most in the Avisronian government knew of the hate the Prime Minister had for British Londinium's foreign policy.

"Essentially, you have an amazing opportunity here," the adviser started. "The Red Tidean government is going to need food, given that their agricultural center just went apeshit on them. We have a large food surplus. So what we can do is sell food to the Red Tidean government and then invest the money from that into funding some... assets, for the rebels."

Most in the Avisronian government also knew of the Prime Ministers love of creating plans like this himself. After a few moments of looking into his tea, he looked up at the adviser and responded.

"Get that guy some kind of award. Put this plan into effect. Now."

With that simple statement, the adviser rose and exited the room.

Transmission ceased...

The rebel tranmission had ceased because Red Tidean forces had triangulated the radio transmitter and then hit it with a squadron of H/K-1 Surface Attack Aircraft.

Red Tidean/Korev claimed border... a few minutes later

The Red Tidean offensive opened with the tact, subterfuge, and subtility that they were famous for... that is, the same as a sledgehammer in a glass shop.

A massive artillery bombardment, with rockets and regular gun artillery numbering over 49,000 pieces-self propelled and towed, let loose a massive barrage on Rebel positions. The pounding continued, the few PRK artillery guns were quickly silenced by counterbattery fire which continued well after the positions had fallen silent.

This continued for about four hours, then the guns fell silent. No sooner had they done so then did over 7,000 MBT-66 'Hydra' main battle tanks and 7,000 APC-45 Armored Personnel Carrier engines roared to life all across the border. From the rebel positions, looking north, it looked as if a wall of armor was advancing towards them.

PRK T-72 tanks, purchased off the black market, were quickly annihilated by the Hydras superior 122mm ETC guns. Anti-Tank Guided Missiles were defeated via Active Protection Systems and reactive armor, the few mortar positions that opened up were annihilated by massive counterbattery actions. It took all of 30 minutes before a huge, 50 kilometer wide hole was ripped open by a force of 600 tanks and twice that many armored personnel carriers about 10 kilometers North of the little village 'Perostok'. That gap would continue to widen throughout the day. Following them were Motor-Infantry Divisions to cover the flanks.

The PRK commanders sent in their reserves, consisting of 190 T-72 Main Battle Tanks... although these had little to no hope of success against the massed Red Tidean mechanized fist that was pretty much annihilating everything in its path.

City of Pripock

The City of Pripock was one of approximately 100,000 people about 120 kilometers away from the PRK/TSRT Border. The majority supported the PRK rebellions, with small minority supporting the TSRT... these people had been ostracized but otherwise ignored.

It was here that 300 H/K-1 Surface Attack Aircraft released their bombs, 6 from each aircraft. These bombs were filled with lethal VX Nerve Gas. Instead of exploding, the bombs simply fell apart at about five meters above the ground.

It took a whole of four minutes before the unprotected civilians took upwards of 70,000 dead, with the rest either severely wounded or dying.

A force of select Hwarang Weol {HRW} agents were boarded on a Han aircraft. After the Han Foreign Ministry received the message from the Red Tide General Secretary, the Hwarang Commissioners had set about their task to find the most stealthy, most efficient, and most destructive group of Hwarang knights for insertion into the People's Republic of Korelia. A final review had confirmed 24 agents for insertion, and then released them for immediate deployment. After receiving adequate fuel and supplies for the journey, they set for Red Tide airspace. Setting their path to fly over Korelian airspace, they broadcast the message on the pre-determined radio frequency: "사월 - 오월 - 육월" (translation: 'April - May - June'). They awaited confirmation from the Red Tide forces to continue into Korelian airspace.

SIC Hangyeong

In the Emperor's quarters, while the rest of the Imperial Family was returninig from The Lowland Clans, the top officials from the Hwarang met with the Emperor, to discuss ways to combat this threat. There was the general concern that the rebels did have genuine complaints against the totalitarian state, but the facts reminded them of the crucial mission requirement - these rebels, whatever their complaints, threatened the Han state by supporting anarchists; hence, the Han could not tolerate their complaints, however legitimate, because the rebels had already conspired against the Han Imperial Government.

But how could this have happened? Until recently, neither Red Tide nor Han citizens had met one another. Perhaps this was the result of confirming official recognition of the states. If so, these rebels had been planning their operations for a very short time, and apparently the links that they had cultivated in that short time were ill-prepared against Imperial checks against subversion. Still, what reason brought the Korelian rebels to conspire against Han?

"If we did not recognize Red Tide, would we still have their rebels in our country?" the Emperor asked.

"Our sources suggest not," replied Count Yu Seongryong. He was the official head of the Hwarang Weol, the official Imperial Intelligence Agency. He had once before helped in covert operations involving the Han, and to great success as well. He rose to his feet, by the leave of the Emperor's grace, and handed out a report from his agents. "This is the compilation of reports from dozens of our agents working abroad. They have all reported that there is some global conspiracy at play, involving communists, anarchists, and fascists alike. There seems to be an underground unit, aimed at destroying the fabric of civilization and let loose a violent revolution that will overturn the world. How they coordinate these efforts is unknown at the moment, but after reading these reports, the uniform nature of these radical groups has convinced me that the rebels in Korelia - while perhaps conveying genuine and legitimate complaints against the Red Tide Government - are nonetheless using popular opinions to start a global revolution with the sole purpose of eradicating government and civil order. Of course, the Red Tide armed forces were caught unprepared - nothing like this has been even attempted in the past 50 years. But I also have reason to believe that these radicals started their campaign too early. Indeed, the war against anarchy has begun, and if we engage with the Red Tide government, we will be at the forefront of this new war. We must wary still, because they have support from larger governments, ironically, I might consider."

"These rebels are therefore not communists, but anarchists?" the Emperor asked.

The Count shook his head. "I cannot say for certain, but I believe that these radicals are not anarchists. Nonetheless, the tenants for global revolution and the destruction of the existing civil order are similar to the radical anarchists, but their intent is to shatter the world order for reconstruction. The fascists aim for the same global revolution, if only to restore the old and glorious ways. And the anarchists - our old enemy - they only seek the destruction of order, period."

"What current efforts are being made to ensure that the global revolution does not spread to other countries, especially our own?"

"We have increased security patrols in revolt-prone provinces, and our local intelligence community has heightened its attention to anarchists and their accords. As for other countries, I cannot guarantee it, although I believe the disillusioned communists in Kulikovia have already declared war upon Red Tide in support of the anarchic communists. I can only guess that the anarchists were seeking to bring war to Kulilkovia and have the Red Tide armed forces smash them, instilling a new state of anarchy there. But I don't have much intelligence from Kulikovia, only the popular waves of information from my agents."

The Emperor stroked his head, throbbing from the pains of having to run this government from hidden perils. Count Yu stood still, glad that his report was satisfactory and understood. It wasn't the most pleasant job to convey the bad news to the Emperor, but Count Yu had a knack after two other revolutions to tell it in a straight manner.

"May it please His Imperial Majesty, we have sent the plane fielding our special operatives to Red Tide," Count Pak Dujin said. "Once we receive final confirmation from the Red Tide armed forces, we will begin the disintegration of Korelian resistance forces and make the way to restoring order there."

The Emperor, at least satisfied with the last report, nodded. "Very well. You are dismissed for now, but I do anticipate to have an update in the next 24 hours on our progress there." The Hwarang Masters each exited the quarters, leaving the Emperor to ponder the fate of his lands, and moreover the fate of the world against the rising threat of anarchy.

The pilot announced their entrance into Korevian airspace. They were settled high in the atmosphere, to evade any potential missiles from the Korevians, although even this craft wouldn't avoid them all. However, with any luck, the Korelians wouldn't know what to think as the radio continued to broadcast its call - "사월 - 오월 - 육월". There was only one possibility that entered the Korevians' mind.
-"Is it an SOS call from a ship from another country?"
-"I don't know. We should investigate!"

The 24 men quickly debarked from the plane and fell down, parachuting safely to the ground. They were all lightly armed and equipped with enough provisions to last them until they reconnoitered with Korevian insurgents. They also had NBC equipment, to protect themselves from any possible chemical attacks from the Korevians. And as they assembled their equipment, they also waited. For certain, they were detectable on radar in their descent, and they would be coming to investigate. Indeed, the "SOS" call had piqued the Korevians' interest, and two trucks came as dusk settled. Commander An Gildong {(안길동) 安吉童} has set the team in a perimeter, watching the recovery crew survey the area. A scout counts their number - 40, including the drivers. Snipers on the ground and in the trees aim at the officers, waiting for the order to fire.

After five minutes of the search, the Hwarang team leads a horrific yell, disorienting the recovery crew. The silenced shots of their GGGDJ-05 SMG ring through the air as the snipers pick out their prey. In a matter of seconds, the entire crew is dead or dying. The scouts survey the area, killing anyone who isn't dead and assembling the bodies for counting. Those that can afford to be brought are put onto the trucks. They also take the weapons from the dead Korevians before leaving little evidence of their existence and head to the camp from which the truck originated.

The camp was in fact a radar station, at the edge of the forested hills before laying out into the wide open plains of Korev. The station was one of those built from scratch by the Korelians, with the looming threat of a Red Tide invasion. The team consulted with each other, before agreeing - destroying the radar outpost would aid the war effort and provide temporary shelter for the men before they went out into the city.

They divided into two groups, a holding group and a storming group. The snipers from the holding group would draw fire from the camp while the storming group would ram their trucks through and take out the interior guards. Preliminary counts had the enemy numbers at around 60 men, along with 15 specialists. Commander An waited for the opportune moment to strike, and at his command, the snipers unleashed a lethal barrage, killing the three guards outside the camp and disabling the security lights. In that instant, the Korevians began to unleash their fire. The holding group signaled to the storming group, and the two trucks came quickly through, unhindered by the distracted guards. Grenades popped and the scene quickly turned into a rout. The snipers picked out those who fled the scene while the storming group held firmly against the guards. The battle lasted for 6 minutes or so, and by that time, it was safe for the holding group to come out. Commander An surveyed the field and his casualties - one sole injury to a shard, thrown by a grenade explosion. Otherwise, they were all fine. Of the 60 soldiers in the garrison, 55 were dead, 1 was injured, and 4 escaped. All 15 specialists were held captive. Deciding that the enemy couldn't be allowed any knowledge of an invasion in this field, Commander An ordered a group of 6 Hwarang soldiers to seek out the escaping soldiers and bring them back, dead or alive.

He then turned his attention to the one Korevian soldier - injured as he was. "Who are you?" he asked, in plain English - the only foreign language An knew. The soldier seemed not to understand him, so An pulled out his pistol and aimed it at the soldier's head. He began to speak wildly in a foreign tongue, so feverishly that An felt that he could get some information from him. He turned to the specialists and asked them in plain English: "Who can speak English or Haneo (ooc: Korean)?" One man rose his hand, and An immediately brought him to the soldier. An told the specialist - "Ask him his name and rank." The specialist complied and replied - "He says he's not a soldier, he was forced to join the Korevian Soviet two days ago and was sent here. He doesn't want to die."

Satisfied with the answer but not the fact, he let the specialist return to his station and sat the captive soldier on a chair. He turned to the other Hwarang knights, who promptly disarmed the soldier and secured him from further harm; the rest of the camp was set for use when the attack convoy returned from their work. All four of the soldiers were captured, although 2 were dead now. It didn't matter - "Put them with the other soldier, and make sure that they can't do anything."

It was well past midnight when the camp was safe for the Hwarang operatives to sleep. Commander An nonetheless met with his fellow subordinates, as they made preparations for the next day. "How do we go about this business? We can't leave this camp, because either these pricks will rat on us, or they'll recapture it."

Commander An remained confident and gave a calm solution to their quandary: "We control this station. We'll turn it over to the Red Tide forces, who can probably put it to good use in their coming invasion."

"How will we let them know that it's us and not one of the Korevians?"

"Broadcast the message: '사월 - 오월 - 육월'. The Red Tide Armed Forces will know what that means, and likely they'll come over and seize the station. We'll turn over our prisoners for interrogation, and probably we can freshen our attack against the Korelians tomorrow." They all agreed with the plan, and immediately told the specialists to broadcast the message on a special radio frequnecy. And then they waited.

OOC: Just as I made an error, you made one too. Its actually Korevian, not Korelian. I admit, in one post I did refer to them as Korelia by accident.

Oh, and BTW: Red Tideans predominantly know Russian, the Forgotten speak their own language, but the vast majority know Russian very well. A result of Red Tidean assimilation attempts.

IC:RADAR Site, 140 kilometers from PRK/TSRT Border, about 10 kilometers from the coast

The RADAR station was a rather crude one, even so... it would have been destroyed by Red Tidean HARMs had it not been turned off and kept off. The RADIO still worked fine though.

The other unfortunate thing is that the message 'April-May-June' was simply the way to get the plane in and out of Red Tide. Past that... well...

"Why are they still broadcasting that? They'll bring the Bolsheviks right down on them!" The Admiral of the 4th Dreadnought Battlegroup said.

There was a moments silence, then only the Captain of the SDN-04 replied.

"Sir, at least our pilots will know not to bomb that location." The Captain said.

There was a pause as they considered this, then the Admiral said, "WE are going to want to boot this up the chain of command, real quick. And launch a ASSASSIN* UAV to loiter over the place where that message is coming from. I dont want to walk into a trap.

Northern Red FLeet

The Kulikovian Navy underwent dramatic reconstruction and reorganization in recent years, along with the rest of the military. Most of the surface fleet were remnants from the fascist regime and were aging hulks of metal. Defense Minister Brozny called for a modernization campaign of the military in the mid ninties under Chancellor Dantes. The defense budget multiplied greatly and allowed for this modernization to occur. Foreign and domestic contractos were tasked for basically rebuilding the KPAF from the ground up. Uniforms, weapons, equipment, armor, vehicles, everything for the most part. It took over a decade but the end result justified the trillions of Kulkas spent over that time period. The New KPAF was stronger, more disciplined, and better equipped and trained then the Revolutionary Forces from the war. Several years ago; however, the Kulikovian fleet did battle on the high seas outside Hataria against a coalition of nations. The 5th Red Fleet was nearly wiped out, embarrassing Kulikovian military leaders and the nation, forcing Kulikovia's withdrawl from the war. Now, the KPAF is called upon once again to defend Socialist causes around the world in open war.

Admiral Konig, a veteran sailor of the Naval Forces and respected commander stepped into the bridge of his flagship KNS Yastreb, a Neutrashimy Class Frigate. The Northern Red Fleet composed of:
5 Sovremenny class destroyers
5 Slava class cruisers
6 Udaloy class Destroyers
3 TAVKR aircraft carriers
2 Typhoon CLass submarines
8 Akula Class submarines
Numerous support vessels

The KPAF have not fought a campaign in five years but trained relentlessly and efficently. With the fleet was over 50,000 soldiers of the Revolitionary Guard. They waited eagerly in the transport ships, ready for war. Kulikovian aircraft screamed overhead for cover while the submarines patroled around the fleet, serving as early warning against any agressors. The aging admiral stroked his white beard, knowing that a brutal fight lay ahead. It was only a matter of time before Kulikovia clashed with Red Tide2.

The President put on his reading glasses and studied the report placed upon his desk.

"Civil revolt in... Red Tide? Damn."

"I thought that might interest you, sir."

The President continued to read, stopping short a few sentences in.

"Kulikovia is mobilising on their own? What the hell are they playing at? There are several Red Tidean dreadnoughts blockading Korev, if your intel is to be believed, for god's sake... ugh, VX? Thousands of civilians dead? Lovely. Well, it is Red Tide."

"Indeed. The Supreme Command..."

"Yes, yes. Summon them right away."

Twenty minutes later the Minister of Defence, the Chancellor and the Air Marshal were sitting in the President's office, with two videoconferencing links set up for the Grand Admiral and Field Marshal.

"Gentlemen, as you've probably heard, there is a slight problem in Red Tide. Kindly read the report in front of you. Now, what do you propose we do about it? I don't intend to let Kulikovia face the TSRT on its own."

"A noble sentiment, Mr President," said the grainy image of Grand Admiral McIver on a large plasma screen, "but we are not exactly equipped for a campaign against Red Tide either, with two of our three dreadnoughts on foreign station. A full mobilisation would give us perhaps one fleet group, minus a dreadnought flagship, of course, and this may not be enough."

"As well as the deployment of the Army in Generia. We do have the troops to fight Red Tide, but it would be very nasty indeed, especially with so many nations expressing their support for totalitarianism," was the contemptuous pronouncement of the equally grainy image of Field Marshal Bennett.

"So, what can we do, exactly?"

"We can't hope to fight a conventional war with Red Tide on Red Tidean- well, Korevian, so foreign- soil. Perhaps an aerial campaign, with a medium deployment of light troops which can be rapidly evacuated if need be," said the Defence Minister. "We have the first of the new Aequatian submarines arriving. I suggest we mobilise a small force of attack and ballistic missile subs off the coast, maybe some of the submarine carriers too, and send them to keep watch on the Red Tidean battle fleets. Not to engage, mind you, but they probably will eventually, when the Kulikovians arrive. When this becomes a conventional shooting war, we send aircraft, long-range ones, to Korev to support them, as well as a deployment of a few airborne divisions."

"Yes, that could be arranged. If everything goes pear-shaped, we can withdraw and sign a mutual ceasefire, or force Red Tide to fight us on our own terms if they hold a grudge. I'll prepare to put a declaration of war if we need it before Parliament. Minister, I'll leave you to work out the details with the Chiefs of Staff. Good luck."

Off the Korevian coast

The four Phantom-class Hunter-killer submarines moved silently beneath the waves, at a safe distance from the Red Tidean ships. They split up and began patrolling solo along the length of the blockade, reporting any movements to the small submarine force sitting off in international waters, consisting of six Dolphin-class attack submarines and two Espandor and Ocean II ballistic and guided-missile boats. One Poseidon-class submarine carrier was also present, with a hundred Su-47, A-7 and F-19 aircraft aboard. Not an awfully large force against two dreadnought battle groups, but if the Kulikovians arrived, perhaps a surprise strike in the right place would make the difference. For now, the Hamilayan Task Force Eight continued to watch and wait.

OOC: Heh. It's funny cause I'm screwed. Ah well. Kulikovia, out of curiosity, why is your flagship a frigate?

FG-98, Sixth Dreadnought Battlegroup

"Conn SONAR..." The SONAR man suddenly said.

Red Tidean frigate commanders were Lieutenant-Commanders. This was the lowest rank in the TSRT Navy that was not subject to being placed under the influence of a Hallucagenic Control Collar.

Lieutenant-Commander Maserov had been bored this entire time. Sure, there had been a couple of interesting moments when they blew up a rebel PT boat with their 105mm main gun, but that was it. Suddenly he was alert.

"We have multiple unidentified contacts... bearing 2-8-4, 2-8-1, and 2-7-7. They're just outside our waters sir. Very weak due to the distance. Cant get a ID." The SONAR man went on.

Maserov considered his options. He could ignore it at the risk of it being a actual foreign submarine, or he could contact the nearby destroyer and have it send out a helicopter to investigate.

The latter seemed a much better option for all too obvious reasons.

Instead of sending it via RADIO, he had the signals man morse code the message over via the big signal light.

SDN-04, 4th Dreadnought Battlegroup

"Sir," The RADAR man operating the powerful Over-the-Horizon RADAR system said, "We have a Kulikovian fleet 2,000 kilometers out. Suggest contacting Naval Aviation Command..."

The Admiral considered it, then he turned to the RADIO officer, "Send the following message to HQ..."

A airbase in Red Tide, a few hours later

The regiment of NIA-04 Long Range Naval Interdiction Aircraft roared down the runway and into the air. The fifty aircraft were going to join another 550 of their brethren. Slung under each wing was a CM-3 Anti-Ship Missile, there was another one in the bomb bay. They were heading to annihilate the Kulikovian fleet.

The revolution in Red Tide did not go unnoticed in Vetalia, and they drafted plans accordingly to take advantage of the situation. Memories of the country's embarrassing military losses against their fleet had not been forgotten, and the country scouted eagerly for opportunities to eke out revenge, however small it was. The revolution would serve nicely in that regard.

To this end, the Proconsul along with the Praetor and other high officials drafted a plan to tip the balance in favor of the rebels. It was simple:

First, the country would send in agents to meet with the rebels, smuggled either via transport ships or through Vetalian businesses operating in the country. From there, they would meet with the rebels and begin detailing what aid was needed and where. After that, they would begin supplying them with needed supplies and start sending in military advisers and propagandists to aid them in their war. Contacts in the Vetalian mafia would be used to conduct assassination and terrorist attacks where possible, and if necessary the military would intervene to tip the balance once and for all. It was a simple plan rooted in the country's own history; the Vetalian rebels that had overthrown the Empire had operated in a similar manner, and it had worked.

All they needed was to get in to the country and things would start rolling...

Off the Korevian coast

After a few uneventful hours, it looked to Rear-Admiral Holland like something was happening, due to alarms sounding and the submarine carrier Silent Dawn's crew bursting into activity, as much as you could in the cramped confines of the vessel anyway.

"Captain, what's going on?"

"Sir, Requiem informs us there is an aircraft inbound. One, unidentified, from the Red Tidean lines. We're also picking up multiple larger airborne contacts, although it doesn't look like they're coming at us. A hell of a lot of them. Your orders?"

"The Kulikovian fleet is on their way. Looks like that's what they might be going for," Holland said, half to himself. Behind his brown eyes his mind was racing. Several hundred naval attack aircraft kills- the vast majority of them must be- would be a prize too good to pass up, both for him and his pilots.

"Sir?"

"Get me HighCom right now. Captain, tell your pilots and crew to be ready to launch. Don't bother with the Wraiths. Just the F-19s and Berkuts, armed with air to air weapons. Recall the hunter-killer pickets to the rally point."

"Yes sir. Lieutenant! Get Command on the horn."

"Command, this is Holland, Tango Foxtrot Eight. Red Tide aircraft inbound. Permission to engage."

There was a long silence from the other end of the line.

"Permission granted, Admiral."

Holland had to restrain himself from rubbing his hands with glee. "Thank you, sir. All right, Captain, here's what we're going to do. As soon as that scout plane notices something's amiss, so if it comes within weapons range, or when the enemy aircraft come in range of the Kulikovians, whichever comes first, we execute. Surface and scramble all fighters. Send the first to pop that nosey bastard and the rest go straight for the attack formation. The planes hit and run and we get as far away as possible to regroup. Surprise is key here. Any problems with that?"

"No, sir! This is bridge to flight deck, all hands to battle stations. Repeat, all hands to battle stations. Prepare for surface and launch procedures within twenty minutes."

OOC: I am going to have to go to work soon.

600 kilometers The Kulikovian Fleet

The massive NIA-04 armada would not be going in alone, joining them were 19 EWACs(Electronic Warfare and Air Control). These planes were not only carried massively powerful RADARs and jammers, but also had the ability to fry the guidance system on missiles with a powerful electromagnetic beam.

Anyways, the CM-3 Cruise Missile had a range of 175 kilometers. The NIA-04s standard doctrine was to close to 230 kilometers, then spread out. Once that was done, the planes would close to 160 kilometers before releasing their missiles.

The Land Battle Inbetween TSRT and PRK forces

The PRK T-72s withdrew at mid-afternoon. They left behind them 168 destroyed T-72s burning, with another 9 stranded. The crews of those other nine tanks would later be executed as traitors by the Intellegince-Commissarat. The Red Tidean losses had been a few APC-45s destroyed and a Hydra disabled.

Up and down the PRK/Red Tidean border, the PRK lines disintergrated in the face of overwhelming Red Tidean firepower and numbers. The propaganda broadcasts over Red Tidean news speakers(very few people in Red Tide could afford a TV or RADIO) blared out the callings of 'A massive victory against the vile scurge of international Bolshivism'.

By the end of the day, the TSRT Army would have penetrated 47 kilometers into PRK territory... and they would be in a position to advance much, much further.

OOC2: Hamilay, do your Submersible Aircraft Carriers have to surface to launch their aircraft?

OOC: Okay.

The Petrovsk II was virtually identical to the thousands of other cargo ships that arrived and departed Red Tide every day. Its hulls were loaded with thousands of tons of various consumer goods and supplies from around the world and was for all intents and purposes a normal ship...with a single exception. Yuri Chernobaev, an agent from the Ministry of Foreign Intelligence, was that exception, and he was getting ready for entry in to the country.

His alibi was simple: he was in the country to conduct an audit of the Vetalian firm Vakar Shipping, a small firm primarily involved in transporting supplies of consumer durables to the country. Everything was taken care of: a falsified Vetalian passport, credentials with the Ministry of Finance, a government debit card with the standard 5,000 Solaris on its balance, and a wide variety of documents pertaining to the "audit". He had even taken courses in accounting in the event that questions were asked. He was ready...

The ship signaled its approach to the port, and he calmly gathered his materials. Within a short while the ship would be docked and he would be on his way to customs, and from there to Vakar Shipping.

Admiral Konig stopped infront of the radar position in the command bridge. The radar screens were clear of any contacts. Content, he moved around and watched the organized chaos which was the navy. Men and women worked relentlesly to ensure the ships remained combat ready. Outlining submarines coasted underneath the ocean waves, ready to detect any contacts. SU-27's screeched overhead, armed with ordanance. The KNS Yalta, a akula class submarine continued through the waters when the radar screens went off. The captian was notified who put the submarine on high alert. Within minutes, Admiral Konig set down the phone, fully informed on enemy air contacts. He ordered the fighters into the air, two wing groups to the west, sweeping in and ordered the submarines to ready their weapon systems.

IC:

CV-01, 1st Carrier Battlegroup

"So, the contacts are approaching our airspace... and they are apparently cargo aircraft with Jimanistan IFF?" The Vice-Admiral asked.

"Correct sir, they are also very primitive, C-47s... should we broadcast a warning?" The RADAR officer inquired.

"No, the High Command told us to regard them as hostile. Shoot them down." Was the reply.

Barely a minute later, a hoard of MDM-4 Surface-Air Missiles rose from the VLS tubes of the escorting Cruisers and Destroyers. They honed in on the C-47s, fully intent on blowing them out of the sky. There were two missiles per C-47, the WW2 aircraft would probably have no chance to escape.

City of Grogovich, the Commercial Docks

The city of Grogovich was typical of Red Tidean large, but none major, port cities. It was smoggy, it was bleak, and the only thing it had going for it was the fact that the Military was using its railyards alot right now, thanks to its proximity to the PRK.

It was here that the Vetalian Intellegince Agent would get off. The majority of the ships in the harbor were Tech-Com Corporation ships... the largest corporation in Red Tide. There were some foreign ships, mostly petroleum tankers, but a few freighters bringing in some electronics.

The crew was not permitted out of the dock area without inspection... so when the Foreign Intellegince Agent got around to telling the dock workers why he (supposedly) was here... the dock worker merely pointed towards the wall that surrounded the docking district and said(in decent English):

"Check with the Intellegince-Commissarat Checkpoint at the entrance/exit. They'll do the rest."

The Intellegince-Commissarat was Red Tides hybrid of a foreign intellegince service and secret police. They had a wide range of duties... including inspecting who and what came in and out of the docks of every port city.

SIC RADAR post in PRK

It was near dawn, and while the rest of the world was mobilizing for some great conflict, Commander An and his team were still without any support from Red Tide. Indeed, Red Tide forces were watching them, but without any way to confirm that Commander An's forces were allied, there was no way to confirm any entry to send troops on any mission.

It was obvious by the first light that Red Tide would not come, and instead, he made a last minute preparation. He had everyone woken from their sleep, and of the three remaining PRK soldiers alive, he had them lined up on the wall blindfolded. With his own soldiers watching and holding aim, Commander An told one of the specialists there to translate for him: "If you wish to live, you will abandon your anarchist dreams and fight for us. If you do not fight for us, we will have to kill you, because we cannot carry anyone as extra baggage. So you either fight with us, or die."

The translator was somewhat stirred as he gave the instructions to the soldiers. A moment silence fell upon them, as An looked at his watch. "I am going to count to three. If anyone else wants to help us, they must do so now or else my soldiers will execute you as criminal barbarians and anarchists. Your world will know nothing of your exploits when we are done, and it will be a miserable death. For us instead, it will be an honorable death, to make amends for the crimes of your old system. And if you fear the Red Tide people, if you join us, you become a citizen of Han, and thus answerable to me. Join us as brothers, or die here as criminals; it is your choice." The translator ran his Slavic speech to the soldiers as they gulped almost simultaneously. Losing patience, An began to count.

"하나! (one)"

"둘! (two)"

Just as An set to say three, all three soldiers kneeled down on their knees and begged out loudly. The translator said, "They don't want to die."

An nodded. "Of course they don't. Will they fight for us?"

The translator said, "They'd rather live than die. They said that they were forced to fight for the Korevian Soviet. They didn't want this to happen."

"Do I have their word of honor?" An asked back.

The translator shook his head. "They have no word of honor, they are forgotten men."

"Forgotten?" An said. "What does that mean?"

"They are minorities. Well, except in Korev. Most people from Red Tide are Russian, but these men are all... not Russian. Most of us call them 'forgotten' because no one remembers who they are."

"If they are men, they will have a word of honor," An said. He signaled to his compatriots, who immediately rushed to the men and removed their blindfold. With the sunlight nearly penetrating the area, An could see their faces for the first time. They were genuinely frightened, but as any commander knew, fear often hid darker secrets that would surface when the fear was gone. He brought the translator to his side, and said, "Have them swear to me on their honor as men, that they will stand by the Han, and that no matter they do, they will assist my men in our mission to end the threat of anarchists from the People's Republic of Korev. Let them know that if they ever broke this honor, I will personally castrate them and disembowel them with my blade, before severing their legs and arms to be sent to the four corners of Korev. And their heads will be set upon a platter delivered to the General Secretary of Red Tide."

The translator promptly spoke the same words. Unequivocally, they nodded and swore. The translator confirmed it. An then took out his knife and slashed their hands, so the blood spilled evenly from it. Each of the soldiers looked on in awe, crying in pain as An wiped his knife, telling the translator, "Tell them that if they should ever doubt my word, they only need to look at their hands to know what I will do to them if they cross me." The translator repeated An's words as the second in command gave the soldiers rags to wrap around their hands. In the meantime, An looked at the specialists and asked the translator: "Do you support the People's Republic of Korev?"

"Me? I don't. I was forced to use the equipment, because I was one of the only people qualified in the province. The Korevian Soviet have been ruthless in how they manage things, so I don't think that you would need to slash anyone's hands."

"I'm not going to slash your hands. I need you to help me. None of my compatriots speak Russian, and you are the only one who speaks Russian and English among us. I need you to help us in our language quest. If you help us, I can guarantee you safety - but only if you are true in what you say. Otherwise, I hold you to the same standards as those soldiers."

"Commander, I assure you that I have every desire to see the end of the PRK, and if it means following you, I will do so. I don't know if the Red Tide forces can recover us so quickly though."

"We are here to hasten the return of Red Tide forces into the area. You will help me by speaking my words to the local populations. Now, I am already suspicious that in my first venture that three soldiers of the PRK are involuntary conscripts, so if everyone we meet happens to be involuntary conscripts, I will know that there is a problem here."

"We come from a town that was Russian before the PRK moved through the area. Everyone that wasn't useful to the new government was lined up and shot. Everyone who had any use was forced into labor for the new government in their specific role. For me, it was radio equipment, which is why I'm here now."

An looked back at the crew. He knew that what he was doing would probably be at best a dangerous exercise, and at worst a stupid one; but considering his options, he couldn't afford to leave people behind to guard a RADAR post, however valuable it was, and having spare prisoners would slow him. The specialists were even trickier, since he couldn't trust them completely, even his translator. But if anything, he hoped that his fierce reputation would win him their loyalty, and that his fidelity for their loyalty would win him their trust.

At once, An assigned each of his soldiers to guard one specialist, and three of the elite Hwarang members to guard the three soldiers. With that settled, he turned to his translator: "What is your name?"

"My name? I'm Vasili."

"Vasili, I am An. Until I tell you otherwise, you stay by my side."

"Yes. Of course."

An looked at his soldiers, watching some of the crew return from their early morning excursion. "Once we are three hundred paces from this place, hit the button." They nodded, and with everything else in order, they hit their bearings, due west. 300 paces from the RADAR post, the building collapsed into a fiery implosion. The few that turned around to see the spectacle were either happy to see it destroyed or distraught to know that there was no way back. An, satisfied that their trail remained hidden, turned to Vasili, asking him, "Where is this village of yours? I think we'll stop there."

"Thanks". Seeing that his suitcase had been unloaded, he grabbed it and walked over to the checkpoint, taking time to carefully review his documents and alibi. He even made sure to play up his Vetalian accent to better reflect the speaking patterns of lower-class Vetalians. With one last pause, he was ready to go. Carrying his documents in hand, he approached the checkpoint in the most indiscreet manner possible.

Taking a quiet place in line with others approaching the checkpoint, he patiently waited, even checking his watch and tapping his foot repeatedly to blend in with the obviously bored queue.

The line was short, yet moved slowly. Sometimes there would be a short scuffle at the very front as someone was either forcibly removed from infront of the desk by the Commissars. Sometimes, the man or woman would simply be removed this way due to a denied entry he didnt want to contemplate, sometimes the man or woman would be placed under arrest by the Commissars, in which case they were dragged away kicking and screaming to a nearby prison truck. After this happened once, several people decided to leave the line and not risk it.

At the front of the line was a desk infront of a big wire mesh fence gate that was the only feature in the otherwise featureless brick wall. Sitting at the desk, flanked by two Commissars on each side, was a Intellegince-Commissarat Major.

When the Vetelian Agent reached the front of the line, he was asked:

"Name, country of origin, purpose of visit or migration, and, in the case of visiting, passport please." The Consortium Major said, putting away a sheet of paper for the last person and taking out another.

200 kilometers to the Kulikovian Fleet

The planes were rapidly approaching, the NIA-04s split up into a line formation, in preperation to launch their missiles.

The Village...

It was a small village, only about 186 people. Barely even worth noticing and naming. The only presence of PRK men at all were a four casual clothed men carrying Ak-74 Assault Rifles, gaurding the mayors office.

OOC: Jimanistan, I dont think the C-47s carried countermeasures, unless you've modified them. Even if you have, your lack of maneuverability will still probably spell your aircrafts doom. Also, I doubt a heavily laden infantry man can swim to shore without being dragged to the bottom.

"Sah, enemy air contacts are moving into a line attack pattern. Now moving into weapons range."

"All right! Surface and launch all fighters. This is bridge to flight deck, prepare launching procedures immediately. Large concentrations of hostile targets bearing three-four-eight, engage and fall back. Good luck, people."

The Silent Dawn's bulk broke the surface of the water with a crash, exposing the flat, 210m long black runway. With impressive speed elevators on the roof slid back, with fighter aircraft appearing, making a short hop and taking off, disappearing into the clouds. The first two F-19s broke off to engage the incoming anti-submarine patrol helicopter, whilst the others circled around the carrier, watching as the rest of the submarine force appeared above the surface. Once all the fighters were in the air, they converged together like a swarm of insects and headed in the direction of the Red Tidean attack force.

"This is Dawn to air wing, you are directed to engage Red Tide hostile aircraft at will. Expend ordnance and withdraw as attack leader sees fit to the secondary rally point."

The carrier disappeared back beneath the waves, the rest of the submarines lingering shortly and then following it. The forty F-19 Knights and Su-47 Berkuts zeroed in on the Red Tidean line, closing the distance rapidly, and fired eighty long-range R-37 missiles, then continued forward to reach cannon and R-73/R-77 range.

He passed the documents through the screen and waited for her to take them before removing his last booklet.

He then handed another booklet, with "Ministry of Finance" in Cyrillic written on the cover, through the screen. "Here's my debit card and cash stipend from the government. 4,500 Solaris on the card and another 500 in cash. Other than this, I don't have any money or valuables on me."

Pausing for a moment, he asked, "Where should I bring my luggage for inspection?"

And as for the infantry, What kind of country do you think I run? I don't think they even get enough equipment to drown with... All they get is an assualt rifle and an ushanka... and a few grenades.... Even FDR could've swam with that payload:eek:

The Red Tidean Air raid...

The 19 EWACs now came into their own. It was very hard to take a Red Tidean soldier, pilot, sailor, or Commissar by surprise. One of the benefits of the Hallucagenic Control Collars was their instant reaction times. The men immediatly detected and identified the incoming Hamilayian aircraft. When the Hamilayians began to launch their missiles, the EWACs crew swung into action.

The EWACs RADAR could double as a anti-electronic system by emitting a beam of pure electromagnetic energy, which would easily fry any unprotected electronics. The R-37 missiles seeker heads and other nessecary electronics blew out, making the missiles utterly worthless. The Hamilayian Aircraft would be unable to close in time to prevent the NIA-04s launch their missiles.

The Anti-Submarine Warfare Helicopter was less fortunate. Unfortunantly for the planes that blew it out of the sky, they had all been tracked by the Red Tidean Navy and were well within missile range. Sure enough, a horde of MDSM-4 and -6 Surface-Air Missiles rose from the VLS tubes, targetting the aircraft protecting the subs, there were five per aircraft. Following the MDSM-4s, about 400 MASROCs(Modern Anti-Submarine ROCket) erupted out of their VLS tubes and splashed into the water, homing in on the subs.

The MDSMs honing in on Jimanistan...

The missile were hardly diverged by the primitive countermeasures. Even had it become too much, they would have switched to backup LADAR guidance.

The Docks of Grogovich...

The Major motioned for one of the Commissars to inspect the mans briefcase.

"While he is doing that, I want to ask you some questions. Would you please answer them?" The Major asked in a tone of voice that said 'You will be denied if you say no.'

A squadron of SU-27's took off from the aircraft carrier, flying just above the waves, shooting up jets of water in their wake as they approached the numerous radar contacts. The anti-air missiles aboard the ships were charged and activated along with counter electronic devices. Crews aboard the ships prepared for battle, rushing through the ships in their combat gear with fire crews standing by for damage. The time counted down to contact...

Red Tide- How much range do the MASROCs have? I was under the impresssion I was 50-100km from your fleet.

Post up tomorrow, sorry.

OOC: I was under the impression that you were right at the edge of my national waters, which is only 22 kilometers out. Anyways.. I was thinking about a range of 60-80 kilometers... lets go with 72.

IC: At 150 kilometers from the Kulikovian Fleet, two missiles fell away from each of the NIA-04 planes. With 600 planes, that made for a total of 1,200 missiles, they would fly on inertial guidance until, at a predetermined range, their active RADAR units would activate. Once that happened, they would home in on the signature and blow their targets to kingdom come. Another 600 missiles fell away from each of the NIA-04s bomb bays.

The CM-1 Anti-Ship Missile moved at a speed of Mach-3, with a 400 kilogram warhead. Although not nessecarily a heavy hitter, it could still take out a aircraft carrier or battlecruiser in a single blow, maybe a small battleship if lucky. Anything bigger would require more missiles. Fortunantly, with a total of 1,800 sea skimming, mach-3 missiles in the air-most of them targetted on the transports-the Kulikovians had a rather good chance of being annihilated.

Also, Red Tidean weapons were all EMP hardened... just so the same trick couldnt be played on them.

OOC: Actually, its 1,800 missiles. 600 planes, three missiles per plane. And its not out of proportion for my military, whose doctrine can be summed up in the words: "Overkill? Whats that?"

When you attack a nation with a military that burns down entire forests that are suspected to be home to a sqaud of rebels, you should expect a out of proportion response.

The Russian Vympel R-37 long range missiles were designed for the express purpose of shooting down NATO AWACS craft, and were hardened against electronic warfare, but it did little good against the advanced Red Tide planes. With their guidance systems lost, three-quarters of the missiles fell in to the sea, or simply continued forward without targets. The Hamilayan fighter pilots got over their disappointment, as well as shock at the rapid response by the enemy against planes essentially appearing out of nowhere, quickly as they closed to short-range missile and cannon range, where there would be no time for the Red Tide EW aircraft to neutralise the R-77s and no way for the slow AWACS craft to avoid their cannons. With this as well as the disappointing start to the attack in mind, the Hamilayan planes immediately zeroed in on the nineteen larger aircraft amongst the NIA-04s. With the enemy attack aircraft having fired most of their anti-shipping missiles already, there was little point in targeting them to cover the Kulikovian fleet, which would have to fend for itself.

The two F-19s sent to cover the retreating hunter-killer pickets had no time to celebrate their kill as a salvo of antiaircraft missiles rose from the Red Tidean blockade. They immediately deployed chaff and flares, turning around to join the rest of the squadron with the missiles on their tail. One rolled and soared left to avoid them, but was too slow, and two MDSM-4s hit it on its wing and engine, blowing it apart. The other dived low and hard for the water's surface and managed to evade, one rocket soaring overhead and missing it by half a metre. The survivor continued flying low for a short distance, until the pilot was sure there were no more missiles tracking him, then rose up and headed back to the carrier.

OOC: Yes...

The Naval/Air Battle

The EWACs didnt stand a chance. Although some of the NIA-04s attempted firing on the Hamilayian Planes with their 30mm tail guns, these efforts were largely in vain due to range and speed factors.

Every single EWACs was blown out of the sky, all 19 of them. Every one of their crews rode their aircraft to their death, such was Red Tide. However, Red Tide had both a moderate reserve of EWACs and a massive reserve of manpower to draw upon, replacing these losses would actually be incredibly easy.

The NIAs in the meantime, were trying to get away at just under mach-1.

In the meantime, the CM-1s continued streaking towards the Kulikovian Fleet.

In the Meantime...

The very moment the missiles were confirmed as missed the Hamilayian F-19, the Red Tide Navy reacted in their typical manner: by firing more missiles. Another four MDSM-4 SAMs rocketed out of their VLS tubes and honed in on the F-19.

The Major-Commissar nodded slowly, then asked a few seemingly irrellevant questions, mainly about the buisness he was working for.

After those were answered, the Commissar with the briefcase returned, placing the closed briefcase on the table and then whispering in the Major's ear. The Major-Commissar nodded, took out a stamp, and stamped down on the sheet of paper. In big red letters were the words: 'APPROVED!.

"You are permitted to enter the Totalitarian State. Please enjoy your trip." He said, handing him the paper, "If you are asked for identification, just show the police officer or Commissar in question this."

Then he handed him a yellow slip.

"Bus ticket, one trip use, take you anywhere in the city." The Major said. Then waved Chernobaev onwards so he could get to the next man.

As Chernobaev approached the gate, there were two more Commissars standing on either side of it, they carried M-50 Submachineguns along. Without a word, one of them typed in a code on a console and the gate swung open, letting Chernobaev pass through.

As if by magic, there was a bus station and a national information koisk just across the rundown street Chernobaev found himself on. Looking at the city map, he would find only one road running out of the city, running North, away from Korev.

Though it is true that Red Tide does not have a particularly superb system of human rights, Bolshevik revolution would be even worse for the nation. The Most Serene and Holy Tartar Empire of the Two Nations is not particularly large, and any contingent we supply will not be large. However, Tartarystan is locally renowned for its chemical weaponry. We would be fully willing to send a small Tartar detachment to Red Tide to help suppress the rebels with chemical weapons strikes if Red Tide is willing to help the Holy Tartar Empire. As you can see, we are still a developing nation, and aside from chemical factories, we don't have much. We are willing to send an expeditionary force if you are willing to help us construct modern railways (infrastructure is the foundation of industry!), after we suppress the rebels. - Imperial Chancellor Tulisen Cirgote

(ooc: pardon the long wait!)

Commander An's group came closer. With him were the three captured soldiers, the 15 specialists, and his own 24 Hwarang elite. Armed with their silenced GGGJD-05 SMG, they made plans to assault the village without inciting a hostile response from the natives. An turned to his confidant, Vasili: "How do we tell the PRK guards from civilians?"

"I don't know for certain. My first impression is to say anyone with a weapon, but that might not be true."

"Bring me the three soldiers."

Immediately, the three came to him, with their tactful guards following. An pointed at the village, asking them, "How many of your friends are there?"

Vasili translated, and they gave a reply: "They said there was a platoon here last time, when they first came here. I have to vouch that there were a lot of RPK soldiers, but they were all in uniform."

"How many is one platoon?"

"They say about 50."

"How many people are in the village?"

"186 inhabitants."

An quickly calculated his chances, and his opponents numbers. "It's a small village, and apparently with little strategic value. They wouldn't keep 50 soldiers to guard a village of only 186 people, especially with the greater threat from Red Tide. They would keep back enough to make things work for them. I would guess that they have 10 soldiers here, maybe 20. Any more would be sacrificing troops for a low priority area."

The other Hwarang men were somewhat confused. "If this is an area of low strategic value, why are we risking our mission to take it?"

"We will have support from here. We need a sturdy base of operations, and though this is not the best, it is also one that is least risky in my opinion. If we storm a larger base, we may not succeed. Here, we are almost guaranteed success. But we will need to employ unorthodox methods to ensure victory here, since the enemy is not apparent. We will need to draw him out to us."

An turned to Vasili again and gave him instructions: "Tell these men to go into the village, armed with their AKs and root out the enemy. Bring them back to us and we will determine the precise necessity of our operation. They will have thirty minutes before we start to hunt for them and kill them."

"Send them out?" one of the Hwarang said, appalled at this. "They are the enemy! Why should we do this?"

"It will test them. And more than likely, if they do not return within 30 minutes, to even update us, we will kill them with the rest of their comrades. Ideally, we will take this village without killing anyone."

Vasili nodded, giving the instructions to the three soldiers. An could see the shocked expression in their faces. They were handed their AKs and brought to the edge of the wood overlooking the village. With little other incentive, they walked out to the village.

(ooc: I'll let you - Red Tide - decide if the three soldiers are die-hard PRK loyalists or willing accomplices of the Han troops.)

As the soldiers went out into the village, An turned to his own troops, telling them to divide up. "We are going to need to split. If the prisoners turn out to be liars, they will return with friends. I will lead a flank group to ensure safety of our position. If they are friendly to us, then our positions will further ensure our safety if the PRK guards prove too numerous." With that, they split, An's group holding 15 of the main troops, while the home front maintained the old position, with 9 Hwarang.
