[AR-44 and Variants]
The AR-44 (Assault Rifle, Model 44) is a high-powered, light, modular rifle that is comprised of four variants: AR-44A1 (standard infantry), AR-44A2 (compact/officers weapon), SAW-44 (squad automatic weapon), and DM-44 (designated marksman).
The weapon uses the 6.8mm SPC Hydra Shok 115 Grain "magnum" round. The round comes in many varieties, including Hollow-Point, Tracer, Kinetic Energy, Armor Piercing, Ball, Frangible, and Blended Metal.
Image: AR-44A1 and -A2 (http://http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i65/Asgarnieu/ar-44_redo.jpg)
In addition to the Assault Rifle, the AR-44A1 variant has a 12-gauge shotgun permanently mounted to the bottom of the gun. It has a six-round capacity, and fires many different shells, including a grenade shell; eliminating the need for heavier, single-purpose, single-shot grenade launchers.
-----
The two less-common variants, the SAW-44 and DM-44, have the same operating systems, but different looks.
The SAW-44 has a longer barrel and an integral bi-pod. There is also an anti-aircraft sight. There is a heavier barrel in place with a carrying handle, and a much larger flash-supressor. The round used is the 7.62 x 39mm.
The DM-44 has a longer barrel and a high-powered scope with multiple zoom levels, up to 12 times magnification. The barrel has a silencer thread standard, as well as an integral shell-catching device. The round is a heavier .338 Lapua Magnum.
-----
The AR-44 and variants are gas-operated, air-cooled weapons, and offer minimal kick; comparable to the M-16 series.
The weapon is configured in the "bullpup" layout, allowing even the -A2 variant to have considerable accuracy at 300+ yards.
-----

BUMP for interest
Use the wiki- link. It has pictures in it.
As for adjustments, not my rifle :(
The weight is less than any equivalent (non-FT) weapon, and includes the multi-purpose underbarrel weapon.
If you were to order the AR44A2, designed for their marines, then it does not come with the underbarrel weapon, and will probably fit within your weight requirements.
Incidentally, I recommend using the Lyran TGTM-4 MFBS with the AR44, as we do. The Asgarnians have the rifle, we have the battle sight, and the combination is one of the most effective on NS.
Lyran TGTM-4 is a multi-function battle sight (MFBS), factory zeroed in all modes. It combines a default reflex sight (with adjustable brightness, as per M68) with a night weapon sight function, night aiming device (boresighted at 100 metres), manually operated optical zoom with autofocus, adjustable reticle selection, and firing-position-safe grenade launcher sight toggle. A bullet-drop compensator is also available as an overlay to any fire mode, accessed by toggle switch that does not require the firing hand to be moved from the pistol grip. The sight is water-tight down to 50 metres, and is free of parallax error at ranges outside 30 metres.
Problems suffered by the TGTM-2 and -3 regarding the requirement for regular battery resupply were recified in the -4 by linking the gunsight to the battery included in the AR44's handgrip, which also operates the electronic bullet counter. The battery provides the gunsight with 60,000 hours of constant operation in normal combat conditions, and is rechargable from the AC outlet featured on most Lyran vehicles, or a regular 240 volt power outlet.

Introduction
Hello; I'm Jack Baur, the owner of Jack Baur Firearms; I've been shot, stabbed, beaten up, blown up, tortured by terrorists and foreign governments on several occasions, betrayed by my own government at least three times. Lost the love of my life three times; had to shoot my best friend and save the president on several occasions. When you're me you need quality firearms that fire first time, every time without exception so welcome to the Jack Baur Firearms JB168 Combat Assault Rifle.
Overview
The JB168 Combat Assault Rifle aims to be one of the most advanced, lethal lightweight rifles on earth. Boasting the reliability and rugged durability of the Kalishnakov and M4 with the accuracy, speed, and ability of the SA-L85A2 and G36. Along with something just a little bit Animarnian. The result was the JB168
The JB168 is a standard Layout Assault rifle; meaning it can be picked up quickly by soldiers and they will instantly have a feel for it if they have used an M4 or a G36 in a short space of time. The moving parts of the gun are made from the finest steel making it a little more on the expensive side and adding a little weight than some modern rifles but this has produced exceptional reliability. In testing each rifle fires 50,000 rounds without a single Jam. if it jams the rifle is scrapped and recast. Its then tested by firing 25,000 rounds in -50 Degrees Cold and +130 Degree Heat under Lab conditions; it's then tested with 50,000 rounds with dirt and mud in the workings of the rifle; with simulated poor Maintenance lack of cleaning as well as 25,000 rounds underwater. If any point the rifle fails - it's scrapped and recast; Each Rifle during testing is required to fire some 275,000 rounds without a Jam.
The frame of the rifle is constructed from Carbon plastic making it exceptionally durable while the weapon is still relatively light even with the steel parts and maintaining low recoil and overall strength. This gives the weapon manoeuvrability even in cramped urban combat. The pistol grip is also designed to be ergonomic so it feels natural in the shooters hands further improving accuracy
The actually barrel is equipped with a muzzle break to reduce recoil and is threaded to allow the addition of silencers, flash suppressers and many other accessories. There is also room for a 33cm Bayonet to be attached Under Barrel. The stock of the weapon is telescopic and can be extended inside the stock are two springs that help reduce recoil and improving accuracy.
The weapon has one underside rail that can equip a 40mm Grenade launcher, shotgun or Metal storm launcher. Two integrated side-rails allow the shooter to mount a flashlight and Point Shoot laser sight onto the rifle at the same time or other equipment that might be required; a top rail also allows the shooter to mount a powerful Advanced Sighting System in addition to the Rifles Iron Sights.
Loading is done at the Middle underside of the rifle as standard; a magazine is loaded into the receiver of the rifle and pushed and rocked into place. The charging handled located on the right side of the rifle is then manually pulled back; by doing this a round is extracted from the magazine and loaded into the breach. The shooter then releases the charging handle and the rifle is ready to fire. When the last round has been fired, the bolt and charging handle stays back. When reloading the weapon, the shooter would insert the magazine and tap the bolt release, causing it to slap forward and chamber the first round automatically as if the shooter had pulled the charging handle.
This allows for much quicker reload times, making for a more effective overall weapon. The spent casing is ejected on the right hand side from the side of the rifle. The actual magazine is constructed from black Balkalite; readily and cheaply available and durable and is a Curved Banana shape as Standard. The Magazine can carry 30 6.88x45mm BAUR rounds. Though the weapon does have the option of being able to attach a150 round or 500 round steel drum magazine.
The selector switch is located on the right side of the weapon above the pistol grip. This allows for extreme ease of access, allowing the shooter to switch rate of fire with the flick of the thumb, without taking his hand off of the pistol grip or the trigger. The switch has four settings: 'SAFE', 'SEMI', 'BURST, and 'AUTO'. Safe rending the weapon harmless; Semi being Single shot, The burst function is a two-round burst, allowing for greater accuracy and AUTO is Fully Automatic. The actual trigger is designed for an ultra smooth pull increasing accuracy by allowing the shooter to squeeze of rounds with ease.
Recoil is handled using a Long stroke gas operated piston with a Rotating bolt; much like the SA-80, M-1 and AK-47 rifles however the JB168 also comes with a counter bolt to reduce recoil like on the AR-10. The rifle also uses rails along with its recoil spring guide rod and long stroke piston. This helps keep the carrier in line while still leaving ample room for the casing to be expelled. The butt of the rifle also comes with a rubber plate so that the shooter won't feel the recoil as much.
Field stripping is very easy; one needs only to remove the dust cover, withdraw the recoil spring, and pull out the bolt and piston to field strip the rifle with ease. The Sight of the weapon is a set of Iron sights on the top rail. The Rail can also mount an JB Advanced Sighting System; A recent development in lenses allow the new sight to use not only Tritium based night Vision but also thermal infrared and Ultraviolet for targeting and comes with an integrated 200x digital and 15x optical zoom feature.
Future Development
Research is as always ongoing and it is hoped the JB168 will definitely see service in foreign and home armed forces is hoped for the next 20 years. Future development will include AP Frechette ammunition in the 6.88x60mm Variant for use against heavy battle suits and power armour.
Ammunition
6.88x45mm BAUR - Recent combat has shown the 5.56mm NATO while a round with great range has less stopping power than the 7.62mm AK which has the stopping power but is falling out of the sky at ranges in excess of 250 meters. So the JB168 uses an entirely new round; the 6.88x45mm BAUR; fast enough to give it an effective range of over 600meters and large enough to Penetrate Level IV Body Armour. The Secret of the BAUR is not just its size but how it's made; using a lightweight Aluminium Case with a Copper jacketed tungsten core and Titanium Barbette gives the round its speed and lethality. One of the problems encountered during development was that of lowering Magazine capacity due to the extra size of each round this was fixed using telescoping cased round and each Magazine can hold a decent 30 rounds. Each round weights just 7.2 grams and is fitted with 2 grams of High expansion high Energy propellant to reach a muzzle velocity of greater than 1200 meters per second.
6.88x45mm BACP - The 6.88mm BACP is similar to the BAUR with notable differences. The BACP is designed with a high-density Copper jacket and a low density Tungsten core and Titanium Barbette. This makes the jacket bust on impact the due to the low-compressibility of the core. The result is a large amount of fragments bursting into the body of the victim, increasing the lethality of the weapon and an almost guaranteed kill against non-armoured targets.
6.88x45mm BAURHE - using the same construction as the BAUR the HE is simply a High explosive built with a copper jacket and titanium core on a delayed crush fuse to ignite packed RDX and NE High explosive.

History
The AR-12 21C started out as the ALW-XM02 rifle; this was a complete failure as the round was too large; and kicked too much recoil except for the largest and strongest soldiers. Further development came in the form of the ANLW-XM03 rifle this featured a more dynamic and modularised design but still failed because of reliability issues. The Animarnian Government then purchased SA-L85A2 Rifles from the British and development of a indigenous rifle was abandoned for 2 years. But Animarnia Land Warrior Inc kept tinkering with the design even though there was no official government contract for any new combat rifle. While Developing the ALW- GLX8 Revolving Master Key which was based off the abandoned "Jack hammer" program with a larger 20mm solid steel magnum bore. Several new technologies were developed that were needed to reduce the extreme recoil from this weapon so that a soldier could fire it without having there arms ripped off and acquire the penetration to punch through 3 inches of solid steel. Through the development of its sister program the new AR-11 was born despite being a decent rifle in of itself. And providing a basic chassis for many variants it never really distinguished itself from the British SA-L85A2. Never leaving that rifles shadow so wasn’t picked up for a military contract but did acquire several Law Enforcement and Civilian Hunter contracts and is one of the most widely used rifles in the civilian market.
Still sales from this funded the development of the AR-12; said to so far be the pinnacle in Animarnia small arms though not well known for its small arms it is hoped that the AR-12 will serve the Animarnia armed forces and acquire international recognition
Overview
The AR-12-21C 21st Century Combat Rifle aims to be one of the most advanced rifles on earth. Boasting the reliability and rugged durability of the Russian Kalishnakov with the accuracy, speed, and ability of the British SA-L85A2. Along with something just a little bit Animarnian. The result was the AR-12.
The AR-12 is a completely modular weapon; meaning it can be altered quickly and in a short space of time. Including the barrel. The moving parts of the gun are made from the finest steel making it a little more on the expensive side that some modern rifles but this has produced exceptional reliability in testing the rifle fired 15,000 rounds without a single jam. The frame of the rifle is constructed from Carbon plastic making it exceptionally durable while the weapon is still relatively light and maintaining low recoil and overall strength. This gives the weapon manoeuvrability even in cramped urban combat. The pistol grip is also designed to be ergonomic so it feels natural in the shooters hands further improving accuracy
The actually barrel is equipped with a muzzle break to reduce recoil and is threaded to allow the addition of silencers, flash suppressers and many other accessories including room for a Bayonet. The stock of the weapon is telescopic and can be extended inside the stock are two springs that help reduce recoil and improving accuracy. Two integrated side-rails allow the shooter to mount a flashlight and laser sight onto the rifle at the same time or other equipment; a top rail also allows the shooter to mount a powerful telescopic sight.
Loading is done at the back underside of the rifle; a magazine is loaded into the rear of the rifle and pushed and locked into place. The charging handled located on the right side of the rifle is then manually pulled back; by doing this a round is extracted from the magazine and loaded into the breach. The shooter then releases the charging handle and the rifle is ready to fire. When the last round has been fired, the bolt stays back. When reloading the weapon, the shooter would insert the magazine and tap the bolt release, causing it to slap forward and chamber the first round automatically as if the shooter had pulled the charging handle. This allows for much quicker reload times, making for a more effective overall weapon. The spent casing is ejected on the right hand side from the top of the rife. The actual magazine is constructed from black Balkalite; readily and cheaply available and durable. The Magazine can carry 22 Beowulf rounds or 32 7.62mm rounds. Though the weapon does have the option of being able to attach a specially developed 150 round steel drum magazine.
The selector switch is located on the left side of the weapon above the pistol grip. This allows for extreme ease of access, allowing the shooter to switch rate of fire with the flick of the thumb, without taking his hand off of the pistol grip. The switch has four settings: 'SAFE', 'SEMI', 'BURST, and 'AUTO'. The weapon's burst function is a two-round burst, allowing for greater accuracy
The actual trigger is designed for an ultra smooth pull increasing accuracy by allowing the shooter to squeeze of rounds with ease. Behind the trigger is an ammunition counter that displays the total number of rounds currently available in the magazine.
Recoil is handled using a Long stroke gas operated piston with a Rotating bolt; much like the SA-80, M-1 and AK-47 rifles however the AR-1221C also comes with a counter bolt to reduce recoil; the rifles also uses rails along with its recoil spring guide rod and long stroke piston. This helps keep the carrier in line while still leaving ample room for the casing to be expelled. The butt of the rifle also comes with a rubber plate so that the shooter won't feel the recoil as much.
Because the weapon is Modular like the FN-2000 field stripping is very easy; one needs only to remove the dust cover, withdraw the recoil spring, and pull out the bolt and piston to field strip the AR-1221C.
The Sight of the weapon is a combination of Iron sights and SUSAT II; a recent development in lenses allow the new SUSAT type sight to use Tritium based night Vision and thermal infrared for targeting and comes with a 200x digital and 15x optical zoom feature. The Sight further extends the range to 800 meters with accuracy. For missions where equipping a full sighting system is advised the weapon also comes with an integrated Blue Dot sight like that seen on the FN P-90 PDW
Future Development
Research is as always ongoing but the AR-12 will definitely see service it is hoped for the next 10 years and will hopefully replace most mainline rifles inside Animarnia if it proves to be as it should be. Future development might include Frechette ammunition or aluminium or silk steel alloy ammunition as the weapon including the barrel is moduleized it is possible to replace and machine new parts as needed.
Ammunition
The .50 Beowulf measures 12.5 x 42 RB and has an 11.2-mm diameter rim with a 13.5-mm body. Two types of bullets can be chambered the .325 grain (21.1 g) hollow-point or the 400 grain (25.9 g) flat-nosed soft point. Muzzle velocities achieved with these bullets are respectively 2,050 fps (650 m/s) and 1,900 fps (603 m/s). The magazine is has been modified to carry greater capacity than the 5.56mm NATO M16 magazine, the Beowulf magazine has been modified by carefully bending the feed lips to reliably feed the larger cartridge. The Beowulf can regularly penetrate Level III body armour with reliability with the .400 grain penetrating Level IV body armour in some instances
The 7,62mm measures 7.62mm x 54RB with a Rim of 11.30 mm with a weight of 9,6-11,8 grams gives the round a muzzles velocity of 780-870 meters per second. This cartridge is the most common in the world being used on the AK-47 for many years; it was decided to use the 7.62mm over the 5.25mm NATO because of the desires to have increased penetration.
These are two different types of weapons and both are used qutie widely in the Animarnia armed forces.

Subject: re. caseless ammunition
Dear Sirs,
Thank you for your query. Caseless ammunition works in a more or less similar way to conventional ammunition but with a couple of differences that cna vary depending on the exact caseless form used.
6.6x48mm CFC uses a cylindrical "caseless telescoped" form, where the bullet is compeltely encased within the propellant, behind the bullet in the central "well" of the round is the primer/booster charge which when ignited by the impact of the firing pin pushes the bullet forward and sets off the High Ignition Tempreature Propellant (HITP).
The main advantage of caseless ammunition is the fact that it weights between 30 and 50% as much as a conventional bullet meaning a soldier can carry a lot more ammuntion, the use of telescoped ammuntion also allows the use of more compact gun mechanisms which can be more condusive to higher rates of fire, although without the disposible heatsink present in cased ammunition (i.e. the case) over heating can be a more limiting factor. Caseless ammo also tends to be a bit smaller than cased ammo, particuallry in length when it is telescoped.
I hope this helps answer your question.
Kind regards
Karen Jenkins

Basically, simplifies the design, lets you carry more ammo, and makes the weapon ambidextrous. My own first design uses 8x65mm (down from the intended 10x80mm) caseless rounds capable of punching a good-sized hole in even early powered armor.
OOC: Infantry, although working in officer training atm. I design things, (and buy things) on NS that I would want with me in the army.
If I may offer my suggestion, nothing seen on this thread so far appears better than the Asgarnian AR44, which I selected myself after a long selection process, and it DOES come with the underslung weapons system.
Just my two cents.
BTW, just so you know, the AR-44 is not mine, so I don't stand to gain anything either way.
Good luck on your selection process. :)

OOC: Thanks for your assessment. I have to say that I hold your opinion with a little more weight since you're an actual soldier, but right now I'm kind of set on something from Aequatio. It still helps having a professional opinion though. I was in JROTC (basically junior army cadets, but not formally attached to the military) for my first two years of high school, but reading about war and living it are two different ballgames entirely. Are you in the U.S. Army?

ICCD has two basic models in service: ULIAR (aka IAR2) and the IAR-1-MK-X
ULIAR
The ULIAR is a light assualt rifle modled on 12mm round size it is designed as a light and small assault rifle. It uses ergonomic design and allows modular attachments in the same class as the IAR. The main differences are it's self assembly- it's stock can be removed, it's barrel extention can be removed, many of the bells and whistles of the rifle have been changed. It uses accellerated firing rather than mode firing. The longer the tringer is compressed the faster the firing rate, also how fast and hard the trigger is compressed will effect firing rate. So a small click may fire one it passes the threshold weight while a heavy pull will start a fully automatic firing rate.
Also the dual cartridge capacity has been changed up for a single cartridge capacity with internal firing mechanisms replaced to only allow single zone firing. New cartridges feature bottom load refills, rather than full catridge exchanges - inserts also mini belts can be used in this system. The gun is air cooled so overheating can be an issue if a continuous rate is used but the thermal design has a heat sink which can be inserted into a cooling liquid if the heat rod is attached to increase firing time in belt feed mode. An attachment for this weapon has also been design for vehicle duties for enhanced cooling.
Scopes and other devices of course can be attached as per the IAR. The gun is not intelligent as the IAR can be by default and does not require smart card activation nor does it have inbuilt sensors. Instead a trigger lock gaurd and nozzle plug have been designed to inhibit unauthorized use. Pricing can be negotiated but the weapon would fall from the $275-1000 range without modules. ICCD has a number of modules to choose from. This gun can be used to launch RPG's independant of a grenade launcher module - put requires a forward push on the trigger. The gun is not designed for long range (more than 300 yards) but has an up to 450 yard range (depending on round weight and weather conditions from the ground) range could technically be longer at higher altitudes with a long barrel attachment, and use of scope. Tends to be used in snug mode as close in personal arms. The rifle is a light weight bullpulp design. This rifle makes up for the loss of its inbuilt sensors and direct attachments and wireless capacities with a overmesh and compensation software that is designed for dian combat PDA's. Then allowing preset distance wireless technologies for remote use. Not as good as an IAR but can still be usable.
(This gun actually has two models one is a training model and one is the regular model (the training model uses 6mmx18mm rounds) but is the same size (with different booring)

COST 500 NS$'s. baserate and that is only for very large production orders.
Standard rounds are 1 load anti personnel flechette and anti hardened Teflon Coated Smoothbore liquidmetal hardened composite
reinforced thermally sheilded and disipating grips to insure a "comfortable yet cool to warm grip" .
inbuilt sensors for autofire when linked with the combat computer including echosound and motion detection.
MODULES AVAILABLE
Intelligent interface mudules.
48mm canister launcher but design allows RPG firing on forward trigger push.
Trench Gun (shot gun) under stock, that is pumpable.
WIth a buckshot it can be used for defending against air launched projectiles by making a shot cloud. The most simple modle holds 10 shotgun slugs. and is pump loaded and fired (no trigger)
There is a bayonet attachable either to the main stock the trench gun or the 48mm launcher. more then one bayonet can technically be mounted at one time, and can be interchangable with some sensor systems such as bottom and side mounted laser sights. Bayonets can run anywhere from 10$'s to a few hundred typically. Cheaper Knives can also be massed produced. The standard dian bayonet is also a a survival knife with a fillable hilt. (or it can be left empty to reduce weight) (much the same as the stock ammo cartridge, which can be left empty or replace with survival items or a secondary combat computer.
The combat computer that ICCD uses is a Prism Handheld weatherized for all terrain all weather usage (including underwater to reasonable depth) Prism Weatherized attachable Units typically cost 2000$'s each (non weatherized units are available for $1000, however are not recommended for rigourous combat conditions. The battery life of the Prisms is a minimum of 6 hours. The batteries are rechargable either by USB type plugin, multi plug connector (with small transformer) or by a standard deployed solar pad (that comes as standard equipment for Dian Forces for a variety of usages such as radio, satalite and GPS and other equipment. Role outs can cost between 50 and 500$ depending on terrain and other requirements. The gun has internal hardwiring that can be removed for 'EM blackout zones and EMP and EW defences against wireless intelligent systems.' The wiring is hardened and designed with nonmagentic nanocarbon optic electron super conductive wire in a hardoned shell with transfer multiple channels these are like hairs that run inside the gunframe. They require special equipment to replace but can be replaced, but system failure is not expect unless the gun is physically cut where the wires run. (which could happen .
There are countless other sights optic systems and otherwise for a sniper you may consider a laser sight (ranging from 10$'s to $1000) optic magnifiers (scopes with raning prices) etc.. once we know your desired configurations we can do pricing or we can supply you with the mounting requirements so that you can arrange for your own "attachments" to fit properly with the rifle.
Each component requires individual field testing as it may effect the performance of the barestock rifle depending on weight of the attachables. The rifle is MOST accurate when using ground frame bipod or tripod with basic stock, a scope is also standard issue for "target" or accuracy shooting.
The rifle ranges effectiveness is tested to 2km (in generally ideal settings). targets beyond that range are very dependant on the ammo type (i.e. special boosted ammos), some ammo types may not have the same effective range. Wind conditions can also effect lighter ammos such as titanium.
As stated Dian standard round is 12mm x 36mm taking slug teflon - steel/titanium/tungsten/uranium... or regular shelljacketing and fill. also taking sabot, and flechet mark rounds. in addition to some special ammo designs.
Different ammo have different firing effects and radius. The Dian 12mm x 36mm is widely available within the Holy Empire of Intracircumcordei, and the production of the ammo has a long history in ICCD, as an attempt to make a stronger more impactive and upgradable rifle round that is distinguishable from mass produced rifles of other nations. ICCD is willing to mass export it's rounds to prospective IAR holders. Cost of individual rounds may vary depending on the material and commodity prices. Pricing can be done on request for filling specific ammo orders. There are no arms export restrictions in ICCD in relation to "non classifed" arms and equipment, usually with a 10 to 20 year clearance period which the IAR and it's standard ammunition falls into.
The way the rifle fires in different barrel length configurations, is by "winching" down the barrel into the specfic configuration. Older models use different barrels, however an internal backend adjuster now allows for the barrel to be constantly snug and sealed with the end of the rifle coming out more and adjusting the firing chamber position. The rifle is best weighted in it's long configuration. This new IAR intergrates intelligent barrel assessment with a slightly different sensor capacity based on graining of the attachment via internal diagnostic sensors - this allows the weapons computer system to recognize what barrel attachment is being used and switch those statistics without requirement of natural keyin or external identification transfer through an external camera system of another unit member.
The firing modes have been changed to the new system of compresion hardness and length soft pull equals single shot, hard pull equals double shot, compression equals geared up automatic fire. soft followed by hard full compression would be three round burst. forward on the trigger triggers forward mounted modules such as grenade launcher shotgun. The computer system 'CAN' reconfigure trigger functions but it is a protected capacity. For instance a hard pull can be set to only one shot, or 10 shots or to operate forward sensors turn on a flash light in the forward module etc..
The trigger will allow special trigger assignments when the computer is used with it - but the old manual switch has been placed out of easy reach at a protect stock area inside the stock area, so that it requires you to reach in with your finger, generally imposible to do during a continuous firefight. - the gun is designed to be used with the computer.although it will still be functioal without it.
"compression trigger" - will fire for as long as the trigger is held down at full rate
"Assigned Trigger" - will fire 1 bullet with within .5 second compresion 3 round burst every .5 seconds afterword.
"single compression mode" will fire once when the trigger is pulled until released and pulled again.
The rifle can have a silencer or a muffler attached or a combination silencer muffler and/or flash supressor. However silencers are quickly deteriated when using automatic fire mode (single cartridge with slight deteriation after each shot and may reduce firing range and potentially acuracy but useful for minimal and fast silenced close combat) . The flash supressors and mufflers have a longer life.
pod systems have also been designed for this rifle to mount it and utilize it as an intelligent self firing mount, using the computer the gun can be placed without a pod such as in a tree and a timer or remote firing via EM band such as radio wave or IR could be used to remote or preconfigure firing, not only of the gun but anything attached to the rifle that has the standard intelligent interface capacity or Dian MilComTec Capability
Clips can be loaded into the front end or the back butstock end. This has been rediculously extended to four cartridge insertion points as well as refills as per the ULIAR in normal operations the extra clip points would not be used. The new two catridge points are opposite the lower cartridge points. Normally a barrier would be there but the barrier can be 'retracted' One flaw was that with these points open it could expose the gun to to much environmental debris. Also the four mode firing increase the firing failure rate by 0.0003%. although a weapon failure is still on lotto winning proportions. heating of course becomes a greater consern and the catridge points come in handy with cartridge cooling inserts. Where the catridge would be instead cooling bursts are fired into the gun. THese can be used for thermal camoflauge as well, to keep the guns heat signature reduced.
Different ammo types can be chosen from, cartridge either front loads or rearloads up into firing chamber. Four asignable load modes, only front fire, only rear fire or fire front then rear or fire rear then front.
ICCD's IAR is a multi role Assault Rifle. Comes in "short" close combat, "engaged" field of combat, and extended distributed weight high percision sniping. Also has acceptable mounts for a variety of uses including ICCD's IAR 48 mm x 144 mm canisters. A new model in development perhaps with cooperation by Weapson will integrate attachable trenchgun/shotgun. Both the TE3 and the IAR mainbody have assignable bayonet capacity.
ICCD through a number of it's partnering manufacturers has a host of grenades. ICCD Military only uses one "standard operations equipment grenade shape" and that is the 48mm by 144 mm canister. comes in smoke, White phosphurus, frag, concusion, flash, foam, various chemical fill, acid, plastic, jelly etc.. canister outersize is the same, however often there will be a colouration marking, a symbol or wording on the canister to differentiate it. Cansters may also be programable or internal remote sensor.
The cost of canisters can all be quoted on an order to order basis.
More information is available on request.
The trigger are is open with a flip up and retractable gaurd it accepts a lot of attachments, and the ejection system can work in multiple ways. Including pop up into the upper cartidge areas which when emply can be used for collection of casings. Specially designed catridges are required. This allows for no trace firing. Side ejection ports which are configurable are also allowable. One of the main issues with the gun is the moving parts although due to the high quality precision production of these weapons the failure rate is basically negligable, even in periods of hard use. The design with harder than titanium metal alloy is one of the main factors of this. The precoatings on the weapon make reservicing of the weapon much less needed. but it can still benifit from super lubricants very small micron air vents are also included so that servicing equipment can service the lubrication and gas needs of the weapon.

The IAR is still evolving and the new class of assault rifle the ULIAR is reducing the demand for the rifle. Costs have been kept very low at under $1000 for what would likely sell on the open market as a full system for over $20,000, still a fully equiped IAR-1 MK-X is likely to fetch upwards of $5000, although some specialized attachments can run much higher in price.
All in all these guns are some of the best weapon systems in the word
If you have any questions or an order inquiry let me know.
Note the prices quoted at $275 and $500 materials costs sale price will typically be higher.

OOC: I'm not actually in the army, it was more of a military history class with ranks and uniforms modeled on the army. Some of my Australian friends have told me how elite your army is, so your word carries a bit of weight when it comes to arsenal stuff.

Kahanistan Military Industries would like to present its M-67 general-purpose battle rifle, which fires 8x65mm caseless rounds at 1,100 meters per second, and can mount both a bayonet and grenade launcher. However, it is far heavier than your stated requirements, weighing six kilograms empty and 8.6 kilograms with a 500mm M-86 bayonet and M-203 grenade launcher loaded.

Might I suggest the FN F2000
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/60/Rifle_FN_F2000.jpg/300px-Rifle_FN_F2000.jpg
F2000
Type:- Assault rifle
Place of origin:- Belgium
Specifications
Weight:-3.6 kg (7.94 lb) empty
4.6 kg (10 lb) with grenade launcher
Length:- 694 mm (27.3 in)
Barrel length:- 400 mm (15.6 in)
Cartridge:- 5.56 mm NATO (STANAG 4172)
Action:- Gas-operated, rotating bolt
Rate of fire:- 850 rounds/min
Effective range:- 500 meters (540 meters optical sight)
Feed system:- 20/30-round AR-15/STANAG box magazine
The FN 2000 has a short-stroke gas piston system with an adjustable gas regulator, and fires the 5.56 x 45 mm NATO cartridge from AR-15 magazines. Due to the bullpup arrangement, it is compact yet with a long barrel for accurate firing, although it is slightly heavier than most carbines, such as the G36K or the M4. It features forward ejection of spent shells and a P90-style ambidextrous fire selector, and the charging handle is fully adjustable for right or left handed users.
The standard F2000 comes with a plastic forward handguard and an optical sight with 1.6x magnification. The sight cover and sight itself can be removed to reveal a Picatinny rail. The forward handguard can be removed to equip a variety of accessories such as laser aiming modules (LAM), 40 mm grenade launcher with push-button safety, 12-gauge shotgun, M303 less-lethal launcher, or the triple rail found on the F2000 Tactical. The optical sight can be replaced with a special computerized fire control system designed for the 40mm grenade launcher. The fire control computer makes firing regular grenades much easier, though it cannot fire smart grenades. There is an Israeli system that uses the M203 and computerized sight to fire 40 mm airburst grenades. Neither of these should be confused with the 20 mm and 25 mm grenades of the U.S. OICW program.
The F2000 platform has a bayonet lug mounted near the muzzle, and has an adjustable gas regulator with two settings: "normal" for standard ammunition meeting SAAMI or NATO specifications, and "adverse" to send more gas into the system to ensure proper functioning when fouled or when using out of spec ammunition. The chamber, rotating breech block, and ejector mechanisms can be accessed by flipping up the access cover, or known affectionately by many operators of the F2000 as the “toilet seat” cover. Spent cases are shifted into the ejection chute by the polymer ejector mechanism.
As can be seen this is a very good assault rifle guranteeing good and long lasting service to your country. The rifle is a litte over your weight specifications but how many other rifles offer an easily maintained computerised aiming module? The aiming module calculates the effects of variables such as Wind Direction, Wind Speed, Air Pressure etc and adjusts the aiming point in order to compensate for bullet drop or other such annoyances. Although the item is not currently on my storefront (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=12885693#post12885693) I am willing to sell the productions rights for you for a price that is reasonable and we can both agree upon.
[OOC: All of that is from wikipedia and so is not my words, however this IS a very good weapon.]
OOC: Be very careful of techno-wanked weapons that can fire enormous projectiles (such as, say, 11mm... a .50 cal is only 12.7, and look at the size of the firing platform on that). A lot of rifles on NS are good, solid designs or concepts, others are just plain geek fantasies.
Pale Rider Arms will gladly provide you with our latest line of battle rifles, the M26 series.

Replacing the volatile M25 HVAR as the standard combat rifle of the Otagian Regular Army, the M26A1 combat rifle is a powerful and advanced weapon, well suited to the ORA's demanding requirements.
The action of the M26A1 is based largely on the Heckler and Koch G11, with the recoil of each shot rotating the chamber 90 degrees to load a new round before snapping back into place. In the case of a dud round, the operator merely cycles the action, which loads a new round and ejects the old through an emergency port in the bottom of the rifle. In addition, the M26A also borrows the G11's moving barrel, chamber and magazine, allowing extremely high rates of fire, with all three rounds leaving the gun before the assembly hits the operator's shoulder. Thus, recoil has no chance to effect the user's accuracy, greatly increasing the lethality of a decent marksman by letting the entire burst impact in the same location.
The M26A1 uses the latest version of PRA's SmartGun system, which feeds targetting information garnered from an integrated laser range finder to a set of glasses (also available in nightvision or IR goggles) worn by the user, via a short range wireless transmission (roughly two meters maximum effective range). The glasses then project a crosshairs, distance to target, and ammunition remaining onto the operator's field of view. The system runs off of a small lithium-ion battery cell, and engages only when pressure is applied to the trigger in order to conserve energy. The M26A1 also features GrenadeLink software, which predicts the flight path of rounds fired from the integral UGL, and displays the arc on the operator's field of view.
