Now before the policemen was a man. Beside him was a Kar98k rifle: he was dead and the rifle was broken. This man had been hunted down for some time: he had committed a terrible crime. He had evaded the military and the police after doing this crime. Some men saw him as a freedom fighter. Most saw him as public enemy #1. Everybody knew what he did and what they were going to do when they caught him. The man had finally met his end in a gunfight with military forces. His counterpart, also a part of the crime, was
gunned down too. They had taken refuge inside, oddly enough, a fortified swimming pool. He killed three federal soldiers before meeting his own death. Once they were both killed, they were examined.

But what crime had they committed?

They killed the Emperor.

A week or so before

For the past few months, the Emperor began to let himself go. He became overweight and began to smoke: he was barely the slim and athletic hero everybody knew him once to be. He was told what he was doing was dangerous but he simply didn't listen. The Emperor, Julius Nero, had also let himself go to places unguarded and disguised. He thought of them as simply an innocent joke, but his guards knew better: there were many who wanted to kill him. Julius Nero then, in an attempt to increase his public relations, scheduled a "grand exhibition", featuring sports, cultural objects, clothes, foods, etc., from around the world. He himself would attend, and he planned not to be humble about it: he wanted the attention. Julius Nero spent months preparing the exhibition when the event finally came. He opened the exhibition himself. There, he indulged in the festivities himself. He couldn't help himself. Finally he had a sit down with his guards. He didn't listen: in fact, he called his other guards and had the ones who sat him down publicly hanged for treason.

The Emperor was deep in a downward spiral.

Then, about a day or two later, he was in the middle of the exhibition grounds, doing what he had done for the past several days. On the balcony overhead, two men, equipped with rather out-of-date rifles, stood. They were barely noticed because of everyone's focus on the Emperor. Then it hit: a 7.92 x 57 mm round lodged in the Emperor's skull, killing him instantly. The other man's bullet missed, and it hit a vendor, killing him too. They ran like hell from the exhibition, very pleased. This was the second attack they had made on Urcea: early on, when Urcea was a small Constitutional Monarchy, they had destroyed an armory, killing dozens. Now, they killed Urcea's leader.

Julius Nero, the Emperor of Urcea, was assassinated yesterday. The assailants were un-identified, but it is assumed they are Carthago-Tunisian terrorists or special operations forces. The Holy Roman Senate is deciding who shall be crowned as the next Emperor.Until that time, Julius Nero the lesser is acting as the de facto Emperor.

Nero was shot in the head and instantly killed by a rifle firing a 7.92 x 57 mm.

Urcean emperor murdered

Urcean emperor Julius Nero the Greater was slain today by two gunmen, which authorities believe to be Carthagian or Tunisian separatists.

The killing took place at the grounds of the Grand Exhibition, an elaborate event featuring various global luxuries, including sports and cuisine.

British Londinium has officially sent its condolences to the Urcean people, and Consul Alistair Davidson has called for a day of mourning to observe the passing of a man who was a stalwart ally to the People's Sovereign Republic. Parliament has nearly unanimously elected to grant the deceased emperor a posthumous Order of the Londinian Empire, one of the highest honours that can be awarded within the nation. In addition, a bronze statue of Julius Nero is being planned for construction within the city of Port Hemali.

"He was a good man," the Consul said. "Not only my friend, but the friend of each and every one of us. I am deeply saddened by his passing, and I hope that the group behind his death be brought to justice."

Following the death of the Emperor, several new people who want the throne of the Emperor have stepped forward.

12 "candidates" have stepped forward, all claiming to be Julius Nero's protégé. They also all claim to be of Nero's beliefs, even though many are not.

Urcea's political situation is considered from afar as "archaic democracy".

The only front runner who has been silent is the man in charge: Julius Nero the lesser. He is showing to be very popular among many senators and among the people. He has not stepped forward to claim anything, and it may just win him the Imperial Crown.

Emperor of Urcea Assassinated

Emperor of Urcea, Julius Nero, has been assassinated by what the Londinium press and Urcean press are claiming to either be Carthagian or Tunisian separatists. He was shot while enjoying a public relations event called a Grand Exhibition. He was enjoying the festivities when two shots from a Karz 98k Carbine were shot at him. One hit Emperor Julius Nero in the head, and another struck and killed a nearby food vendor.

The separatists were found and shot by the Emperor's guards in a nearby fortified swimming pool.

Emperor Julius Nero of Urcea was the mastermind of a series of international incidents involving small countries. Rumors of slavery, medieval style punishment, corruption and poor leadership abound.

Members of the Glorious Republican government have not commented on the incident.
