Love Amidst A War! It's the Emperor's Big Day!
You heard right, the Emperor is getting married. It was announced recently that Emperor Conrad II (http://www.maj.com/gallery/Humhum/lolz/kaiser_konrad_ii_profile.png) would be marrying Princess Mihoko (http://www.maj.com/gallery/Humhum/lolz/empress.png), a Questarian royal, but it was not announced when. It seems, to the Times, that this is by no means a coincidence that it would be today, the day after the beginning of the NATO war. It could be that this is meant to show that Zukariaa stands by Questaria to the end, whatever it may be.
However, this is not simply political move. It is well known that the Emperor studied at a Questarian naval academy for several years, and in that time, it is rumored, he met and fell in love with the good princess. If it's a true story, it might be a first amongst royal marriages.
This may also be for a morale boost. It is feared that many Zukariaans simply do not understand why we have joined the war on the side of Questers, even though we are very close allies. Prepared to fight is one thing, but realizing that we are a closely bonded group of nations could give the men the fight with all their strength.
"Zukariaa and Questers are close allies, but this will make us brothers. From now on, I wont look at a Questarian as some guy that makes boats. I'll look at him as a brother. This alliance is comparable to the alliance shared with the Jaredcohenians to the north." is what General of the Army William Shepherd had to say on the marriage. Perhaps all Zukariaans will feel the same way, and look at the Questarians as family.
It has been a growing concern that the Emperor has no heirs, even into his 30s. With no heirs and still being unmarried, it was feared that he would die without a son and end the Teran line that has ruled Zukariaa, unified or not, since it's founding. Now that he is to be married, the concerns have deteriorated. Empress Mihoko is expected to have several children, and continue the line. However, Empress Mihoko herself has been the subject of much criticism. It will be the first time that a Zukariaan Emperor has ever married a outside of Zukariaa, and some of Zukariaa's more extreme citizens have handed out death threats to the poor girl. The Emperor had this to say on the subject:
"Fuck you."
Still, Zukariaa will never be the same. The descendants of the Emperor will never be full-blooded Zukariaans, and so it is a wonder if the population will accept this mixed family as the royal one. We went out and asked random citizens what they thought of this news, whether they were displeased or happy. Here are some of the responses:
"It doesn't bother me that she's a Jap. She's pretty hot, actually."
"Go away."
"I love it. It's time Zukariaa stopped being so damned racist!"
"She's basically a white chick with slanted eyes. I don't see the problem."
There you have it. The wedding is to be three hours from the release of this paper. We look forward to the new Empress, and can only wonder how she will influence the Emperor's decisions and the way Zukariaa's citizens look at foreigners.
