The Planet (FT, ATTN: Wanderjar)

OOC: This is kinda closed to me and Wanderjar, but if you promise to be helpful, you can jump in. Essentially, this is my intro to FT, this planet will become my homeworld. If I ever godmode, just tell me. I'm new at this...

IC:

The small Kampferian fleet drifted along in the outer reaches of space. It consisted of many small ships, and one or two very large ships specifially for the transportation of passengers. The people had been exiled from their home planet by an invader many years previously. HAd they stayed there, all would have passed by now, yet the time difference in space travel had preserved them, relics of the past.

Suddenly, in the control room of the command ship, a bleep was heard, loud and clear. Commander Richtoff ran into the room. "What is it?"

Private First Class Eisenberg was manning the instruments. "It appears to be a planet, sir. Running diagnostics.... It appears that the planet is devoid of life. It has air levels capable of sustaining unassisted human life, but the temperatures and lack of light may be a problem."

"Well, we need to set down and rest the engines anyways. Bring her in," he said referring to the ship. The fleet slowly set itself down on the surface. Wearing heat suits and carrying nearly extinct weaponry, the most HK G36's, a small patrol climbed out of the ships and began walking the surface. The lack of a sun forced the use of a flashlight, and one soldier pulled it out. It did not turn on.

"Damn things. Anyone got a spare battery?"

A soldier threw him one, and he changed it out. They continued on their way with their path illuminated by the high power LED flashlight.

The planet itself was an abnormality. Seemingly not a part of any system, and at the very rim of the universe, it had no star, nor did it orbit. It simply sat. It was a cold, dark world, one that the KAmpferians would see a lot of in the future.

The Kampferian exiles were far from fortunate to have found this god-forsaken world. The reason for its barreness had been due to mass purgings created by the Wanderjarian armies, the blood soaking into the soil they hoped would release the spirit of a daemon Prince long thought dead, however only entombed deep beneath the surface.

The Sorceror Malakai stood tall before an impossibly large cauldron above a mass pit within smoldered an inferno heating the cauldron's infernal contents....

"How long until it is ready, Malakai?" The Sith Knight demanded. "I was under the impression that you had already prepared the beast for awakening."

"My lord!" The Sorceror protested playfully, "Such things take time. Once the blood rite is prepared, and a proper sacrifice is issued..." he was cut off by the Knight.

"Malakai! How much sacrifice do you need? We slaughtered an entire world! The Astartes Company annihilated everything!"

"Quite. However a proper sacrificial ritual is required for such a thing. It shall take more time. Perhaps seventy two hours? The blood must completely boil over, thus spilling into the fires below. The blood's steam shall create a mass cloud of iron above the planet and with the proper sacrificial rites, can summon our Prince from his unholy slumber."

"Very well then," The Knight replied frustrated. "I'll give you the time you need."

"Excellent. That is all I ask. Think of the power this shall bring into the Galactic Empire? Think of that for a moment, and you shall understand why we must remain." The Knight merely walked from the Sorceror, who was then left to his own contemplations.

(OOC: Hey dude, I decided to make a small story for this I guess ;)

Many planets have a daemon prince underneath their surface after the Horus Heresy, thus I sometimes impliment this into the story somehow. It makes things interesting, and once your guys figure it out, which I'll make sure you do somehow, the race against time thing will be fun :D)

The Kampferian soldiers, 10 in all, walked foward. Reaching the crest of a small hill, they were amazed to see a massive glow in the distance.

The soldiers reached for their weapons. "What the..."

Walking foward, they could see the outline of a few figures in the light. One soldier reached for his M40A3. Laying down on the crest he counted the number of figures visible through his scope.

"I got two bogeys. Want me to take them out?"

"Are they friendlies?" the commander questioned.

"How the fuck would we know? Even if they were, what the fuck are they doing on this godforsaken place, and why the hell didn't they register onour life scan? No, they were hiding from us. I reckon we take these muthas out now before a whole army of 'em arrives."

Well, let me radio back to the ships. "Yeah, this is expeditionary force Zulu. We are all alive and well, and I could care less about you, as it's goddam cold! We have visual contact with possible hostiles. Permission to fire?"

"It's your digression, Captain," came the response.

"All right, permission granted. What the hell. I don't even see why we even keep the rules of engagement anyways..."

"We don't," the sniper cut in. "Star Commander Klischten burned them a few years back, remember? Anways, ligning up on subject one... aim ready... firing on subject one."

The echo of the unsuppressed shot riochetted through the landscape.

"Dammit Charlie, I thought you had your suppressor on there!"

"Whoops," responded the sniper, "so did I."

The bullet bounced off of the Marine's chest plate, creating a small but noticeable indent in his armor. He immediately began scanning for life, while his helmet's systems tracked the aerial vibrations of sound waves eminating from the rifle.

"Enemy target, there!" The incredibly deep metallic voice of the Astartes Marine echoed. All astartes were tall, standing at around eight feel tall, wearing massive power armor which was painted black with red trim in the pattern of the Emperor's Wraiths Space Marine Legion. Red Eye lenses gave an incredibly sinister appearance for these amazing super warriors of Wanderjar, and their appearance was not the only thing sinister about them. The squad of fifteen Marines raised their bolters and fired, sending massive shells ripping through the enemy squad, and would inevitably tear them apart. One Heavy Bolter machine gun opened up, firing the massive shells at lightning speed, putting yet more suppression fire into the enemies.

The Kampferian squad would regret ever setting foot on this ground.

A few soldiers were immediately torn to pieces. The captain hit the deck to presumably avoid the shots. He picked up the radio. "Star commander Klischten, we have fallen under heavy fire. We need backup! Repeat, need reinforcements!" Shortly afterwards, he and the rest of the squad were predictably torn to shreds.

Meanwhile, back at the fleet, a new squad was gearing up to go out. Having finished, they moved out. They marched out, a group of 50 soldiers in all. Instead of going in the same directions, they accidently marched off in a seperate way. Cresting a hill, they saw the ruins of an old city. They radioed back to the fleet telling them of the city. They marched down into the city. Entering the first building, they found it to be some sort of guard outpost. Descending into a basement, they found some odd shaped weapons. The captain picked one up and fired it into the wall. He examined the impact spot.

"Hmm. Appears to be some type of plasma gun... Hell its better than ours. Everybody grab one."

They swapped out their relics and grabbed the new stuff, then began to sweep the city for life.

The military team would find life within the city, and soon. From the sky scrapers riddled with bullet holes and large defacements ripped from their previously majestic form, and from behind the many fires which still raged across the city, the Cultists watched.

Brandishing intimdatingly long blades and las-guns, they were the converted perverse survivors of the Wanderjarian attack, who had pledged perpetual allegiances to the Chaos Gods which the Wanderjarian's venerated. Skulls of the fallen citizens of this lone world adorned the eight sided star spikes which they wore proudly, and adorned upon their backs. They waited stealthily, watching the platoon of soldiers as they slowly made their way through the city.

One hissed, "Why are we not killing yet?"

"Patience Salathi, we shall kill the unworthy in good time. First we must witness their ways," another replied. Their communications network broadcasted all conversations to the entire force of thousands of such warriors throughout the city. Soon enough, they would see the glory of Chaos, soon they would perish by the thrusts of Chaos steel.

Farther away from the city, the Sorceror examined the corpses of the fallen humans. He noted with interest that they used ancient weapons, far more so than the equipment he had ever seen.

"Now where did they get those?" He wondered to himself. Then whispering, he answered, "I haven't seen those in....millenia."

"Malakai, have you any idea where those pathetic human's came from?" The Sith Knight asked.

"No my Lord, I fear I have not the answer you require. Perhaps the Annihilator can give us a sweep of the system?"

"Yes, but the vessel is too small to handle a major engagement if one is coming. It is only a Research vessel."

"True my Lord, but that still does not mean we cannot learn from whince our foes have come. They appear to be using ancient weaponry, material I have not seen in millenia, things which were in Ancient History museums on Holy Terra..."

"That is curious. Very well then," The Knight replied. "I shall have the ship sweep the system and the planet for a better idea of where the enemy is and in what strength. We can work from there. There may only be a few thousand of we Wanderjarians, Marines and Sith, but any foe who dares cross the Empire and the Wanderjarian Sector at that! Shall most certainly have a fight on his hands!"

"Indeed my Lord. I shall continue the Unholy Rites to prepare the blood."

With that, the Knight turned about and left Malakai to his own devices again. The Annihilator was a small ship, capable of only carrying a relatively small garrison of troops and a smaller wing of close air support craft. At the behest of their Sith Commander, they proceeded to make a sweep of the system to detect all known enemy forces in the region. They would know within moments the strength and location of the Kampferian forces, and then the destiny of the Kampferians would begin to play out. Never had sevety two hours meant so much for an entire universe. The fate of untold trillions laid in the balance.

OOC: Now I'm posting :D

Sorry for the over-used introduction, but it's all I can think of right now.

IC:

The planet had been blasting off emissions recently for some time-and Dominion sensor recon stations, scattered in the hundreds of thousands across the galaxy, had picked them up from two systems over without much distortion. The Dominion wasn't locked in war for once-it wasn't locked in a war period, even better-so some "undercover" action was seeming like something interesting. Come to the bottom of the energy source, and maybe pick up some investment too...

A single Akira-class destroyer, escorted by two Otari Corvettes and a Defiant patrol ship, blasted into Hyperspace from the Outliers region of Dominion space. It was an affordable fleet-if you could call that a "fleet"-as it didn't matter if four small ships got wiped out by something big. They were expendable-and they probaly knew it. However, it was interesting, and the military was getting sacrificed every other day. It was of no concern.

The hyper-trip took a few hours-traversing the galaxy these days was easy-crossing the galaxy itself took little time. The four ships blasted in-system several planets off-it wouldn't take long to make up the distance out at sub-light, plus it would give the ships ample time to scan for threats. Active sensor suites went up at once, pinging the local area, as Gravitational Sensors went up to search for cloaked presences.

The bright shots emanating from the plasma weaponry shot at the unrecognizable life forms. The soldiers did not know the power of the weapons in their hands, nor did they care. All they cared about was survival, and that this gun was better than what they originally had.

The Cultists immediately abandoned their concealed positions and rushed the platoon of soldiers, brandishing their massive blades high above their heads and shrieking with the rage and fury of Khorne. The wild looks in their eyes and the ferocity of their screaming would be unsettling to anyfoe, and as they came charging out of every position within the city, the enemy would soon find itself either fighting a seemingly endless supply of blood crazed mad men or be overrun. Only time would tell if they could defeat the enemy hordes, and the time would be soon.

Here the platoon would make its stand.

And here it would be was right. Surrounded on all sides, there was no oppurtunity to fall back to the safety of a building. They spread out, crouching behind rocks and chunks of fallen buildings, getting as much cover as possible. If they fell, the Kampferian ships would go next. And that would be the end of Kampfers. As such, each soldier fought with unmatched conviction. The soldiers opened fire on anything and everything moving outside of their circle. The lack of ranged weapons for the enemy gave the soldiers one good advantage.

The shrieking hordes pushed forwards under the torrential fire of the plasma guns. They were torn apart right and left, plasma bursts engulfing them and melting through their bodies, but still they surged onwards. Casualties soared into the dozens, then into the hundreds as they neared their foes. Finally the surviving cultists leapt forwards with their blades, ready to engage the Kampferian soldiers in close quarters battle. There were only a few dozen of them, however they still out numbered the Kampferian platoon.....

The kampferian's pulled out their hunting knives. They fought off the beasts with one hand, and if they got range on them they would shoot at them with their plasma guns in the other hand. The captain hit one with his plasma gun, knocking him down, and fired off a few shots into his face. HE looked behind him to see another creature bearing down on him. He raised his gun and fired one shot, but the creature also sliced him in half. Kampferians were falling, yet their skill in hand to hand combat allowed them to give it a bit better than they took it.

Out of the original 50 kampferians, only 34 remained. They were severely tired, but knew they could not let down their guard now. They pressed on into the city, searching for the enemies. Hopefully they would find what was causing this madness before it was too late.

Meanwhile, Star Commander Klischten tapped his foot impatiently, waiting for an Amazonian response.

Diaz took the other captain's response in quickly, making decisions.

"Confirmed, we'll deploy two Assault Shuttles and a Gunboat to the surface to reinforce what your have, meanwhile, we will link our fleet towards your direction and attempt to initiate contact with the research ship. If we recieve no response, we will sent two squads of assault boarders to force contact. Fundamental out."

The fleet fired thrusters as three smaller support ships-two of the larger assault shuttles and one of the smaller, lithe gunships-dropped from the Fundamental's hanger bay, four Nemesis fighters in tow as flanking escort. The flight group accelerated fast ahead of the capital ships advancing towards the "research ship", shooting down towards the planet, weapons on full activation and sensors on active scan.

The fleet, meanwhile, was closing, the patrol ship advancing to make a contact sweep.

"Unidentified ship, state your intention, repeat, state intention, over," the patrol craft announced over multiple bands to the "research ship."
