People's Sovereign Republic of British Londinium

Consul Sir Alistair Davidson stood rigidly before the combined Senate and National Assembly. The MPs were anxious, nervous, and they let it show all to well. And, who in their position wouldn't be? One too many nations had called for an invasion of British Londinium, and that meant their jobs were on the line. But when the Consul requested their assembly, saying that he had vital news for them, they dutifully attended, as their nationalistic loyalty expected of them.

"Ladies and gentlemen of this Parliament of the People's Sovereign Republic of British Londinium, I thank you for your attendance," the Consul said genially. "As you are well aware, the rest of the world does not share our love of law and order. The blending of a detainee numbered 1401 has received international condemnation. Our citizens abroad are being arrested for nothing more than being a Londinian. A handful of nations are threatening war. And, can we really fault them for it? After all, they are only human -"

Many gasped at his last sentence, considered by most Londinians to be a grave insult. Alistair motioned for them to be silent, and they obliged.

"-and thus they can not be expected to understand our penchant for lawfulness. And we cannot reasonably expect to convince them to even tolerate the excesses British Londinium will undertake to obtain our punctilious, orderly society. The world is a barbaric, disorganized place, filled with writhing worms who profess themselves to be leaders of their so-called civilized nations. Those troglodytes threaten our very existence, and President Azzopardi and I have agreed that we must take very drastic measures to ensure our survival. British Londinium needs a strong leader, a leader capable of ensuring our protection against all threats that may arise against us. We need a...Swanner, if you will, to assist us. Say what you will about the former Prime Minister, but he was a strong leader, and it was only the betrayal of his subordinates that prevented him from defeating the Sovereign League."

The Consul paused for a moment. "Thus, it is with great trepidation that I announce to you President Azzopardi's decision to grant me emergency powers under article twelve of the National Exigency Act of 2010."

Instead of the rampant shouting and protests the Consul expected, he received a standing ovation from the Parliament.

Let a new era begin, Alistair thought. For this country shall never forget my name.

"Have you read the latest news from British Londinium?"

"Aye, we need to do someone, first, I want you to put our base there in high alert, any civilian who wishes to take refuge inside will be welcomed, and if requesting so, evacuated."

"Anything else?"

"Yes, tell the Army to keep an eye on the Londinian base here, if they ask, tell them it's due to some routine excersises."

"Understood"

Let it be known that the New Prussian Empire no longer considers the nation of British Londinium an associate state. The Wanderjarian Government itself however wishes to offer a simple statement to the Government of British Londinium, stating that any Swannerian actions will be dealt with harshly and using Military force. The World shall not tolerate this sheer lack of concern for the well being of the people.

To the World Soviet Party:

Despite the fact that we will most likely be expelled from the GUSN, we still consider TWSP an ally and a friend, and we will be more than willing to allow military maneuvers to occur within one hundred kilometres of your base.

Sincerely,

A new age, same old friends?
Alistair Takes "Emergency Powers"
______
From The Alacean Times
Page 1a

Very recently, a new dictator has taken control of British Londinium- former Consul Alistair Davidson. He has pledged to be "swannerian", to stop recent conflicts orchestrated by ViZion and other various states. It seems that a new age has come for the nation.

The Alacean Senate has released, however, it shall not take action against Davidson, rather, it shall remain fairly close allies to the new British Londinium. Have we made the right choice, only time can tell.

114 had slipped into the Parliament Building with rather ease, or at least she hoped she had. She had been lucky over the past couple of days but had had some close shaves with the detention squads going around.

She found herself a place to stand in the far back with a couple people in front of her just as the Consul began his speech. She retained a stoic face throughout his monologue. Then the moment of truth came, how would the MPs react? she waited. Then cheers and a standing ovation."So this is how liberty dies: with thunderous applause." 114 thought to herself. She quickly exited the room.

Walking quickly down the corridor she knew she had to get back to where she was staying...and fast.

These actions by President Azzopardi come as welcome news to us. The Consul handled the Cazelian situation excellently from the start to the abrupt finish when he chose to withdraw; it remains a shame that continued complaints led to this course of action, but we understand the necessity of the Londinian removal now. An ambassador from our shores was present for the Consul's speech, and it is refreshing to know that he has the full support of his members of Parliament also. Some will erroneously deride you for becoming a dictatorship - we recognise that this is just a necessary step.

Lord Sumguy

Lord Sumguy looked at the report with a worried expresson. Oh grat, another power hungry dictator in charge of a militarily powerful nation. It's gonna go straight to his head, i almost went insane with power when i first took office. I only hope that we will not be the frst target of his madness. He called in one of his secretaries. "The Londinian military restrictions have ended, and i think it is time to rebuild our defensive capabilities once more, as I fear we may need them."

The next day, factories begn to receive new orders from the government, and recruitment offices opened all across the nation.
