A New Friend (Closed, Atteintion Kirav)
Blue skies, rushing cars, bustling crowds, and giant modern city buildings. It was a normal summer day in Lorica, the prized capital city of Alacea. But as children played in the street while birds chirped, Emperor Adrian sat in his office, busy answering various phonecalls from Senators and signing several contracts. Today was the meeting with the Kiravians, which nobody wanted messed up.
Alacea needed as many friends as it could get, while the wars between the QC and Gholgoth raged, a very fragile peace remained in the homeland. Kirav was very much like Alacea. Both where constitutional monarchies, both were somewhat Libertarian, and both shared similar interests. One last phonecall to the President, and the meeting could begin.

Now to get to the bloody thing... thought Adrian, on his way out the door. A short undercover armored limosuine ride later, he arrived at the Centivelli (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s126/Alacea/TheCentivelli.jpg?t=1184372093), one of Lorica's many luxury conference hotels. Now all there was to do was wait...

Permissum Astrum Subleuco
Imperial Alacean Embassy
We indeed accept your invitation to a meeting.
Ambassador Tanwood will conduct the discussions on our behalf.
[in the Centivelli]
Ambassador Tanwood enters the conference room.
He salutes, and greets the Emperor, "Good day, Emperor Adrian. As you know, I am Ambassador Æriv Tannwood. The Empire is very interested in opening up relations and looking into mutual cooperation between us."
"Hello, Æriv, it's a pleasure to meet you," he said, extending his hand. "These are my aids, Levin Kiles and Miley Havvington," nodding toward the formally dressed assistants. "Let's sit down. Feel free to ring the bell and order something at any time, make yourself at home."
"Essentially, what Alacea plans is the lowering of tarrifs and the signing of a MDP or another form of mutual military document. Let's start with talks of furthered trade..."
He was interupted when a Centivelli maid walked in, curtsying.
"Your majesty, would you like anything?" she said, friendily. "Yes actually, please bring me in a small glass of 1901 Chardonnay? And a Coranian pipe, if you will. Anything you'd like, Æriv?" directing his line of sight to the Kiravian.
"Only some tea, please", Æriv answers, "Thank you".
"I agree. Dropping tariffs would be an excellent start. Kirav's principal trade goods are equipment, data processing equipment, materials, chemicals, and agricultural products. However, a variety of goods are produced and exported throughout the Empire. Are there any perticular products that Alacea would be interested in?"
"Alacea could use more trade partners to accomodate chemicals and various equipment. We have trillions of barrels of oil, we do not use very much, as we use fuel cell and hybrid cars. That, along with foods, luxury items, coal, natural gas, timber, electronics, automobiles and military equipment are some things we have to offer, Ambassador Æriv."
Ah..Food. As much agricultural technology, irrigation, and farm funding as we have, the Empire never seems to have quite enough. Alacea would have a fine market for food products.

We use fuel-cells for our vehicles as well, though ethynol is used in areas where fuel cells would be impractical or unaffordable. We are very concerned with our envronment and its well being.
"Excellent. Shall we proceed in the signing of the document lowering tarrifs, and move on to a defensive pact?"
"I concur, Emperor", Ambassador Tanwood replies, clicking a pen.
"Here we are, the agreement to lower taxes on goods. Let's see here," he replied in reading the top line, "Alacea and Kirav shall lower all ad valorem tariffs to 4 cents on the Universal Standard Dollar, this being the maximum rate." Adrian quickly put down his messy signature and passed the paper to his companion. "The MDP will be similar to those the Alacean Empire shares with Avisron and Tolvan. It states that, in times of war and invasion, our two states must provide effort in assisting the other, and if one of our nations invades another, it will be the latter's choice whether or not to participate. A more detailed version is in this folder," he said, sliding the contract over the oak table. The Emperor lit his cigar waiting for Tanwood's response, trying to conceal how tired he actually was.
Tanwood signs the paper with his own untidy mark, and then looks over the MDP.
His eyes skim over the papers in the folder, "This is much to the liking of Imperial policy. Quite acceptable." He then proceeds to sign the treaty.
After signing the document again, Adrian spoke. "It appears we're done here, Ambassador," sliding the documents into a briefcase. "Let me just say it's been a pleasure working with you. Hope to see you again sometime." And with that, the Emperor rushed out of the room. He'd received a message from the President, something about Midlonia and Cbaso, marked "Urgent". Best go see what the hell was going on...
"And an honour to meet you, sir." Æriv says as he clicks his briefcase shut, and returns to the Embassy.
