Siap

Its that time of the decade. Speaker of The Council of Ten, the most visible position in The Community of Siap, is scheduled to be voted upon at the end of this year. The Esmund University Political Science Department issued a survey abroad to see which candidate would receive the most international support.
The Candidates:
Incumbent-Alex Connor
Affiliation: Militant Liberal Party
Priorities: Education, Military, Environment
Notes: Supports the Dual Society.* Has expanded greatly the Siapian Education system, offering excellent education all across The Community, as well as fostering research and development. His economic policies have tended towards free-market, allowing the economy to expand to its current strength, however he has initiated strong environmental programs, saying that economy without soul is not a society. While he empowered the military with the Compulsory Service Act (now strongly supported) he has been criticized for his strengthening of the military, especially the Siapian Intelligence Network. There have been many allegations that the newly reformed SIN has taken certain liberties with peoples liberties, however these have never been confirmed.
*The Dual society is the relation between Siapian military and civil society. Citizens who serve in the military are not subject to standard civilian laws, but rather the military laws which are much stricter and afford less liberties. The theory is that when someone enters the military, they are no longer full citizens, rather they are servants for the duration of their service.
Quinn Colin Larkin
Affiliation: World Authority Party
Priorities: Military, Law and Order, Social Equality
Quinn is a career soldier and mercenary, chairman of the military advisement corporation 'Larkin Solutions', and head of the World Authority Party, Larkin believes in creating a military state in The Community and cracking down on crime and substance abuse. He has often been quoted that democracy is an ineffective system, and that true power should be given based on merit through proven leadership (ie-military service). He says that his political theories will be vindicated if he wins this election.
Margo Sinclair
Affiliation: Militant Liberal Party
Priorities: Foreign Relations, Education, Government Transparency
Long serving member on the Council of Ten, wishes to take position of Speaker so that she may expand the relations of The Community. Most of her career has been with the Foreign Service, and she seeks to move Siap out of its semi-isolationist state. She also has been crucial in uncovering many cases of corruption, which she has criticized her opponents for not confronting. Should she be elected, she plans to initiate the largest declassification of Siapian intelligence documents.
Damien Connely
Affiliation: Minarchist
Priorities: Tax reduction, reducing government size, government transparency
Connely began his career working for the treasury department. During his career, the government nearly tripled in size. It was during this time he began his campaign for increased transparency with the budget. He gained initial success, exposing redundancy and corruption. After this, he slowly diverged into politics, where he joined the libertarian faction, eventually subscribing the theory that the government should only "defend the borders and deliver the mail", although he later supported the privatization of the postal system and presently advocates reducing military spending. He has also been an outspoken critic of the compulsory service, and seeks to abolish the dual society.
