Stranded in Paradise (Char RP - OPEN)

OOC: We need some Char RPing here of the 40 or so survivers stranded... no way to contact anyone for any help... and the ship had gone through a storm, thus communication and tracking had been losted about three hours before this happened. We could also use some search parties, though make it a little while before the people are found. The last known location of the ship was about 60 miles south-west of their location. The island is a tropical island, full of trees, fruits, etc... lots of life.

THIS IS STILL OPEN! YOU MAY STILL JOIN!

Oh, and this ship had people from across NS, not just ViZion. So, you can RP someone or some people from your nation... or claim your dead... however you wanna do it.

NOTE: This is an old RP that I had but was back a couple years ago and never got fully going. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=330681 So I'm looking for it to be a fresh start of a great RP...

IC:
It was 4:02 am, June 21st. Time for the shift change on the Ilomia, a small cruise ship. The sun has not begun to peak out yet.

Walking up to the captian, John Danton, who was getting off shift of as a watchout, came up to Captian Alexander Permette. The Captian, wearing a snow-white colored suite, turned to John.

"So, what's the report?" the Captian asks, unenthusiasticly. "It looks all clear. We've got a small island... I'd call in a small paradise in fact, off the starboard side." replied John, promptly.

John was a little on the chubby side, and somewhat short. He had dark brown hair and eyes. Alexander, the captian, was quite huskey, and tall. He was starting to age. He was in his early sixties.

Alexander was just turning to look at some of his crew, when what seemed like all hell broke loose. An explosion, the rear end of the ship popping up, and out of the water nearly 30 feet before collapsing back into the water.

While the tail was in mid-air, another explosion happened. Just after it smashed into the water again, a propeller (sp?) came slicing into the ship, and nearly all the way through it.

Many were killed due to the explosion and the impact into the water, a few more due to the propeller. But, now fire was raging in various locations on the ship, and in other spots, water gushed in. The ship was going down.

In one of the small cabins
As the ship slammed back into the, Josh, a boy of 9 years, was tossed like a rag doll from his bed, screaming. He was with his parents and older brother, Martin, who was 18, celebrating Martin's graduation and Josh's birthday.

Josh woke up after being knocked out moments later to a crackling sound, and Martin's voice. The parents, Bart and Marrie, were dead. Martin, who was injured badly from a dresser that tipped over and onto him, was trying to wake Josh up. "Josh... JOSH! Wake up! We gotta get outta here! The ships on fire and sinkin! Josh!" he yelled, shaking the boy.

Josh, like his brother and parents, were of British decent (OOC: No, ViZion isn't in Britain...). Josh had short blond hair, and the rare green eyes. He was well liked by the girls, but, being a 9 year old boy, he shied away from them, prefering to be with his friends and play basketball and baseball.

Martin was a tall, athletic, blond-haired, blue-eyed, captian of the football team guy. He, too, was well liked by the girls, but unlike his younger brother, did not shy away from them.

As Josh finally came around, Martin quickly pulled him to his feet. "C'mon, lets get outta here... the ships goin down!" he said, nearly yelling into Joshes ear. Josh, trying to figure everything out, said "What happened? What's goin on?"

"I donno what happened, all I know is we gotta get off this damn ship..." Josh stopped all of a sudden. "What about mom... dad? Where are they?" he said, as fear suddenly desended on him. "They... they're gone. We gotta go! They'd want us to go!" he yells impatiently, and pulling Josh out of the cabin.

An hour later, Josh, Martin, and those few who survived were on the small island. The sun was just begining to appear, and the ship was out of sight. Only some pieces of the ship, luggage, and a few other things, were seen, along with multiple floating corpses.

Gregory Lindon, a short, pale man with neatly trimmed black hair and dark eyes, stood amongst the survivors on the beach, his brown utilitarian robes, though now sporting a few singes, were no worse for the ware.

Two weeks ago, Lindon, a low-ranking agent for the Committee on Corporate Oversight was assigned the task of performing a fact-finding mission on the nation of ViZion. After a week or so of preliminary investigation, Lindon had arranged to take an empty cabin on a cruise ship at one of its stops. He figured this would give him plenty of opportunities to observe ViZionians(?) at leisure and provide for an inconspicuous entry into the country.

All had gone well until the explosion. Unlike most on the boat, Lindon had not been asleep. In fact, he'd just woken up at his normal time when the explosions occurred. What happened next in his mind was a blur, but he vaguely remembers horrible screams and dead bodies.

Lindon has no idea how far away from the sight of the sinking he is, and fully expects the Neo Undelian Navy to respond as soon as the Cruise Ship's fate becomes known.

The two brothers say there on the beach. Martin embraced his younger brother, Josh, who was in tears. He was still trying to comprehend what had just happened, and he was begining to realize his parents were no longer with them. "It's gonna be ok..." Martin kept telling Josh. "We'll be fine..."

Marina, dressed to kill as usual, was heading back to her cabin with a 'customer' when the explosion knocked her off of her feet. She was hurled about ten feet down the hall, winding up sitting against a wall. Slightly dazed, she gradually became aware of something wet and sticky in her lap. Taking a second or two to focus, she started screaming when she recognized her new 'friend's' severed head laying there, looking up at her with vacant eyes..............

She wasn't quite sure how she got on the life raft, but when she calmed down a bit, she realized that she was bobbing up and down on the waves as they carried her and two others towards a small island.

The other survivors, a man and a young boy, were either asleep or unconscious. Marina took a quick look around the raft, noting that there was nothing to eat, just a first-aid kit and an oar. Turning around, she gazed at the island getting closer and closer. 'Can't be more than a half-mile,' she thought.

Then the memory of what happened came rushing back. The explosion, the bloody, severed head, many shouting voices, her being carried along by someone to the deck of the listing boat and dropped unceremoniously into it. She must have passed out, because she remembered nothing else until now.

Now about a quarter-mile from the shoreline, she noticed for the first time the triangular fins cutting through the waves and terror threatened to overtake her.

Sharks.

Marina fought down the fear as she grabbed the oar and prepared to defend the raft should the sharks attack. It was then that she saw the man looking at her. "Wha...what the hell's going on?" he asked. She pointed at the water. "THAT'S what's going on," indicating the sharks closing in on the raft. He glanced over his shoulder, and instinctively grabbed inside his jacket and came out with a pistol. As one, then another, of the sharks nudged the raft, Marina screamed when he fired four shots rapidly at the sharks. He apparently had hit one as blood began staining the water around the life raft. Other sharks zeroed in on the wounded one, and began tearing into it in a feeding frenzy which allowed the man to grab the oar from Marina's grasp and begin paddling furiously towards the shore.

He put some distance between them and the sharks and slowed down his frantic pace a bit. "Name's Ed. You?" She calmed herself once more and said, "Marina. Thanks for getting us out of there."

Ed was casually paddling now, and asked, "Who's the kid?"

"I don't know. Both of you were out cold just a short while ago." He began rifling through the boy's clothes when he made a grisly discovery. "Here's why the sharks were after us," he said as he held up his hand which was covered in brite, arterial blood. He pushed the boy onto his side, and saw the gaping wound just below his left shoulder, a steel splinter protruding from it. "He's dead." With that, he pushed the boy the rest of the way over causing the dead child to rollinto the water. "No sense in carrying around dead weight."

Marina stared at him. "That's not even funny, Ed. Some sense of humor you got."

He grunted. "Everyone's got their own style of dealing with tragedy, Marina. That's mine."

They were now just a hundred feet from the white, sandy beach. "OK," he said, everybody into the water."

Marina froze. "I'm not going in the water. Those sharks may be somewhere around."

"Suit yourself," he said, as he slid over the edge of the raft into the waist-deep salt water.

He got about five feet from the raft when she cried, "Wait for me! I'm coming!" She scrambled over the side and swam quickly to where he was and they hauled each other to the shore , fighting the wicked rip-tide until they gained the beach, out of breath and completely worn out from their exertions.

As far as they could see in either direction, there was nothing but the beach stretching off into the distance with the thick jungle about one hundred feet from the water's edge.

"Well, Ed. What the hell do we do now?"

He looked at her. "I dunno. Maybe we should try to find Gilligan and the Skipper. See what theyr'e up to.............."

The two brothers began walking along the coastline. They were tired, sore, and hungry. Not knowing what to do, they simply walked. And walked. And. Walked.

"Marty... I'm hungry..." complained Josh, tugging on his shirt. "Josh... I know you are... I am too. But we need to see if we can find some people first. Then we can find something to eat in there..." he said, gazing up into the tropical forest. "There's gotta be SOMETHING to eat in there. But let's find people first. We need to." he continued.

Josh stopped in his tracks, and began looking around. "Josh, what's up?" Martin asked him.

"I thought I heard someone yell." Josh said. Josh and Martin both listened intently. HEY! HEY! could be heard slightly.

"What the... where's that coming from?" Martin asked aloud, looking around. "Marty! Look! Out there!" Josh said, pointing out to something moving in the water.

"Oh shit!" Martin exclaimed. "Josh, stay here..." he yelled back to his younger brother as he ran into the water and began swimming out to the person.

Xochitl Meztli was one of the few people who tried to lead a life outside the comforts and securities of the Aztec National League. She had done well for herself, being able to lead a middle-class life in ViZion. This was the first time since she took up her residence in ViZion that she had earned enough money to go on a cruise – although that wasn’t too difficult now with how fast the economy was growing…

As she took a morning walk on the deck of the ship, she looked down towards the end of the ship, looking back at least in her mind at the port they had departed from. She thought to herself for a second, before her thought was interrupted by the explosions that rocked the ship. Knocked down to the floor by the sudden movement, she felt a sharp pain as something grazed the side of her arm, cutting it, although not badly. After regaining her footing, she looked around, a bit dazed from the fall. Xochitl snapped out her daze after a second and noticed that the ship was listing. It wasn’t worth going back to her quarters for her personal belongings – all of that was replaceable. Shedding a tear before saying goodbye to her beloved possessions, she ran towards the closest lifeboat and jumped in. Xochitl, although used to the comforts and ease of indoor work, was a bit darker than her fellow passengers in complexion. Her dark brown hair, a color similar to her eyes laid long on her as she watched the tragedy unfold. Although usually optimistic, she couldn’t help but think that she had been involuntarily been given a new home – a lonely island.

As the lifeboat landed on the golden beach, she looked around, noticing that she at least wasn’t alone. Noticing the two ViZionarian children on the beach, she walked over to them and saw Martin running out towards the ocean. Although at first unsure of why he was doing that, she noticed the struggling survivor in the water and ran towards them to help as well. Although she couldn’t keep up with Martin, she would be able to help him with the survivor on the way back to the beach.

"Goddam smartass. We get shipwrecked, almost eaten by sharks, stranded on this god-forsaken island, and all you can do is mouth off."

He looked at her a second, then said, "Listen, bitch, if you wanna go your own way, be my guest. I don't need a whining bitch tagging along."

Marina glared at him, then thought twice about the reply that was on her lips. "OK, listen. We're in a shitty situation and there's no need for animosity. Let's just keep our opinions to ourselves and see what this island is all about." She looked around, suddenly getting goosebumps on her arms. "I sure as hell hope there aren't any cannibals on this island."

Ed laughed. "Cannibals? I think you saw too many movies. Probably the only thing here that's dangerous are the critters."

"Critters? What kind of critters?"

"Ah, you know.....snakes, spiders, rats. Them kinda critters."

She blanched at the thought of spiders. Snakes she could handle. Even rats. But not spiders. "You think the spiders are big ones?"

"You betcha, babe. Big as your friggin' hand. All hairy, nasty lookin' things."

Fighting the image in her head, she suddenly turned. "Did you hear that? Somebody shouting!"

Ed was suddenly all business. Whipping out his pistol, he motioned her to be quiet and to lay flat on the beach. As Marina did so, he ran to a clump of palmetto bushes, looking in the direction of the voices.......

From under cover of the jungle, Ed watched as the one guy dashed into the water to get to another guy. There was yet another person still on the shore, but he couldn't get a good look at him or her. He made a snap decision.

Walking slowly out of the bushes, he motioned Marina to stay down, and almost casually strolled towards the two men in the water. He still held the gun unholstered in his hand.

He stopped fifteen feet from the guy on the shore, raised the pistol, and said, "OK, junior, take it easy and don't move. Who are you, and who the hell are those two out there?"

Out in the water, Josh's 18 year old brother, Martin, heard the scream. It quickly turned around, and tried to make out what was happening on the shore. He could make out Josh on the ground and someone standing above him holding something in his hands. "What the fuck is happening??" he said. He turned back around. Seeing someone else swimming out into the water, he yelled for their help. Martin then wrapped the guys arms around the piece of debris he was hanging on to earlier before swimming towards shore.

Meanwhile, back on the shore, Josh stammered, "D-d-d-d-dont shoot me! Please!" he said, trying to move backwards away from the gun-welding man standing above him.

Before being able to reach the boy, an expletive caught her attention. She noticed Martin run back towards his brother fast, noticing the situation going on just a little way off. Making sure that the man Martin had rescued was safe and at least close to safe ground, she focused her attention on the two boys. Although she had no weaponry or anything, she felt that she had to do something, but what. It appeared that the gunman hadn’t noticed her presence, but her Aztec upbringing re-enforced the notion in her mind that it would be cowardly to run away. Rather, she tried to stay out of view and looked for any possible opportunities to try to help the two boys. She was unable to hear the conversation going on, so she was terrified that they would be killed – something she really didn’t want to see.

So....you better calm down right quick. I'll have no qualms about shooting you....or anyone else."

Ed looked at this new kid with something akin to amusement mixed with annoyance. In answer, he raised the pistol, a Glock 9mm, and pointed it at Martin. "A'int you got any respect for your elders, sonny? From the tone of your voice, it seems that either you have more balls than is apparent, or your'e extremely stupid. To answer your question, I'm SSGT Edward T. Kirk, late of the Xeraphian Commando Unit known as 'Serpent-1'. Josh stood there for a few seconds, not sure what to do before he started moving his way closer to his brother. Martin quickly grabbed him and put Josh behind him. "Calm down? You had a gun ponting at my little brother, and now at me. How am I suppose to be CALM?!" he said, not quite yelling. He slowly backed up, forcing Josh to move back too, trying to get further from the gunman.

"I don't care if you're my father or some militant of another nation, if someone was point a gun at your little brother, you'd probably be feeling the same way I am. Stay away from my brother, you got that?" Martin said, continuing backwards.

Ed couldn't help himself. He shoved the pistol back into it's holster and laughed out loud. He looked at Marina who, seeing the look on Ed's face, started laughing, too. They both carried on for a while, then when they were just about laughed out, Ed addressed Martin.

"Well, big bro, it looks like youv'e got big balls. Your'e to be commended for sticking with your brother no matter the odds. I don't know exactly what you mean about your father, but warning me to stay away from your brother with a gun that would blow half-dollar sized holes in you pointed at the two of you.................well, you guys are alright. How's about we get inland and continue this discussion later. You guys are soakin' wet and we need to find something to eat. Come on, I won't bite........"

Martin was silent, as was Josh. They weren't sure what to do, what had just happened. "You think that was funny? What the fuck? We were just in a shipwreck and you're pointing your gun everywhere for fun? What the hell was that about?" Martin asked.
