The Republic of Greston and the Irondeck Naval Corp. is proud to present to you, the Seastabber class Battleship!

As owner of the rights to the Irondeck Naval Corp. when a request to buy a Seastabber comes up the CEO of INC has the right to refuse. If someone requests that we do not sell to someone else, they must give a good explination on why we shouldn't. No one has the right to sell this ship unless granted permission. If you see someone else selling it, please TG me so I can flame their ass off. Thank you, below is the info on it.

Design:
The requirements for this class arose from the very general requirements of a possible conflict between two allies. This design markes the end of the Board on Construction and the rise of the General Board in Greston ship design.

Armor Suite:
The Seastabber class battleship armor suite provides better protection than the Irondeck class battleship with thicker side armor and all magazines well away from the sides. The designers noted the increasing size, range and explosive power of torpedoes as torpedo designs improved. So as a result from the tests the Seastabber is fitted with a 4 layer system of thin plating air space, thin plate, oil space, thin plate, air space, followed with an armored layer 9.5' inboard. This allowes the explosion to disipate in the air space and deform the liquid loaded back plate. THe deck is thick enough to set off an armor piercing shell and using a thinner armor deck below to catch the bursting shell splinter.

Engineering:
Seastabber is the first battleship class in The Republic of Greston to employ direct drive electric geared turbines for power. Geared turbines, Triple expansion steam engines, and turbo-electric drive are all found to give better range for fuel expended. Thus making it more fuel effiecent then the Irondeck.

OK, some problems that I can see. I'm not much of a designer, but you might want to see the Draftroom crew at http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom .

1. The weight is far too low (the Iowa is 45,000 tons) unless you're thinking of a pocket battleship, a smaller, more producable warship.

2. The speed could go up to 30 knots, maybe 35 given it's pretty light. (The Iowa goes 33, IIRC.)

3. A 3" gun is a piece of shit that won't scratch the armor on a main battle tank, let alone an enemy battleship. Small naval guns are 155 millimeters, and battleship guns should be at least 305mm. With this size, you would want to stay under 406mm.

4. You might not want to carry all those radars on a battleship. They might be more useful on destroyers or cruisers that will spot the enemy early on, but all a battleship needs for radar is knowing where the enemy is coming from so they can blast them.

5. Price is reasonable, maybe a little high. Production rights are generally at least 100 times the purchase price, and often as much as 10,000 times.
