We live in a turbulent time. The Tyrannical Corporate Government of Russia has made moves in the pacific and is moving to occupy many islands there. The Gataway Government has made threats towards the UCCF because of its relations with the west. Wanderjarian forces have seized Kuwait and by all reports plan on invading the rest of the Middle East.

What do all these nations have in common? They are all a part of the Gold Pact. They call it a purely defensive alliance, but by all indications, it is offensive in nature. It targets the west and alienates them.

Now, you are probably wondering, "What does this have to do with Hungary?". Well, The Corporate Government of Russia has friends in governments everywhere. They are always looking to expand and your nation is probably on their list of probably aquisistions.

Now, I have written to you, because I wish for you to join with us instead. The Republican Monarchy has the third best Economy in the world and is the most stable in all of Europe. We are the World's leading exporting nation and one of the leading importers as well. Also our armed forces are one of the best on the European Continent. We manufacture and operate the highly liked and powerful Leopard 2 Main Battle Tank, as well as whole myriad of other munitions that are manufactured in Granate.

Now, I understand that you might not want to give up your countries independence and I respect that. But as it stands, a nation of your size and power stands almost no chance agains the Juggernaut that is Russia. I am willing to allow some measure of Self-Governance compared to the other regions of Granate.

You'll stay on as the Govenor of the Region until an election can be scheduled for that region.
Your military will be expected to join up with the Granatian Military.
Granatian will be added alongside Magyar as an official language.
You may keep your Parliament and other Government Leaders as they will be needed for the Regional Government.
The Central Government of Granate will assist in paying any debts you might have.
Your Region will be added to our Economic Revival Program that is currently revamping our Economy in some of our poorer regions.

That is what I am offering to your country. If this is not satisfactory, I beleive we could work something out. If I must, I will visit Budapest myself to make this work.

Sincerely
Andrei Kleinheart

We are under no credible threat and it would not be good for the nation to bow to foreign interests. The things you could give are quite simply not enough for our nation to surrender itself in foreign policy to you. We have plenty of tanks, plenty of money, and a good economy.

Besides, even if the Russians were to invade we would have your defense anyway, as you wouldn't dare let them get so close to your heartland.

Why give up de facto defense for 'real' defense and pay for it with our national soverignty?

If it were sent to parliament, it would be voted down so quickly it might as well have not been sent there.

If that is your choice, I understand that. I guess giving up ones sovereignity doesn't come easily. I understand that a little more clearly now.

But in any case, I wish to further our relations, if only to make up for my attempt to take over your country. Since we already have a Defense Pact, why don't we take it one step further. We could form an Alliance, where Granate and Hungary are equal members. We'd promise to defend each other in war and tariffs between us would be abolished.

I know it's a very rough draft, but I beleive would could really make this work.

Sincerely
Andrei Kleinheart

I will pass this offer to Parliament. Once the details are hammered out, I'm sure it will pass.
