A Little Revolution.... (MT, Open)

Brayton, Tolvan

Sam Brock peered out from behind the dumpster he was using for cover at the approaching convoy. It was the standard configuration typically used his target, just as he'd anticipated. At both the front and rear of the convoy were Brayton Police cruisers each carrying two officers, in the middle were a pair of black Range Rover SUVs. Brock knew that both SUVs were heavily modified with Kevlar armor, bullet resistant glass, and secure radio systems. The SUVs were little short of armored vehicles and had to be treated as such. He knew one of the identical vehicles held his target, Commerce Minister Roger Burke, while the other held carried a heavily armed Bureau of Diplomatic Security assault team.

As Burke’s convoy approached another member of the team pulled out a small cell phone and dialed the only number in its directory. Seconds later the phone on the other end rang and triggered an electric signal that detonated the single stick of TNT attached to it, this is turn triggered a blast from the three 50 liter propane tanks stored in the truck of the small car the team had stolen yesterday.

Brock ducked as the massive fireball tore across the street. When he looked up he saw both SUVs stopped, but relatively undamaged.

Brock swore loudly, the damn fool had blown the bomb too early! Now it was time for to execute the back up plan. Brock moved out of cover of the dumpster, lifting his AK-47 as he moved.

At the rear of convoy two men lit Molotov Cocktails and moved to attack the read police car. One man made it and lit the rear of the car on fire with his bomb. The other, slowed by difficulty in lighting his, was cut down by a blast from the shotgun wielding police officer exiting the car’s passenger door.

Brock and two other men opened fire on the SUVs but the heavy armor easily shrugged off their bullets. Brock watched as another of his men was taken out by submachine gun fire from the lead SUV as both vehicles accelerated away; using their powerful engines and considerable weight to push aside several damaged cars.

Brock immediately knew the operation was a failure, unless Burke has been killed by their gunfire, unlikely given the vehicle’s heavy armor, the attack had accomplished nothing more than kill a couple police officers and a handful of civilians.

Brock quickly turned and threw his rifle into a nearby dumpster and ran towards his stashed get away car. He had to get out of the country.

OOC: The gist of this RP is that members of Tolvan’s Communist Party have attempted to assassinate Commerce Minister Burke, a powerful and ubercapaitalistic figure in my nation. I’m looking for a communist or socialist nation (preferably with a pop of 700 mil or less) to harbor Brock and maybe to have even aided in the attack in the first place. The RP will focus Brock’s flight from justice, the subsequent Tolvanic crackdown on the Communist Party (it will be banned by the end of this RP), and my nation’s attempts to track down and bring Brock back to stand trial.

All you have to do to join is post ICly that you have aided or will aid Brock and his team, this means you may even have a few intel/spec ops people in Tovlan aiding him, however I will ignore any attempts to invade or carry out overt military action against Tolvan unless you clear it with me first.

Any takers?

The getaway car was a stolen Brayton police cruiser, the bloodstains barely visible on the leather seats. The man Brock knew as Derrick Hyde had his uses, and had been more than worth the money to hire. The professional assassin waited next to the vehicle, MP5K with stock extended firmly in hand, surpressor attatched, and selector on full automatic. The police-issue leather jacket Hyde was wearing concealed his two preferred weapons, a Kimber Eclispe Custom II and a smaller Kimber Eclipse Ultra II fitted with a Knight Armament Corporation surpressor. The sights had been replaced with green fiber optic pipes for all-condition sight pictures, and both 1911's had had the Ed Brown bobtail treatment for easier concealment. Both were held in a standard Bianchi Miami Classic double underarm rig. The rest of his clothing was that of a standard street cop. A good assassin always used his options wisely, and one had to have a matching outfit when driving a stolen police car.

He'd expected the operation to go south as soon as he'd seen the primitive rig they'd decided to use for the improvised explosive device. A few pipe bombs rolled under the SUV's would have done the job nicely, destroying the vehicles where they were weakest. Better ammunition and weapons on the part of the supplying nation could have been better as well. Something in a 7.62x51mm caliber loaded with armor piercing rounds would have easily defeated the bulletproof glass. Had they asked, would have been more than happy to take the shot. That was extra, however, and Hyde had no love of Communists. He did, however, have a love of money, and they had paid good money...

"Everything not go as planned, Mr. Brock?"

His question was one he already knew the answer to. There was supposed to be more than one guy running towards the vehicle. Hyde reached inside, cranking the ignition and getting ready to roll. The security team would most likely be hot on Brock's heels...

OOC: I'll post some IC stuff tonight but for now Character R Us' Hyde will be helping Brock as will Nivalc. However, I wouldn't make such bold statements ICly Nivalc as the combined power of myself and Aequatio (not to mention I could call in my mutual defense pacts with Avisiron and Alacea if i felt compelled) dwarfs your nation. I see no need for overt hostilities in this RP, we'll proable focus more on special ops type stuff.

In addition I will post an IC acceptance of Aequatian aid as our nations have had long standing military ties and presumably trade ties as well.

Foreign Office
Georgetown, United Kingdom

"Care to take a look at this, Liz,"

Elizabeth O'Connor glanced up from the paper laying flat on her desk and smiled politely at the unkempt, sienna hair of her friend and coworker sitting across from her behind his own desk. She looked at him and the paper in his hands from above the thick, black plastic rims of her stylish reading glasses, slowly taking the crisp piece of middle-weight laser-print paper into her hands. "What is it?"

"Something about a failed assassination attempt in Tolvan," the man replied non-committaly, letting his own gaze fall back upon another item off the wires. "Some cabinet secretary or somebody," he half-muttered.

O'Connor smiled, at least assassinations were relatively uncommon in the usual calm of the Pacific. She and her coworker were among the dozens who worked at the Foreign Office's Pacific Affairs Desk, tasked with reading up on, and providing quick analysis of, current events in the Pacific region that impacted the United Kingdom. Taking the paper, she did a cursory review and made a quick series of annotations that she then summarised into a document on her desktop and e-mailed to her superior.

Several hours later, several floors above the basement where O'Connor did her work, the Foreign Secretary threw his coat upon the free-standing rack just to the right of his door. It had been another long day in the House of Commons where the Opposition continued to hound him and his fellow ministers for information on the extent of the UK's mobilisation of ground, naval, and air forces.

From the small mini-fridge in the corner, he pulled out a bottle of water imported from the Oceanian colony in Port Elizabeth. While many said the water was no different than that from the tap in his private bathroom, Gavin Astley swore to friends and family that he could taste the difference. Either way, it was with that bottle that he settled down behind his desk, pulling out a folder from his in-box so neatly arranged by his secretary. Fifteen minutes into reading and signing off on various papers, memos, reports, and addendums to papers, ancillaries to memos, and appendices to reports, he came to a small brief about the nation of Tolvan.

Like Tolvan, the United Kingdom of Oceania existed as a sovereign state in the Pacific, though the UK was considerably stronger if only because of the billions more people denizens over by the King. Regardless, what caught Astley's attention was the underlying possibility that a heretofore stable, seemingly liberal democracy was potentially imperiled by a failed assassination attempt. While no details were readily available to the United Kingdom for want of any diplomatic representation (and consequently representation by the Royal Intelligence Service), the potential for regional instability worried Astley and would likely worry his colleagues in the cabinet.

With war looming on the horizon for the United Kingdom, Astley knew that the UK could not tolerate instability in its own backyard. Therefore, with a quick swig of imported water, he dipped a wooden-handled stamp into red ink, pressed the notice onto the paper and then signed his name.

By day's end, the notice had been circulated to the appropriate principal private secretaries for the various cabinet ministries concerned with regional stability, namely the Ministry of Defence, the Admiralty, and Trade and Industry. Paperwork began to be circulated, more stamps and signatures, and the wheels of bureaucracy and the civil service began to turn for the affairs of Tolvan, at least as the affairs affected the UK.

By dawn, preliminary reports on the direct and indirect trade between the two nations were laying upon the desk of the Trade and Industry Secretary while estimates of the military strength of Tolvan lay upon the desks of the Defence Secretary as well as the First Lord. Both of whom also received initial estimates on what forces could be deployed to Tolvan in case the worst case scenario, as depicted on the preliminary reports conclusion, Appendix D, Table 3.2 highlighted.

At noon, the secretaries had responded and their principal private secretaries had forwarded the responses to the Prime Minister's chief of staff, who pushed open the door to the Prime Minister's office at 12:20, "sir, do you have a moment?"

"Come in, come in," Rodney Ingrahm waved, dismissing a Royal Navy officer wearing the rank of commander and the insignia of the medical corps. "Concerns of undue stress," the Prime Minister added, attempting to reassure his chief of staff. "What do we have?"

"A minor disturbance in the Commonwealth of Tolvan, sir, a comparatively small nation in the Pacific. Up until this time a stable democracy, however, an attempted assassination of a leading cabinet minister has raised some eyebrows over in the Foreign Office and Gavin thought it important enough to circulate a memo, so," the chief of staff handed his boss a stapled document several pages thick, "the Foreign Office, Trade and Industry, the MoD, and the Admiralty prepared a few briefs looking at the possibility of long and short term disruptions to regional stability. Nothing too serious, we have very scant contact with the nation, but nonetheless, worthy, I believe, of investigating."

"Worthy of a statement or an offer of support?"

"Perhaps, sir, although I would advise a discreet statement of support; committal, but simultaneously ambiguous on the degree of support."

"Can communications have it for me to sign by say," the Prime Minister looked at his wrist watch and silently mouthed a few hours in time. "How about, 15:30. They should get it by end of business day and perhaps have a tentative response for Gavin to review."

"It shall be on your desk by 15:30, sir."

Open Statement
Office of the Prime Minister

While entirely a domestic and internal security concern of the Commonwealth of Tolvan, the failed assassination attempt against Minister Burke by yet unknown criminals, potentially but not certainly the work of an organisation seeking political change, does render the possibility of short and longer term ramifications in a broader, regional aspect that does concern the United Kingdom and His Majesty's Government.

As a fellow democratic power in the Pacific, His Majesty's Government, if requested, shall provide assistance to the Commonwealth of Tolvan in uncovering the masterminds or determined individuals seeking to destabilise the Commwealth government for as of yet undetermined reasons.

Burke’s battered motorcade had promptly been joined by five additional police cruisers within minutes of the attack. Less than ten minutes after that three more SUVs carrying BDS agents had linked up with the convoy and escorted them to Billings House where an emergency meeting of the Cabinet had been called. It took Burke’s motorcade less then two minutes to bypass the layers of checkpoints manned Brayton Police, BDS agents, and 125 recently arrived SAS operators. The security forces had left behind the normal business attire and now openly wore body armor and carried submachine guns and R15C carbines. Nothing short of an infantry battalion could breach the walls of Billings House, and even they would have a horrific time of it.

Once inside, Burke made directly for the Cabinet Room. Once inside he immediately cornered NDI Director Moore and began speaking angrily.

“Who the fuck just tried to kill me and when will I have their heads on my desk?”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Brock dove into the passenger seat of the stolen police car. After assessing his surroundings he turned to Hyde.

“Think you could have stolen something more conspicuous than this?”

**Open Diplomatic Communiqué**

TO: All nations who have issued statements regarding today’s terrorist incident

At 3:15 PM Brayton Standard Time (GMT +15) a group of four armed terrorists attacked and attempted to assassinate Commerce Minister Roger Burke as he traveled to a speaking engagement at the University of Brayton.

The attack was unsuccessful; however two City of Brayton police officers and nineteen innocent bystanders were killed during the course of this attack.

Two of the would be assassins were killed during the attempt and a third was wounded and taken into custody. A fourth suspect, identified as Samuel Richard Brock, is still at large and is believed to be attempting to flee the country. The attackers have all been tentatively identified as members of the Red Workers Army, a militant offshoot of the Tolvanic Communist Party who espouses the violent overthrow of Tolvanic society in favor of a communist system. This information was obtained through our initial interrogation of the captured suspect as well as through information gained through other sources whose nature is classified at this time.

We believe Brock to still be in Brayton at the moment though he will likely attempt to flee at the earliest opportunity. To this end we are taking measures to ensure that his flight be unsuccessful. Brock served three years in the Tolvanic Marines and is to be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

To ensure that he is unable to leave the country we are enacting the following measures:

All air and sea traffic out of the Brayton area will be subjected to additional screening
All travel to nations with communist governments is suspended until further notice
Increased patrols of the air and sea around the Brayton area to prevent any unauthorized traffic in or out

In addition we are currently not sure if Brock and his men acted alone or if they had outside support, steps are being taken to locate anyone, either in the Commonwealth or outside it, who may have aided in planning or carrying out this attack and rest assured they will be punished severely.

Boris Nikolov cursed silently to himself as he watched the evening news. The situation was getting out of hand. Standing, he walked to the window, looking out over the city. Five years ago he had immigrated to Tolvan, an apparently normal immigrant. His background was unremarkable, showing service in the Kilani Army for two years before being dishonorably discharged, followed by four years at Green River University for a BA in law, followed by another four years at graduate school for a masters. After several years struggling for employment, he had applied for immigration to Tolvan. Accepted, he had found work in a civil law firm and had spent several uneventful years practicing law.

However, Boris was an intelligence agent, working for the Central Security Bureau, Foreign Intelligence Division of Kilani. He had been sent to Tolvan to monitor the country and report on the status of communist and socialist politcal groups (and potentially revolutionary groups). Boris was not the only agent in the country, but he knew only one, his handler, who set the times and places of their meetings.

Boris had done his best to monitor the Red Worker's Army and had been nominally succesful. He had known something big was going to happen...But he hadn't know what. Well, now he . He would report back to his handler immediately. Maybe, just maybe, his government could find Brock before the Tolvan government could.

----

The Foriegn Ministry had mulled over how to respond to this attempted killing, as they were a socialist (sometimes called communist) nation. Finally, a statement had been issued.

Diplomatic Communique to the Government of Tolvan

The Federation of Kilani condemns the violent attempt upon Minister Burke's life. During extreme situations, such as under a dictatorship or totalitorian government, then violent revolution may be the only recourse for the people. However, Tolvan is a democractic and peaceful nation, just as our own. Violent overthrow should never be used when the possibility of the democractic process is open. Our two nations may operate under different economic models but the well-wishes of our government and the Kilanian people go out to the families of those killed in the attack. If the Federation can provide any assistance to the Tolvan government, they need only ask.

I have the honor to be,

Hyde's expression didn't change. He'd done this sort of thing a time or two, and he responded while collapsing the stock on the MP5K and tucking it under his cop jacket...

"I'd prefer if you rode in the back, lying down. And no, I didn't steal the most conspicuous vehicle I could find, asshole. That red Lambo back around the corner was a real eye-catcher..."

Hiding in plain sight was usually the best way to get away unimpeded. He'd have preferred an ambulance, but those were big, bulky, and slow. The cop cruiser, on the other hand, had the sort of engine he needed to get his mark out of the country as fast as possible, with as little suspicion provided he did what Hyde suggested. The assassin would handle the rest...

"It'd make it a lot easier, since your face is going to be on the cover of every newspaper and on every TV screen. It'd be best if you weren't seen riding in the front seat of a cop car, much less seen at all in today's age of cell-phone cameras. You'll also be pleased to know that I've arranged for a small brush-plane to take us out of the country, and from there you're on your own. My protection ends when you get off that plane..."

Hyde adjusted the collar of his police blues, a slight rim of black around the starched fabric where he'd cut the man's throat and pitched him forward to bleed out into the footwell of the car. Febreeze killed most of the odor, and the floor was already lined with a dark felt. The small submachinegun went to his right, tucked away but ready for rapid use should he need to employ it...

Dick Garg opened his eyes. It was 3:00 AM, and the sound of his cellullar phone was ringing. He woke up, and answered, "Hello?".
"Dick, it's Mike, we have a situation, and we need you down here at headquarters" sad the man on the other line.
"Give me an hour" replied Dick

Dick Garg drove in his hybrid car down the desolate streets of downtown Hagrat, capital of Nivalc, he reflected quickly on his life: at 16, he had joined the army, quickly moving through the ranks in a special operatives unit. He had performed many covert operations in other nations, and had been promoted to Nivalc's Special Operatives International Team (SOIT). He was the squad leader, and had command of a team of 5 other special operative units. As he pulled into the SOIT headquarters, he noticed that the cars of the other members of his team were also their. Strange, he thought, something big must be happening.

Dick strolled into the meeting room of the SOIT headquarters, and grabbed aa bagel from the tray on the table, as he sat down with the rest of his men.
"Hey Dick, you know what this is about?" asked Jim, the weapons and language specialist of the team. Jim new everything about weapons, and new 15 languages.
"Naw, I got the call from Mike, were is he?" Dick replied.
"Right here" said Mike, as he walked into the room, carrying a large stack of papers.
"Hello Mike" Dick said.
Same to you. Listen, something went down in Tolvan yesterday, and the president has decided to authorize the use of you guys to deliver weapons, money etc. to the so called "terrorists. The man you guys are to make contact with is Samual Richard Brock. He is believed to be the mastermind behind the communist partys alleged "terror attacks" on several Tolvan politicians." Mike stoppped to hand out folders to each of the six men. The folders contained mug shots of Brock, as well as a history of the man.
"So, we have to go into Tolvan, make contact, deliver the goods, and come back? asked Harry, the explosives expert of the group.
"Yes, but it won't be that easy"replied Mike. "Tolvan has pretty muched sealed the country, shut down all movement between countries that are communist, all flights in and out of Tolvan are now subject to extra screenings, and increased patrols of the sea and air".
"So, I guess we sneak in?" said Harry.
"Yes"said Dick, and we have to find a way. Perhaps. we can contact other countrys that are also moving in to help?"
"President Roland wants to keep this hush hush. If you are caught, you know the drill, they can not know that you are from Nivalc."

-----------------------------------------------------------

OK, so what is happening is:
1. A Special Operatives Team will be moving from Nivalc to Tolvan to deliver money, weapons and other items to Brock and his organization. They will stay with him until he is eventually out of the country (if Brock gets out).

The team consists of-

1. Dick Garg - Squad leader, all around knowledge of everything. Veteran of the team, is 35 years in age.

2. Harry Yahet - Explosives expert. Has been in the Nivalc Army Rangers, but switched to SOIT after 9 years of service. Is 29 years old.

3. Jim Jag - Weapons specialists. Anything about guns, he probably knows. Is also the teams medic, so if he is lost, a problem could arise. Age 24

4. Greg Hark - Sniper. Never missed a target in all of his service. Age 28

5. Kyle O'Feal - Radio and technician. He is in charge of the teams satelite radios and other signals, Knows morse code, and just about everything about computers and can hack into just about every computer on the face of the earth.

This team will move out soon. Next post will deal with that. Oh, and sorry if I caused any stir over my last statement. It was not ment to harrm anyone in any way or anything of that nature.

Brock jumped into the back seat without a word.

"Who the fuck does this jackass think he is?" he mumbled under his breath.

Brock may be new at being a urban guerilla, but he'd done his fair share of fighting and killing in the Marines. The only difference was instead of killing for the Tolvanic government, now he killed to change it.

Tolvanic Communist Party Headquarters, Downing, Tolvan

It had taken the 40 man SAS platoon less than seven minutes to secure the entire four story building that served as the Tolvanic Communist Party's headquarters. Most of those inside had surrenderd quickly and were led outside to waiting police vehicles peacefully. Those who cooperated would be treated courteously, interrogated for a few hours, and most likely released. Those who resisted, well the NDI would take care of them.

So far only six of the buildings staff had attempted to fight back, three of them were dead and two more were being loaded into ambulances already, the SAS was under orders to show restraint, but that restraint ended when they were shot at.

All over Tolvan similar actions were being taken as all individuals with ties to the Communist Party, and the Red Workers Army in particular, were detained for questioning. The fastest way to catch a wanted man was to eliminate any means of support he may receive.

Brayton Airspace

The two plane formation of F-35As known as Oscar Six-Niner completed another circular patrol of the city, their 35th such pattern in the last two hours and they still had two hours to go before they were relieved. Oscar Six-Niner was one of fifteen flights of fighters airborne around Brayton at th emoment. If anyone tried to enter or exit the area without approval they'd make it a very short trip.

OOC: Nivalc, Brock will be leaving the country very shortly, so it'd proable be a better idea to try and link up with him in a third nation and try to smuggle him back to Nivalc.

Derrick Hyde knew exactly who he thought he was, a professional killer of the highest caliber, able to get into, and out of, highly secure places. Maybe there had been some military training in his background, maybe not. Maybe his name wasn't Derrick Hyde at all...

One never knew. Hyde, however, had planned this exfiltration like it was the fourth phase of one of his hits, which meant it had to be clean. No shooting his way out of a situation unless he could not avoid using such blatant force...

"Trust me, Mr. Brock. All will be well once we get moving... By the way, how did you explosive ambush work out?"

Hyde knew he was being percieved as a smartass, and he didn't care. He'd already been paid three-quarters of his fee. His tone was smooth, as if discussing last night's baseball game as he flipped on the siren and floored the gas pedal, sending the cruiser rocketing into the street, parting traffic like a blade through butter. They would ride for a few hours before reaching the aircraft Hyde had chartered for their final getaway into nearby New Brittonia. The plane was waiting well outside of any secured zone, and would be flying low and fast to avoid radar. The pilot had been making his pay running drugs past authorities, and was pretty good at his job. One didn't survive in that business for long without considerable skill...

After about two hours of riding, Hyde spoke again...

"You can sit up now, Mr. Brock... But stay low. We're almost there..."

His tone was as even as ever, as if this was another day at the office for him, which it was, come to think of it...

Dick grasped the pull cord for his parachute. He had made several jumps from a high altitude airplane, but since he was a little boy, had been afraid of hights. Dick and his team was parachuting into the forests bordering the nation of New Brittonia and Nivalc, this way, if they were caught, they can blame the landing on a faulty navigation system. He and his team were to go into New Brittonia, and hopefully hook up with Brock, who was supposed to be there. When all of his team had gone through the hatch, Dick jumped, and pulled his parachute cord. It released an olive green parachute, which delivered him safely to the ground.

"Sir, lets go" whispered Harry after Greg finished burying the parachutes. It was about 2:00 AM, and they had three hours until sunrise to get to their objective, a farm house 10 kilometers away. Jim took point, and the team began to walk. Soon, they had fallen into a rythm, and within an hour, they had arrived at the farmhouse. They could see in the house a single candle flicking. Dick took out a light wand, brock it and through it into a field. The candle went out. Dick knew this was the signal.
"Jim, Harry, stay here. Greg, Kyle, come with me." whispered Dick.
The three men picked their way through the field, until they reached the door. Dick knocked, and a man clad in black quickly answered.
"Who goes?" asked the man
"Dick Garg and his team" he replied
"Come on in" said the man.
Both Greg and Kyle looked with questions on his face. Dick smiled and answered, "This is a safe house. The man you see is Agent Fred. He parachuted into New Brittonia when New Brittonia formed. This way, in case of something like this, he could be here to assist us."
With those questions answered, he radioed in for Jim and Harry to come. Five minutes later, the team, reunited, set of into the house.

"You can sleep in the basement, or whatever" said Agent Fred. "I do not have any real news about Brock, except that he is on his way to New Brittonia"
"Which we already knew" I said
"He is also supposed to be acompanied with a man named simply as Hyde. He is believed to have been an assasin for several years. He is sort of suspicion, but Brock trusts him."
"Thanks Fred. I am going to bed. Harry, take first watch. Anything as small as a mouse moves, wake me."
"Yes sir" said Harry. Dick climbed down the stairrs of the farm house and quickly fell asleep.

To: Vladimir Romanov, Minister of Foreign Intelligence (People's Republic of Grryerhan)

My nation is aiding Brock in his attempt to flee Tolvan. Will you assist as well? Your assistance would be greatly apreciated.

OOC: The Red Workers Army is actually just Brock and a handful of others, of which two are now dead and a third in custody. Plus, my forces have rounded up most members of the Communist Party, further eliminating the terrorists' infastructure.

To President Roland

We will gladly provide assistance to Nivalc in ensuring that Brock escapes from Tolvan. Just tell us how and when we can help, and consider it done.

Hyde was quite aware that he was being an ass. He intended to continue to be such, for that was who he was...

"You didn't need more weapons, Mr. Brock. You needed more 'effective' weapons. Instead of all that TNT and the expense of stealing a car, a few pipe bombs made from metal pipes and gunpowder and nails would have done the trick, especially if you'd rolled them under the SUV's. Instead of an AK, you might have opted for something like the Israeli Galili. A little more bang for your buck, if you will. I've got a contact that runs guns all over the world if you're in need of a better supplier..."

He'd have loved to pick apart Brock's ill-fated ambush further, but he decided not to, they were here...

"Ah, but we're here. Our pilot is waiting Mr. Brock, if you will?"

Hyde exited the cruiser, and opening Brock's door on the way to the trunk, withdrew a large rifle-style case that was lying on top of several bricks of composition four plastic explosive. SEMTEX was cheaper, but Hyde preferred the American-made stuff to the Russian compound anyday. The detonator was tucked snugly in his pocket...

"I've got something for you when we land... I know I'm not exactly easy to put up with. Anyway, get on the plane and let's get going..."

Hyde climbed inside the little Piper Cub aircraft, leaving the door open for Brock to do the same. The pilot was already getting the engine warmed up. The little prop-plane was going to be flying low to avoid any radar, so their flight should be otherwise uneventful...

Brayton, Tolvan

Scott Moore, the Tolvanic National Intelligence Director, opened the door the study and quickly walked in. He had just spent the last hour being grilled by Minister Burke over the failed assassination and the search for the remaining gunman. A soft rustling was the first sign he wasn’t alone.

Good, his guests were already here.

Pete, Drew, and Sam were seated in a trio of large leather chairs positioned near the fireplace. The fact that Moore, himself a veteran of the SAS and NDI Special Activities Division, had not detected them until now was a testament to their skill.

“I see you’re as impressive as ever.”

Drew, the trio’s de facto leader, was the only one to speak.

“We do our best sir.”

Moore cracked a small smile.

“Good, I have an assignment for you. You probably already know what it is I trust?”

“Finding and eliminating Samuel Brock I presume sir?”

Moore said nothing, he didn’t need to. The three people seated before him were members of The Outfit. No other name existed since The Outfit officially didn’t exist on any organizational chart or in any documents. In fact, the very existence of such a group would lead to the complete destruction of the NDI and probably the whole government. After all child soldiers were typically frowned on, though that term really wasn’t accurate in this case. The Outfit had been started nearly ten years ago when Moore’s predecessor, the deceased Jeffery Payne, had secretly begun looking for children to undergo a lengthy and rigorous training regimen. He ordered a battery of physical and mental tests ran on every child in a foster home or orphanage anywhere in Tolvan. Only the top 200 were chosen, of those just 45 made it through the training. Those that completed the training became some of the finest assassins the world had ever seen. Members of The Outfit had traveled the world killing the enemies of Tolvan and no one ever knew they were there. To Moore’s knowledge not a single one of The Outfit’s targets managed to evade death, there was no reason to think Brock would be the first.

But to make sure, Moore was sending the varsity, Team Three, the most capable of The Outfit's twelve teams. Its three members had grown up together and were like siblings and between the three could boast of over 200 confirmed kills. Drew and Pete, the oldest members of the team at 20, were also fiercely protective of Sam, who at 18 was one of the youngest members of The Outfit and also the only female in its ranks. Not that she really needed their protection, Sam had 57 confirmed kills, most with her customized 9mm pistol, though Moore had seen pictures of an op were Sam had taken on seven militiamen in Somalia armed with only a combat knife.

Moore still had nightmares about that from time to time.

OOC: I'll get an IC post for Brock up sometime tomorrow.

Brock didn't reply to Hyde's smart ass remarks. He simply boarded the small plane and took his seat. If only he hadn't entrusted the escape plan to this merc he could simply kill him and be on his way, but he needed Hyde. For now.

OOC: The insurgency was really just a handful of extremists, most of whom are dead or in custody and thei leader, Brock, is on the run. I've also rounded up all members of the Tolvanic Communist Party as a precaution and suspended all travel to and from communist nations.

If you're interested in assisting Brock's escape then feel free to talk to the other nations involved or we can discuss a seperate war RP if you're interested in that.

Hyde tapped the pilot on the shoulder, prompting him to take off. The little prop began to spin, pulling the equally small aircraft forward and after a time into the air, just above the treeline. Hyde pulled the detonator out of his pocket, and thumbed the button. A second later an massive explosion shook the little plane, drawing a startled look from the pilot. Hyde simply motioned for him to keep flying and not to worry. The cruiser they'd escaped in was now a crater in the middle of the field where they'd met the plane, all forensic evidence linking Hyde and Brock to it incinerated in the ball of fire. The assassin was nothing if thorough and precise. There was little left to even identify it as a police car, much less a vehicle at all.

The ride was a few boring hours into the next country, with Hyde saying little except flicking the selector switch on the MP5K from burst to full-automatic and back again. They touched down shortly after on an abandoned stretch of road outside a small town. Hyde exited first, followed by Brock as the pilot took off again. He'd already been paid, slipped a crisp stack of currency by Hyde after they'd landed...

"I believe this is where we part ways, Mr. Brock, unless you've got someone you need dead..."

The assassin held the small SMG out to Brock, as a sign of respect. It took some balls to pull off such an ill-fated ambush, and he could respect that, if not his rather crude methods...

"Here, take it. You'll be needing it more than I will. The magazine's full, thirty of my handloaded subsonics topped with Winchester's lethal Black Talon projectile. The surpressor ought to keep things quiet, just don't expect it to penetrate body armor..."

The assassin turned, dropping the police jacket in the middle of the road, followed with the shirt. The slacks were his own, bought to match the color of the uniform but provide an alternate disguise once he shed his police-look. The double-underarm holster displayed a pair of Kimber Eclipse 1911, one the ultra-compact Eclipse Ultra II, and the other the full-size Eclipse Target II. The Ultra had a Knight Armament Corporation surpressor can attatched to its short barrel, Hyde's preferred tool for close-in wet work. The Ed Brown bobtail main spring housing on both weapons reduced their likelyhood of 'printing' through whatever he wore over top of them. He turned back towards Brock, throwing him the badge. It might come in handy, provided no-one got too close a look at it...

"But don't get any ideas..."

Hyde was well aware that Brock was considering killing him, not that that bothered him. Hyde had dealt with such men before, mostly on the surpressed end of his Ultra II in the form of the larger .45 ACP version of his personal handloads...

Somewhere in New Brittonia

Brock watched as Hyde walked away.

"Good riddance," he muttered.

He'd already decided that killnig the man wasn't worth it, he didn't want to piss off his hosts by committing a murder within five minutes of settinf foot on their soil.

Now to find those Nivalcan troops he was supposed to link up with.

Hyde hefted the rifle case onto his right shoulder before starting off down the road, off into the distance, and out of this backwater nation back to one of his many apartments. Brock was an arrogant motherfucker, he decided, and despite handing him an expensive automatic weapon with a full magazine, the man still harbored resentment towards him, not that it bothered Hyde any. It was what made his job that much easier.

After about a mile's walk down the lonely stretch of road, Hyde flipped out a cell phone and tapped in a number...

"Yes, I've got a message for Mr. Scott Moore, Intelligence Director..."

Killing two birds with one stone was always economical, especially if you got paid for killing each bird seperately...

"He's not in? Fine, please tell him Samuel Brock has escaped to Nivalc via aircraft. He's about a mile inside the border..."

There was that frantic pause while the person on the other end of the line tried to write faster than their hands could operate...

"You're quite welcome... You need my name? Oh yes, it's Derrick Cryler, that's C-R-Y-L-E-R... Yes, thank you, have a good day..."

Who knows? There might be a reward for him later on. He'd check in a few days. For now, Hyde kept walking. There was another town not too far up ahead where he was sure he could arrange transportation to the national airport...

OOC: Unless some more people start posting I'm just gonna let this thread die.

Brayton, Tolvan

Within minutes of the call from the mysterious "Cryler" Sam, Pete, and Drew were boarding a NDI aircraft with their prepacked gear. Their destination was the supposed location of Samuel Brock.

Meanwhile at the Ministry of Defence headquarters at Sandhall the Combined General Staff's Operations and Plans Office was pulling together all available information on a nation known as Nivalc and beginning the inital stages of planning for military action should the need arise.

OOC: You want me to throw in a team of my own to keep this going, or do you just want to let it keel over?

I don't care either way, Mr. Hyde just appears in random places for random reasons.

There's also a buddy of mine that can handle the aslym of Brock by hiding him within his little civil war, among the insurgent forces if you're up for that.
