This rp is set in 1878 following the failed Satsuma Rebellion in Japan. Here is where you can sign-up and discuss the rp.

In 1877, eleven years into the Meji Restoration, Japan changed dramatically in this time frame. Once a back water isolatied island nation, ruled by various clans and lords, Japan unified under Emperor Meiji and his supporters. So began a major change in affairs within Japan. It became a single nation and modernized all aspects of culture ranging from society, economy, industry, as well as the military all modernized to compete with the western powers. There were those who resisted this change. The Samurai, a warrior class of land owners and once protectors of the shogun were forced to leave their old ways and change along with the country. They became outlaws and in response, engaged in open revolt. They were crushed later that year buy an overpowering and modern field army at Shiroyama. Those samurai remaining scattered and melted away into society, never forgetting their traditions and history. Some continued to resist in small numbers while most finally surrendered to the new times. Some; however, chose to leave Japan in search of a new life. One samurai, a man called Katsuro Aritomo traveled to the American West in search of peace, but the life of a warrior is a life without peace...

Basically this is like Samurai Champloo and the Wild West thrown into one. My character is a ronin, traveling through the American West and encounters various other characters and ends up in adventures along the way.

OOC: I'm doing this just for the hell of it. The idea popped into my mind and I ran with it, so it's a bit rough right now.

Name: Katsuro Aritomo

Brief History: Not much is known about Katsuro's early life. He grew up in Satsuma Clan and was rasied and trained in the ways of the samurai. He trained all his life, dedicating himself fully to sharpening his skills. He became a skilled swordsman and wise through the teachings of his father. He was young when the Meiji Restoration took place and witnessed his father and brother perish at the Battle of Shiroyama. He took part in the battle and barely manaaged to escape alive, having suffered a bullet wound and a bayonet wound. He hid from government troops until he recupperated and decided to leave Japan, for his kind were not welcomed anymore. So, he snuck onto a ship bound for America, taking nothing but his samurai sword with him he made the periless journey across the ocean to San Fransisco where he worked several odd jobs. AT one point, he killed a man during an altercation and is now an outlaw. He wanders from town to town, his skills for hire.

I like I like. Think maybe you are keen to the idea of Katsuro having a younger sister?

Brief History: Musashi grew up in Tokyo, having been the son of a famous unknown samurai, in some ancient clan, he was taught how to use a katana at the age of 8 years old, and grew into a very proficeant sword fighter, when he was 21, he decided to go to America, where he opened up a saloon in a little town called Tombstone. He had a problem, he got into an altercation with Wyatt Earp, and barely saved himself from a deadly shootout with the famous marshall, so he rode to trail to hell along the outlaw trail for 6 years, having pulled off many robberies successfully, and was a very good shot. Then, the Texas Rangers recruited him, not wanting to fight against him.

So then when he started as a Texas Ranger, he met the famous Mora gunslinger Tyrel Sackett, who gave him a few pointers on how to shoot better, and he took the name Musashi Del Sackett, in honor of the Sackett brand, and is very close to them.

Yeah, the Sackett guy is from the Louis Lamour books, a famous Western Writer, and I kind of combined Mushashi's skill, with Chick Bowdrie, and Tryel Sackett's skill, so basically, I made him, but combined two characters skill to make him, I am a big fan of Western stuff, so this RP is right up my alley. I enjoyed writing Mushashi's bio.

I like Western literature and culture very much as well. I never read his books but I saw the movies based off them.

OOC: Yeah, I have all 108 of his books infact, alot of them, I think it'll take me a while to read all of them, he's got very good plots for them. How many people do you need to sign up until we can kick off the RP?

Brief History: Born to Ethnically Dutch parents in New York who then travelled South to oversee work on the Pacific West Railroad, being raised around such violent people and having seen the opening of many filthy towns the young Alfonso slowly began to take part in less orthodox circles.

When he was 16 he gained notoriety for having cleared out the bank at Red Track City, shortly after he came under the tutorage of noted Gunslinger and Trainjacker Alfred Black, his mentor would often take him on risky missions to rob banks or Trains which gave Alfonso his current hardyness under pressure.

Black was murdered one night in cold blood by an Indian tribe with whom Black had previously insulted, Alfonso managed to slip away taking with him his tutors pistols, name and fearsome reputaion.

First off, there was a game called Samurai Western. I rented it, thinking it would be the best idea ever. The game sucked.

Now that I've got that off my chest, I have to say I still think it's a great idea!

Name: Kasigi Hitoshi (name used in the traditional japanese way, surname first, so his first name is actually Hitoshi)

Age: 26

Height: 5'5"

Weight: 152 lbs.

Hair: Dark Brown, almost black. Cut medium length, left as it lies, sometimes tied back

Weapons: A blade forged by the legendary swordsmith Masamune Okazaki named Yawaraka-Te (Tender Hands). His wakizashi, Juuchi Fuyu (10,000 Winters), has the exact same white scabbard and green lether binding as his Katana.

Style: Hitoshi uses the style set down by Miyamoto Musashi in his Book of Five Rings: Hyōhō Niten Ichi-ryū. This style makes the practicioner use both his Katana and Wakizashi at the same time, making him quite deadly.

Bio: Kasigi Hitoshi was once a great Samurai who served for the Tokugawa Shogunate. He was rewarded for his efforts against all threats to his leige lord, and stood by the Shogunate's side during the great battles between tradition and change, between samurai and Western ideals. He had almost attainedthe title of daimyo, until the Battle of Toba-Fushimi, the last clash of the Meiji Rebellion which obliterated any hope of retaining the Shogunate. That was nearly 10 years ago.

Hitoshi saw many of his fellow warriors die on that battlefield due to the infernal weapon known as tanegashima: the gun. Though samurai were trained in its use, Hitoshi abandoned all use of the barbaric tool. In fact, Hitoshi was one of the practicioners of a new style of swordsmanship, Tenpu-Kosai-Ryu Kai: a style designed to combat the gun. Only one with a quick reaction time, a steady hand, great patience, and blinding reflexes can master it. To that extent, Kasigi Hitoshi is quite an adept pupil, once actually blocking a bullet. However, due to new inventions, even this sword style cannot truly protect him.

Now a ronin, with the Meiji Restoration sweeping away everything he had ever known, Hitoshi almost committed seppuku in order to avoid the humiliation of handing in his swords. However, he had heard from a gaijin that the American West was taking on the shape of feudal Japan: Barons daimyos controlled most of the power, men with weapons fought duels for honor, and plenty of opportunities lay around for honorable service.

Debating about it, Kasigi Hitoshi cut his top-knot: the sign of the ronin, and decided to take the next foreign ship he could to a land of opportunity. He arrived in the American state known as California, and began to look for anything that could catch his interest ...

Great character Nueve Italia, quite detailed and with plenty of facts and such. I never heard of Samurai Western before, though.

Okay, that's enough ronin samurai. There's still plenty of roles though for anyone interested.

Thank you for the compliments. I did a report on the Japanese feudal ages, running from the claiming of Honshu from the Horselords all the way through the battle between Fujimara and Minamoto and up to the Meiji Restoration.

That was a really long paper too ... I was in 9th grade and it came out to about 19 pages ...

Wandering throughout the West on stagecoaches, horses, trains, or just on foot, Malcom goes town to town catching bounties and sorting out problems, or making more, depending on how you look at it.

Occupation: Rum-Runner/Smuggler for the local barkeep, also has a distillery in his house.

Bio: Juan is origionally from Mexico, but was brought up to town by his parents when he was very young. His brothers back in Mexico have a Blue Agave farm which is the main reason he got his job with the local barkeep at age 17. He frequently makes trips to and from the border to pick up tequila and other alcoholic drinks from his brothers to sell to the barkeep. He also maintains a small Blue Agave farm outside of town where he maintains a good-sized crop of the plants for his own special brew.

Brief Bio: Not much is known about Murdock's early life. It is rumored that his family was murdered during a feud with a local cattle baron. He escaped and was found by a local gunsmith who took him in. While there, he learned how to make weapons and on his own time, learned how to shoot as well. Finally, a few years ago, he left the gunsmith to seek out the men responsible for the death of his family. Along his way, Murdock worked as a hired gun and even a bounty hunter from time to time but is determined to kill all those who were involved.
