So, there's been plenty of interest in this idea. The idea being:

Putting all 03-04 nations together and into a war against all 05-06-07 nations in MT. This war will have no permenate damage - at the end of the war, everything goes back to normal. This will allow you to continue your current war RP's/rebuilding/etc without any problem (unless you enjoy a challenge) We want EVERYONE from MT in on this RP! :)

The whole object here is simply...
To have fun in a war that is not permenate
To improve your team work/RPing/strategy/etc

Jarridia and I are looking for some extra hands to help get this planned and on a roll. After all, we are looking to get most - if not all - of the MT RPing community involved in this massive "wargame".

So, anyone looking for a challenge on setting up what could be the largest every single war in NationStates history, come forth and give us a hand.

Update on Rules/Plans
1. There are to be no mass nukings! A nuke here and there are fine, and tactical nukes are fine, as are chem/bio weapons. However, no mass nukings! If you do so, it'll simply be ignored.
2. There will be set fronts to keep this war from getting out of hand in the way of threads. Each thread will be a set front. If you would like to suggest a front - be it a region of the world, or even your specific nation, let us know! (Example: the nation of Brutland and Norden; or the region of the Mediterranean Sea) Please do not simply just start a new thread randomly without consulting myself or Jarridia.
3. No orbital bombardments or the like. They, too, will be ignored.

There will not be many rules. This is to be a mostly free-flowing RP. However, to keep it from getting out of hand, there are a few guidelines and rules as listed above.

What about the '02 nations?

I mean, there aren't a terribly large number of them, but they're here.

I'd be interested, but i prefer PMT so i'll be a bit iffy on what i can and cant use...

God, I haven't even seen '02s in so long, I didn't know they still actively RP'd.. must be VERY few... in which case, they're on the 03-04 side.

Well I dont think it should be set places where the battles take place, once you get the final count of nations, you should draw up a quick map and devide it into regions(a separate thread for each region).

Something tells me we'd need to do a daily summary too because this'll probably move so fast nobody will know wth is going on (even within the smaller fronts). That and perhaps so it doesn't become a "gang-fest" we just limit the # of people per front?

Not a bad idea. Ya, it may move pretty fast, and even if it doesn't, by sheer size it'll be hard to keep track of it. But, all the more fun, right? lol :p

cool, i'm rping a civil war in my nation using mostly an urban terrorism method against a conventional military

So i'd like to rp in an urban front, but I do want a mountain/tundra front because that sounds fun. Id also like to have massive naval battles using modern naval aircraft, only because there hasn't been any good naval battles with big ships since WWII.

Would puppet wars be acceptable(intra-regional puppet forces) and if so I'm willing to offer up a large portion of my region and regionslaves for a battlefield.

Also what is the expectant 'maximum' length for post turnaround as on occasion I know a day may pass between posts due to things like work and I'm sure others have like problems(especially as in such a large thread group events might transpire quite rapidly)

I thought the Idea is to go at it with are main nations. That I am in for.
Remember this is essentially a war game where everything resets when it ends.
I can't wait I plan on trying some new tactics and gear.

by PMT i mean gauss weaponry, and some funky effects that make my tanks insane, way beyond 2020 tech... i usually balance it by having screw all army, but thats out this time. i'll go back to current UK army tech, but with an army in the hundreds of millions. also count me in although i'll usually be a bit slow to post for this kind of thing.

Sure thing, assuming we do the fronts. Most people are in agreement, but there's a couple not. We'll see how this works out. :)

Basically, think of my military as a combination of 2007 US and Russian military, with a few interesting names thrown in to keep me from being bored. Right now, my land forces are mainly defense, but I have a decent navy and air force, as well as space based surveillance tech (my "bleeding edge" stuff).

I RP actively with a population of just under 1.3 billion because almost 8b is just too many people for me to feasibly deal with, would that be a limiting factor?

Layarteb is MT on the edge of 2012 (what I'd personally consider the end of MT). We have some "Russian" systems but with non-Russian specs to them (i.e. I used a russian plane Su-34 for my F-46 but the specs are not that much the same). A lot of my stuff is NS bought or personally made by myself and it's mostly Americanish.

Kilani is about 2010-2012. Modern Russian tech, with some more advanced things thrown in.

Rodenka is pretty much 2010 or so German/US tech. Considering giving my boys XM8s instead of the G-36.

I fear my tech is too PMT for this, and besides, I'm about to be in a pretty big war that I will have to divert most of my resources to elsewhere. So, good luck with your plan. Yes most likely it is. On NS there's gotta be a dozens upon dozens of people who just claim the same stuff because it's too many people to please you know. I've never been terribly creative with making a map of my own territory so I have to be uncreative and unoriginal and just use RL stuff.

I'll join in this. My military technology isn't quite up to snuff (basically MT, but with an underdeveloped missile program), but I've got an army with plenty of practical experince and a lot of chemical weapons to throw around. I've also got a decent map on my NSwiki page, so my territory is fair game once this gets underway.

I'll do it. My nations' map is on my region's NSWiki (Eternia). The region is just me, and my puppets, so ignore everything except the northernmost, let's just pretend the rest doesn't exist. It's a fictional island of unspecified size in the Pacific Ocean. The country consists of a number of small towns and two megalopolises (pops of 50 and 75 millions).

As stated before I am in. When do we plan on starting?

IDK how many others might've had similarly-long deletion spells early on, but that one presents me with an interesting dilemma regarding which side to join even if I did as can be imagined.:p

At the moment, it's 4.25:1, so 6 of the '03s will have 4, and 2 will have 5.
That is, assuming we keep it even...

well that seems fair, because the '03 etc nations will have about 5 times the military size then an '07 anyway...

Yes, well, even if I weren't busy with the war in Haven I wouldn't join this war. I want no part of any war that has a ruleset that practically encourages the tactical use of nuclear weapons but at the same time doesn't allow orbital bombardments (which aren't anywhere near as damaging as any nuke) or disproportionate nuclear responses. Frankly I like the system in the Haven war a lot better; no use of nuclear weapons unless the targeted nation specifically agrees (which means the use thereof has to be planned), everything else is fair game.

Well, seeing as I tend to dabble in PT more than anything else, prefer to RP with nations I know (both factors tending to avoid rampant wankery and godmod), and occasionally make an appearance in real life as well, I'm not surprised you've never heard of me. Nor am I particularly bothered.

Ignore cannons should not be so readily used... Roleplay is all about making a good story, not just reverting it if someone does something out of line. Of course the latter will happen, however it should only be used in extreme moderation and on very rare occasions.

Well anyway, Brutland and Norden can accommodate two fronts, one in Brutland, one in Norden, or one large melee. (good luck with me, first time RPer. haha.)

Perhaps we can have on IC and OOC thread for each front. In the OOC thread we can have a limited number of people sign up (ex. 1-2 02/03/04 nations; and 7-9 05/06/07 nations) then they'll post in the IC thread. So, even if they had not caught up with this thread they can still join. ;)

Due to a couple large situations I'm in, I do not currently have the time to set this up. Are there 2-3 nations with lots of RP experience willing to take this task over?

My time committment can only be a bit patchy, so i'd rather not be involved in setting it up, because I wont be able to help much, also i'm not really all that experienced at NS MT.
