Personal Ad:
Dear People,
My name is Roxanne A. Balkenende, I'm a single-mother-widow farmer living in Alborio. I have two children and honestly could use a bit of help. My children are certianly well behaved mind you but running a farm between the three of us is not easy.
I'm seeking:
A man, preferably two-three years older. (No more than three years younger) Should be strong and good with children. Must be a baptized Christian and active church goer. Naturally he has to be acustomed or desired to country-life. He should be fluent in Dutch though I can accept French. If you think you fit the description please come to Alborio to see I chose to court you. I do have an e-mail however it's usually difficult for me to get to an internet cafe. I will try my best however. my adress: blondeangel@cyberworld.albo
My home adress in the country: The Town of Biezelinge, #114. You should be able to find it as there is a big windmill due northwest of where you would approach.
Thank you so much,
Roxanne Balkenende

It has come to my attention you seek a husband, and I offer myself as a candidate. I come from the nation of Rhodesian Africa and I am of Boer descent. I speak fluent Afrikaans, Dutch and English. For years, I lived on a farm so I see no worry in adapting to a farm in your nation. You ask for a Christian husband, and I tell you that I am a baptized Reformed Christian, and an active church goer.
I am a single parent, if you would not mind it, for I raise a daughter from my previous marriage. My daughter can tell you in person that I am good with children. I hope you will consider me as an acceptable suitor, and I hope you find yourself a loving and caring husband.
Sincerely,
V. Jewell

Vincent Jewell and his daughter, Elizabeth had gotten onto the small plane they charted and landed at an Alborio airport in the mid afternoon. Since it was the season of Spring, Vincent and Elizabeth dressed in spring clothing, they had clothing for all four seasons.
From the airport, they took a taxi to the New Amsterdam Train Station, where they waited for Ms. Balkenende to arrive, as they waited they got a good look at their surroundings and thought about how their meeting with Ms. Balkenende and her children would be like.

Vincent smiled at Roxanne and introduced himself to Roxanne. "Yes, I am Vincent Jewell, and this is my daughter Elizabeth." Elizabeth came forward and greeted Roxanne before they got ready to go to Roxanne's home.
"Hi Elizabeth it's a pleasure. Well the train will take us so come along. Let me take that bag for you." They boarded the train which steamed out.
"Alborio is kind of intresting the way it's mixed modern and early-modern styles together. I suppose it's a lot like Ireland in the early days. My farm is the same way pretty old fassioned. So how old are you Elizabeth?"

As they rode in the train, Vincent and Elizabeth listened to everything Roxanne said about her nation, it was quite informative. "I am fourteen years old." Elizabeth said to Roxanne as she looked out the window, looking at the plains and farmlands of Alborio's countryside.
"Well you are just a year younger than my son. Two years younger than my daughter."

"Your nation is quite beautiful." Elizabeth said to Roxanne while looking around. "Hopefully I get to see more of Alborio."
"That's right. Rosette, that's my daughter will be going on 17 in a month. And I'm glad you think the country is lovely. I've lived here my whol life and it still never fails to make me sit in awe."

It would be some time before the train reached its destination, so Elizabeth took out her journal and began writing in it for a couple of minutes.

Vincent and Elizabeth got aboard the wagon and as Roxanne drove the wagon to her home, they got a good look around, looking at all the buildings and people. It would be some time until they got to their destination, so Elizabeth and Vincent thought they would spend the time by getting a look at the city.
"Before our first court tonight, I'd thought I'd get dressed and take a bath. And you will get to meet my children."
They arrived at the farm in due time. The sun was already preparing to move into setting position. In the barn Rosette and her brother Joshua we're playing around. Joshua had tied a rope to a flimsy bit of wood on the celing. "Joshua, I really don't think that's going to work."
"Trust me sis, I know what I'm doing." He swung and fell flat on his back as the wood broke. "Ouch."
"Told you." Rosette helped him up. They heard the sound of the approaching wagon. "Sounds like Mama is home." Both ran out to greet their mother and see her new guest.
"Vincent, these are my two children, my daughter Rosette and my son Joshua."
Rosette gave a courtsey and Joshua shook his hand. "This is Vincent and his daughter Elizabeth."

Elizabeth gave a courtsey to the children while Vincent shook Joshua's hand. "It is nice to meet you both." Vincent said to Rosette and Joshua.
Vincent walked over to Roxanne and said. "Perhaps during our courtship, Elizabeth could spend time with Rosette and Joshua."
"Absolutley. Will you?"
"Yes Ma'am." Rosette complied.
"Why don't you let me show you inside." She led them into the small farm house. It was a single story house with 3 bedrooms. "My husband was planning on adding a room to the house before he died. All right you two make your selves at home and I will get ready. I won't be long so you can wash up after me if you like."

Vincent looked at Roxanne and listened to what she said to him. He did not mind her fixing herself up for a moment. "I give you my condolences for the passing of your husband." Vincent said to Roxanne in a sincere voice. "It is painful when loved ones perish."
Vincent decided to look around the house, he felt it was quite comfortable. As for Elizabeth, she was also getting a look around the house, looking at the pictures on the wall, depicting Roxanne's family. She hoped to get a look at the whole house, as she knew she would be staying her for quite a while.
Rosette sat next to her mother as she bathed. "Do you like him?"
"Well I do have a very good feeling about him. The same one I felt when I courted your father."
"You think he'll like it hear after all..."
"He will sweetheart."

Joshua showed Elizabeth around the house a little more. Including some of the photos. A few of which were collected in an unusuall manner. They had found a few intact general pictures (of ships and the ocean and stuff like that) After a twister blew threw. Josh figured better not scare her yet.
"You like? Yeah we like to collect art pictures."
"Sir if you would like to use the wash room you may." Rosette said polietly.

As he waited, he was thinking about the courtship, he hoped that everything would go good and that there would not be any problems.

Elizabeth walked with Joshua, looking at the pictures and getting more knowledge about the house. "Your pictures are nice, but they seem to be mostly pictures of ships, etc." Elizabeth said to Joshua. She liked exploring the house, just so she could get a look around in where she would be staying for a while.

Vincent listened closely to the story, it reminded him of his wife's passing. After Roxanne finished her story, Vincent thought he should open up more and tell Roxanne about the story of what happened to his wife.
"My wife had told me that she was going to the market to buy some food for the night, because we were celebrating Elizabeth winning a scholarship at her school. My last words to her were a declaration of my love for her. Elizabeth and I waited for her to come home, but she did not come home on time. "A B&B would be nice, but I am thankful that at least we have a mattress to sleep on." Vincent said.
"Yes I would have booked you in when you arrived but they were all filled up. But they will be cleared out tomorrow so no need to worry."

"That is alright, it is nice that we will be able to find a B&B to stay in. Shall we set up the mattress now?" Vincent said to Roxanne.
Elizabeth had just left to get changed into the nightgown she brought. Vincent would change into his night clothing himself after they set up the mattress.
"All right there you are." Roxanne finished setting up everything. "I gave you my extra pillow, and Rosette is giving hers to Elizabeth."

"Thank you for providing us with somewhere to sleep."
Vincent left to change into his night clothes a couple of minutes after Elizabeth came back to the living room, dressed in her light green nightgown, which had designs and decorations on it.
After saying good night, everyone went to sleep for the night.
A pretty stormy night as they all slept the night away. Lots of thunder and lighting with the sound of pouring rain clanking against the roof. As morning came the rain still fell. Roxanne awoke bright and early buttoned up her raincoat and laced up her boots and prepared to brave the rain. She passed the still sleeping Elizabeth and Vincient. In a typical motherly fassion and habit Roxanne pulled the blanket up further on Elizabeth and creeped out the door.
She made it to the B&B in town. "Help you ma'am."
"I would like a room for two please."
"I see, you're in luck a room just opend up."
"Two beds?"
"Yes ma'am, cash or check?"
"Cash."
Roxanne fished out the money from her deep coat pockets. "Sorry some of this is wet."
"All right. Is that all?"
"Yes sir. Thank you."
Roxanne made her way back to the farm. Everyone seemed awake now. She removed her hat and shook her hair lose. "What rain."

Vincent smiled at Roxanne when his eyes saw her come inside from the rain. "Is it raining heavily?" Vincent asked. "How did the B&B go?" Elizabeth asked curiously, remembering the conversation from last night.
Vincent nodded and re-asked the question, he was sure though that Roxanne was able to reserve them a room. "By the way, what will be doing today, Roxanne?" Vincent asked.
"It went great, you two have a very nice room. And well with the rain," She sighed "I was hoping to get plowing done today but sadly it doesn't look like it. Anyway did you two sleep all right through the storm?"

"Thank you for obtaining us the room, also we slept alright through the night's storm."
"That's good to hear. And you're most welcome."

"That's good to hear. And you're most welcome."
"Since there is a storm, I suppose we will have to change our plans for today." Vincent said.
"Yeah. Hopefully it will clear up by later, if not well you might be stuck here another night."
"You know, Ma likes walks in the rain," Rosette coaxed to Vince.
"Rosette....Well she is right, I do love a good long walk in the rain."
"Then it's settled. You two should have a nice walk together."

"A nice walk in the rain does sound like an alright thing to do. Shall we go?" Vincent said, offering Roxanne his hand.
"Yes, I would love to go." Both put on coats and boots and went out for their walk. Roxanne giggled lightly when they stepped into the rain. "Oh my, I haven't done this in a while."

"This is quite nice." Vincent said as they walked together through the rain. He later offered his hand to Roxanne as they walked, if she wanted to hold his hand, he had no problem with that.
She took his hand and smiled at him.
