GDINC-PF Flotilla, 25 nm off the shores of Saipan and Tinian

Rear Admiral Kurill stood aboard the Kirov, the Flagship of the flotilla and looked out over the Pacific Seas. Saipan and Tinian, his objectives, sat on the horizon before him, the green of their jungles showing above the blue seas. He ordered the recorded message to be sent to the leader of the islands.

Attention,

We are the Gründer Defense Industries Naval Command-Pacific Fleet Flotilla charged with our mission on your islands. We want this mission to be without incedent to either of us, and hopefully no casualties will arise. Our demands are as follows.

1. The Islands of Saipan and Tinian shall become a Protectorate of Gründer Industries under the name of the Commonwealth of Saipan and Tinian (COSAT)

2. We will be allowed to expand your port facilities in order to accomodate our Pacific Fleet and Maritime Operators.

3. You will retain Autonomy on all regional issues, but in any dire circumstances Gründer Industries will decide what is best for both of us.

4. If you do not accept these terms, we will unfortunately have to take over by force.

5. Your people will be treated as equals and will retain all rights granted to them previous of our takeover.

6. $10 Billion will be granted to your islands as compensation.

Choose wisely, sir, for either great prosperity or great sorrow awaits you and your people.

The Imperium of Dweladelfia Prime is outraged with this blatant imperialism. We demand that your fleet withdraws from the Islands of Saipan and Tinian. The Dark Lord Carrier Strike group is in the area of Saipan and Tinian. If any hostile action is taken towards these islands we will be forced to Intervene.

Transmission to the Dwaladelfian Fleet Admiral:

From Admiral Kurill

We view this threat from you as unnessecary and unprovoked. Not only does the Imperium not have business with these islands, but you do not understand our overall goal. These islands are defenseless and vulnerable, and we are offering Protectorate status to them along with a $10 Billion in exchange for the right to house our Pacific Fleet there. No harm to the people of these islands will occur, and we assure you that all power issues will be fairly dealt with.

Very well, but if the Islands refuse your offer, you must accept there wishes. If you don't.... Then there will be problems.....

All I have to say is that my fleet will do everything in its power to convince the Islands to peacefully join. And trust me, there is a lot of soft power in the CEO's arsenal.

The An Islands

President Abukar was reclining in his office when his secretary rushed in. "Sir, an urgent message for you! It appears Gründer Industries wishes us to give them our soveriegnty!"

The President shot up in his chair. "WHAT! Tell them to fuck off! We won't take that crap from anyone."

The secretary sighed. "Sir, would you look out your window?"

The President did as he was asked. From his coastal office, he could see a lot of ocean. However, this time, there were large black ships blocking the horizon. "What the hell are those? How did they get here! Whose are they?"

"Sir, that is the fleet of Gründer Industries. They will blow us into submission if we don't surrender."

"Gimme that message!" The president said, snatching it from her hand. He read it over. He looked up with tears in his eyes. "When I took this post, I swore never to surrender, gve up. But faced with that or the prospect of dying in a massive bombardment, I would rather surrender."

The secretary came over and put an arm around him. "Sir, what ever you decide, our nation will follow you."

The president shrugged off her arm, and began to write out a letter.

Dear Gründer Industries Council of Executives,

It is with great sadness that I write this letter. You offer me no choice. My nation I lay before you. As President of the An Islands, I agree to your offer.

Sincerely,
President Abukar

We are pleased that you have made the right choice. Welcom to Gründer Industries.

On the Islands

The 15,000 mercenaries landed on the nice sandy beaches and moved up into the main population centers of the islands. Martial Law was ordered until everything was under control, at which point in time the engineers would arrive and begin port expansion.

Meanwhile, Vladimir Rovanovic was appointed Viceroy of the COSAT and was immediately flown in to take his command.

Despite previous good relations, we must declare our utmost distaste with the actions of Grunder Industries.

You claim that Dweladelfia has no business with the islands - you do, we presume?

We demand explaination for this abhorrent attack on a nation's sovereignity - immediately. Whilst we strive to ensure that nations are kept on a friendly level, such actions like these will test our patience severely.

At the very least, we request that we be allowed to send inspectors to report on your activities and ensure no harm is done to civilians - after such an action, your word is no longer sufficient.

Regretfully Yours,

The decision was quite simple: COSAT was at a strategic location, had no military, and we needed a full-year port. We offered them a lump sum as well as other perks to turn them into a Protectorate of Gründer Industries, and in exchange we got our port. They shall keep their full soveriegnty except in times of dire defense in their region where power will be overrided to Viceroy Rovanovic.

We do not wish to damage our relationship with your nation, so we have come out clear. No strings attached.

Very well. In the interests of international relations, we shall take your word for this situation. However, you must understand, that you will have a much more difficult task diffusing this situation with other nations. With that in mind, we would like to repeat our request for inspectors to be allowed to the islands, to observe the conditions of the civilians. No military information will be gathered - only what you are doing in regards to civilian welfare.

We feel that this would most certainly allow other nations to see you as more respectable, if Human Rights were upheld.

The Inspectorate would consist of one Consul Minora, an aide, one doctor, and a driver (or you may supply your own - however, any censorship other than of military installations will not be taken lightly).

We hope that you will accept this offer - we are thinking of international relations and the welfare of the people.

Yours,

Camille Lafayette

We would be happy to allow your inspectors into the COSAT. For increased freedom, we will allow you to pick a guide from a local, non Gründer Industries source. We must warn you before you come that for the next three weeks there has been Martial Law emplaced to maintain order during the engineer movements into Saipan for the harbor expansion project. The same reasons stand for the renovation of the airfields on Saipan and Tinian.

Excellent. We are overjoyed that you have allowed us this opportunity, not least in that it shall no doubt promote good relations between our nations, and hopefully others.

Our ambassador will be deployed on an BAS (Barronian Air Service) flight, and landing permission would be most appreciated.

Yours,

Camille Lafayette
