I'll begin this thread by saying that it is, one, completely out of character, and two, just a very rough idea. While playing a game of Crusader Kings (an amazing game by Paradox Interactive), an idea hit me like a ton of bricks. This idea was one for a roleplay that could be done on these very forums. What is this idea, you ask?
We begin play on 26th of December, 1066. The observant among you will notice that this is the day after Christmas. The observant and knowledgeable among you will notice that this is a day much more significant than the winding down of a holiday - this is the day after William I, the Conqueror, the
Bastard, and the Duke of Normandy was crowned King of England after his decisive win at the Battle of Hastings, ending the Norman Conquest.
This event forever changed the course of history, solidifying Norman rule within Europe, and creating an insanely colorful and interesting political situation. Many former Anglo-Saxon nobles were to be stripped of both their lands and their titles, replaced by Norman lords and ladies whom William hoped would be more loyal to his cause.
In addition to this, political relations between the Normans and French became very complicated and somewhat hostile. The Normans still retained control of the holdings in Normandy and were thus still vassals to the King of France. At the same time, they were their equals as King of England. On the one hand they owed fealty to the King of France, and on the other hand they did not, as they were peers.
Now that that's out of the way, I would like to put something else out there - I don't think I will be capable of running this on my own. If there is significant interest, and someone else offers to help out, I will try to run it, though.
Alright. That's the end of my speech. Can I get your opinions?
