Eternal Father, Strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave?
Who bid'st the mighty Ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to thee,
for those in peril on the sea.
O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
and calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!
Most Holy spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!
O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee,
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
Sailors gathered in the galley singing the words to a navy Hymm. Sailors play cards, eat, and gossip during there off hours off onboard the IDS-Henry M. Jackson an Ohio Class SSBN. Those sailors not on break tend to there duties on board the Submarine. Some work on the bridge manning sonar stations, While others tend to the large nuclear reactor onboard.
Commander Williamson stood over a large map that indicated water depths for the navigation of the submarine. He plotted there course from there present location (North Sea) all the way back the NSB Kings Bay. They would be returning after a 2 month patrol in the Artic Ocean. Commander Williamson was anxious to get back home to meet his new baby that was born almost 3 weeks ago. As he continued to plot there course sonar technicians were busy making sure that the submarine did not run into any objects at sea. The Henry M. Jackson was carrying 24 Trident II nuclear missiles. If any of these were lost, it would mean an International Incident.

STS 2 Adams was on Sonar duty at his station. His eyes were glued to the screen watching for any activity. For the last 2 and half hours nothing has happened. “Another boring watch.” Adams thought to himself. Adams was 27 years old from Chicago. He had grown up dreaming of working on a submarine. He enlisted as soon as he got out of High School. Now he is a Sonar Technician aboard the Henry M. Jackson, his dream job. Whether his watch was boring or not he would complete it to the best of his ability.
Another 20 minutes pass, nothing... Time to check in. "STS 2 Adams, Sonar Station 2 All Clea..." Something stopped him in the middle of the sentence. His sonar screen lost power. He now could see nothing. This was very bad. If the submarine's sonar was not working they would be blind. "This is STS 2 Adams, my sonar has shut down, and I repeat my Sonar has shut down, Over."
Similar calls had been radioed from other sonar stations. All Sonar on the Henry M. Jackson had stopped working. Executive Officer Carlson began to issue orders. "Take us to general quarters, wake the skipper, and get us to the surface, NOW!" "Aye Aye Sir!" Sailors quickly took the steps to surface the submarine. Nothing happened. The sub would not surface. "Sir we aren’t surfacing. The read outs on the ballast tanks are flat." Before the XO could react a huge sound echoed through the submarine. A large noise that sounded like metal ripping apart. The Henry M. Jackson had hit a rock formation, and was taking on water fast. "Get damage Control teams down to the breach and get it fixed. STAT! Tell engineering I want those ballast tanks fixed now. If not we all die. And I thought I Ordered you to wake the captain." "Sir, the section that was hit is the section the captain’s quarters is in." "Damn it. Damage report." "We have flooding in all compartments. The whole Sub will be filled with water in 5 minutes."
Leaks began to spring all through the bridge. Surly enough in 5 minutes the whole submarine was filled with water, and its crew drowned. The USS- Henry M. Jackson was now stranded at the bottom of the North Sea.

OOC: As the UK, is this open? Will delete if not. If yes, can I have detected the sub by sonar, or is your government planning to contact someone?

BSS Splendid. One of the three SSN North Sea Patrollers. Currently making 20 knots through the North Sea.
"Dive another 100ft, we're approaching major shipping."
"Aye Captain. Diving 100ft."
"Captain, something on sonar. Large metal structure, approximately 1 click ahead. Looks to be a ship, maybe another submarine."
"A submarine? Can we get a location?"
"Aye sir, it's...resting on the sea bed."
"On the sea bed."
"Aye sir."
"Okay, give us one pass, get a more detailed search. Let Hydrographics know, get a ship sent out here."
"Aye sir."
Passing over the vessel, the sonar details that it is infact a submarine. Hydrophonics report no engine noise whatsoever. The captain is worried.
"Right, looks like we got a downed submarine. Get Hydrographics, and SaR, we'll need an LR.5 Rescue Team. Phonics, keep an ear out, sonar, keep an eye. Anyone that comes near it gets hailed. This is now an accident scene."
"Aye sir!"
Within two hours, a hydrographics vessel is on the scene. However, high command has instructed that no action is to be taken until the owners of the submarine have been found. To the sailors, unknowing of the tragedy that has befallen the crew of the down sub, time is running out.

TO: All Nations
We have located a downed submarine in the North Sea, and wish to proceed with rescue action. We would, however, like to seek permission from it's owner to enter the submarine.
We request that the nation to whom this submarine belongs approaches the Barronia Office for International Affairs immediately.

Urgent Message to Barronia Office for International Affairs
The downed Submarine you have found belongs to the Imperium Navy. We currently have a Carrier Strike force on its way to the location of the shipwrecked sub. Do not enter the sub, we repeat, do not enter the sub. Doing so would be an act of war.

OOC: Anyone else wanna get in on this? I mean theres 24 Trident missiles down there. Nobody wants to try t get a grab on them? Trying to get the blood flowing on this earth. lol

OOC: Dude, I am not fighting you. At least, not just yet. I'd like to keep my nation alive longer than the first week or so. :p
"What the hell do they mean, 'do not enter'?"
"They claim it will be an act of war, captain. We're not violating their wishes on this - fighting Dweladafia means national suicide."
"I don't give a ruddy damn. Who knows when they'll show up? Get me a link to their Defence Minister."
5 minutes later, on a secure line:
"Minister, I don't believe you understand the severity of the situation at hand. You currently have God-knows how many men at the bottom of that sea, and you're telling us we can't rescue them? I trust you realize that by the time your forces arrive, they're going to be dead? Hell, preliminary scans show shredding along the underside - they hit a rock formation. If you care for your sailors at all, allow us into the submarine. Hell, we'll work with whatever conditions you give us - robotic equipment, ship searches once you arrive - just let us get those men out of there - or at least, whoever's left."
ooc: I already know of areas closer to me where blood will be flowing..plus I dont need to send a ship allllllll the way to the north sea to try and pick up some missiles..while I am busy revamping the infrastructure of my entire country...

Kampfers' hearts go out to the sailors who now sit at the bottom of the ocean. Hopefully all steps will be taken to save them and return to their families safely. We sympathize with all the governments involved, and hope that the submarine is returned to its rightful owner. Please keep this incident from becoming an international incident.

OOC: This seems like something for me, missiles from America, a country my Socialist state doesn't like very much. Spain isn't nuclear, so a couple "missing" might be useful. However, I can't afford a fight with America at this early stage.
OOC: I hope to God you've not got your eyes on Belgium.
ooc: Are you threatening me...?..continue in the ooc/signup I dont wanna flood DP's thread with ooc stuff...

"Then on your own heads be it. We'll hold a memorium service for the inevitably dead men...and your humanity."
"Aye, men, we're leaving. It's not something we're proud of, but we're forbidden from entering, so we're not going to be able to touch it. And to be honest, we've all got better things to do than to wait for these men to die."
"Aye, captain."
Packing up the gear, the captain took one final look to the bottom of the sea, before giving a salute and waving the signal to move off. Below them, the submarine had re-engaged it's engine, and was continuing it's control. Nobody wanted to explain this to High Command.

The Waters of the North Sea are cold and dangerous. The dark blue waters churn as waves break up and down. 5 Fighters from Strike Fighter Squadron 86 off of the IDS-Enterprise skimmed over the water. They flew in a V formation over the area of the submarine wreck. The Enterprise Carrier Strike group was far away from home. Air superiority over the wreck site was key to secure a safe recovery. Once the fighters had Air superiority, SH-60F Seahawks flew over and dropped sonar buoys to try and detect the location of the submarine wreck. Sonar technicians listened for the ping of the sonar beam hitting metal.
After only a half hour of searching they finally found the wreck. By then the carrier strike force had reached the area. The IDS-Simpson sailed to the position of the wreck. There a team of Navy Deep Sea Divers dived down to the wreck. They wore high pressure suits to protect themselves from the waters extreme pressure at that depth. They entered the wrecked hull of the once proud Ohio class submarine. Dead bodies littered the deck of the submarine, All with faces of horror that were painted on them there last few moments on this earth. The divers continued to there objective. They secured each warhead one by one and brought them up to the surface. Once all of the warheads were recovered, the divers placed C4 charges around the hull of the submarine. They did not want any of the submarine’s equipment falling into the wrong hands. Once this was done they returned to the surface. There mission was complete. The Strike force began to move away and sail back home. In the control room on the IDS-Enterprise, the order was given to detonate the charges. A large plume of water shot skyward as the submarines hull was utterly destroyed. The sad crews of the strike group returned to Norfolk NS. They mourned the good men on that submarine. All claimed by the perilous sea.
