Basic Info On Governmental Leaders

The Honakon Leadership is one of aging Governors, and little is known about what the fate of Honakon will be when they pass on. Here is a brief bio of the four most important, in order of importance. They are widely known as the Perez Group, and other three are the only people who wield any real power other than Perez in the Republic. They regularly meet when important issues come up.

High Commissionar Juan Gasper Perez; Age: 76; Control Of Government: 1956 – Present

A strong socialist and vain leader, Juan Gasper Perez overthrew the democratic government and Monarchy of the mainland Espanola after a five year struggle from 1951 to 1956. He was at a young age, just 21, when his father handed him the Generalship of the Socialist Army of Honakon, which at that time was just an underground operation. With the help of his close friend and supposed military mastermind Ildefonso Mendez he had taken half the country within three years, and the rest was easy. He is well known for his dominate personality, threatening gaze and short temper. Propaganda, no elections and hundreds of public celebrations of himself have made him be seen as a bad leader by some more democratic nations.

Commissionar General Ildefonso Mendez; Age: 75; Head of Military: 1957 – Present

A loyal friend of Perez, was installed eleven months after the takeover of Espanyol as the Head of Socialist Army of Honakon. His clever tactics and strong presence made him a great General at these times, and by 1970 he had, under Perez's orders, taken both Marruecos (Morocco) and Portala (Portugal) into the Socialist Republic. He is the sternest looking of the group, and the one who works in the background the most. Recent military failures have highlighted his faults, especially in Western Sahara, where desert warfare has proved tough, and some say the aging General should retire.

Commissionar Jeronimo Reyes; Age: 68; Head of Internal Affairs: 1970 – Present

Reyes is the newest of the Perez Group – and yet has still had a job for over thirty-six years. He is widely regarded as another flamboyant personality, and is somewhat of a celebrity in the Republic. Perez dislikes this, as he feels it undermines him and also goes against Socialist values. Nevertheless, he is a well respected member of government with a long successful history of maintaining the status quo in an unstable country ever since he took over from the murdered Pablo Valdez in 1970.

Commissionar Modesto Vega; Age: 79; Head of Honakon Security and Justice: 1956 – Present

Another long friend of Perez’s, he fought alongside him during the Independence war in the 50’s and is regarded as the most clever and cunning of the group. He, despite them having a Foreign Affairs Commission, usually deals with forming pacts and strong relations with other countries. In recent years he has expressed a desire to rule the country – however, some wonder how far he will go to take that power, as the friendship between him and Perez becomes strained.

The People's Republic of H-Town Tejas would like to establish diplomatic relations with our fellow socialist nation of Honakon. The SRH is invited to form an embassy in Lima, and we would like to form one in PĂ©reziston.

To Josue Leui Vega,

We gracefully accept your offer of an embassy exchange. It is hard in this very money-minded world to find another major socialist nation, especially one of Spanish origin, and we are pleased to be informed of your presence. We certainly do hope that diplomatic relations are improved in the future, and will discuss those matters further soon.

Signed,
Commissioner Modesto Vega

Kampfers wishes to begin official diplomatic relations with your nation. As such, we wish to start out properly by exchanging embassies. We are glad you have taken interest in our Mediteranean Union proposal, and we hope that this is only the beggining of our relationship. We are glad that you have chosen to look past our difference in governmental views, and that you have chosen to possibly work with us instead of against us. If more nations in the world took your approach, there would be less fighting and more peace, which is always a good thing.

Union of Kopparbergs India

To: The Socialist Republic of Honakon

Request for diplomatic connections

The Union of Kopparbergs India/Myanmar has decided to improve our diplomatic network, and The Socialist Republic of Honakon is one of the selected countries we wish to exchange embassies with.

Seeing as TSRH has a strategic location with the Gibraltar Strait inside your borders, we would like to come to some kind of deal where our trade ships are granted permission to pass through the Strait. We're having trading partners all around the world, and the route through your strait is the preferred route to nations in northern Europe.

To Dinesh Karthik,

Currently our nation’s leaders are considering what to do with the Gibraltar Strait. At this time it is free for all nations to pass through these waters with their trade ships, however in the coming months this will all change. Taxes and restrictions will be placed to all nations who we are unsure about who wish to pass through, and shortly a minor taxing for the Strait will be announced to exploit on the fact the Suez Canal has closed and Asian nations may find it hard to go through to Europe. Also, within the coming months a few nations will be banned from using the Strait.

But, you have come at a good time, and we are willing to discuss a possible agreement. However do you have anything to offer us in return for not receiving this charge. Perhaps allowing us free access to your sea for refuelling and porting plus a mutual lowering of tariffs for the goods you produce would be suitable. We also hope that by not charging you, you view it as a diplomatic gesture and appreciate it.

And we will of cause exchange embassies, and look forward to improving relations.
Signed,
Commissioner Modesto Vega

Diplomatic connections and the strait

We think your idea of mutual lowering of tariffs, you'll get free access to our sea and ports, and we get free passage through the Strait is mostly agreeable.

And an embassy swap is of course needed to keep contact with the authorities in each country. Mr. Keegan Pereira will be our ambassador in your capital, and you're free to open up an embassy in Mumbai.

Official Response

We are delighted with your response and will prepare an ambassador to send to your nations capital. We will also provide a plot of land in Ottawa for a Honakon embassy. One matter concerning the future relationship between our nations however, is the issue of the closure of the Mediterranean to shipping. We sincerely hope that Canadian Union shipping, and that of our allies, will not be affected by either any closure or resultant destabilisation of the region that could result.

To Naashan Canadian Union,

I would guess, due to convenience, you mostly use my Strait for trade to the Med, and Kampfers canal for trade to Asia from the Med. Whilst the canal is closed till November, the Strait I control has had no such closure or destabilization, so there are no issues here. However, we have raised taxes, though if relations improve between our nations and we co-operate and our offered something in return, those taxes could be written off for you and your allies.

Official Response

We have little interest in the Kampferian canal at present and we recognise your right to tax shipping passing through the strait. In order to allow trade to continue unabated, I am authorising the treasury to pay 50% of the total tax levied against each Canadian Union vessel passing through the strait.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Wellt,
Prime Minister

To Naashan Canadian Union,

I am unsure of what you mean - I'm afraid that to pass through the Strait you must pay the full tax, however no extra tax is needed. If you allow us access to your waters for free, and provide a mutual lowering of tariffs, much like Kopperbergs, or better, open up close relations, the tax will be written off.

Again, my nation looks forward to sorting out this issue and improving diplomatic relations between our countries.

Signed,
Commissioner Modesto Vega

Sorry, this is an earth - which means nations play as selected countries with their own nations. In NS, I am not socialist, but if you want to have better relations with socialist nations look for an organization called the "GUSN" and perhaps they will make relations with you, or you could join them.
