"What the hell?" Was all the man could say before his head was sliced right off by an infected who just so happen to have a sword. It took only an hour for the virus to infect the major part of the popualtion. In one hour one million and nine-hundred thousnd people were infected. In one hour millions of people were killed. In one hour a population of over two million became a population less then ten-thousnd and lowering. Very few people surived the infection and only a hand full were uninfected. They had no mercy. All they did was kill, kill and kill. Men, women, fathers, mothers, childern, brothers, sisters, babies. It didn't matter. As long as you had a beating heart. Thats all you needed to be hunted down and get killed by an infected. It drove them. Your heart. It made them angery. Your heart. It made them who there were. Your heart. It made them killers. Your heart. Your blood. Your body. Your soul. You as a living being. As a being that can think. That can feel. That can breath.

T_T*T_T*T_T*T_T*T_T*T_T*T_TT_T*T_T*T_T*T_T*T_T*T_T*T_TT_T*T_T*T_T*T_T

It stated out with a patrol and ended with one brigade one each side of the city. One at the North, one at the West and one at the South. The East side being nothing, but a beach and water was patrolled by helicopters. How this could happen? Simple, the city failed to do it's daily report to the Division based at the colony which caused worry. A helicopter was sent and what the crew saw amazed them. Bodies and blood flooded the streets. A few screams of agony and pain could be heard as far as the eye could see. The air was tested and an unknown bacteria was found in it. Soldiers rushed to put on bio suits and other gear. Now, with their orders from the President, they waited. Killing the uninfected and infected alike as they ran to get out of the city or to kill those who sought to get away.

They called it, "A test gone wrong" when the government really had no clue what to do. Scientist had already gotten samples, but a cure on short notice was unlikely. No one, not even armed soldiers were allowed in the city.

May the Gods have mercy on the souls of those trapped in that city because the infected don't even know mercy means.

OOC: Okay I see where this is going... As of right now, there will be no more post with only OOC. Starting after this post of course :p. If you write a post mostly made up of IC then you may leave an OOC note at the beginning, the end or both, but not in the middle of the post in the IC part. This is to ensure that this thread doesn't end up with a flame war. Thank you. There is an OOC thread you know...

Major Alexander Pierce grabbed a strut as the chopper dipped slightly in altitude as the two Darkwing helicopters flew toward the city. The Government got word of the situation only a couple hours ago and elite Special Forces teams Alpha and Bravo were immediately sent in. They were coming up on the city's perimeter now.

"Five minutes out! Coming up on the PNR now! Engaging active camouflage!" The pilot hollered back to the cabin.

A miracle of modern military science, The Darkwings bent impacting light, rendering them completely transparent. It successfully masked their approach from the GH forces as they flew into the city. Pierce leaned into the cockpit yelled over the chopper's roaring engine, "Set down in the park near the center of the city! Immediate dust-off after we disembark then stay on station! Defensive actions against GH forces if necessary, but other than that, keep cloaked lay low!" The pilot flashed a thumbs-up and banked toward the city center, ordering Helicopter Bravo to do the same over the radio. "Gear up, ladies!" Pierce ordered his team, "And remember to stay on your toes! Maji doesn't want any slip-ups!"

The team unpacked XM8's, M9's, ammo, and other essential gear. Major Pierce strapped on his gear belt, withdrew his newly-cleaned XM8 Battle Rifle and sat back, smiling to himself. The mission was wuss-detail. This was gonna be a walk in the park...

On the day the virus ripped through the city Jenna had been home early ripping apart zombies with chain guns and saws. She'd been sent home due to coming close to an 'attack' or so the teacher had thought. In reality she'd conspired to ensure that the teacher found her in a situation very much like one of her 'triggers', and wanting to avoid the hellcat that she became had sent the little girl home.

When the virus' short incubation period drew to a close and the her agression was upped considerably, to a level akin to violant periods, a fist sent the tv shattering to the floor as she realized that there it hadn't been triggered.

Making her way to the kitchen where she 'liberated' a deboning knife, a carving knife and its matching fork, both of which had an ornate antler carved handle. Heading out of the house she heard the sounds of a fight and the cry of a baby. As the sounds were rapidly silenced she proceeded down the street to the corner store. Many a body was already bloating in the heat but all it did was start to stimulate her appatite.

I awoke from what I had thought to be a long nap. And then the memories came flooding back. My squad had been sent in to observe the situation in the city. We had gotten reports of mass rioting and a total loss of control. Then it hit us. Two of our men, Vince and Trey, succumbed to some sort of sickness. We tried to move them out, but we were attacked by deranged citizens. They ran fast, too fast for humans. And they didn't just attack us. They attacked whoever was in their sight, even each other.

We had gotten to cover, but some of them just kept coming. Taking them down was hard. The stronger ones had gone blind, but they tracked us by sound. And then Vince got up and fired within us. I could see his eyes as I killed him. They had the same look as the others. He was becoming one of them, and I had put him down. I didn't know how long it took before they went blind, but soon it was just me left firing.

I made it to safety, but I was attacked at close quarters by one of them. He managed to wound me, but I managed to put two into his head. I disinfected my wounds ad dressed them, but by the time I was done, I was exhausted. I tried to stay awake, but it didn't last long.

That's how I got to be where I am. I managed to find a mirror, and looked myself over. That's how I noticed my eyes. They were purple. I don't know how or why they had gone purple, but they were. I checked my gear. I had rounds for my USP and my M8, but I was runnign short on the latter. My water was full, thank God, I still had my wound kit and my combat knife. My night vision goggles weren't functional.

"were going down!" yelled the helicopter pilot as the helicopter went into a spin. the chopper was hit by a RPG from an infected soldier. the helicopter's tail broke off and it was smoking from the engine. Jonathan Hasley was on his way to Lord Sumguy. Hasley slipped, falling from the helicopter and landing on the roof of a building. the others werent so lucky. the helicopter crashed into a building, it's rotor blades flying off in all directions, tearing infected apart in a bloody mess. one of them flew strat for Hasley but ducked as it flew over him. he pickud up his AK-47 and climbed down the stairs, firing his weapon into the masses

he needed to get as many survivors out as possible

Major Pierce had changed his mind about the landing zone. The park was too conspicuous and there were way to many Infected around. So, he ordered the choppers to set down on a roof downtown. Big, blue-lighted letters on the side of the building read BANK OF GREEN HAWK. Alpha Team and Bravo Team now stood on the roof as the helicopters lifted off and cloaked.

Pierce addressed the muscular, broadly-built leader of Bravo Team, "Sergeant Cole, you guys take point. We'll sweep the building floor-by-floor. Remember, we need a live first-gen contaminant for the sample to have any real value. So remember to scan your targets with your laser scanners before you take 'em out."

Cole looked puzzled, "First-gen?"

Pierce rolled his eyes. Cole didn't listen to briefings worth a shit. "First generation. One of the first Infected."

Cole nodded, "Gotcha. Bravo, move in."

Bravo Team down the stairwell from the roof, Alpha following close behind. "Fuckin' stinks in here." Private Reynolds, one of the Bravos, said.

"Smells like bull semen," Another Bravo, Private Riley, replied. Reynolds wore a look of disgust, "How would you know what bull semen smells like?"

Riley grinned as they continued down the stairwell, "Cause I've smelled your mama!" Reynolds glared back at him as quiet chuckles arose from the rest of the team. The teams reached the door of the top office floor, a large '80' imprinted on the concrete wall next to it.

Cole motioned for Bravo to get into position for a breach.

It was a dark night, over a random country somewhere. A cargo plane flew, it's two engines buzzing. Rain hit it from above. Giant clouds on the front. And as the plane attempted to escape this unfriendly condition, bullets from the ground.

One of the engines lit on fire, the flames seeping out it like gas. The fuel burnt heavily, heating the passengers, and causing the plane to veer right. Shells exploded around it. It was more like a scene from World War Two than from Modern Times. But the Modern Element was their, contained within a missile, launched from the ground, which came ever closer and closer. It was spotted by the pilot, who then ordered it's cargo, paratroopers, to jump. Now.

One by one they fell, but the missile neared and neared. The second to leave struggled with his parachute. But , the missile made it to the plane, and exploded, killing all who were left.

The ones that made it hurtled down to the countryside below. One by one their parachutes opened, save for one. He landed in a river, apprently dead.

It was a flashback that woke the man at his desk. He checked his bearing, and found himself near his target, a colonial city owned by the Green Hawk state. He needed fuel, but he would have trouble if he tried to just ask for it. The problem was that his ship contained weapons that were meant to be in the hands of rebel milita someplace, somewhere. But they refused, and they remained on his boat, a small fishing boat, captained and crewed by him alone.

The problem would be solved, however, by a dubious fuel seller, would would refuel his ship no questions asked.

he steered his ship into one of the small harbours of the city. It was strangely quiet, for the moment at least. He drew up aside a dock, and disembarked, only to still not find any people. It disturbed him somewhat, but he concentrated on the building he wanted - a house near the docks. He opened the door, to find a scene that was hardly pleasant.

Bloodstains dotted the room, but it was the body that struck the man the most. The man he was meeting lay there, dead, cuts all over his body. He had seen many dead bodies before, and if he examined correctly...

The death was recent. And deliberate.

He shut the door and began to run back to his boat. He climbed up the gangplank, and headed to where he stored the weaponry. He surveyed the scene, and picked a long sniper rifle and desert eagle. Things that involved dead bodies needed a way to defend yourself.

He climbed up onto the deck and saw the first human, if from a distance, he had seen in his stay. The trouble was, he didn't walk, or powerwalk rather, as if he knew where his feet would land, but he seemed to know where everything was. He looked as if he was smelling something.

"Hey, you, I'm Rolford, what's happening here?"

The sound alerted the man. He turned his head in Rolf's direction, staring at nothing in particular, much like a blind man.

"Hello? If something wrong?"

The man started to run, quickly, toward the boat.

"What are you doing?" Rolf questioned

The man continued to run, faster and faster. Feeling nervious, Rolf grabbed the gangplank, and pulled it onto the ship.

"Try and get on now. For the last time, what do you think your doing?"

Nothing the man neared the jetty, and Rolford grabbed his rifle, and brandished it.

"Don't make me fire! I will!" He shouted.

The man reached the end of the jetty, and stopped, remembering the distance between them. But he did not give up. He slowly backed away, then jumped onto the boat.

"Right, enough!"

Rolford fired his rifle as the man neared the deck. A bullet lodged itself in the shoulder, but all it yielded was a short grunt from the man. He fired again, and missed. he dropped his rifle, and pulled out a gun. The man began to pull himself onto the deck, and as he got his right leg over, clawing at Rolford, Rolf unloaded his entire clip into the monster. This had more sucess, and the man slumped into the sea. Just then, more gunshots echoed thoughout the city. Curiousity getting the better of him, he lowered the gangplank and headed toward the city, wiser as to the threat that beset the city.

The building was empty for the most part but the streets of downtown were packed with Infected. Alpha Team maintained 360-degree security as they moved through across the street, firing in all directions. The two teams were ambushed by dozens of Infected after they had left the building and got separated. Over the radio, Sergeant Cole said he and his team were gonna haul ass to the suburbs. This was harder than Pierce had anticipated. By the book, Alex, he told himself as he shot another Infected. Gunshots continued to ring out all around him as they neared an abandoned SWAT vehicle.

Perfect.

"Weston!" Pierce hollered, "We need a ride! Hot wire that vehicle!"

Private Weston was a former car thief and cat burglar with more than a hundred counts of grand theft auto and seventy-three counts of burglary. EAM's harsh justice system gave him a life sentence before recruiters from the military approached him and told him what a benefit his skills would be to the Maji Armed Forces. Alpha took defensive positions around the large van as Private Weston jumped into the driver's seat. "Sir," Weston called, "The keys are in the ignition!" Pierce nodded and ordered everybody into the back of the van while he rode shotgun.

Hundreds of Infected crowding in pursuit, Weston started the vehicle and they sped off into the night.

"The air samples collected by helicopter pilots are of no use. The doctors say they need a live subject and thats what we're getting them. You guys will go in the city, pick up an infected and get out of there. If you meet an uninfected then I'll leave it up to you of what you will do with them. Agreed?" Asked an Army Colonel by the name of Randy "R&R" Ruth.

The men and women of the 31st tank platoon all nodded, but one of them, who's name is First Lieutenant Chris Douglas, instead of nodding raised his hand. After the Colonel nodded to him, he got up from his seat in the ready room.

"Sir and with respect, why are you sending us when an Air Force Spec Ops would do better?" This received a lot of nods and the Colonel answered back with, "because the Air Force would need two hours to get ready. While we are ready to go now. Everyone go to First Lieutenant Chris Douglas for more information regarding this mission."

The usual, "yes sirs" were said as everyone in the platoon got ready for combat. They existed the ready room and headed towards the armory while tank drivers went to their tanks. Sergeant First Class Davie Dave walked up to his commanding officer.

"Douglas? What's wrong? You never complain about a mission. Well, not like this at least. I mean- come on! The Air Force? I know they are the best, but that doesn't mean they have to do every mission. What's wrong?" The Sergeant was one of those guys that even though held an enlisted rank, still thought of himself as a leader and Davie thought it was his duty to hold the "A-Team"as he called it, together.

Chris stretch both of his arms out holding onto the sides of his locker. His eyes were a little watery as if he was on the verge of tears.

"I was suppose to be heading back home. One more fucking day and I would be home. Then this comes up and now I got to stay here longer!"

"Hey, clam down. Your not the only one who wants to go home. So clam the fuck down and if you have to, work your ass off on this mission and we can go home early," Davie smiled, "when we go home. We'll get some beers. Get the old grill out and have us some good old barbecue with the platoon. I smell the burnt steak already."

"Yeah, guess so... So? What are we waiting for? Lets kick some zombie ass!" Douglas threw his fist in the air as the Green Hawk Army manner and everyone in the locker room followed. Everyone after a few minutes of having all of their gear readied, checked and doubled checked their gear left the locker room. The platoon of thirty-six were ready to do what video games trained them to do. Kill zombie's with head shots or in this case, tank shells.

Foxfire hurried along the sewer line. The Black Ops trooper was soaked in blood and gore from the Infected he'd killed. They were everywhere. He climbed up though a sewer hole onto a street, gun ready. No one was in sight. Shop windows were smashed, cars on fire and overturned, dead everywhere. He needed to find a working vehicle. Foxfire found a truck and started it up. The sound suddenly drew Infected from everywhere! Foxfire stood on top of the truck as the zombies surronded him.

“Yes, Andy,” John replied.

“Well, you will be leading this mission. You will be escorted around by 10 or so Omega Force troops as the situation inside the colony itself is quite dangerous. Kyle pumped up the volume as The Fiery Halo's "Dying Alive" began to play on his speakers. He tried to drown out his thoughts with the music from his favorite post-hardcore band.

He threw himself on his bed, trying to sleep, but the thought kept on haunting his mind. He was alone. Trapped.

Kyle and his siblings were just notified that their parents could not come home from work in the hospital. His older brother Brock visited them four days ago. When Brock he came back home that night, he too was sick. His sister Elise took Brock to the hospital immediately, and they both did not return.

Somebody called last night, informing him that everyone his family had died. He was all too shocked to even cry, or even listen to the person's instructions or words. All he knew was that he was now alone, that an epidemic was gripping the city, and troops had quarantined the area. They were shooting everyone fleeing the city.

There was this flicker of anger on his mind, and he was somewhat afraid. Will I survive?

He went downstairs to check on his supplies. How long would I last? Almost every friend he checked were either dead or cannot be reached. He opened the pantry and there he had food that could last for about a week and a half. He wondered if supplies will be dropped in by the troops. Heck, there's an epidemic around, and they're starving the survivors?

Kyle wandered to the living room to watch the latest news. Outside news outlets had already tagged their situation as "hopeless". He, too, was starting to feel that way.

He noticed a cardboard box and a black briefcase beside the end table. I hadn't seen that before, he thought. Out of curiosity, he took the briefcase and opened it. Inside were lots of documents and slips of paper. He took one and began to read it.

Pathology Report

Gross examination showed hyperemic brain tissue with petechial hemorrhages.

Histological examination showed encephalomyelitis with eosinophilic cytoplasmic inclusions and Negri bodies in the neurons of all brain sections. Nuclear hyperchromatism of the neurons and glial cells are also seen. Metaplasia of the ependyma is present, with several necrotic and apoptotic loci in the hippocampal and entorrhinal sections.

Cerebral blood vessels show slight vasodilatation with rouleaux formations.

Diagnosis: Rabies (?)
(signed)
Dr. Bronson A. Stubblefield, M.D.
Pathologist
Ah, typical of Dad's work, Kyle thought. But there was something else that drew him. Below the report, there was written, in his father's handwriting:

Negri bodies are pathognomonic for rabies. Patient's symptoms never resembled rabies. No hydrophobia was present, no salivation, no difficulty in deglutition. History showed no episode of animal bite. Only present is an urge to kill other people. And rabies does not have any of those histological qualities - the only thing they have in common is the presence of Negri bodies --> is this something new?
Kyle understood the note more or less (with his parents grooming him for medical school), but he didn't care. Another thing that struck his mind was nagging him more: How did these get here?

"Alright, you two. We need a plan outta here. There are Infected all around the city, not to mention the Green Hawk soldiers. The best bet to get to safety is to get some ammunition and weapons to fight against the Infected and the patrols of Green Hawk. I know we have our knives and fire axes, but that wont cut it against the flow of Infected, and an army of well trained soldiers. But, we need to find a place to get out, and we need a map. I think it would be best to head for a Police Department, and a gun shop to get our weapons. I'm not really sure about the map, though. Any questions?"

Will sat down after his talk. The two teens sat speechless. After awhile, Lukas spoke up.

"I think I know where to get a map, Will," Lukas replied, "I know most cars have a map of the city, I know my mom always had a map in the glove compartment. I think it would be best to check there..." his voice trailed off.

Aina leaned against the window, and looked down.

There was a patrol of Green Hawks scouting the area. And a group of infected a little ways away, tearing each other to pieces. A Green Hawk took a grenade and threw it in the mess of blood and movement. Aina recoiled away from the window. A Green Hawk soldier sensed movement, and pointed to the suite where the group was staying, motioning to a shock soldier, carrying an RPG on his shoulder. Will came to see what Aina was worked up about and looked out the window.

"FUCK!" Will shouted, "RUN!" and shoved the two away from the window. Will kicked open the bathroom door, but it was too late.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM! an explosion rocked the building, sending the three sprawling forwards, Aina curled up into a ball defensively, sparing her head from the shrapnel of broken glass and concrete. Lukas flew forwards, banging his head against the bathroom wall, and landing in the bathtub, unconscious. While Will held the sink to brace him.

Once the commotion cleared, Will shouldered his sniper rifle, and grabbed three breath masks from the bedroom, putting on on himself, and throwing the rest to Aina.

"Put this on him," he said motioning to Lukas, "And then yourself."
Will paused for a moment so that Aina could get orientated. She nodded, and did what she was asked.

"We're getting the fuck out of this God-forsaken city if it kills me," Will said angerly.

He grabbed Lukas, and threw his unconscious body over his shoulder, and walked out of the bathroom.

"Oh yeah, assholes, here's a parting gift," and with that he took a grenade, pulled the tab, and thew it toward the patrol.

He had managed to get into the truck and get away from the masses of zombies before they could kill him. How is this happening? he thought. The truck sputtered, then died. He was out of gas. He heard shouts and running, and hid behind a low wall as a squad of Green Hawk soldiers ran past, towards the source of the explosion. Once they were gone Foxfire strapped the gun to his back and broke into a nearby house to see if he could find some food.

Being in a permenant, but pseudo-actual, state of mental unbalance just meant that whilst all others were out trying to dismember each other with spoons, or whatever else was close at hand, including severed hands she was thinking and planning. Jenna had thought she'd heard sporadic gunfire which helped her locate soldiers.

She began making her way to where it sounded like there were fighting, compelled a bit by the virii swarming her brain and blood. She had a plan to take out many without the tiresome bother of doing it herself.

"Aina, you take this knife, swipe at anything that comes near you. We're going to sneak downstairs, and try to evade any soldiers that came to investigate. Walk slowly," Will said, cautiously.

Aina followed will down the stairs, and kept looking at the helpless 15 year old
dangling over the ex-soldier's shoulder.

But she shook it off Now's not the time to have-

Her thought was interrupted by a screech, followed by a muffled landing and a panting sound, as if something was running a marathon.

Will dropped Lukas at the corner of the stairs, and unsheathed his fire axe.

"Aina! Get behind me!" Will said hoarsely.

Aina scrambled next to Lukas, and sat down.

"Wake up!" she begged.

There was another screech, but it was closer this time. Will looked around, and tightened his breath mask. Then, from the top of the stairs an infected leapt toward Will. Will timed the swing of his axe perfectly, and it landed right between the infected's eyes with a sickening popping sound. Blood squirted from the wound like a fountain.

Aina was suspended in disbelief. She felt light-headed and nauseous.

"Aina?" Will looked at the girl, and rushed to her side, and she bent over and vomited.

"There you go. Are you good enough to walk, my dear?" Will said.

Aina nodded.

"Okay, let's go then. We haven't even got out of the building and we almost got killed..." Will said.

Off the coast of the Green Hawk colony
2000 ZULU

Ten soldiers sat in the briefing room. There were wearing military garb and wearing their tan beret, showing that they were part of an Omega Force regiment.

“This is us here,” pointed Captain David Perez on a map of the Green Hawk colony. “Our objective is to land on this harbour and to escort two lab scientists who will be doing some tests on the environment. We need to also recover some bodies so that we are able to complete an autopsy on the bodies. In addition, we have orders to recover any survivors, if there are any. Survivors may be a crucial requirement to be able to get a vaccine fast. If there are survivors, we are to follow full quarantine procedures. Professor John Yu will demonstrate.”

The Professor walked to the stage with a stretcher. It had plastic all over it.

“This stretcher is designed so that we can induce negative pressure so that the disease, if airborne will not infect the entire ship. You are to inform the hospital ship if there is a survivor nearby. We will send for a helicopter.”

“Thank you, Professor,” said the Captain.

“We personally will be using boats to get onto the island. This means we need to find an LZ when we land. This is where we will base ourselves before starting anything. Any questions?”

One of the soldiers put their hands up.

“Sir, so we should assume that these…. Zombies are hostile?” He asked.

“Yes, we should, Trooper Ricks,” replied the Captain.

Another put their hand up.

“What about the Green Hawk units in the area?” Asked Sergeant Sanders. “According to the briefing file, there is a regiment level force already.”

“Yes, that is true,” replied the Captain. “Professor John Yu will be sending a transmission before we leave.”

“What about any support, in case shit hits the fan?” Asked another.

“Corporal Graham, you negative bastard!” Joked the Captain. “We have the support of the NCS Warrior which is capable of launching Tomahawk missiles if necessary. If we need to pull out, we will have the Marines from the ship escort us out. But I don’t want to see that. We all know that Marines are not real soldiers.”

Everyone laughed in agreement.

“Alright, let’s move out!”

The three zodiacs moved out in the dark night. It was fairly calm with not much wind.

“Dark and spooky, that’s how I like it!” Shouted Trooper Gabriela Frost, the only female soldier in the Omega Force. This was her first mission.

“What?” Shouted Trooper Colin Edwards, sarcastically. “Sorry, but this hazmat suit is blocking your high-pitched girly talk.”

Gab’s face blushed.

“Hey, it’s not as high-pitched as yours,” she shot back. “After what I did to your balls at that training mission.”

The crew laughed out loud. They knew that Gabriela was a strong lady. And they certainly knew what happened during that training mission.

The zodiac was quiet for a while. Then another soldier began to talk.

“The two scientists haven’t talked at all,” shouted Trooper Trey Rowland. “Introduce yourselves, ladies. Don’t be shy now.”

The two ladies gave a look.

“Well, I’m Doctor Louise Archer, and this is Doctor Lisa Yu.”

“Not related to Professor Yu are you?” Asked Trey.

“If it stops you from thinking about having sex with me, then yes!” Doctor Yu replied, quite forcefully.

“Geez, feisty,” replied Trooper Trey. “Makes for good banging material.”

The male troopers laughed out loud at the joke.

“Look, I’m only here because my Dad wants me here, and because I wanted your sex-crazed people!”

“Don’t worry about it Doctor Yu,” replied Gabriel. “That’s what happens when you put boys in a boy’s only regiment. They become sex deprived.”

Doctor Yu smiled. However, the moment was interrupted by the Captain.

“Concentrate, people,” he said. “We’re approaching the harbour.”

The harbour was in sight. Within a few minutes they were there. They quickly departed, ensuring that the zodiac was attached. Already there was a small fishing boat in the harbour

"We need to exam the boat when we gain a foothold," advised Sergeant Sanders.

They quickly moved to establish a landing zone at the car park. Suddenly, they heard an unearthly sound.

“Defensive positions!” Shouted the Captain.

Everyone moved behind the cars as the source of the sound became obvious. A horde of zombies had arrived. They were moving into the car park haphazardly, as the zombie seemed to be attacking themselves as there were moving in though. The Omega force took no chances however.

“Holy Shit,” the Captain muttered. “OPEN FIRE!”

The soldier's M4A1 rifles began to light up. The zombies switched their concentration towards the unit and began marching, intent to killing them.

“Grenade!” Shouted Trey as he fired of his M203 out into the zombies.

“Sir, we need to do a pull out to the harbour!” Shouted Sergeant Sanders. "There's too many of them. We cant mount C4s on this cars and use them as bobby-traps. That should destroy the zombie horde.”

“Do it!” Replied the Captain.

The unit began to fall back towards the harbour, as the zombie horde continued their march. Unbeknownst to the zombie, the cars were jetty rigged as bombs, with the soldiers mounting C4s as they pulled back. When they made it far enough, they detonated the C4. The zombie where caught by surprise, if they were aware of it at all. Bits of zombies were flown everywhere. Of the few left, they were cut by the M4A1s of the soldiers advancing back.

“Area cleared!” shouted Sergeant Sanders.

Foxfire froze upon seeing the youth a the door with the bat. He'd been clumsy, thinking no one was home, and knocked over a jar. Assorted foodstuffs were already spread out on the counter. Foxfire slowly backed up. "It's okay, I'm not a zombie." he said eyeing the bat in the kids hands. "I'm just trying to get some food. Hey, you might know: What's going on? Why are we suddenly in a bad horror movie?"
Kyle eyed the soldier wearily. He was nothing but a swirl of emotions right now. He was relieved that it wasn't some random looter; yet he was afraid that the soldier might kill him. He'd watched foreign and local soldiers shoot city folks in the bloody and brutal street fights, and wondered about his fate. He was confused at what he was saying; and he was angry for eating his food. Well, they are supposed to give food to the the starving survivors, then these soldiers come and eat his?

He then spotted his guns. Damn. My bat is nothing compared to that gun.

He tried to say something, but it all got stuck as a lump in his throat. But one rather humorously senseless sentence managed to come out: "What horror movie?"

Rolf had got further into the city. The gunshots were getting louder, but they were still fairly far off.

He was beside a apartment block, when he heard shouting (OOC: Myceena's, if it's not a problem). He sat behind a wall, and listened. He heard a stuggle taking place, and a sickening popping noise. Then, nothing. He wondered what was going on. Then, he heard the noise of running boots. Not from the building, but from down the street. He peeked down, and saw soldiers running toward him. He stood up, and shouted at them, asking what was going on. This was replied with a gun aimed at him.

He duck just as the fire was fired, and the bullets whizzed above him. He took off the safety on his sniper rifle, but found a grenade land in front of him as his arms were free. If there was something he was good at, it was reacting. And this time was no exception, as he grabbed the grenade, and tossed it back to it's owner. Moving a place where he could successfully fire his rifle, he aimed it, and after the grenade had gone off, he saw a disorientated soldier, just asking to be shot.

This would be his first snipe in years. As he zeroed in on the head, and gripped the trigger more tightly, he remembered that fateful moment. It was raining, and it was in the forest. The man stood there, looking for Rolf. As he replayed the shot in his head, the rifle was fired, and the soldier recieved a bullet in the head. The shot echoed thoughout the streets. He subconsciously cocked the gun, and he felt an overwelming sense of euphoria. It felt good to pull the trigger again. In a nostalgic way.

He fired again, at another. The bullet scraped the man's head. He gripped his head in pain. Once again, the gun was cocked, and fired again. He finished him off. His subconscious pulled him around the wall, as gunfire threatened him. It seemed he'd done this thousands of times before, but then he had back up. All he could do now was pull out his magnum, throw back grenades and wait until the soldiers needed to reload, or a tank arrived. Then he'd be buggered. Unless, he could somehow escape. He glanced around, and saw a locked door into the aforementioned apartment block. If only he could get through that. With the soldiers suppressing him, he couldn't really barge in.

Kyle thought about it for a moment. If he stayed, he would most probably be killed or infected, if he escaped... for what? His family and friends were dead anyway.

Then he remembered. "Come, I need to show you something," he said, gesturing the soldier to follow him to the living room.

They both went to the living room. Kyle took the briefcase and showed it contents to him. "There is something in here about the epidemic."

"It was just there... honest," Kyle said. "My Dad's the pathologist at the local hospital. My Mom's a doctor there too..." He tried to resist the temptation of him opening the box, because the soldier might suspect some more, but, "And I have this box that came with it..."

Kyle opened the box. In it were organs inside jars, and several small paper bags with something inside. He picked one up as the soldier examined the brains and livers floating in formaldehyde. Opening one paper bag, he took out a vial with a blue liquid inside, labeled "Purified Putative Virus Sample". He immediately returned the vial to the package. The soldier might suspect still some more if he saw it.

Inside were three small syringes with clear liquid inside, ready to be injected. In a handwritten note, there was, written, "symptomatic relief: Clonidine 500 mg + Diazepam 10 mg".

This might come in handy, he thought, pocketing it just like the virus vial.

Commander John Davis was a carrier naval officer, as well as a trained doctor. He in fact was in medical school when Professor John Yu was just a lecturer at the Carnegie University. So it was an interesting experience to meet up again. The commander led up the military units and was about to retire when the Captain radioed in.

“What is it?” Asked Commander Davis.

“Sir, we don’t have an LZ at the car park anymore,” replied Captain Perez. “It’s looks too damaged to land a Sea King.”

“Damn it, is their anywhere nearby?”

“I wouldn’t suggest it without a larger force. The zombies are very hostile.”

“Do you need reinforcements?”

“Not if we intend for this to just be an observation mission.”

One of the soldiers prodded the Captain.

“Sir, I think you should see this,” asked Private Peter Huerta.

“Commander, stand by,” the Captain spoke on the radio

They both moved to the beach, where Peter flashed a light on a set of footprints.

“Footprints, sir,” Peter said. “Fresh. And it ain’t ours”

“Yes,” the Captain acknowledged. The footprint ran from the boat to the harbour “Sergeant Sanders, get a team to enter the boat now!”

“Yes, boss!” Shouted Sgt. Sanders.

“Commander Davis, sir,” said the Captain, back to the Commander. “We have reason to believe that there may be a visitor who has entered the infected area. There are fresh footprint.

“Affirmative,” replied the Commander. “And what does this have to do with the operation?”

“Sir, if we want to rescue survivors like the Professor wants, we need a bigger force. We know that there are survivors now…”

“Possible survivors.”

“Yes, I know, sir! The point is, if we want a rat’s chance of rescuing anybody, we need a far bigger force to barricade this harbour, because winching patients up helicopters could take a long time, which could mean that the…”

“I don’t want to escalate the situation. Remember, your mission is to retrieve samples, not a bloody rescue mission. Keep your professionalism.”

“And if we want to do that, its going to take longer than we thought, and it’s going to be more dangerous than we thought. We need to stay for a day at least, and have this vantage point to stage operations.”

The Commander sighed. Sending reinforcements meant he had to stay up.

“Ok, I’ll send the reinforcements. But remember, retriving samples, not rescue. And you are to remain in the sector for only one day, from then, you are to pull out.”

"Yes Sir!"

Lukas was walking, holding his mother’s hand. He was younger, about 5 years old. They walked to their car.
“Now, sweetie, if you ever are lost, come back here and I’ll find you,” she said with a smile. But then, Lukas’s point of view got darker, and started to blur and spin. Shortly after, his point of view landed on his mother again.
“I’ll take care of you, always,” but she wasn’t smiling this time. Her face was rotting and her eyes were blood shot. She brought her hands to her face and dug them into her temples. Blood was running from the wound, and she dug deeper. She then started to rip off her face.
“Don’t forget the map!” She shrieked in a taunting tone.

“Ahhhh!” Lukas screamed from his sleep, in which he started to squirm from Will’s grasp.
They were outside of the building in midday and there were signs of combat everywhere. Bullet holes riddled the building and patches of blood appeared along with the occasional body.
“Put me down!” The boy screamed.
Will grasped him from his shoulder and set him down against the corner.

“Are you okay, Lukas?” Aina said hesitantly.
“I had a… nightmare… that’s all,” and with that, he stood up and walked towards Will.

“Let’s go. Where should we go first? Should we get a map fist or some guns?” He said weakly.

“Well… I think a map. That’d be easier than to try to blindly find a PD,” The ex-soldier said.

“There’s a parking lot right there,” Aina said, and pointed to the lot.

“Let’s all get a row of cars, and shout if you find anything else than a map in there,” he said.

“Hey, I think there are some maps in here… and some snacks. How convenient. Well, I’m not complaining. Here kids, chow down,” And he gave a large bag of potato chips and a bottle of water to the kids.

“Well, might as well take a little bre-“ his sentence was cut off from distant gunfire.
“Kids, get in the car. I’m going to hotwire this thing,” and he opened the door and started up the car, closed the door and took the wheel.

The kids scrambled in with their snacks and weapons.
